At around 4 PM, tha body of Houma, Louisiana rapper L.A. Tre, born Ruston Tyrell Gibson, 22, was discovered by police; he had been fatally shot in his apartment located in north Harris County. Review #1,227: Ben Lewis "Broke Or Balling"

Reviewed on 11.04.2012 (Review #1,227)

Got this Ben Lewis Broke Or Balling review I finna do; how will it turn out? Wow, I did 9 reviewz (counting this one) today, when I’m super-busy; when was tha last time that happened? Start Time: 11:04 PM | End Time: 11:22 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2012 CD Review (Review #1,227) reviewed on 11.04.2012 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. “Intro”
>>> Sounds like it goes wit tha ZaBaX artist I reviewed, just recently. Ehh, not likin’ that this beat sounds like a jacked version of Jay-Z’s “Song Cry”, smh… Despite that yuckyness, these rhymes are okay, but tha content ain’t much for me about losin’ someone… My Rating: 2.9

02. “Some Change” Feat. Yung Biz
>>> Sounds a lil’ swaggish wit tha “look at me” shit in tha hook… Ehh, it’s only okay; not really for me wit this typical rap flow of today… Well, Yung Biz sounds good on tha mic; see, some attitude on tha mic! That’s what I like! My Rating: 3.3

03. “I’m Da Shit” Feat. Lil’ Cali
‘Bout time there’s an anticipatin’ feature outta tha CDs I recently reviewed!! Really lookin’ forward to this one!!! >>> Well, beat’s a lil’ ehh and tha length’s kinda long. However, I’m likin’ when tha title repeats; “I’m tha shiiiiiit (you ain’t know?)!” Rhymes are okay, but this joint’s on tha catchy tip for me. Let’s see how my big dawg, Lil’ Cali does on tha 2nd verse… Likin’ his lil’ shinny rhymes, lol. Glad he wished my “FrankieThaLuckyDog” name a happy 10th birthday on his Twitter! Good job wit tha feature, Cali; tha 3rd verse iz a lil’ ehh from you, though… My Rating: 4.2

04. “Dumb” Feat. C-Loc
>>> Why iz there C-Loc on tha hook? I guess I’ll put him in tha feature… Rhymes are a lil’ blah, blah, blah, here; not too much for me, but it’s not that bad… My Rating: 3.3

05. “Get Real” Feat. H.K.
>>> Doesn’t sound that special; sounds like anotha song about someone bein’ less than you. I think I heard 1,000,000 of those kinda songs by now. Tha feature ain’t that bad, but there’s not much I can say about his verse, either… My Rating: 2.8

06. “My Life”
>>> Boring song about tha “paper;” what else iz new? My Rating: 2.5

07. “Blinded”
>>> Not really ‘pose to be into tha hook, although it sounded a lil’ catchy. Then again, I don’t think I should say dat ‘cause it’s prolly an inserted hook… There’s not much ta comment about tha rhymes, here; sounds like everyone else in tha mainstream, a lil’… My Rating: 3.0

08. “100” Feat. Young Bleed, B-Raw & Draper
>>> A lil’ long, but good to hear a feature like Bleed on tha 1st verse; nice “dirty-dirt” vibe, lol! Even some “pretty titties,” too! Not bad wit tha rest of this; beats some of tha other semi-boring songs on here… My Rating: 3.7

½time: Kinda not tha best, for me; only a 3.2-rated CD, currently.

09. “The Cost”
>>> Yuck, since it sounds like an inserted hook… Rhymes ain’t too bad, but this iz mainly boring for me. My Rating: 2.7

10. “Love U”
>>> A lil’ catchy wit tha hook, but sounds sampled or inserted… Okay rhymes, but nothin’ for me to really comment on. My Rating: 3.1

11. “Pop It Off” Feat. Lil’ Josh, Bruce & Lady B
>>> Wow, original production from EQ? Random, includin’ a Cassidy sample on tha hook? Also, havin’ Lil’ Josh as one of tha features? Funny how this CD just randomly has some good features… I like tha “drop it low” shit in tha hook; nice job, Josh, includin’ tha shit on tha 1st verse. Also, good for bringin’ Lady B on this! Was she before tha Bruce person? I don’t get it; I’m a lil’ confused, but nice job, err-body. My Rating: 3.7

12. “Making Moves”
>>> Really weak start fa me; can’t deal wit a gay-soundin’ hook like dat wit tha soft-ass voice! Also, wtf, it’s over five minutes long?! Verses ain’t too bad, but I can’t be bothered wit somethin’ long like this… My Rating: 1.4

13. “Gather Round”
>>> Sounds like suspense wit tha beat and how you’re rappin’, here; good shit. I was gonna bash on tha sample used, but it sounds like swing music, so I’ll give it a prop. Also, this iz soundin’ like a paranoid conversation or somethin’; interestin’… My Rating: 4.0

14. “Miss Me”
>>> I like this beat you chose; catchy sounds! Still, why iz this so long? *Yawn*, fuckin’ today’s generation of clutter!! Rhymes are aight, but tha boringness comes out so fast… My Rating: 3.5

15. “Let Me Rip” Feat. Suge & Two 3
>>> Tha hook sounds good fa y’all ta be a part of… Even though this iz really long, at least there’s some sorta jam-type vibe goin’ on… Tha verses were okay; nothin’ much fa me ta say about this one… My Rating: 3.4

16. “Dubble Up” Feat. Bruce & JD
>>> Weird hook that sounds good, but why iz there a “Beat Flippa on tha track; retarded, belie’ dat” part in tha hook? Beat Flippa produced this? Either way, it’s a hot beat, and tha verses aren’t that bad… My Rating: 3.8

17. “Ack Bad”
>>> Not too bad for an ending song; good beat for you to rap on, knockin’ “‘em off,” here… I like those “u see me” parts, too. My Rating: 3.8

Overall: Ehh, not tha best, but there were some things that caught my attention.

01. “Intro”
>>> Sounds interestin’; lots of consistent rhymes for a white boy! My Rating: 4.4

02. “Hip Hop ‘94”
Iz this when you were born? I think so ‘cause you said, “18,” on tha previous song… >>> You almost sound like Eminem, in a way? Yea, I heard you say you were born in “1994;” very interestin’ rhymes, and now, I know about “Kurt Cobain.” Glad I studied my musical history since, almost, just two years ago! My Rating: 4.5

03. “Ignorance Is Bliss”
>>> “Anger management classes;” you’re a fighter? Feelin’ tha realistic rhymes, here; nice dark theme! My Rating: 4.3

04. “Still Alive” Feat. Droll
>>> This ain’t too bad for a start; nice singin’ on tha hook! Sounds like you can fit in an alternative format on college stations… Okay, tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ betta than tha 1st verse; nice and consistent! My Rating: 4.1

05. “Theme Song”
>>> Not really into tha beat you chose; sounds like typical music you can hear anywhere… Ehh, even some of tha rhymes sound like today’s rap… Good for your consistency and shit, but almost four minutes of this? Naw…; your “ridin’ around like I’m famous” part sounds like a song that was out… My Rating: 3.6

06. “Invincible (Interlude)”
>>> I didn’t expect rappin’, but good job wit your rhymes ova this beat. My Rating: 4.0

07. “Castle Walls”
>>> Catchy hook; hope it ain’t inserted from somewhere else… You got some catchy rhymes goin’ on, here; seems like a struggle in a way. Then again, you’re only 18… My Rating: 4.2

½time: You’re doin’ a nice job wit this CD, here; glad you have effort, enough to get a 4.2 for tha CD rating, currently!!

08. “A Lot On My Mind”
>>> Now, I think it sounds like an inserted hook; not really into that, and how long it iz ‘til tha 1st verse starts… Good rhymes, at times… My Rating: 3.7

09. “He Chose You”
>>> Lots of non-stop rappin’; I like this lil’ vibe you got goin’ on, here… My Rating: 4.2

10. “Bonkers” Feat. Chad Beezy
>>> Nice “jungle” shit you rappin’ about, “eatin’ beetles” and err-thang! Hook’s a lil’ cheesy wit tha repeatin’ shit, but I do like tha monkeys and shit in tha background, lol. As far as Chad on tha feature, ehh, not into these lyrics at all…; very typical, like there’s neva a problem; *yawn*… My Rating: 3.7

11. “Who I Want To Be” Feat. Jordan Favorite
>>> Good singin’ on tha hook; hope me sayin’ dat iz for it bein’ an actual hook, not an inserted one… Once again, soundin’ a lil’ Eminemish wit tha vocals, and you got a good delivery goin’ on, here… Heard tha “N”-word on tha 2nd verse, so tha Jordan person must be on tha feature, as a dude? Either way, not too bad… My Rating: 3.6

12. “64 Bars”
>>> Sounds like a Nas vibe… I like dat “Louisiana voodoo” part; not too bad, overall… Some of this also sounds like Bubba Sparxxx wit tha flow… My Rating: 3.8

13. “You (Interlude)”
>>> Anotha one I didn’t expect to have rappin’, since it’s an interlude…; ehh, this was okay. My Rating: 3.7

14. “Write Your Name”
>>> Inserted hook? I dunno about that… As for your rappin’, it sounds decent; sounds Eminemish toward tha last verse… Hook’s soundin’ nice and spooky! Likin’ it, a lil’! My Rating: 3.9

Overall: Interestin’ CD; good job, and keep it up!

Reviewed on 11.04.2012 (Review #1,225)

This next review iz artist Lil’ Pokey This Is Why I’m Hot (Da Mixtape). Okay, tha title’s automatic, so that’s low anticipation for me. Also, tha uncalled for “da mixtape” in tha title, too; WHY DOES EVERYONE JUST PUT OUT MIXTAPES?!? WHERE ARE THA ALBUMS?!? Also, I don’t get why everyone’s wearin’ tha geeky glasses now-a-dayz?! Start Time: 9:48 PM | End Time: 10:01 PM

01. “Intro”
>>> Didn’t expect rappin’, but it’s aight, minus tha dickridin’ of tha word “mixtape.” My Rating: 3.7

02. “Feel Like It”
>>> Not bad; sounds like a regular joint from Louisiana… My Rating: 3.8

03. “Actin’ On ‘Em (Swerve)”
>>> ??? Why was there a beat tag, smh… ??? I like this beat, though; I like your whole “swerve” shit goin’ on. I like how you be “actin’,” here… My Rating: 4.1

04. “Is It Dat”
>>> Heard this beat on anotha Louisiana artist, once before, so I can’t really feel this too much; didn’t think Id’ hear it again. Tha rappin’ ain’t too bad, though… My Rating: 3.0

05. “Bad Bitch”
>>> Typical, but it ain’t bad… My Rating: 3.6

06. “Fuss N Fight”
>>> Vocals are a lil’ gay on tha hook; I’m not gonna waste my time on this soft, long, not “mixtape” material shit. My Rating: 1.7

07. “In My Snapback”
>>> Nothin’ really ta say about this one; decent… My Rating: 3.5

08. “Gotta Get It Official”
>>> Yuck, a “money” song wit a long-ass, braggin’ intro; what else iz new?!? My Rating: 2.3

09. “Cuttin’ Up”

10. “Do Tha Most”
>>> Anotha one that’s nothin’ special… My Rating: 3.1

11. “She Ride Dat Dick”

12. “Pokey”

15. “Prayers Go Up, Blessings Come Down (Trayvon Martin Tribute)”

16. “Kick ‘Em 2 Tha Curve”
>>> I ain’t puttin’ up wit a hook like this; no need for feedback from me! My Rating: 1.8

17. “Fuck Berney” (Lil’ Donkey Feat. Lil’ Pokey & Teflon)
>>> Sounds like a random song… I don’t know what ta say about this, except that it’s a typical, 225-type hood song that’s, like, internet status… Where’s “Bad Azz Ent.” comin’ from, here? My Rating: 3.4

18. “Tears Drop”
>>> Not into inserted hooks; not really for me wit these sad lyrics. However, you had a betta ear for beats, here. I like tha Trayvon Martin tribute betta… My Rating: 2.7

19. Outro
>>> Contact info. My Rating: N/A

Overall: Not much feedback I left; there wasn’t much to say. I guess it’s time to get some original beats and more ideas…
