Review #1,607: Jay Da Menace "I Took Yo Beat"

Reviewed on 12.26.2016 (Review #1,607)

Not really in a mood, right now, but lemme get some of this shit outta my way… Jay Da Menace I Took Yo Beat review, released on H.I.T.Z. Media Services & XLProductions. It looks like this gon be a jacked-beat CD, so let’s hope this goes fast… Start Time: 8:40 AM | End Time: 9:17 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2016 CD Review (Review #1,607) reviewed on 12.26.2016 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. “No-Problem”
>>> Really not feelin’ tha voice in tha beginning; I don’t think this gon go over well… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s more of a normal voice… Decent rhymes, here, showin’ off… Hearin’ that hook and that’s where it’s a turn-off with tha voice… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s decent; really-quick verses, here… My Rating: 1.8

02. “Broccolli”
>>> Decent wit how you come through wit “dat gas” and how it’s “potent.” My Rating: 3.0

03. “Can’t Get Enuff”
>>> Glad you an “O.G.” and that you “smoke weed;” good rhymes ova this beat… You even mentioned “edibles;” dope shit… My Rating: 3.4

04. “Star_Boy”
>>> Decent, even tho I think tha original version’s so overrated… I feel like that’s what happens with these Daft Punk collaborations… Even tha original version fadin’ at tha end? Gay… My Rating: 2.3

05. “Dat Girl (Black Beatles)” feat. Jay Jones
>>> I have no interest in this; next! My Rating: 1.5

06. “Sorryyy”
>>> I don’t fuck wit this kinda sorrow shit but I’m likin’ tha beat you chose to rap on… Either way, this below-average fa me; too quiet on tha vocals? My Rating: 1.7

07. “Wat U Mean”
>>> Just sounds like randomness to me; what’s with tha original versions at tha end? My Rating: 1.9

08. “Come & C-Me”
>>> Why all tha “March 2017” shit in tha beginning? C’mon now! What tags gon be next? “I’m masturbatin’ on tha beat!” Smh! No interest in this quiet Drake shit! My Rating: 1.2

09. “Cut Itt” feat. Militia Ko
>>> Pathetic with tha original version on tha hook! Whateva @ this… My Rating: 1.4

10. “_Exchange”
>>> Decent rappin’, here, tho this beat boring to rap on… My Rating: 1.6

½time: A 2.0-rated CD, so far; I think I’m wastin’ my precious time, here…

11. “Low Life”
>>> Fade-in intro? How gay! Not bad wit tha rhymes, here… My Rating: 2.8

12. “Worldwide Choppas”
>>> Sounds like consistent rappin’ ova a decent beat; I accept it… My Rating: 2.9

13. “Be Comfortable” feat. Chyna
>>> About ½ of this iz tha original version’s hook; just a regular-soundin’ jacked-beat remake… My Rating: 2.0

14. “Da Other Side”
>>> What’s with this Travi$ Scott shit? Why would I even have interest in this? Decent wit your rappin’, but I lost all interest, due to tha beginning… My Rating: 1.3

15. “Hello”
>>> Pathetic with Adele, here… I should just skip each song that has that “March 2017” shit in tha beginning… Adele sounds off-beat, here… You sound decent but this on tha boring side fa me… My Rating: 1.1

16. “Sorry Not Sorry”
Anotha “Sorry” joint?! >>> Nothin’ ta say, here… My Rating: 2.2

17. “Get Away”
>>> I love how this whole entire CD has 2015/2016 beats and then, a 2001/2002 one comes along (Mobb Deep); nice surprise… Either way, nothin’ much ta say wit how you sound quiet on these vocals… My Rating: 2.4

18. “All Eyes On You”
>>> Pathetic wit this, too! No comment… My Rating: 1.0

19. “I Promise” feat. Meana
>>> Why a Wap in tha beginning? Wasp, instead?!? Just quiet rappin’ with no comment from me, here… Meana = Mista Meana? I don’t wanna guess like that, since this a jacked-beat CD, but that’s just a random thought… My Rating: 1.2

20. “I’m Curious”
>>> Uh oh! 2:50 on tha length! Why we gettin’ longer, outta nowhere? No need to! Glad these are short and are goin’ quick… This ain’t as bad as tha previous tracks but there’s no interest fa me wit how you comin’ through, here, on this beat… My Rating: 1.1

21. “What They Want” feat. Konsep
>>> WTF @ my enemy’s birthday on tha length (3:07); that long?! And, a DMX beat?! Weird mix!! Interestin’ story; crazy shit goin’ on in tha world… My Rating: 2.5

Overall: Thought it would’ve been more serious and more tight ova these beats but it was just quiet shit, random shit & boring shit…

R.I.P. Video #50: Double Crossa

Recorded December 2, 2016

Broadcasting from tha West Mountain Sanitarium near Scranton, PA, it's ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog, here, reportin' anotha tragic loss in tha Louisiana rap community...

Ricardo Hollins, known by his two stage names, "Duck," and, "Double Crossa," was shot to death by multiple gunshots in tha parking lot of a clothing store near Canal Street in Mid-City, New Orleans, LA, on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Hollins' killing was tha fourth shooting occurred within a two-hour period in New Orleans. There was a man shot multiple times around noon in tha 2200 block of St. Andrew Street in Central City. At around 12:45 PM, gunfire had erupted in tha 7th Ward when officers tried to stop a vehicle. Tha vehicle's occupants stepped out and aimed fire at officers, which nobody was injured, according to NOPD spokesman, Tyler Gamble. Just minutes before Hollins' shooting, there was another shooting in tha Pines Village neighborhood, resulting in a man gettin' injured.

Hollins first became known in Louisiana's underground by being connected with fellow N'awlinz fallen soulja, Soulja Slim. They both started tha Cutthroat Comitty in tha early 2000s and in 2005, Hollins released his debut, Status Of My Own, on MDK Records. Aside from rappin', Hollins would later go on to become an author. Hollins' writing was inspired by reading Donald Goines' books. Hollins embraced how Goines would put his everyday life into writing books and would begin a journey into writing books. Hollins named his publishing company RHPublishing, naming it after his name. Hollins has written approximately 30 books in his lifetime, with Murda Capital being one of his first releases. RHPublishing also released Spoken Word Struggle Poetry Vol. 1, a 15-track disc of spoken word tracks. At tha time of his death, Hollins was only 40 years-old.

01. “Intro”
>>> Great ta start it off wit “fulla dat weed,” but you said, “Ain’t smoke in two years?” Crazy! If it was me, I’d have edibles for tha moment! Mouse doin’ tha beat, here, and you soundin’ nice on tha verse, here… Great how you layin’ it down, here, includin’ how you have a Nu$$ie reference with, “If you ain’t sharin’, I ain’t carin’.” My Rating: 4.2

02. “Right Back” feat. Mouse On Tha Track
>>> Mouse doin’ tha track; sounds hot! Diggin’ tha siren on this! Mouse uncredited on this? Yeah, he on tha hook; dumb shit! Great job, guys! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice, here! Shit sounds nice wit how you layin’ it down, once again! You really got this undaground BR shit on lock! Diggin’ how you referenced O.T. Genasis with “Cut It”, lol… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty tight, too! You got this shit on lock! Gotta keep it goin’ and neva give up!! My Rating: 4.6

03. “Not A Friendly Sport”
Interesting? >>> Mouse your lead producer on this mixtape? Sounds great ta have him a 3rd time on here! Tha hook’s pretty nice; ain’t think it was this slow… Still, definitely nice; good hook! Shit’s true about how people aren’t real! It’s crazy ‘cause you team up with some fake people, too, and I’ono how you don’t detect ‘em? Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s good ta hear. It’s all about makin’ silence be deafening!! That’s why, I deactivated my Facebook & Instagram for now! I ain’t get my way! People ain’t treatin’ me as important! Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here; good shit… My Rating: 4.2

04. “One Time For The Money” feat. Snootie Wild, Maine Musik & Mouse On Tha Track
Smh @ tha outdated feature! I remembered when that cat (Snootie) followed me on Twitter, to only find out that when I gave them my #, some random dude called me, instead! Dude wouldn’t even give me a T-shirt and was trippin’, smh!! >>> Mouse doin’ tha track, again. I’ono about this “money” shit; let’s see… I’m diggin’ how this beat’s a lil’ hypnotizin’, as well as calm… You doin’ a nice job on tha 1st verse; can’t complain. As far as tha hook, I think its content’s bullshit. However, with it bein’ Mouse spittin’ it, it don’t sound wack; it sounds catchy… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s nice with this fast rappin’… Sounds like Mouse on tha 3rd verse, here; catchiness… Surprised I like a “money” track so much—well, “so much” means at least a 4.0! Ain’t recognize where Snootie was on here, luckily. Everythang flowed nicely and I ain’t have ta puke or whateva! My Rating: 4.3

05. “Past Tense” feat. King Drizzle & J Trax
>>> I’ono about this one that much… Kinda sounds like mainstream bullshit like somethin’ Future or one of these new cats would rap on? Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad; just decent, here, with not much to complain about… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s not bad… Overall, this ain’t too bad ta flow through on this mixtape, right chea… My Rating: 3.8

06. “Another Mode”
A shorter title but I recognize this… My Current Rating: 4.4

07. “Buku” feat. Dirty Harry & Lil’ One The Champ
Lol! Dirty Harry! Flashback Friday! I remembered tha day when I first heard of him—Valentine’s Day, 2010, on Savage & Young Ready’s Self-Made Bosses CD!! >>> Kinda sounds like it’s tha sequel to tha Snootie Wild collab wit this “money” shit, at times… Tha hook’s pretty nice wit you holdin’ it down, here! I luv when you be sayin’ titles, at times! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like Dirty Harry—tha comeback? Too bad tha ID fucked me up; they’re reversed! Still, definitely nice ta hear him! Wonder what he doin’ now-a-dayz? Definitely nice ta hear him, once again! You on tha 2nd verse, spittin’ dat king shit! Defintiely deserve “buku” everythang!! And, Lil’ One on tha 3rd verse. Smh @ err-body fa dickridin’ him by puttin’ him before Dirty Harry on tha ID! Just anotha way ta surprise me? Still, a nice verse and contribution, here… My Rating: 4.4

08. “Fall Back” feat. Mouse On Tha Track
! >>> I knew when tha “Dat Me” was gon appear, lol! Sounds nice fa a start, here, wit you on tha 1st verse and this Mouse production! I’m glad your “mouth lookin’ like Paul Wall” wit tha shiny teeth! I can’t wait fa that ta be me, but where would I begin? Tha hook’s soundin’ nice from Mouse! Gotta luv how he delivers it and makes y’all “fall back!” Speakin’ of tha title, I feel like that’s me, right now, as I’ve been annoying to people. It’s like, when will I be considered important to people? Anyway, here you are on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through, stayin’ focused! My Rating: 4.5

09. “Prayin’ 4 Me” feat. Corey B
>>> Beat sounds nice, here, fa a lil’ darker one… You sound good on tha 1st verse, doin’ ya thang… Not sure how much I feel that dude on tha hook’s voice but it’s still nice… You on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through, doin’ you; nice… My Rating: 3.9

½time: Sounds pretty nice, so far; a 4.3-rated CD! Keep it up!

10. “Thug Love” feat. Vante
>>> This ain’t too bad with tha singin’ in tha beginning wit Mouse doin’ tha beat… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice wit how you bringin’ it… Tha 2nd verse sounds nice wit what you bringin’ to tha table, here… Glad you poppin’ a “Watson”—well, “three of ‘em!” My Rating: 3.8

11. “Migo”
>>> Q-Red on tha beat! Sounds nice ta hear wit this hook… I swear, I kept writin’ “Migos” when tryna type tha title, lol… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it sounds good ta hear… And yeah, “Blame it on my migo [B-Real] for boostin’ up my ego!” I agree wit dat one! Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here, as you’re holdin’ it down fa tha streetz… My Rating: 4.0

12. “Penitentiary EP”
This again???? I can see repeatin’ a song but why an eight-minute one? My Current Rating: 3.5

13. “Used To Be” feat. Yani
Why tha worst songs from tha last CD repeatin’? My Current Rating: 3.1

14. “Sherwood”
>>> Mouse doin’ tha beat! Sounds nice ta hear wit this siren and what you got goin’ on during tha hook! Hook’s an excellent representation of tha Rouge hood! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice! You got this G-shit on lock! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty catchy! Luvin’ all tha “ya dig” shit, “ya dig?!” My Rating: 4.4

15. “Ninja Turtle”
>>> Diggin’ tha throwback Mouse beat tag with tha Handy sample! This shit’s pretty mint! Get it? Mint! Green! All about dat “shit [you] smokin’!” Even mentioned “tha munchies;” nice! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice! Good shit you got goin’ on! Oh, so tha intro was not tha hook? Hearin’ tha actual hook and it’s pretty nice! Gotta shmoke anythang!! Hook’s definitely A+!! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice how you keep this shit on-n-poppin’! Definitely some of dat good shit ta shmoke to! Tha 3rd verse’s pretty nice, too; good shit! “Eyes low wit tha munchies;” luv how you said that, lol! Now, that’s a mumble rap!!! My Rating: 4.7

16. “Full Of Myself”
>>> Q-Red—Q-Red!! Pretty energetic!! Definitely diggin’ tha “smoke” shit on tha hook, here! We definitely gotta light it up in tha future!! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and you really focused, here! “Let a nigga get out his character;” fuckin’ right!! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty serious, too! Just luv how you “full of” err-thang you be takin’! Edibles = infinity highs!! My Rating: 4.7

17. “She Getting On My Nerves”
>>> “Fine Vine” on tha beat? Somethin’ tells me I heard weird… Anyway, I have a feelin’ this gon be kinda mainstream-y and boring with tha production… Even tho this drama shit ain’t fa me, I have ta admit, you sound catchy on tha hook… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad. Too bad this production ain’t ringin’ bells fa me… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here; decent track, here… My Rating: 3.7

18. “My Dawg”
! >>> This sounds like classic Zoe on tha hook, here! Definitely feelin’ how you comin’ through on tha hook, here! Beat’s pretty nice! It kinda sounds like tha shit all in tha mainstream but it’s still nice ta hear you on it! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice wit what you bringin’ wit these rhymes! “Cut from a different fabric;” fuckin’ right! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, here, especially wit how you like, “If it’s fuck ya” ‘cause it’s true! My Rating: 4.3

Overall: This scored a ½ point more than your Shit Just Got Realla CD; great job! Each CD had its own pluses. You just consistently keep it movin’ wit your greatness! Glad you puttin’ lots of music out there! Keep up tha great work wit who you hire for your production and features!

01. “Walk Light” feat. Scotty Cain & Maine Musik
Kickin’ it off wit some of dis… >>> Nice lil’ intro from DJ Chill, here, and this beat’s pretty tight! Definitely somethin’ nice! Feelin’ tha hook, here; jammin’ and good street shit! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; definitely some nice shit, here! Can’t complain! Y’all pros at dis!! Tha 2nd verse pretty consistent wit these rhymes; definitely nice! You know what was also nice? I just went to my job to get somethin’ 20 minutes ago and they all went nuts over me! They all were wonderin’ where I was and they even said that I was “a celebrity!” Gotta thank DJ B-Real fa tha celebrity status!! Too bad he don’t want none of my star power! And, saved tha best fa last? You on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit your “yeah” commands, lol! My Rating: 4.7

02. “Nowhere” feat. Maine Musik & Dame Cain
Likin’ all these Maine Musik collabs! >>> Mouse doin’ tha beat? Lookin’ forward ta hearin’ this! Definitely soundin’ nice fa tha streetz, here! Good shit on tha hook, here! Good shit on tha 1st verse from Maine, doin’ tha damn thang, consistently! And, we got you on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through, aimin’ right! And, Dame Cain on tha 3rd verse, spittin’ it like it’s nothin’; nice! My Rating: 4.5

03. “Trust Issues” feat. Jamar Major & Yani
Let’s get it!! >>> Nice lil’ southern beat wit you spittin’ some good shit on tha 1st verse, here; dope! Tha hook aight, but I’m not too crazy about tha voice… I won’t 100% hate on it, since you tend to make good tracks, Zoe… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from you and it sounds good ta hear, once again… And, anotha annoying voice toward tha end… It may’ve just been a lil’ bridge instead of a verse, but it’s ehh… My Rating: 3.8

04. “Rumors” feat. Kennedy Dha Boogieman & Dame Cain
Let’s see this Boogie Man…! >>> Mouse doin’ tha beat; leggo! Nice lil’ hook from you, here! It reminds me of how you always are, from when I first heard you wit dat Nu$$ie “Snitch” collab from last decade! You just lay down tha hook nice and calm, but you, literally, tha greatest!! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice from you, layin’ down tha facts! Gotta show you buku luv; followin’ me on Twitter’s a highlight! Really feelin’ tha 2nd verse, here, wit tha spellin’ of “R-U-M-O-R-S” and “D-E-A-D;” dope shit from Dha Boogie Man!! Excellent job with tha verse!! Tha 3rd verse from Mr. Cain sounds nice ta hear with tha consistent “oh-oh”-soundin’ rhymes… My Rating: 4.6

05. “Ventin’ A Lil’ Bit”
No features? Hope you gon hold it down (of course)! >>> Sounds like a lil’ calm beat, but it would feel better to me wit warm weather! Not bad wit how you comin’ through on tha 1st verse… Lol, you stuck on tha “rumors,” still, lol? I can tell; you mentioned tha word, already! I like how you said tha last set of lines in tha 1st verse, holdin’ tha notes (“shiiiit;” “diiiiick”); nice! Said tha title before tha hook (just talkin’) like it was tha ‘90s. That’s what I do when it comes to tha rappin’…! Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 2nd verse, comin’ through, doin’ you… My Rating: 4.0

06. “True Colors” feat. Yani
Not really anticipatin’ tha feature, since that previous feature with Yani kinda had its issues… >>> And, tha unanticipatin’ feelin’ came “true”: Cyndi Lauper remake on tha hook? Bleh… Might as well not leave feedback for tha hook… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad wit how you comin’ through wit it… “I smell somethin’ fishy…, tuna!” Boom!! And, you comin’ through on tha 2nd verse in a nice way, too; can’t deny it, at times… I do have to admit, I do like when tha hook remakes, “That’s why I love you,” to, “That’s why, it’s, ‘fuck you!’” My Rating: 3.7

07. “Pain” feat. Q-Red
Let’s hear it!! >>> Q-Red doin’ tha beat, of course! Tha same “Hound” from Kevin Gates’ “Shit Could Get Real”? Ain’t really know much about them Hounds… A long intro, but it’s payin’ off with this intense-soundin’ production! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice! Yeah, you gotta admit, life’s choices are tough! Q-Red wit tha guitar’s pretty nice! And, even nicer: Him on tha hook! Definitely A+! You on tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ pretty nice! Definitely a nice collab! My Rating: 4.7

08. “Penitentiary EP”
Let’s hear this “EP”! >>> Oh boy, a B-Real beat! Damn, 7:56 on tha length?! Can’t be true!! Gotta feel that celeb status, tho!! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice wit how you comin’ through wit it on this interesting, slow beat! Interesting rhymes, but a lil’ too much? Like, why almost eight minutes? Even tha outro’s, like, 1:30! My Rating: 3.5

09. “A Whole Notha Mode”
>>> Feelin’ this beat and how you comin’ through on tha hook, chantin’ it up! Good shit! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice wit how you flowin’ on tha track… Tha 2nd verse pretty dope, too! Glad you havin’ fun wit this shit! Tha only cat that can prolly make “Duck, Duck, Goose” tight! My Rating: 4.4

½time: Doin’ pretty good, so far, of course! I ain’t doubt ya! Surprisingly, tha B-Real-produced track was tha least-rated, due to how long it was without transitioning… A few weird-soundin’ guests, but for tha most part, tha production’s on point and so are your tracks! A 4.2-rated CD, so far!

10. “Big Girls” feat. Kevin Gates
I believe I heard this from tha Bloody Murda (Promo EP)… Ironically, just like tha B-Real one, this was my lowest-ranked on that EP! My Current Rating: 4.2

11. “Shooters” feat. Yani, Racked-Up Ready & Rambo K-Kutta
Let’s hear it, despite tha Yani feature… >>> Sounds like a good beat, kinda like a throwback to that “Watch My Shoes”/Mouse/older Baton Rouge-soundin’ beats! Well, if this was Yani gon provide on tha hook, hopefully, that’s it! Sounds good; don’t need anything extra! Here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ through in a nice way, here! Ready on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through nicely on tha track, too! It’s almost like he even has a throwback vibe to his flow, too, like them ’07 dayz! Keepin’ it goin’ wit Rambo on tha 3rd verse, soundin’ nice ta hear, as well! Good shit; nice collab! My Rating: 4.6

12. “Get It How U Live” feat. Scotty Cain, Maine Musik, Dame Cain & T.E.C.
Anotha big collab!! >>> “Take it back to tha dayz of tha old?” Have I heard before? Don’t look familiar… Mouse on tha beat, here, and it’s pretty jammin’! Definitely diggin’ tha title repeatin’ in tha background! Nice job wit this hook; tight-ass shit! Sounds like some Juve/Lil’ Wayne/Hot Boy$-type shit from tha late ‘90s! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty serious, too! Definitely feelin’ tha vibe y’all bringin’ to tha table! Hook’s definitely serious wit how y’all bringin’ it! Can’t deny this shit!! You sound good wit how you bringin’ tha heat on this track; dumb shit! My Rating: 4.8

13. “U Ain’t Got Dhat 2 Do” feat. Kennedy Dha Boogieman & Maine Musik
Let’s hear it! Did y’all run outta room on tha back cover or somethin’? >>> Sounds like it’s a good lil’ track based off tha beginning… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and you spittin’ some good facts… Tha hook sounds decent; can’t deny it… Hearin’ Dha Boogieman on tha 2nd verse and he sound cool; can’t deny him! Rhymes and punchlines are dope! Maine Musik on tha 3rd verse and it sounds great, as always. However, why iz it that I’ve been always hearin’ reversed names or whateva? Like, why it gotta be censored? It’s crazy! He even said, “Watch what you say!” It’s like, “Watch what you say?!” My Rating: 4.3

14. “Nah” feat. Maine Musik, Dame Cain & T.E.C.
>>> Sounds like a cool lil’ track wit tha “nah” on tha hook! I like how it’s kinda meant for ‘now’ and sounds good ta be “Nah”! Nice job wit tha hook, Zoe! Here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit dat good shit… Tha 2nd verse soundin’ good; almost sounds like a younger Lil’ Cali or somethin’… I see tha names are reversed on tha back cover, as opposed to tha tracklist on tha mp3 info… Well, with that bein’ said, Maine Musik before Dame Cain… Nice job wit tha collaboration between tha 3rd verse, tho; feelin’ it… My Rating: 4.4

15. “Honey Love”
Like Gloria, a “honey!” >>> Ain’t expect an R&B-type track outta nowhere, but I like how you sound in tha beginning… Let’s see how we gon do wit Q-Red doin’ this beat… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it ain’t too bad; definitely likin’ tha beat, lol… Tha hook’s a ‘90s sample; decent, but not bad… Hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear, as well… Tha rest of this was pretty nice; definitely likin’ tha hook, too, lol… Speakin’ of Gloria from my job, lol, even mentioned “lemon” on tha sample, toward tha end! “How are tha lemons?!,” every morning!! My Rating: 3.9

16. “Used 2 Be In Love Witcha” feat. Yani
Now, I’ono if this’ll compare to Glor’s “Honey [Love]”! >>> Yeah, this kinda less-exciting than tha previous track but it’s whateva wit Yani on tha hook… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it decent… You ain’t wanna do a 2nd verse? Yani on tha 2nd verse; not interested in most of these rhymes… Neva mind, it iz you on tha 2nd verse but that was a lil’ extended of a hook from Yani, earlier… Hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse and it ain’t bad, once again; can’t complain… My Rating: 3.1

17. “Judas”
>>> Music before my job existed? Now, we got Gotye & Kimbra “Somebody That I Used To Know” on tha sample, here… It’s crazy ‘cause back when that song was big, four years ago, I was still pretty serious about all these reviewz and all this Louisiana shit. So, for it to be sampled, I almost feel like we in tha same world. Well, we really not…! B-Real used to care about me/be connected wit me! It’s all good, tho! Luv music before my job existed! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ catchy wit how you comin’ through ova this beat… Hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse, here, and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear, as well… My Rating: 4.2

18. “Another Man”
>>> Endin’ it with a Q-Red beat; let’s see, here… Kinda sounds like it gon be sad or somethin’? I’ono how serious I can take this beat, as it’s kinda poppy. However, it has its quality? You on tha 1st verse ain’t too bad, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s bleh…; nothin’ really goin’ on wit tha sample… And, hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t bad; nothin’ I can really say, tho… My Rating: 2.6

Overall: I have to say, tha front and back cover to this CD’s definitely dope!! You got them royal colors of black and gold on; dumb shit!! Gotta look up to ya at all times, ya dig?! Too much grindin’, to where I had a headache and had to nap for a few hours before I got to finish this… But, anyway, I thought you did a nice job wit this! Makes me excited to know that I have even more to peep out from you! Can’t wait ta hear! Keep tha excellent production crew and features comin’!!

Review #1,603: Mista Cain "Cain"

Reviewed on 12.02.2016 (Review #1,603)

Tryna get these reviewz outta my way… As I get one done, I find, like, anotha one or two! But, I think I’m gettin’ there! Gotta get back to my old Louisiana CD reviewz ASAP! This 1st one for today’s Mista Cain Cain, released on Cain Muzik & Utopia Music Group; let’s see, here… Start Time: 7:06 AM | End Time: 7:39 AM

© 2016 CD Review (Review #1,603) reviewed on 12.02.2016 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. “My Heart”
>>> Beat sounds nice, here, and you rappin’ on tha verse pretty nice ta let “it out.” After tha verse, it ends with a hook; title, title, title… My Rating: 4.1

02. “It’s Real”
>>> A good hook and beat; can’t complain… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and you layin’ da bidness down, when it comes ta livin’ a celebrity’s lifestyle in tha hood… And, tha 2nd verse’s keepin’ it on-n-poppin’, here; catchy shit… My Rating: 4.2

03. “Where Was You”
>>> Can’t catch these new producers’ beat tags… Beat sounds good, just like tha other ones… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s a singer? Not credited? Not bad… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it soundin’ good… And, tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, too; what else can I say? My Rating: 3.7

04. “Affiliated”
>>> That same producer from tha previous track… Kickin’ it off wit tha hook and it sounds catchy on this beat, fa tha streetz… Tha hook ain’t bad, but I don’t fuck wit tha “so I surround myself with rich niggaz” shit; what about broke people? It’s like, you don’t wanna help anyone out? Fuck that! But yeah, decent at its finest with these verses… My Rating: 3.9

05. “Jealous”
>>> This sounds like tha best production outta all tha tracks, so far; nice lil’ Baton Rougeness at its finest! Tha hook straight; tha streetz have been supplied… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it sounds good ta hear on this beat… Tha 2nd verse sounds good, except how you ended it with, “When I wrote this verse, I had 30 grand on me;” why tha impossible? Not really impossible, but why tha cocky bullshit? My Rating: 4.0

06. “Set It Off”
>>> Almost thought it was auto-tune in tha beginning and I was ready to skip it! An okay hook; an okay beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s whateva… I’m not tha one to like rap about “money,” tho. I’ono, these rhymes ain’t nothin’ special ta me… Just sounds like err-body else tryna shine or show off, smh… My Rating: 3.4

½time: This ain’t too bad of a CD, tho nothin’ really standin’ out fa me… A 3.9-rated CD, so far…

07. “War Ready” feat. Dee Jackson
Not tha D. Jackson I know (producer from Baton Rouge)? Someone different? >>> Of course, right when a name iz taken by someone else, tha newer person tends to make things sound gayer, smh… Not really feelin’ tha voice of Dee Jackson on tha 1st verse, here! Sounds like annoying rap that be out now! And then, we got you, which you rap regular, at first, and then, speed it up? Not tha right mix fa me… My Rating: 2.7

08. “Whip” feat. John Dha Baptist & Spitta
>>> Beat sounds cool from our main producer on this CD… A simple hook but it goes over better than “money” and “baby mama” bullshit! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it soundin’ aight… Spitta on tha 2nd verse and he soundin’ nice on this, as always! Can’t complain about him holdin’ it down! Oh wait, y’all done fucked up wit tha ID! That was John Dha Baptist on tha 2nd verse (they almost sound tha same)! With that bein’ said, nice job… Hearin’ Spitta (yeah, this time, it’s Spitta) on tha 3rd verse and he soundin’ good! Pretty much, it’s tha same feedback I had for tha 2nd verse… My Rating: 4.2

09. “No Shootas” feat. Scotty Cain
I recognize this one but not with Scotty Cain; redone? >>> Still feelin’ tha Godfather-sampled beat! Good addition from Scotty, here. I feel like I can neva detect his voice, tho; it ain’t consistent to me… My Rating: 4.4

10. “Grimy”
You have an extra “M” in tha title… >>> Beat good, like tha usual Baton Rouge-soundin’ street anthems… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s soundin’ good; can’t complain… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad… And, tha 2nd verse ain’t bad… It’s more of a quantity of tracks than quality, here; you always make music… My Rating: 4.0

11. “Lil’ Baby”
>>> Beat cool, as always; hook straight… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it iz what it iz… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and ain’t it nice that you got a chick? My Rating: 3.8

12. “Make The Newz” feat. T2
I had thought this was familiar, as it was featured on Big Jay’s Pyrex Radio Vol. 7: Sex, Drugs & Money, released in 2014. B-Real produced this one and it looks like it’s tha best one on here… My Current Rating: 4.6

Overall: Turned out to be an okay CD… Pretty much each track was nice, except for tha Dee Jackson collab… Most of what you did here was just quick tracks, which was nice for tha quantity of your collection of tracks… Let’s see what tha future gon bring fa tha 2K17!

Review #1,602: Geeno "Soul Muzik"

Reviewed on 12.01.2016 (Review #1,602)

I’ono about my next review, here, with it bein’ on tha R&B side… Geeno Soul Muzik, released in 2013 on Small Circle Kartel Entertainment… Start Time: 6:25 PM | End Time: 7:27 PM

© 2016 CD Review (Review #1,602) reviewed on 12.01.2016 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. “Ever Loved Somebody”
G-Motive on tha beat… >>> Beat ain’t too bad, here… You’re settin’ a decent vibe with your singin’, here… Tha hook ain’t too bad with a sample, surprisingly… My Rating: 3.1

02. “Come Home”
You produced this one… >>> I kinda like this singin’ a lil’ betta but this still ain’t really up my alley… You sound good wit tha singin’ but I’ono how much regular people can take this serious, as far as a mainstream appeal or somethin’… My Rating: 3.2

03. “Dance The Night Away”
Julio on tha beat… >>> Titled “Dance With You” on DatPiff… I ain’t really feelin’ or anticipatin’ this voice… Ehh, can’t really say much about this; just a usual attempt at today’s R&B… My Rating: 1.7

04. “All My Love”
G-Motive beat… >>> Even slower but not too bad, so far… Ehh, kinda dead-beat but it ain’t bad-bad… My Rating: 2.3

05. “Bad Girl”
>>> May not be my type of music to anticipate, but this beat intro got me hyped! Even referencin’ R. Kelly & Big Tigger’s “Snake”, too… Tha hook sounds pretty nice and this soundin’ like it’s flowin’ in a special way… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ good, too; can’t complain… Could this be my top-rated one? My Rating: 3.7

06. “Cater 2 U” feat. Nino & Doe Boy
Same thing with this title… BeatMonstaz on tha beat… >>> I think tha title on tha DatPiff tracklist looks betta as “Dedicated 2 U” than just “Cater 2 U”…? Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad fa singin’… Rappin’ on tha 2nd verse, here; consistent shit, Doe Boy, even tho I don’t think tha fastness fits this vibe… Fuck! Tha ID threw me off on tha back cover! Tha DatPiff one got it right wit Nino before Doe Boy… Aight, here comes Doe Boy on tha 3rd verse and it sounds good… Even tho I don’t fuck wit this shit, his shit with tha “R. Kelly” music reference makes good for a lil’ fuckin’, right? My Rating: 2.7

07. “#2”
??? >>> Big Wayne doin’ tha beat… I actually like how this sounds fa a slow one and tha hook ain’t too bad… Rappin’ on tha 1st verse, here, soundin’ decent… Here you are on tha 2nd verse, singin’, soundin’ decent… More rappin’ goin’ on, here, on tha 3rd verse, soundin’ aight… And, more rappin’ on tha 4th verse, soundin’ nice… I’ono who all tha rappers are, tho; doesn’t say, anywhere? My Rating: 3.5

08. “Change Yo Life” feat. Lil’ Mook
Kinda scarin’ me wit these no-producer tracks… >>> It did say a producer in tha beginning, but I couldn’t catch who it was… Beat sounds a lil’ upbeat but tha quality of tha audio sounds a lil’ on tha undaground/low quality side… Tha hook aight; can’t really say anything on it… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Mook and tha rappin’ sounds cool, here, keepin’ it southern… You on tha 2nd verse and it ain’t too bad… My Rating: 2.8

09. “Uncomparable”
??? >>> Big Wayne on tha beat… It sounds decent, here, on tha hook… Kinda boring and draggin’, but it iz what it iz… My Rating: 2.6

½time: So far, outta tha back cover’s tracks, I ain’t hear “Like Ohh” (produced by B-Real & NeilOnDaTrack), “Thank They Know” (produced by WeThaFewture), “You Wrong” (feat. Drell & produced by B-Real) & “The Forecast” (produced by B-Real). It’s like, talk about unexpectedly avoidin’ B-Real! But yeah, I don’t really come here to review R&B music that’s on tha boring side… So far, only a 2.8 for tha CD rating…

10. “Sorry” feat. Nino
Don Julio on tha beat (full name?)… >>> Not anticipatin’ this sorrow shit… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s bleh…!! You on tha 1st verse and it’s aight… Nino on tha 2nd verse, really lovin’ “this relationship,” as he don’t “wanna quit!” My Rating: 2.1

11. “Dey Call Me”
WeThaFewture beat… >>> Really? WTF (lol) are tha “you know I made tha beat” people, smh? Fuck that! Kinda likin’ that this more on tha rap side, as far as tha production… Kinda likin’ how you comin’ through on tha 1st verse, as if Ginuwine was havin’ fun or somethin’… Tha hook sounds pretty anthemic; ain’t expect this hyped-upness… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, too, even tho there’s a lotta big dreams bein’ displayed on tha track, here… My Rating: 3.4

12. “Lovers & Friends” feat. Blvd Jay & Roota
Wasn’t anticipatin’ this title, as I thought it was gon go a Lil’ Jon & The Eastside Boyz & Usher route. However, Big Wayne produced this, so hopefully, it’s a lil’ betta? >>> Looks like I was right about tha remake; bleh… Sounds betta than usual shit on here for a production from Big Wayne, but ehh… You on tha 1st verse and I ain’t really got anythang ta say about it… Tha 2nd verse iz you again, soundin’ a lil’ catchy wit tha flow, here… Blvd Jay on tha 3rd verse, layin’ down some rhymes… Jay + Big Wayne on tha combination sounds like a good lil’ Baton Rouge rap song, overall… And, a 4th verse: Roota comin’ through, comparin’ tha “bitch” to a “new brick;” dope… Basically, I only came here for tha rappin’… My Rating: 2.2

13. “Your Love”
??? >>> Big Wayne beat; Big Wayne produced a bunch of these tracks that are not on tha back cover… Beat’s kinda plain with a few catchy sounds and you sound decent on this… Nothin’ much ta say about this, overall… My Rating: 2.5

14. “Tell Me”
No producer listed… >>> Just decent, once again… My Rating: 2.0

15. “Something Out Of Nothing” feat. Lil’ Bone & Drell
No producer listed… >>> A lil’ more jammin’… Even on an R&B CD/track like this, there’ll be “money” rappin’, smh… Either way, nice to just randomly hear a Bone verse, I guess? Drell sounds nice wit tha rappin’ on tha 2nd verse, too… Kinda glad this was more on tha rappin’ side, compared to tha R&B vibe of this CD… And, endin’ it wit you singin’… My Rating: 3.3

16. “Finally Here”
Don Julio on tha beat… >>> Decent; nothin’ much ta say, once again… My Rating: 2.4

17. “Stressing Me” feat. Rundy
Endin’ it with a no-producer track? >>> This iz what it iz… Rundy sounds nice and hyped-up wit tha rappin’, tho! My Rating: 2.9

Overall: Not really an R&B type of person… This shit was decent fa an R&B CD, even tho I ain’t rate it too high… I was wonderin’ why all those tracks on tha back cover I ain’t hear on here? Also, some tracks were in tha folder and not on tha back cover? Confusing…

Rankings:
