Review #1,207: Bic Jack "I'on Play 2.5 (The Mixtape)"

Reviewed on 9.30.2012 (Review #1,207)

Comin’ up next iz a Dawgmadik Records presentation: Bic Jack, anotha one from ‘someone’s’ label that seemed to have stayed in my life longer (‘cause I keep it all tha way official, 100% of tha time)! Here’s his revamped CD called I’on Play 2.5 (The Mixtape)! Funny how on DatPiff, you uploaded this mixtape a year to tha day (April 14 style) from tha 2nd I’on Play; was that planned, lol? If so, that’s an official attribute! Start Time: 10:41 AM | End Time: 11:06 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2012 CD Review (Review #1,207) reviewed on 9.30.2012 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. “I’on Play”
>>> Feelin’ tha “I’on play” thang goin’ on, here; it’s like tha “I’on” anthem, lol! Rhymes are definitely catchy, here; you really keep thangz official to tha fullest! I’ve always liked your voice a lot on tha hooks of your tracks; you got character in yourself! My Rating: 4.4

02. “In My Mix”
>>> Sounds like a good beat ta rap on; hope this iz good… Oh wow, lovin’ tha character in your X-rated rhymes!! Real nice job wit this track, includin’ tha beat choice! I like tha “you cool” shit on tha hook; tell them haterz off! Huh? What happened to tha 2nd verse? At 1:42, it just skipped to tha next hook… Even though fucked up for a “mix” (lol), this joint’s definitely hot! My Rating: 4.3

03. “Ask About Me” Feat. Louisiana Ca$h
I remember you tellin’ me you’re cool wit Louisiana Ca$h; let’s hear this collaboration! >>> Sounds like a gutta BR-type song wit tha hook and possibly, original production; really stabbin’ caution inta tha listeners/haterz on tha 2nd ½ of tha hook! Definitely nice job wit tha rhymes and what you’re spittin’, here, on tha 1st verse!! Hearin’ Ca$h on tha 2nd verse, and he’s got a future for tha haterz wit this “found in a ditch” shit; definitely some catchy shit, includin’ how he random will “stick dick up in [their] girl!” My Rating: 4.5

04. “Respect Me”
>>> I’on know why I thought that was T.I. in tha beginning wit dat voice, lol; you and your catchy voice! Ooh, smoothin’ tha hook a lil’ bit out wit a sing-rap style; I’m actually feelin’ this! “Label only gave me one stack to drop beats and do hooks;” this liine reminded me of somethin’, whether it has ta do wit it or not. Either way, doesn’t it feel shitty to get ditched, randomly? I’m guilty of this! :( Sometimes, freebies can be a curse! But, good job wit tha verses and how you’re comin’ through fa those that should “respect [you]!” My Rating: 4.1

05. “When I Want Some”
>>> Sounds a lil’ quieter here…; can I picture tha dark? Oh, sex wit tha dark! Not much goin’ on wit tha hook? Guess it’s a quieter sex song? Or, was that just an intermission? Not too bad, overall… My Rating: 3.7

06. “I’on Owe A Nigga Shit”
Love tha title! >>> Jammin’ start; “I must be smellin’ myself!” LOL, Jack and your style! Feelin’ tha attitude on tha hook; gutta “shit” wit a gutta mouth! “All you gon want fa Christmas iz fo’ front teeth;” whoa! Glad you got some sort of an attitude goin’ on here, when it comes ta wantin’ ta punch a dude out! My Rating: 4.3

07. “It’s Safe To Say” Feat. D Dub
D Dub not on tha feature, but on tha DatPiff information, so I’ll know to put him in tha feature! >>> Sounds a lil’ smooth; not too bad, overall… I like how you’re descriptive wit your “sex” rhymes… Hook doesn’t sound too bad for a singer bein’ on it. However, shouldn’t this be, like, tha final song on tha mixtape? Almost a lil’ long, too, for a mixtape. My Rating: 3.6

08. “Ain’t Gott’em All”
>>> Sounds like a catchy song; nothin’ too much ta say about tha rhymes you spittin’, here; tha hook’s a good, catchy hook, though. My Rating: 3.9

½time: Nice job, Jack; keep up tha great work, Dawgmadik style! 4.1 for tha CD rating, currently!

09. “Streets Keep Holdin’ Me Back” Feat. Deville
Deville on tha feature (not listed on back cover)… >>> Sounds like an interestin’ mix between singin’ and some street content. Glad to have a vacationin’-Jack doin’ tha damn thang wit enjoyin’ himself; thumbs up ta you, Jack!  My Rating: 3.8
EDIT: This was 8 seconds ‘til I resaved it; now, tha length iz back to normal.

10. “Thuggin’”
>>> I can’t agree wit people chargin’ “for a feature;” features should be based off of mutual friendships, not money! Nobody should rap for tha money! Anyway, likin’ this “thuggin’” hook; keep this shit up wit your character and attitude! My Rating: 4.2

11. “Goin’ All Out” Feat. Dirty Harry
Interestin’ collaboration… >>> Interestin’ singin’ on tha hook; sounds like this gon be an anthem for tha streetz, where you at! Sounds like you’re ready ta invite a “bitch” ova and get it on, lol! As far as Dirty Harry, I’m likin’ his “attitude” and how it’s on some I’on Play-type shit! My Rating: 4.2

12. “Thinkin’ It’s A Joke”
>>> Stuck in some good “pussy”? Sounds like an interestin’ trap, like a bee hive, lol! Not bad wit all these rhymes, overall; glad you’re not “a joke!” My Rating: 3.9

13. “You Da 1 For Me”
>>> Ehh, a lil’ poppy for me wit tha rhymes, even though you’re tryin’ ta pursue an R&B vibe, here… My Rating: 3.3

14. “Another Way Out” Feat. J.R.
>>> Nice beat start; I guess J.R. bein’ on tha feature helps tha anticipation out, here? Tha hook sounds good, but no need to have a “way out” ‘cause tha “dope game” seems to be why your rhymes are good… Either way, nice job wit your two verses and J.R. makes a nice appearance here, too! Thumbs up fa his history in tha streetz ta come through fa this track! We’re all like tha ones that got left out, if you know what I mean! :( But, it seems to be betta to be left out than have someone control you! My Rating: 4.2

15. “Gangsta & Pimp’d Out”
>>> Nice “gangsta & pimp’d out” vibe, here! Beat’s nice and slower, as well as you showin’ off what you “be ‘bout!” You and your “gangsta” rhymes; gotta luv it! Maybe, we’ll see some action on a video real soon? My Rating: 4.1

16. “My Own Thang”
>>> Why did tha beginning sound cut off? Iz this one of those songs that got screwed up again? I remember havin’ to re-save tha song in an audio-editing program for it to add in my iTunes; weird… But, this ain’t too bad for a joint, overall; good for an ending, wit a lil’ bit of a lost, hypnotic feel to it? Glad you ‘bout your “own thang!” My Rating: 4.0

Overall: I like how you didn’t put any songs from tha I’on Play 2 on here; it’s all about lettin’ those faggy times of ’11 go, and I’m glad you agree wit me! Keep grindin’, my boy!

Review #1,206: Low Down "Street Contract"

Reviewed on 9.30.2012 (Review #1,206)

End of tha month, time ta do some reviewz b4 tha month ends… First up, Masta Mind Entertainment’s Low Down, not to be confused wit tha Ville Plate Low-Down (with a dash in his name); this Low Down’s from Denham Springs & Prairieville. Here’s my review for his latest CD, Street Contract. Start Time: 9:55 AM | End Time: 10:17 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! © 2012 CD Review (Review #1,206) reviewed on 9.30.2012 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. Intro
>>> You sound like a tight dude. LOL, this intro would sound all reversed if radio-edited ‘cause of tha delayed echoes! My Rating: N/A

02. “Low Down”
Self-titled? >>> Prolly could do without this sample; why tha ‘70s-soundin’ beat? Rappin’ and voice iz good, although tha rappin’ sounds all jumbled in this not-called-for beat! My Rating: 3.1

03. “Glock Tucked”
>>> “Side 2 Side” comin’ outta nowhere? Thought all tha beats would be original or online… Anyway, sounds a lil’ random wit tha rhymes and shit, once again. My Rating: 2.5

04. “Round Town” Feat. Gutta Baby & John B
>>> This ain’t too bad, overall; I actually am diggin’ this laidback vibe, wit a lil’ bit of soul in tha beat. Tha hook sounds like a good day in tha H-Town? Almost was gonna criticize it for bein’ too long, but if you say this iz an “album,” then it’s acceptable. However, if it was a “mixtape,” no way! Sounds like a good collaboration between tha three of y’all; feels like you can’t help but ta drive in a car forever! My Rating: 4.0

05. “Get Rich”
>>> Why’d tha beat turn acoustic? I like tha ‘90s feel, but not tha acoustic feel! Tha rhymes sound pretty good, here, and you’re doin’ a good job spittin’ that gangsta shit ta “protect [your] family.” My Rating: 3.6

06. “Toat My Shit” Feat. Icky
Everytime I see tha word “toat,” I think it’s a toad, lol. >>> I like tha beginning, how you’re talkin’ about hidin’ your shit within your “boxers” and shit. Once again, tha beat changed from tha beginning, but at least it sounds like it’s on some g-shit; definitely a nice joint/hook! Pretty scary ta “toat [your] shit” frequently; glad I’ve neva toated anything ever, and how most of my family believes in not havin’ a gun in tha house for safety reasons. Likin’ tha 2nd verse wit that voice and shit, even though some of tha lyrics don’t compare to tha hook and 1st verse! Can’t “make it rain,” here! My Rating: 4.1

07. “If It Ain’t One Thang” Feat. Gutta Baby
>>> Beat sounds like a café, here… Kinda sounds good, but funny; Gutta Baby seems to make tha hook sound pretty nice, though, wit his voice and flow. You do a nice job wit tha rhymes, but I think this iz good for a Gutta Baby song; nice 2nd verse! Fast rhymes, great lyrics, and tha voice ta hold shit down! My Rating: 3.9

08. Skit
>>> Sounds like a great skit, dark style? I love how y’all use y’all dialect ta talk; black people will always rule!!! My Rating: N/A

½time: You sound pretty good, although tha CD’s just decent for me, so far; 3.5 for tha CD rating, currently.

09. “Like A Man”
>>> Rhymes are good, but beat’s a lil’ boring for me; really? Almost 4.5 minutes long? My Rating: 3.2

10. “Stay Wit Me”
I hate how this DatPiff tracklisting’s messed up from tha back cover; annoying… >>> You sound like a gigglin’ teddy bear or somethin’ wit tha “stay wit me, baby” shit. Unless this iz orgasmic, this sounds corny for me, and this beat ain’t really for me. If it’s a conversation, at least it’s a different flow. My Rating: 2.7

11. “Tipsy”
>>> Tha echoed words are distracting… Sounds like a random club banger that can sound good, but doesn’t sound like it has value to it or anything… My Rating: 3.4

12. “How I Live Foreal” Feat. Gutta Baby & G-1
>>> Beat ain’t too bad, here; this struggle y’all rappin’ about sounds good for tha lyrics, here. Even tha singin’ on tha hook ain’t too bad, too; good collaboration, especially Gutta Baby and his anti “rap video” perspective on “how” he lives! My Rating: 3.8

13. “Structure”
>>> A smooth joint that ain’t too bad—ooh, x-rated rhymes, lol! Also, likin’ that this iz only 2:06; nice and quick! My Rating: 4.0

14. “Steady Stackin’” Feat. Gutta Baby
Gutta Baby’s featured, but not on tha back cover, smh? >>> Likin’ tha beat, although it sounds Three 6ish… But, nice job wit tha hook; Gutta Baby comin’ through wit his hood’s G-shit! You’re comin’ through wit some G-shit, too; good shit… My Rating: 4.1

15. “Hell Of A Life (Freestyle)”
It’s a freestyle, accordin’ to tha filename on DatPiff… >>> Sounds catchy wit some of your rhymes; decent… My Rating: 3.7

16. “Time 2 Go”
>>> I like that tha beat has a faster vibe, but it sounds jacked for me; tha hook’s catchy wit this random girl, although this iz soundin’ a lil’ random wit tha rhymes… My Rating: 3.6

17. “Holla Gangsta” Feat. Gutta Baby
LOL, not on tha back cover, randomly? This must be “Holla Gangsta” w/Gutta Baby; I’ll put it as tha 17th track… >>> Nice beat you’re rappin’ on, here; Gutta Baby’s not really gutta, but strictly “gangsta” wit this shit! Should be called Gangsta Baby, or G-Baby? Naw, just keep your name, I’m just playin’! Great job wit tha collaboration and kick-ass attitude! My Rating: 4.1

Overall: Thumbs up, for tha most part; mainly decent, but there wasn’t too much that was bad for me…

Review #1,204: Slim Reaper "#Reloaded"

Reviewed on 9.25.2012 & 9.26.2012 (Review #1,204)

Got a fresh, new review for y’all! Overdose Entertainment presents Slim Reaper #Reloaded! Start Time: 11:59 PM | End Time: 9.26.2012 @ 11:29 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! 01. Dolby Intro
DJ Dolby D, here, on tha beat and intro! >>> So, Dolby D’s tha one wit tha “Devious” tag, all along? Sounds all H-Townish on tha vocals/samples, lol. My Rating: N/A

02. “Reloaded”
A Shaun Andrew production. >>> Sounds like a real nice beat wit tha trancey-kinda sound! Also, really likin’ your “rapidly” rhymin’ on tha 1st verse!! Why does it sound like Yo Gotti’s on this? Too bad that’s a turn-off for me, since it’s soundin’ like a sample (due to not listin’ in tha ID anywhere?); I’m friggin’ confused now! My Rating: 4.3

03. “Go Off”
KLC beat! >>> Beat sounds like a game that’s ‘bout ta begin, in a great way!! Are you a chameleon when rappin’? You can sound like a bunch of different people… A lil’ quote-y on tha 1st verse, at times, but it’s not bad ova this beat. Tha 2nd verse sounds like an interestin’ street journey from you, as well as you tellin’ people what’s good on yo end. Tha 3rd verse sounds interestin’ wit your voice and how these rhymes stay interestin’; Slim Reaper lifestyle! My Rating: 4.4

04. “Rollin’ With The Heat” Feat. Calicoe The Champ & Dirty Harry
!!! >>> Sounds like a hit song wit tha singin’ hook; nice on this almost-“Dey Know” beat! Calicoe’s on tha 1st verse, and it’s best you be a part of tha Overdose fam, or stay in-tune wit what they’re always doin’!! SMH @ tha cut-off feature list? Dirty Harry’s on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit a consistent verse, it sounds like. Great job from some Grand Theft Audio Music’s own, reppin’ hard! Here you are on tha 3rd verse, wit a dark, Slim Thug-like voice! Good job wit your own style; so southern! My Rating: 4.4

Intermission: Oh, MTV2 wit their new episode of Guy Code; gotta watch it! I’m gettin’ a lil’ tired, so I dunno if I can get through this whole CD tonight… *Intermission Time: 12:13 AM* *Intermssion ends 1:51 AM* Ahh, too tired, I guess? I gon wake up and see if this tha 1st thing I do in tha morning…*Returns at 10:32 AM* Woke up late, and this iz tha 1st thing I’m doin’…

05. “Rollin’”
Same song? This time, Craig B’s on tha beat. >>> Sounds like an old-soundin’ song; real nice, laidback vibe! Production’s real nice and you’re comin’ through wit a nice ridin’ vibe on tha 1st verse, to where it sounds like nothin’ could go wrong in life! Strictly “I-10 crusin’” on tha 2nd verse, doin’ ya thang; nice job wit this shit… Tha 3rd verse iz all about travelin’; I hope to do nothin’ but non-stop travelin’ soon; I got a beginning goin’ on! My Rating: 4.4

06. “6’7”
Yawn? >>> Since this izn’t original, I’m just gonna skim through this one… Rhymes are good, but I thought they were gonna go harder wit tha voice… Nice job wit tha consistency! My Rating: 4.2

07. “Above The Law”
KLC production! >>> Beat sounds good and consistent, here… You’re comin’ through on tha 1st verse wit a nice, southern vibe… Tha hook sounds nice, once again; it sounds like a lot of this CD reminds me of a nice, long road trip! Tha 2nd verse sounds like you just doin’ you, non-stop…; non-stop! Keepin’ this non-stop grind comin’ through wit tha 3rd verse, too; good shit you got comin’ through tha mic, here! My Rating: 4.3

08. “Ignant” Feat. Mia X
KLC helpin’ out once again, wit Mia on tha feature! >>> Cool-soundin’ beat wit tha sounds, here! Real long beat intro ta keep you anticipated… Here you are on tha 1st verse, and you’re comin’ through wit some nice street shit! Reminds me of tha No Limit dayz, a lil’, where I feel like it’s a Final Fantasy (or Gauntlet Legends) battle zone! Hearin’ tha hook from Mia X, and it sounds pretty nice to hear her outta nowhere! Ooh, even comin’ through on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through like a No Limit souljette! Nice job randomly appearin’, Mia! Let’s see what’s left, here… It’s you on tha 3rd verse, and these rhymes are strictly warzone-y!!! If tha beat was more energetic, it would sound so classic, but at least those snares and shit are in it! My Rating: 4.5

09. “Crazy”
Shaun Andrew beat! >>> Mixin’ Patsy Cline in this? Yea, sped up on tha pitch; can’t bash her, luckily, so you’ll get tha benefit of tha doubt fa this hook… Whoa, almost sounded like one of my now-enemies from Louisiana who can’t afford to pay me back, at first! Glad it’s just you! Rhymes ain’t too bad, here, on tha 1st verse… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse, and you’re right about “hearin’ these yungins” and “feelin’ old quick;” that seems like me! I’m 24 now, and I keep hearin’ people, these dayz, born in tha ‘90s (most suck/are novelty-type rappers)! I mean, ’92, ’93, ’94? Almost feels like an under-12-year-old, at times; I still get those 2008 Nu$$ie-Alive times in my head, thinkin’ that I’m tha age that some of these ’84 babies were, and can’t believe it. I look at all my achievements, but such tha lack I have for in-person communication and bein’ wit certain people… Anyway, tha 3rd verse also sounds like you comin’ through wit some more rhymes that are wit tha times; good job… My Rating: 4.3

½time: Seems like I really like this CD; most of it’s on tha same level for me. Tha average CD rating’s at a 4.4, right now!!!! Gonna eat some breakfast and I’ll be back! *Intermission Start Time: 10:49 AM* *Intermission End Time* 11:02 AM*

10. “Rap Soul Food”
Production from Craig B again! >>> Sounds a lil’ East Coasty wit tha production; quality sounds a lil’ low? Either way, this 1st verse iz pretty consistent wit tha lyrics; good shit… Oh, tha “remember” dayz; who would’ve thought playin’ a cassette tape would be a memory? I “remember” when travellin’ from PA to NY/NY to PA, I’d bring my stereo, bag of cassette tapes from tha radio, and my earphones; neva thought those dayz would go! Just a straight verse, here, so I’ll give you props for freestylin’, here! My Rating: 4.4

11. “Pour” Feat. B-Mac
Shaun Andrew on tha track. >>> Anotha one that sounds pretty good wit how you flow on this beat… Tha hook sounds like a nice party, but a nice, Louisiana/California ‘90s party! Good shit; keep it goin’! Got tha B-Mac dude on tha 2nd verse, and you already know he certified ‘cause he said, “whodie.” Lyrics are a lil’ ehh, at times, but it goes wit this already-good song. You’re back on tha 3rd verse, and yea, still feelin’ tha same about this, but it’s still good… My Rating: 4.0

12. Meat Memoirs
>>> Iz this rappin’? Sounds really sexual wit this “meat” shit? Am I on tha right topic? Yea; very random, outta nowhere, lol! Didn’t expect a skit ta come outta all this consistent rappin’; thumbs up fa includin’ one! Almost sounds like a rhyme toward tha very end! My Rating: N/A

13. “Money Talk” Feat. Overflo
Newbie (?) Overflo on tha feature and beat, here! >>> Sounds like tha newbie on tha 1st verse, and he’s got tha rhymes on lock, includin’ tha beat! Almost like a Rick Ross/Wayne-type flow, but at least these rhymes aren’t annoyin’… “Call me Mr. Clean, like his dick’s infected;” pretty strong rhyme… Here you are on tha 2nd verse, and you sound much betta wit tha flow; rhymes are still on a nice vibe! You know I love tha fast shit! “No more rappin’ undaground”? I disagree; whether “money” comes in or not, tha good shit should always stay in tha “undaground!” My Rating: 4.1

14. “Long Way To Go” Feat. Bizz & Mo B Dick
Shout out ta Mo B Dick; I followed him on Twitter, and he followed me back! Also, he’s doin’ tha production, 2012 style!! >>> Beat has a lil’ bit of a ‘90s feel to it, in this ‘10s world we’re livin’ in… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse, and tha lyrics are real nice; “take” all your problems out “wit this pen!” Ahh, hook sounds a lil’ odd wit tha singin’, at first; we’ll see if I can get used ta this… Tha 2nd verse sounds good wit tha nervous breakdown perspective; I feel like that wit tha overload of Louisiana shit I’m behind wit, but I neva stop! My Rating: 3.8

15. “Check My Lifestyle”
Produced by Shaun Andrew. >>> Likin’ tha tracey beginning, once again! Hope this turns out ta be anotha hot one… Tha hook sounds cool fa this; nice and non-stop wit tha title and your “lifestyle!” let’s see what you got wit tha 1st verse… Catchy rhymes; now, I can hear some perseverance! Tha 2nd verse sounds like it’s you on that non-stop grind; good job wit yo ass keepin’ thangz up! Good shit comin’ from you on tha 3rd verse, too; what else can I say about this? My Rating: 4.3

16. “Putcha Hands Up”
Werdna nuahs yb decudorp! … … Oh, whoops, that’s what I said on tha previous preview backwards, lmfao!!! >>> Beat sounds like a nice start and you sound good wit what you’re spittin’…; a lil’ C-Loc-y for tha start flow… However, you got some good shit you got on tha 1st verse, once again. Good shit you spittin’ on tha 2nd verse, too; I like all this “land” shit! You really got your environmental areas on lock, lol! You got some good shit goin’ on wit tha 3rd verse, too; thumbs up wit keepin’ this shit up! My Rating: 4.4

17. “Go For Mine”
>>> Rhymes sound good, right here; tha 1st verse iz good on this beat, but tha 2nd verse wit that fastness iz what’s up!! My Rating: 4.1

18. “Motto”
>>> You sound good rappin’ on this beat; I always like your fastness as much as I like your ‘90s, southern vibe. Strictly rappin’, here, and you doin’ a nice job!! My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Seemed like this was a pretty consistent CD; nothin’ really disappointed me, here! Good job, Slim; keep bein’ tha great Shreveport reprasenta you are!!

Review #1,203: FrankieThaLuckyDog Presents "Tha Louisiana Archives Vol. 11: 11 Holes In! (Hosted by FrankieThaLuckyDog)"

Reviewed on 9.24.2012 (Review #1,203)

Keepin’ it goin’, up next iz FrankieThaLuckyDog Presents Tha Louisiana Archives Vol. 11: 11 Holes In! (Hosted by FrankieThaLuckyDog)! Wanna give a SPECIAL happy birthday to my big dawg, Skull Duggery!!! Start Time: 12:30 PM | End Time: 12:40 PM
