Review #1,720: Prime Time "Duck Tape'n"

Reviewed on 4.29.2017 (Review #1,720)

My next review in my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon iz Prime Time, which iz tha alias for Partners-N-Crime, Duck Tape’n, released in 1998 on South Coast Music Group & was produced by Leroy “Precise” Edwards! Start Time: 1:52 AM | End Time: 2:53 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

You can just feel it! And, Peaches on tha 3rd verse, here, slowly spittin’ some nice rhymes, surprisingly… Lol, what a way to end tha CD: “I got that sticky green stash,” and then, tha CD’s done! Crazy! My Rating: 4.3

05. “Break’em Off Some” feat. Lil’ Slim

11. “Get ‘Em Up Niggaaaaa” feat. Ms. Tee
!!! >>> Sounds good; has a hidden Mardi Gras feel to it in tha background, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s nice; nothin’ ta really say, tho… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s nice, as well… Feelin’ all tha cities bein’ shouted out, here; so many ta name!! There’s mine: “New York niggaz, get ‘em up, my nigga!” Keepin’ it movin’ wit Ms. Tee on tha 2nd verse, here, spittin’ some nice, Jamaican-like rhymes, here; great collab… It’s like if Lady Saw was in tha N.O.! Lol, that’s tha first thang that came to my mind… Seems like this so long… My Rating: 4.1

12. “Hoeshit Ends ’94 Biiitch”
>>> A decent beat ta end thangz off with, that almost sounds like an outro in tha beginning, here… Yeah, just an outro; where’d tha “featuring Ms. Tee” come from? My Rating: N/A

Overall: Most of tha tracks had tha same vibe but it was a good, consistent vibe fa your Louisiana collection. Props to Pimp Daddy; wish there was more out there, today! But, we got this to enjoy…

Keepin’ tha reviewz goin’, my next one iz a lil’ newer than tha current reviewz I’ve been doin’. This next dude found me on Instagram and he’s from Leesville, LA. He goes by Beedy; he’s 26 and his latest project’s called Help The Bear (Hosted by Matt Stone), released on DMPWorld. Start Time: 8:24 PM | End Time: 8:49 PM

01. “Camera Krewe.”
With a period at tha end… Majbeatx on tha beat… >>> I’ono what ta make outta this hook, yet… My first reaction iz bullshit-soundin’ mainstream music so I gon have to see you show off some good, Louisiana talent… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like you have a unique style… I like that “Canon/cannon” part on tha hook, too, thinkin’ ‘bout it… Now, it sounds like tha 2nd verse’s pretty gangsta, here… I have to say, there’s a mix of a lotta shit on this track… I’ll give it a pretty-good rating for my 1st listen, here… My Rating: 4.0

02. “New Pack, Who Dis?” feat. DMPJEFE
>>> Kinda sounds like a good beginning wit tha beat but I’ono about this hook… I’m not really feelin’ these voices throughout tha hook… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and even tho tha rappin’ kinda fast, I’m not too sparked by this… Tha lyrics don’t bring interest to me… If it’s not Louisiana content, I expect it to be spectacular… However, this just sounds like bullshit mainstream music ta me… If I wanted to hear music like this, I’d tune to tha radio or some shit, sadly… I shouldn’t have to take my time out to review bullshit mainstream music, ya dig? Tha other dude kinda on tha same level as you, here… My Rating: 2.5

03. “So Icy” feat. DMPJEFE
>>> A lil’ betta wit tha hook, here; kinda likin’ your rough voice, here… Nothin’ too poppin’ wit tha beat, as it doesn’t even sound like Louisiana music ta me… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like you’re focused on this one… Some of tha lyrics are ehh—once you say, “Money,” I just wanna go to sleep! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and this sounds like a good verse… Consistent rhymin’ at its finest, here, even tho I don’t feel tha lyrics… Even more after tha hook, toward tha end? No more “money” bullshit! Even fadin’ out tha fast rappin’ at tha end… My Rating: 3.1

04. “Yo Favorite Rapper”
Calibaset on tha beat… >>> Kinda sounds a lil’ fun, here? Decent hook and beat, here… Hearin’ you on tha verse and even tho I can’t get into your lyrics, I kinda am feelin’ tha flow and vibe, here… My Rating: 3.7

05. “Back & Forth”
Q’Kaul on tha beat… >>> Just sounds decent; nothin’ crazy, here, wit tha verse and beat… My Rating: 3.0

½time: I’m glad this ain’t draggin’ and that tha tracks go by quick. This way, I’m not sittin’, bored, yawnin’… But, it sounds like you gotta find your own, unique outlet… I feel like you’re mixed into so many different styles at once, with this CD… A 3.3-rated CD, here; gotta do better!

06. “Get It Back” feat. A1Nino
RicoStylin’ on this beat… >>> Not too much into tha beat. It ain’t that bad but it ain’t nothin’ special to spark my interest… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like some good shit to offer, here… So much to absorb at once, which iz good… Hearin’ tha hook about all this “money” shit and my interest just went down tha tubes… Damn @ tha start to tha 2nd verse! “Money” this; “money” that; fuck this verse! My Rating: 2.6

07. “Trap”
Sigma Beats, here… >>> Similar production, once again, but tha hook sounds nice… Hearin’ tha verse and it good; can’t complain wit how you comin’ wit it… Damn, no 2nd verse but over a minute long of a beat outro? A lil’ bit of a fail, here… My Rating: 2.9

08. “Bungalow”
Birdie Bands on this beat… Do I find it real funny that recently, artists Sigma & Birdy released their Drum N Bass-soundin’ track, “Find Me”. Now, both this and tha previous track, tha producers are Sigma Beats & Birdie Bands; wtf, lol, smh, fa’real?!? Trippy!! >>> Well, as much as I’m havin’ it bad at my job, just seein’ 3:26 on tha length (tha person’s birthday), this havin’ auto-tune & all “money” bullshit in tha beginning, I’m just skippin’ this! Fuck this! Next!! My Rating: 1.0

09. “Mad Maxx”
BigHeadOnTheBeat on this beat… >>> Decent beat; decent hook… I’m kinda feelin’ your character on tha verse, here… My Rating: 3.2

10. “Outro” feat. Gineaux & Bri Ailene
>>> I’ono why, but it reminds me of Floetry on tha hook, here? An okay beat but nothin’ to my interest… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like you’re a lil’ aggressive fa this kinda track? Tha 2nd verse pretty nice wit all this “sellin’” shit and highs goin’ on… Could it be one of tha best verses on this CD? Not tha type I’d die for but tha type I’d give credit for… My Rating: 3.3

Overall: Didn’t go over too well… Gotta get your mind outta tha mainstream shithole ‘cause mainstream ain’t tha way to be! I’ll be undaground my whole life and have nothin’ but respect for tha unknown, not tryna sell out! Just avoid tha mainstream, money-type rappin’ and all those beats that sound like Future; you’ll be good…

Review #1,716: Lil' Snap & Hackett "Young N Reckless"

Reviewed on 4.26.2017 (Review #1,716)

As I continue to review, here goes my next one: Section Boyz Records Presents Lil’ Snap & Hackett Young N Reckless, from last year! I actually don’t have a tracklist, so I gon have to just guess titles, as I review this… Start Time: 6:44 PM | End Time: 7:37 PM

01. “Came Back”
>>> That dude with “you know I made tha beat” in their tag’s on tha beat, here (online beat)… “You thought I was gone, but I came back…” iz tha beginning of tha hook; nice lil’ hook, minus tha “big stacks” shit. Maybe, I’ll call this “Came Back”? Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad, here… I can hear tha Baton Rouge voice in tha rappin’, so my interest’s here… It’s an everyday struggle; who knows when we’ll shine? Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s decent; can’t complain too much… My Rating: 3.8

02. “No More Problems”
>>> Just sounds like an online beat, here… “No More Problems,” I should call this? An okay hook but I can’t really fuck wit this “money” shit… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s decent; let’s see what’s next… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse and it’s not bad, here, as well… My Rating: 3.2

03. “Monster” feat. Big Duce
>>> Sounds a lil’ betta, here, between tha beat and how y’all comin’ through on tha 1st verse… No hook, here? Gon be tough fa me to pick a title… Well, let’s just think of it as tha ‘90s: Last word said before tha hook/beat interlude: “Monster”. As far as tha 2nd verse, dude “was born in 1991,” so I’m three years older than dude… Hearin’ tha consistent rappin’ and it’s nice… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse and dude pretty focused, here; definitely feelin’ it! Dude on tha 3rd verse “Big Deuce”? My Rating: 3.8

04. “Straight Gangsta”
>>> “E.P. on tha muthafuckin’ track,” huh? Props fa gettin’ him ta produce… Beat’s nice; hook’s nice, too… “Straight gangsta, this ain’t none of that club shit…;” should I call this “Straight Gangsta”? Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad, here; good shit ta go through this beat… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ decent, too; props fa this, as it’s not bad… My Rating: 3.8

05. “Just Do It”
>>> Interestin’ beat start wit this cuttin’/mixin’? Diggin’ tha club feelin’ in this beat, here, as well as tha 1st verse, here! Just luvin’ tha Baton Rouge dialogue in tha voice; dumb shit! Tha hook’s pretty dope; definitely nice!! Club shit at its finest! “Just Do It” should be tha title? Or, “Dumb In Here”? I’ono which one to pick… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s nice, too; good shit! My Rating: 4.4

06. “Let It Go”
>>> Vybe beat, lol? Really…? “Let It Go” as tha title? Decent hook… Tha 1st verse ain’t bad, here; let’s keep it goin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t bad, as well… My Rating: 3.1

07. “Real Life Shit”
>>> Decent beat…; I’m feelin’ tha Baton Rouge-soundin’ voice goin’ on in tha 1st verse, here; sounds like depression? Sounds good ta hear… “Real Life Shit”; should I call it that? Kinda feelin’ this struggle-like song… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds nice, too… My Rating: 3.5

½time: So far, not too bad… Mainly, decent, except for one tight song… A 3.7-rated CD, currently; let’s keep it movin’!

08. “Weed, Tabs & Dolla Signs”
>>> Sounds like it gon be a Baton Rouge-soundin’ anthem, here, wit this “It’s fuck a nigga” shit in tha beginning… Related to “F.A.N. Ent.?” “Only thing on my mind iz weed, tabs & dolla signs;” nice hook! Luvin’ tha Baton Rouge sound! Should I call this “Weed, Tabs & Dolla Signs”? Tha 1st verse’s pretty nice; luv how this dude luvs “tabs;” damn! “I’m on #6;” crazy! And, why’d dude say, “Nu$$ie,” at tha end of tha 1st verse? Damn @ tha dickridin’! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty dope; luvin’ tha hype! Tha ending was a producer’s tag but I couldn’t ID it… My Rating: 4.5

09. “Waddup”
>>> This sounds like anotha hyped-up Baton Rouge anthem, here! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s nice wit all this “waddup” shit; I’ll call it “Waddup”! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice, here; definitely feelin’ all tha energy! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty energetic, too; gotta luv it! Damn, only 2:45 in and there’s 3:04 left! And, we got a 3rd verse, here; can’t tell who it iz but this shit’s nice, all tha way! “A mill before I see 27?” Crazy… I’m almost 29 and tha buzz just comes real slowly, just so ya know… A 4th verse, here, soundin’ like a younger dude, here… Lyrics are ehh; decent appearance… My Rating: 4.3

10. “Everybody Want A Body” feat. Big Duce
>>> Anotha five-minute track, here; can it last? Sounds like tha bass kinda strong, here? Loud volume, a lil’? “Everybody Want A Body”? Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I think it’s that Big Deuce dude, again… Likin’ tha “essay” rhyme… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice, here… Here comes tha 3rd verse, as tha dude wants to “turn ya basement into a victim,” huh? Crazy… My Rating: 4.0

11. “If I Had A Billion Dollars”
>>> This one almost five minutes, too…; hmm… “If I Had A Billion Dollars” as this title? Sounds like somethin’ to offer to tha people, here; decent… I have these kinda motives fa “err-body” in Baton Rouge, but it’s hard to get tha same in return, smh… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad… Not my favorite kindsa tracks but it’s still listenable… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse and it sounds a lil’ like Delwin The Krazyman or somethin’, here… Not bad wit this somewhat-struggle song, here… And, tha beat slows down toward tha end, here… My Rating: 3.4

12. “Stupid, Retarded, Dumb”
>>> Kickin’ it off wit “stupid, retarded, dumb;” can’t wait ta hear this! Finally, an identified producer: Young Hustla a.k.a. In Da Lab With Huss! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty dope! Gonna call this one “Stupid, Retarded, Dumb”; dope hook! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and this iz tha shit, right chea!! When Baton Rouge music and verses are unstoppable! Sounds like a smoother voice on tha 3rd verse, here; dope! “Nigga, you…don’t want…to fuck…with me;” good shit! And, tha verse gets rapped faster; definitely nice! My Rating: 4.4

13. “Duffy”
>>> Not really anticipatin’ this intro; why this CD keep fluctuatin’ with tha beats? Sounds like “Paranoid” or some Ty Dolla $ign shit… Well, hearin’ tha hook and I feel like I like this a lil’ betta than my first impression… Should I just call it “Duffy,” since y’all “hit tha club” like this? Kinda reminds me of hyphy music from Cali or somethin’, a lil’… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ aight… Some of tha lyrics are ehh, but tha vibe’s pretty nice wit this beat… Then again, why these tracks gotta be over five minutes long… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ consistent wit these rhymes… Almost sounds a lil’ like a younger Kevin Gates wit tha voice? Have to say, I’m glad y’all keepin’ tha word, “duffy,” alive; I do, too! And, tha hook repeats right after tha 2nd verse? And, we have 2:10 left and it’s just a beat? Wow… Damn, like, almost 100 seconds of silence at tha end! My Rating: 4.2

14. “My City”
>>> Sounds like a dope track… “I’m ridin’ around my city…;” I’m gonna call this “My City,” aight? Nice hook… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; good shit goin’ on fa y’all “city,” ya heard me? Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ pretty nice; gotta luv tha southern vibes! My Rating: 4.1

Overall: Some decent tracks, but there was a nice selection, here… Y’all sound like y’all got y’all shit together; keep up tha grind!
