Review #1,183: Marcel P. Black "The 1rst Born EP"

Reviewed on 9.18.2012 (Review #1,183)

My 3rd review for today: Marcel P. Black The 1rst Born EP. Start Time: 5:26 PM | End Time: 5:37 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “1rst Born”
>>> Interesting thoughts, throughout years, in tha beginning… Beat sounds good for you, and tha lyrics about you sound good, too… I like tha “but tha ___ iz ___” parts; it’s like, when people stereotype, tha true colors show. My Rating: 4.1

02. “Sundown” Feat. Lyriqs Da Lyraciss
>>> Not really into samples on songs, but this ain’t too bad for me; at least tha beat’s a lil’ enlightening… Feelin’ how you come through on this beat; looks like you have missions you want to accomplish, just like myself. Let’s hear how this Lyricist comes through wit his rhymes… Nice rhymes, decent voice fa this; not bad… Plus, you’re comin’ through wit finishin’ off wit more of your great rhymes. My Rating: 3.7

½time: Sounds like anotha good EP for you; 3.9 for tha CD rating, currently.

03. “Scarecrow”
>>> “22 years old,” 23, and 24 seem like tha ages where people get their true emerge into things? I feel like that wit a few things I’ve done. Anyway, good sample from Lil’ Wayne, here, and it sounds like a nice, jammin’ beat. You got some good rhymes goin’ on, here, flowin’ crazy on tha beat! Rhymes are nice; happy late birth—wow, it was a week ago already? Ugh, I gotta stay on track of things (even though I already wished you one on FB, prolly); I’ll get caught up one day. My Rating: 4.4

04. “22580”
>>> I like tha Common sample, this time; good beat, too! Seems like this iz tha EP for tha samples (yea, I seem to be not too into high-pitched female samples, at times)… Anyway, sounds like some good, growin’ up-type rhymes, and I’m likin’ ‘em! You know I had it hard growin’ up, communication wise! My Rating: 4.3

05. “Lost & Found”
I wish this title would come into play wit my “lost” video camera, “lost” two mini DV tapes, “lost” two camera cases, and “lost” flashdrive, from six months ago. :( >>> Not bad wit tha sample on tha hook, this time. Tha beat sounds good for an ending song; rhymes sound good, too. Good rhymes wit tryin’ ta “shake back;” shakin’ “back” doesn’t stop our family, so I’m glad to always be motivated! My Rating: 3.9

Overall: Nice job wit this one, Marcel; mixin’ tha lyrics up wit some jammin’ beats, this time, and tha samples mainly didn’t disappoint! Keep puttin’ out these nice, quick EPs!
