Review #1,194: A.u. "Smoker's Delight (Hosted by DJ Wookee)"

Reviewed on 9.22.2012 (Review #1,194)

Doin’ a review or two for today, since I’m watchin’/stayin’ with rappin’ granny’s 91-year-old mom, since rappin’ granny went out to a dinner with her friend’s sister (EDIT: She just got back after I went to tha bathroom, lol. EDIT #2: Now, three hours after having a group talk, I can finally review this, lol). Here’s A.u. Smoker’s Delight (Hosted by DJ Wookee). Start Time: 11:10 PM | End Time: 11:35 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro
>>> Nice reggae feel for this intro to your Smoker’s Delight; as you said, “Hosted by DJ Wookee.” My Rating: N/A

02. “Higher”
>>> I thought this was an ‘album’; why does it have to be a “mixtape”? Anyway, great online beat wit a rock and reggae feel for you to rap on; lyrics sound great, too. However, can’t 100% dig these vocals; don’t think you should have any a-tune. Bringin’ up a-tune’s like bringin’ up my aunt Linda’s divorced husband, after 17 years; a warzone begins! Some of this ain’t too bad, but it’s way too long; I can see if it was a really slow song… My Rating: 3.4

03. “Money Don’t Fold”
>>> Even though this title’s not for me at all, I like how you’re comin’ through on this, a lil’. Overall, a lil’ cocky, but since I don’t have a problem with you, there’s nothing bad-bad, here. My Rating: 3.7

04. “Weed Plane”
Nice title… >>> A hook ruined by tha best way for me to suck each other’s dicks: a-tune! SMFH! Rhymes aren’t that bad, but tha center of my interest was lost in tha dick-tune! :( My Rating: 2.4

05. “Eyes Low (Remix)” Feat. Mike Gutta
>>> This makes up for that mess, previously; nicely done wit how you’re flowin’ on tha hook and this beat! These rhymes sound cool; I can dig this, in a way… Gutta’s on tha 2nd verse, and I like all his bleezies, back ta back! Catchy flow; nice collaboration! My Rating: 4.2

06. “Loaded”
>>> Sounded like David Bowie “Let’s Dance” in tha beginning; I think we oughta leave Bowie outta this? Let’s hear tha song… Sounds like a party wit all kinds of noises; sounds funny to go wit “loaded” and “smokin’” content! Not bad, but not every song needs to be 3:30 – 5:00… My Rating: 3.9

07. “Music & Weed”
>>> Quieter? All volumes should be mastered; I did that to every file I downloaded, purchased, etc.… every file I got since Spring 2003! Well, tha beat sounds real nice, here, as far as tha sounds for a feel-good vibe! Nice choice, and your comin’ up-type rhymes sound good, too. My Rating: 4.3

08. “Getcha Mind Right”
Bonus @ #8? Error? >>> Nice East Coast-y feel you’re bringin’, here, wit tha “weed!” Great job wit tha hook; let’s see how tha verses turn out… Really good for “weed,” on a typical basis of spendin’ a night wit “weed” smokers! My Rating: 4.3

½time: Seems like I’m feelin’ this, despite a few iffy reviewz; 3.7 for tha CD rating, currently.

09. “Who Got It” Feat. Mike Gutta
Anotha bonus? >>> Heard this beat on someone else’s CD before, so my interest’s low… I like tha vibe you’re bringin’ to tha table, here, smokin’ “like an oil leak!” Gutta makes a nice appearance on tha 2nd verse; it’s like weed + weed! My Rating: 3.5

10. “Match Something” Feat. DJ Wookee
DJ Wookee on tha feature? >>> Nice laidback vibe; tha “herb” rhymes sound better-than-average… Ending from DJ Wookee outta nowhere, here. My Rating: 3.6

11. “Smoke Session”
>>> Anotha good beat you chose; has a laidback vibe, but a lil’ upbeat, too. Rhymes sound good; nothin’ but a “smoke” vibe, continuing! My Rating: 4.0

12. “Show Up Or Show Off” Feat. DJ Wookee, Dino Danja & Clever Kev
>>> No, B N.I.C.E., no beat tag needed! Long intro from DJ Wookee; why tha low volume? Must be Dino first—wait, it’s you, and tha rhymes are aight. Once you said, “Camp Life,” I think I chose to move to tha next verse… Dino sounds above-average, here, stayin’ on a grind… Kev has some on-topic shit toward tha end, for hangin’ out. My Rating: 3.8

13. “Float On”
>>> Rappin’ sounds a lil’ faster, but why iz it 3:54? Can’t it just be a minute shorter? Nice “high” rhymes, once again; yea, what’s up wit tha remainin’, like, 90 seconds of just an online beat? Ugh, mixtapes!! Ugh! My Rating: 3.2

14. “I’m So Zooted”
Bonus before tha end, again, lol? >>> Sounds like a good beat to rap on; interestin’ new word for me (“zooted”), as you made a nice hook outta it. Because, like, only one beat was original, most of this same-topic shit’s gettin’ kinda boring for me. I mean, if there was all original production, I prolly would’ve been more entertained. As for these rhymes, they’re okay. My Rating: 3.7

15. “Highway”
>>> Nice “daze” feeling, here, but too long on tha 4:19 length… I like how this examines tha crusin’ and fulla dat perspectives, combined. Anotha really long beat outro; I take off a lil’ bit of points fa dat! My Rating: 3.5

16. “Stay Blowed” (Swag & Slim Feat. A.u.)
I don’t get why you’re featured? >>> Mysterious artist featuring you… That mysterious artist’s soundin’ pretty good wit his “high” vs. “get cash”-type rhymes… Tha only people I haven’t heard on this CD yet, which iz in tha DatPiff artist part, iz Swag & Slim; I assume this iz them, so I’ll just put them as tha artist… I have to say, good collaboration; it’s a lil’ calm, but it’s not too bad. My Rating: 3.5

Overall: Turned out to be mainly decent for me. Hope to hear you on some original production, like you were on a J Buc-produced song by Savage (wit Young Ready, from DJ Wookee’s Crook II CD).
