Review #84: DJ Dutty Laundry Presents OJ Da Juiceman "Hood Classics Extra"

Reviewed on 5.21.2008 (Review No. 84)

Watz good it's Frankie, here wit another review. I'm feelin' real shitty right now 'cause I have a terrible alergy (wit my nose) and at random points, I have a minor headache. Hopefully tha Claritin will help me today… Anyway, this mixtape I'm reviewin' iz from someone I have no clue about. His name iz OJ Da Juiceman and this iz his mixtape "Hood Classics Extra", presented by DJ Dutty Laundry (*thinks of Bitter:Sweet's "Dirty Laundry" song for a second…*). I'm attemptin' this mixtape 'cause I'm close wit this dude at my college by tha name of Juice, and this rapper has "Juice" in his name, so this could be good. Now then, here's my review for DJ Dutty Laundry Presents OJ Da Juiceman "Hood Classics Extra". It BETTER be a good mixtape 'cause I feel like total shit right now!! Start Time: 12:35 PM | Video Game Playing: Quest 64 (for Nintendo 64) (on my computer)

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2008 CD Review (Review #84) reviewed on 5.21.2008 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. "Intro"
Not sure what to expect from him… >>> Yeah still real curious. He almost looked a lil' like Chingo Bling when I first saw him on his Myspace page, but now I don't really think. My Rating: N/A

02. "Cop A Chicken"
Tryin' not to get my hopes up just yet… I love that title tho 'cause eva since my 64 year old rappin' grandma rapped to "Chicken Noodle Soup" and Ms. Peachez's "Fry That Chicken". Let's see… >>> Sounds odd, but good I guess. Sounds like a mix between a Three 6 Mafia beat (remindin' me a lil' of "Chickenhead" for a second). I like tha "cop a chicken dawg" in tha beginning of tha hook. He sounds like he's a good rapper. I'm gonna be lookin' forward to this mixtape slowly… What does it mean to "cop a chicken" according to OJ Da Juiceman? I like it. Good start to this mixtape. My Rating: 4.4

03. "Skit"
Nice… a skit already! >>> There shouldn't have been any music in tha skit in my opinion. I rather skits and interludes have no music of tha previous/next joint in tha background. Sometimes I like when it's just a real quiet beat in tha background. My Rating: N/A

04. "Who We Are"
Let's see what this joint gon sound like… >>> Nothin' mindblowin', but it's good. Nice lil' jam. Good hook tho. I like tha "kush comin' by tha pound…" line (and any lines related to that that he says). I can't say anymore about this… it's just pretty good. My Rating: 4.0

05. "Now & Later Cars" Feat. Gucci Mane
Oh nice a collabo and a Shawty Redd production at once already. Let's see this one… >>> Intro was kinda long wit DJ Dutty Laundry, but now it's kickin' in. Not bad hook. I don't have much to say about this… It's a nice jam. Hook sounds better, and tha verses were pretty good. My Rating: 3.7

06. "Butniks"
Iz this a song or an interlude…? >>> It's a song… Sounds better than "Now & Later Cars". From 0:51–1:00, that WHOLE part iz nice! Real nice beat and this iz gonna get a nice rating from me. "Both pockets full, that's how tha Juice do it" True line right there. Likin' that hook wit tha "swagger" part. Nice verses! My Rating: 4.2

07. "Chains & Frames" Feat. Gucci Mane, Lil' Charles, Teva & Courtney Money
I don't know how many that exactly iz on tha features. Let's see how all them handle this! >>> Good it's nice and long at 6 minutes, 32 seconds! Another good beat start. Like it!! Good start by Gucci Mane. I guess Gucci Mane's part was so good that Dutty Laundry brought it back. I like tha "oh that's what's her face" line. Tha 3rd dude sounded good on this. Juice sounds good on this too. Good joint right there. I hope I had tha featured artists's names right. My Rating: 4.2

08. "Cuz I Want To"
That's exactly how I feel dawg. Why am I reviewin' this when I don't know who you are? It's "cuz I want to," lol. >>> Sounds like there's a bunch of static back n' forth on this. Tha beat iz nice and this iz soundin' pretty good. "Cookin' wit tha right hand, you know I got tha right plan" I like that line. A nice joint right here. I like when rappers say "dawg", so I keep hearin' you say it, and that's a thumbs up right there. My Rating: 4.3

09. "Ni Ming"
What does that title say…? >>> Oh it's like "nah mean". Nice beginning so far. "Got blocks like I'm buildin' legos" Nice line, and feelin' it. I like tha "my year dawg and I'm smokin' like this blunt" line too. Nice joint too. Feelin' tha consistantness here! My Rating: 4.1

10. "You See Da Carats"
Let's see this Speed production. I have a feelin' it might either be good for me or a club banger. >>> Sounds like that Three 6 Mafia type of style in tha beat, and even in tha vocals on this one this time. "Call me locksmith 'cause I sold a lot of keys" Nice line! Nice joint right here. My Rating: 3.9

½time: It's 1:35 PM right now (exactly one hour since I started). I feel like it has been takin' me forever to do this. Well my fuckin' alergies are killin' me. Ugh my fuckin' nose and why tha fuck my fuckin' eyes! Anyway, good start from this mixtape. I'm definitely enjoyin' it.

11. "Ass Club/Regular Club"
This mixtape's titles are all in lower case without any commas. That's why I'm not sure how to ID some of these things, but this song looks like it's two different clubs, so that's why I put tha comma. >>> Yeah that comma looks like it goes there 'cause you're comparin' 2 different clubs in tha hook. Nice start to this joint so far. I'm interested in hearin' tha rest of it. I like tha "crushed blue diamonds look like french fry batter," and then tha "pancake charger" lines. Real good. Actually, I think for tha title there should be a " / " instead (just like wit tha "D-Block/Dipset" song by a few members from D-Block and a few members from Dipset). Everytime you say somethin' like "*insert here* look(s) like *insert here*," it sounds tight. Nice pretty long song here. My Rating: 4.1

Intermission: Tunin' into Music Choice Electronica right now, and they're premierin' a new song right now: "Konichiwa Bitches" by Robyn. OMG how mindblowin' to hear some HARD/SEXY lyrics from her!!! Now back to tha mixtape!

12. "I'm Gettin' Money"
Love tha title!! High AL (anticipation level) finally!! >>> Tha beat iz nice/above okay. So far it's off to a good start. "I ain't Coby Briant (sp?) but I'm playin' wit that white gurl" Nice line! Nice jam too. "Arena on my pinky 'cause I'm doin' big numbers," "movin' in tha grand pre, same color as thunda" and tha "in tha trap spot, we smokin' nothin' but fruity mango" lines were REAL nice! I think that's tha most lines I fit in one sentence at one time (3). I think I like tha "Chicken" song (tha 1st song on here) better than this slightly, but I'm gonna give this tha same rating. BTW, why did tha last 10 seconds have to be tha intro to tha next song? They should've just cut it off when this song ended. My Rating: 4.4

13. "Freestyle" Feat. Gucci Mane
I think I made at least 5 trips to tha bathroom to get tissues for my nose during this review. Ugh… Now I blew my nose a few times and now I have a tissue in my nose. It better not cause anything while I finish this review. Anyway, let's see how this "freestyle" gon sound like! >>> 3:00 on tha length. Juice you did yo thang on this dawg. Real nice!! For some reason, I liked when Gucci said "richer than last year." I liked that. My Rating: 4.2

14. "One Stop Shop" Feat. Blockbeater (R.I.P.)
What happened to Blockbeater? How did he die? I HATE seein'/hearin' that rappers are dead. It hurts me to know that we lose people! >>> Real nice start to tha hook. Actually as soon as I heard tha "one stop shop" part, I loved it. Wow I LOVE tha hook!! Wow too bad he died. He did his fuckin' thang on this! Love tha "I got weed/X/hard/soft" in tha hook. And wow he said "dawg" in tha hook. It's a wrap now. REAL GOOD rating for me!! Oh wait I thought Blockbeater was on tha 1st verse. Neva mind. He's on tha 2nd verse. He sounds tight. So if that's Juice on tha hook and on tha 1st verse (especially tha hook), then REAL TIGHT! Perfect rating for me! My Rating: 5.0

15. "Skit"
Wow we're closer to No. 16! What's gonna happen after that TIGHT-ASS No. 14 song?!? >>> Good start to No. 16. I didn't really hear what tha skit said, so lemme hear again… Sorry, it was kinda a pointless skit. Really, tha previous/next joint should not be in tha background, especially since it's not that low. I can barely hear what you or Dutty Laundry iz sayin'. My Rating: N/A

16. "I Be Trappin'"
Tha follow-up song to No. 14, and looks like another REAL GOOD song! I love tha songs about tha drugs! VERY HIGH AL!! >>> Hook was not bad at first, but I'm lovin' tha 1st verse! Another REAL GOOD song!! I LOVE that it's almost 5 minutes long (length: 4:58)! Yeah, "tha track plus your vocals got my head bobbin'." Tha beat iz kinda gettin' boring, but I'm tryin' to resist that. I see it switched to tha next beat at tha end. Sounds a lil' better. My Rating: 4.6

17. "Ice Water Whip"
This ANOTHER real good title!! Another VERY HIGH AL!! >>> Sounds good. "Whippin' yayo" iz this another drug song? If so, wow this iz REAL consistant!! It has to be 'cause you're "in tha kitchen" durin' tha hook. I didn't say much about this, but it was jammin'. My Rating: 4.4

18. "Ballin', Stay Fly"
*Goes and fixes No. 16 to "Trappin'"* I think according to tha ID, it should be "in'" at tha end of tha word, not "ing". "Ing" doesn't sound good, especially on urban cases. Anyway, looks like tha 4th REALLY consistant song in a row. Can it happen? High AL!! >>> Definitely "tha motto that you live by." Sounds real good again. I like tha screwed part where it's like "ballin', stay fly. Ballin'—ballin', stay fly." Now I LOVE that screwed part! Those screwed parts sometimes remind me of my boy Big Baby (like wit Hot Dollar's "Streetz On Lock"). Oh yes, it's gonna say it again!!! FUCKIN' LOVE IT!!!!! My Rating: 4.7

19. "Skit"
*Continues by singin' tha previous joint…* (Screwed voice) "Ballin', stay fly. Ballin'-ballin', stay fly…" Let's see this skit: >>> *Laughs wit that wit a pic of Rihanna on Music Choice Dance on tha screen* Sorry, another pointless skit. My Rating: N/A

20. "Public Housing"
Looked like Lady Sovereign's title for a second (her's iz "Public Warning"). Let's see this one… >>> Another screwed part! "Money stack tall, dawg" Definitely feel you on that. Sounds like real long verses. As soon as tha hook started for tha 2nd and 3rd times, it sounded like I could hear it bein' pasted onto tha track. My Rating: 4.2

21. "Tongue Ring" Feat. Sig HB
Thought it was an outro… Maybe tha outro iz at tha end of this joint. Iz it gonna be similar to tha Three 6 song? How do you say that featured dude's name? Oh yeah tha tissue in my nose iz gettin' real gross, so I betta get to this before somethin' happens! >>> Lol @ tha "horny" part. Sounds a lil' ol'skool. Not bad. A great song to end wit. Not really gonna say much about this. It's nice. Nope, no outro at tha end. Too bad there's 5 seconds of silence. My Rating: 3.7

Overall: End Time: 2:43 PM. What can I say… I really like this mixtape! Great shit, especially most of that shit during tha 2nd ½!! Props to that boy OJ Da Juiceman! Tha next review iz gonna be his latest joint wit DJ Ace called "Juice World".
