Review #1,057: D Boy Repasenta "Tha Streets Keep Callin'"

Reviewed on 8.17.2011 (Review #1,057)

Hopefully, this’ll be tha last day of current/recent CD reviewz for a while. Only got a total of five ta do so it shouldn’t take ‘til tomorrow. Startin’ off today—one of four for this artist—iz D Boy Repasenta. Released on March 3, 2008, here’s my review for his Tha Streets Keep Callin’ CD. Start Time: 9:16 AM | End Time: 9:57 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I already love it. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating! Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. Intro
>>> LOL @ wantin’ ta be signed. Kinda sounds a lil’ funny to listen; are you feelin’ cocky or somethin’? At least there’s no Drake durin’ these times, luckily! My Rating: N/A

02. “Who I Am”
Was actually my debut single’s title; this would actually be tha 1st song you have? Let’s see how it goes. >>> Sounds like a nice beat for ‘07/’08; your voice sounds a lil’ like a Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em, here, but at least you’re normal. A list of rapidness goin’ on here wit tha rappin’? Not bad; more interested in tha beat, though. For a “Who I Am”, it’s mainly your name; wit my song, it was tellin’ you “who I am.” Either way, I can fuck wit dis… My Rating: 4.1

03. “Streets Keep Callin’”
Title track, minus tha Tha, lol. >>> Not too crazy ‘bout tha beat; sounds like a beat Juelz Santana would have (like “Down” from ’03)? Tha rappin’ aight, too. My Rating: 3.6

04. “It’z My Time”
>>> So far, tha beat sounds pretty good… Tha hook sounds decent; I see where you’re goin’ wit life, repetitive style. Lyrics are only aight; really sounds like you’re wantin’ ta get signed, once again? I definitely don’t wanna get signed ‘cause I’m great wit what I do; don’t want anyone controllin’ me! Yea, at 23 years-old! My Rating: 3.7

05. Skit 1
>>> ROFL, what tha hell? Where’d this “Big Things Poppin’” beat and Ya Boy Earl come outta? Funny ‘cause it’s so instant, includin’ tha higher-soundin’ volume! ROFL, “chicken and watermellon;” he said it so fast!! My Rating: N/A

06. “Catch Me In The Hood”
>>> I like tha Yung Joc sample on tha hook; lol @ everyone samplin’ him for tracks. I like how it has a nice, Southern vibe, unlike certain songs people be puttin’ out today! Tha rhymes are decent but sound good wit this vibe, ya dig? My Rating: 4.2

07. “I’m Loaded”
>>> Sounds like it could sound like a “Wipe Me Down” vibe; let’s see how dis goes… Tha hook sounds like it, so far, wit tha formula, a lil’. “I’m” really likin’ how you deliverin’ tha hook, “loaded” style! Beat almost sounds like a Shonta production (maybe it iz)! That “rollin’” part sounds tight, too. LOL @ your “pants fallin’ off;” thumbs up fa havin’ “big” pants, though, ‘cause it’s like havin’ Girbauds. Definitely some catchy-ass shit goin’ on, here; you definitely hold it down on this track, here! My Rating: 4.5

08. “Push It”
>>> LOL, ‘feelin’-like-a-faggot’-type beat, here, wit Rick Ross and those ’06 times; did shitty things at age 18! Rhymes are good, though; seems like you’re holdin’ it down, regardless. You even got some features on here, too. My Rating: 3.7

09. “Heard Of Me”
>>> At least it ain’t too faggy, here, wit tha X-Fyle beat from ’05, lol. Thumbs up fa err-thang you have! An “E Gizzle” feature? My Rating: 3.7

10. Skit 2
>>> “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” in tha background; talk about keepin’ tha faggot-soundin’ shit goin’ wit tha beats! Just found out dat one of these dudes from my 1st college (when this song was hot) owes me $20 in scratch-offs fa me doin’ a favor for him back in ‘08; so grossed out ta find dat shit in my FB messages! Anyway, sounds like a funny skit; mainly sounds like how I was treated in high school, since today marks nine years dat I moved from my hometown of Long Island, NY to Northeast PA, losing my growin’ socializin’. My Rating: N/A

11. “Money In My Pocket” Feat. Young Gregory
>>> Ooh, I’m likin’ tha beat start; killa sound effects goin’ on here!!! Thought it was gonna do wit Lil’ Cali’s song wit Mouse but it’s not! Even though tha lyrics and content iz a lil’ cocky, this sounds like a jam, though! You sound a lil’ like Young Gregory? Or wait, maybe that’s him on tha 1st verse? Has ta be him, lol; good collab! You even comin’ through wit tha cockiness from tha hook, here, lol. My Rating: 4.4

½time: This sounds like a good CD, so far; feelin’ it! A 4.0 for tha CD rating, currently; there’s plenty more where you came from, lol!

12. “Drunk Man”
>>> This sounds pretty nice, too, regardless of it bein’ a dancin’ song; really likin’ tha hook wit all tha fucked-up feelings, lol! LOL, you must be around 25 by now ‘cause you had to have been like 21 when this came out. Even a collaboration goin’ on, here, too; nice job wit this catchy-ass song, no matter what’s goin’ on! My Rating: 4.2

13. “Don’t Worry”
>>> I think this sounds catchy; I like tha “don’t worry ‘bout a damn thang” shit in tha hook. Tha beat ain’t too bad, here, either; at least it’s an original production. Seems like you’re settin’ tha mood wit havin’ tha “kush” and err-thang fa whoeva visits; pretty good… Nice lyrics, too, includin’ tha “titties” shit, lol. My Rating: 3.9

14. “Heartless & Hopeless”
Forgettin’ an “e” in “hopless”, lol? >>> Beat sounds like it could be addictin’ wit tha sounds repeatin’! This iz an interestin’-soundin’ song wit what you got goin’ on, here. LOL, mentionin’ “50;” at least it ain’t Wayne, lol! Pretty-catchy song fa a “tired” song; seems like you’ve come a way wit tha amount of music you’ve released! My Rating: 4.0

15. Skit 3
>>> I thought this was gonna be a song before I saw what it was, lol. Tha beat—original or not—sounds pretty nice for this slow-ass pace! LOL, now, you said, “Wayne;” figures, lol. You sound a lil’ high or fucked-up here; some of tha shit sounds like you’re mumblin’ it in tha background. My Rating: N/A

16. “Lost”
>>> Ewe, tha faggy times again! I can’t believe how many fake-ass fags I dealt wit in tha ’07 dayz!! This iz aight; not bad wit what you’re bringin’ to tha table, “lost” and fresh, lol. You prolly could’ve shortened tha beat, though; no need for this to be over four minutes! My Rating: 3.3

17. “Lookin’-Azz”
>>> I like tha hook wit tha screwed sound, kinda like tha Yung Joc song from before. This sounds like a good track; you seem focused, here, wit your “lookin’-[at them]-azz,” lol! My Rating: 3.8

18. “Shake Back”
>>> Feature from “E Gizzle,” here, accordin’ to tha beginning; wonder who he actually iz? I definitely “gotta shake back” and get these 600+ old, Louisiana CDs reviewed! I started reviewin’ ‘em at 20 and I’m 23 now; don’t really have tha time for ‘em! Good job wit tha hook and what you bringin’ to tha table, here; nice beat you’re rappin’ on, too. Tha collaboration sounds good, too; y’all family. Hopefully, I can get tha actual list of features so I can include peoples’s correct names and all dat. My Rating: 3.8

19. Skit 4
>>> ROFL, includin’ tha faggy shit in tha background again (beat)! Earl comin’ through wit tha funny, loud, randomness, here! My Rating: N/A

20. “Mr. Clean”
>>> Talk about a pure recovery from tha skit’s beat, lol; feelin’ tha hot beat, here! Sounds like a feature, here? Good collaboration, again. LOL, speakin’ of clothes, this was around when “Red Monkey Jeans” by dat BET one-hit-wonder was out, lol; talk about gettin’ nowhere, lol? You actually sound good on your part, here; feelin’ your flow and tha shit you’re bringin’, “clean”/fresh style! Tha dude on tha 3rd verse sounds cool wit how he sounds; hope ta know who these people are soon! My Rating: 4.2

21. “Tha City”
>>> “Tha” beat start sounds catchy; I like tha Boosie sample on tha hook, here. Sounds like some good lyrics comin’ from you here; it’s all about dat street-type shit. Really soundin’ catchy wit tha “divide it” part; you got this young-street shit on lock! My Rating: 4.2

22. “From That Dirty”
Definitely! >>> Sounds like a tight song although it sounds like a loud volume but iz low? Thumbs up fa this “Dirty” South feature on tha hook and on tha 1st verse, whoeva he iz! LOL, you know if there iz a dreaded-soundin’ dude on tha 1st verse, you have ta come through wit dat hot shit and yes, you are; good job! Thumbs up fa reppin’ “that Dirty,” lol! My Rating: 4.3

23. Skit 5
Endin’ wit a skit and not an outro? >>> LOL, keepin’ tha faggy beats comin’ in tha background! Thought it was Earl again but it’s not, lol. Yea, I think “Baton Rouge” should get more exposed! However, I feel dat once Pimp C died, artists in Louisiana (mainly excluding New Orleans) barely get noticed. “It’s ’07;” okay, thanx for tha info, which I’ll consider all these song’s years as 2007! LOL, this guy on tha outro just keeps goin’ and goin’; fuckin’ funny, lol!! My Rating: N/A

Overall: I liked this shit; three more CDs to review for you! How will they go? I know this was a great time for a release (2008 style); keep up tha great work!
