Review #1,155: Clever Kev "Lochness Monsta: Dreadz, Birdz & Goonz"

Reviewed on 5.13.2012 (Review #1,155)

Up next, Yz’Gyz Entertainment/Bye U Entertainment’s Clever Kev Lochness Monsta: Dreadz, Birdz & Goonz. Start Time: 6:51 PM | End Time: 7:32 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro
>>> Good intro, “hustle” style. My Rating: N/A

02. “If I Don’t Get Money”
Not my kinda title until I see some. >>> Produced by—ahh, I wish Left Eye (TLC) was alive!! Even though this kinda topic iz completely not for me/ruinin’ rap music, this sounds good, overall, wit you on it. My Rating: 4.5

03. “Lochness Monsta” Feat. Spitta
I still don’t exactly get this mixtape title… >>> An EQ beat (comfortable ta say dat)! This sounds pretty good, too, wit a Spitta hook? Sometimes, I think y’all almost sound tha same wit tha voice, at times… Givin’ you a thumbs up wit how you comin’ through wit this, in a not-so-bad way… My Rating: 4.2

04. “Rap Dream”
>>> Tha content kinda sounds like tha previous songs; not bad/not much for me to say… My Rating: 4.0

05. “Cash Out”
>>> Nice start…; tha hook’s more fa tha ladies, here? Sounds good; I’ve always wondered exactly what it’s like ta fuck? Especially, for tha woman to make tha initiative… Even though there’s a lil’ bit of mainstream-soundin’ lyrics in tha verses, I do like tha X-rated shit, at times. My Rating: 3.9

06. “Animal” Feat. Spitta
>>> Tha beat from—oh wait, I have ta say dat Neon Hitch iz hot when she says, “She can love you good, but I can fuck you betta!” This sounds like I might’ve heard this before, but possibly not this title? Either way, nice collaboration from Spitta; his dreads seem to make life seem like a jungle… in his dreaded hair, lol! Great content and jungle life! My Rating: 4.4

07. Skit
>>> Tha damn “red light;” I dunno how people can pull off “speedin’,” though; neva went past 80 MPH (back on 8.22.2011 @ 11:39 AM). My Rating: N/A

08. “Ghetto Soaps” Feat. Lil’ Mista
>>> I’m feelin’ tha start wit tha productio—oh wait, I wanna just play Natascha Bessez’s HOT, HOT, HOT “Heal” song 100,000x instead of commentin’ tha beat!!! Betta yet, I think it already has at least 40 plays on my iPod within a few dayz on my iPod!!! Are we creatin’ a Hip-Hop soap opera, here? Not bad wit tha content, here; feelin’ how you comin’ through wit tha shit, here! Mista on tha feature, makin’ this a great collaboration for you! All these lyrics are pretty catchy; a bunch are funny, and always entertainin’, here! My Rating: 4.3

09. “Knock It Off”
>>> Comin’ through wit some gangsta shit in tha beginning? Feelin’ how you comin’ wit this!! Oh, I wanna comment wit tha production but I feel like that’s equivalent to a diabetic eating 100 pounds of chocolate to collapse and die! Why can’t life be 100% normal, especially wit thank yous and acknowledgements?!?! Real catchy wit how you’re comin’ through wit tha ‘keepin’ it real’ content, and just holdin’ this bitch down at all times!! My Rating: 4.7

½time: A 4.3-rated CD, currently; definitely some quality at its finest, Kev!!!

10. “Full Of Pain” Feat. Spitta
>>> Sounds like anotha tight collaboration; y’all both holdin’ this down, especially Spitta comin’ through wit his ‘always-in-trouble’-type shit! Not really into a song wit a sample on tha chorus, but at least you can barely hear it! What’s it like to be in tha streetz, frequently? Do you remember date and time you first went into tha streetz? Date and time of smokin’ kush for tha first time? Date and time of seein’ cocaine for tha first time? Hope you remember!! My Rating: 4.3

11. “I Get Money”
Anotha “money” song? >>> Tha beat from—oh wait, Fiona Apple’s SOOOOOO hot!!! Not really feelin’ tha same sample 50 Cent used for a part of tha hook. However, I’m likin’ this content; anotha joint on tha gangsta tip, here… Tha hook has some hot elements in it; always down fa a song wit elements in it!! “Water, fire…!!” My Rating: 4.2

12. “Hustle Muzik” Feat. Spitta
>>> Sounds like my other feedback; what else could I say? Anotha good jam from you two… I wish tha both of you guys would try ta learn how to mail somethin’ in tha mail; I think I was in my single digits when I knew how ta mail things, such as learnin’ ta mail CDs later on! My Rating: 4.0

13. “Street Shit”
>>> Hearin’ tha bea—no, no, no…NO!!!!!!!!!!! Time ta feel like a dog bein’ put ta sleep! Sounds like you’re reppin’ quite a bit of Louisiana areas, here, mixed wit your gangsta/feelin’ fucked up style! Thumbs up fa holdin’ it down, here, wit a grade of A! There’s a shitload of tightness wit this joint, and you must feel lucky ta rap on somethin’ like dis? Thumbs up fa your luck!! My Rating: 4.4

14. Skit
Lemme hear anotha skit! >>> More of a bad-ass attitude! How do y’all get tha balls ta have this much attitude? I have attitude, but it’s usually not when directly lookin’ at someone… My Rating: N/A

15. “Bool Out” Feat. Young Ready
What does this “bool” thing mean? >>> Ooh, anotha connection here, as you have Wodieson on tha beat! This ain’t too bad for a beat, but it at least makes me feel comfortable to talk about, at least; good rhymes you got goin’ on wit it, too, Kev… Lol @ Young Ready on tha 2nd verse; I’m glad he always has some sorta great attitude on every track he’s on!! Glad he ain’t soundin’ boring on any joint, unlike other rappers that don’t add character to their flow! As far as Ready sayin’, “Clever Kev, my nigga, my nerve,” I wonder, how does Young Ready get personal wit a person? Or, betta yet, anyone? Like, how can you detect a friendship? I always believed in a fairytale, especially wit thinkin’ certain Louisiana people actually fuck wit me on a heavy note! My Rating: 4.2

16. “My City”
>>> Deliverin’ tha knowledge in tha beginning wit an EQ beat, here!! Anotha song about grindin’, strictly doin’ tha damn thang! Not really much ta say wit this one, once again, basically ‘cause sometimes, tha content’s all about grindin’ and money, for tha most part… My Rating: 4.1

17. “Money 2 Be Made” Feat. Spitta
>>> Umm, a Lil’ Wayne sample on tha hook… This ain’t too bad, overall, but once again, we all know about this content. Rarely any feedback needed, but tha joint itself iz quality. Ooh, an unexpected feature from Spitta; why not sourced on tha back cover? So, that means, “Screw Spitta,” instead of, “Free Spitta”? You guys gotta make up your minds! Shout out ta Spitta fa doin’ a nice job addin’ ta this already-okay joint! My Rating: 4.2

18. “On Dem Pussies” Feat. Savage & Problem Child J.R.
Ooh, Savage featured!!! He’s gotta be one of tha earliest ones I got connected wit from BR to still be in my life! Lookin’ forward ta hearin’ this!! >>> Savage produced? I always say dat when he’s featured on jointz… Oh, always luv what he comes wit; also, luv his kick-ass attitude, here!!! He even holdin’ down tha hook wit that good shit, too! “When you piss, you sit on tha toilet…”? What if tha dude just masturbated? It’s good to sit in that case ‘cause you don’t wanna create a mess wit tha splatter in tha bathroom! Keep in mind! Definitely feelin’ this anthem, here; seemed like you saved some treasure for tha end? Your attitude goes over well, too, Kev; it’s all about dat Savage attitude dat definitely makes tha song!! Iz this tha FlyBoy Comitty J.R.? Doesn’t exactly sound like him; almost sounds like a Lil’ Cali, lol… Savage always kicks ass and I’m surprised how young he iz, at times! My Rating: 4.7
EDIT: Oh, I keep forgetting about Lil' Junior, wit Problem Child Entertainment...

19. Outro
Endin’ it wit… >>> Sounds good, in an actual street style and take. My Rating: N/A

Overall: Definitely a great way ta pull this disc off, Kev!! Seems like you keep dat Badd Nooze flava comin’, in your own consistent wayz!! Tha Savage feature and production was a surprise; real glad he was on here! I was in tha news car wit my internship team for yesterday, and when dat “Kush & Lean” by Savage & Bro-Bro played, I was smilin’ real hard; lol, I prolly looked like a retarded, but you can’t deny dat “kush & lean”, lol! Also, would’ve loved to leave more feedback, especially on tha production that made me feel uncomfortable. However, since makin’ a wise decision to move on from bein’ real, real, real, real, REAL, REAL, REAL, REAL, real, real, real, real, real, real, REAL hurt and invaded from tha producer, I saw five-figga digits 12 dayz later, drove to New York by myself in January, and flew to Florida by myself a few months ago!! So, I guess it was a good choice? Even mentionin’ their name feels like summonin’ a bear to eat me, and pronounce me dead, and I don’t want that to happen! Then again, there are 100s and of initiatives and acknowledgements they owe me!
