Review #1,212: K-Chill "Situations"

Reviewed on 10.28.2012 (Review #1,212)

Here’s my next review: K-Chill Situations, outta Gorillaville Records; all songs are produced by K-Chill, too. Somethin’ tells me this CD’s gonna suck for me, for some reason. I think it’s gonna be too versatile/slow jam-type music… Start Time: 12:46 PM | End Time: 1:05 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “All My Niggas”
>>> Wow, thought I was expectin’ somethin’ soft, but this goes hard! Nice job wit your typical, hyped-up hook, includin’ tha grindin’ verses! My Rating: 4.4

02. “Check To Check”
>>> Ooh, likin’ this beat! You’re doin’ ya thang on tha hook, here; finally, a song about not havin’ it all! Great job wit tha verses, too, and tha lyrics are definitely on-n-poppin’! My Rating: 4.5

03. “Superwoman”
>>> Why iz tha length of tha song so long (4:23)? Why no credit to tha singer on tha hook? Not really for me, but let’s see what you got on tha verses… Ehh, okay; not wack, though. I like your production on this, too; nothin’ disappointin’… My Rating: 3.6

04. “Truck Sumthin’”
Gonna switch tha “O” to a “U” ‘cause “somthin’” iz spelled “somethin’”. >>> Sounds like a faster version of “I Don’t Like You”; nice and vibe-y, here! Great job on tha production, too! Also, nice and quick without any “bullshit!” My Rating: 4.6

05. “5:00 In The Morning”
>>> LOL @ you gettin’ teased wit them “picture takes.” Again, tha singer’s not ID’d on tha hook, here… This ain’t too bad for a slow jam, and you do a decent job wit tha production. I have to say, this iz betta than tha “Superwoman” joint, especially since it’s shorter! My Rating: 3.8

½time: Off to a better-than-I-expected start, so far; 4.2 for tha CD rating, currently.

06. “Keep It Real”
>>> Again, tha not-ID’d singer’s on tha hook. Although 3:59 on tha length, this ain’t too bad for a slow jam, either. Good job wit tha lyrics, production, and verses, Chill. My Rating: 3.8

07. “Somebody Gone Fuck”
>>> I like tha hyped-up vibe on this track; you doin’ a nice job wit tha production, here! Thumbs up fa tha long beginning, it seems like; didn’t get bored! Tha flow sounds a lil’ boring on tha verses, though; sounds like you’re just mumblin’, instead of how you’re comin’ through on tha hyped-up hook… Sounds like you gotta work on your verses flow a lil’ bit… My Rating: 4.5

08. “Better Dayz”
>>> Thought this would be depressin’, but it ain’t too bad… I like your production once again, and it has a good sense of motivation bein’ provided… I like tha distorted last few seconds; good shit, Chill… My Rating: 4.0

09. “We Gone Roll”
>>> Another mysterious singer on tha hook… I like what you guys are providin’, here. Once again, great production from you, Chill, and tha lyrics sound like a good party… My Rating: 4.1

10. “Begging You To Stay”
>>> I like tha ‘90s, almost-G-Funk sound and it sounds like a good ending song. Once again, that mysterious singer’s on tha hook, here. Speakin’ of losing a “house,” tha house in Florida my 91-year-old grandma has iz gettin’ demolished next June! I’m goin’ to fly down to help them move everything in a few weeks! Terrible! My Rating: 3.9

Overall: Turned out to be a good CD; nothin’ really disappointed me, and you still did ya thang wit tha production and shit! Keep up tha great work…
