Review #1,283: K-Are "#SkyLiving"

Reviewed on 5.28.2013 (Review #1,283)

Comin’ from Memorial Day break; I will get to a review so I’m more caught up… K-Are #SkyLiving iz what I’m reviewin’. Now, there are track numbers on tha titles, but because not all tha titles have a track #, I will go with tha uploaded tracklisting… I was asked by tha artist to checked this out, so I’m just gonna randomly check it out, only ‘cause I don’t have many reviewz to do. Start Time: 10:54 AM | End Time: 11:12 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it! After I was robbed by an artist who claimed they “get money,” hearin’ about how much you “got money” and anything “money” really bothers me. If you have not done business wit me before, I won’t tolerate “money” talk in tha music!!

01. “Taking Flight”
>>> Sounds a lil’ weird with tha slowed-down Big Band music, but I guess it plays a good storytelling part in this; washed-away VCR tapes??? Usin’ tha “Ready Or Not” beat in tha background? I honestly hope this ain’t a jacked beat CD! You sound a lil’ bit like Problem Child Entertainment’s A.R., here, wit your voice; nice lil’ set of rhymes and delivery! I dunno about tha attempted, weird singin’ toward tha end… My Rating: 3.9

02. “One Life To Live” Feat. J-Rasta
>>> Sounds good for tha start; nice hook! Good collaboration; not bad for a song, overall. I can fuck wit this… Hope you got $20 ‘cause I would like to put one of these songs (such as this) on my upcomin’, 14th mixtape compilation, due out June 21. My Rating: 4.2

03. “Hardlife”
>>> An okay start wit tha sample… Rappin’ iz okay, here; kinda sounds random for a song with this delivery, at times… My Rating: 3.6

04. “The Come Up” Feat. J-Rasta
>>> Weird voice wit tha 1st verse…; rhymes ain’t bad, but sounds like random, internet rapper-type rappin’… Ehh, tha 2nd verse wit tha way tha voice sounds iz a lil’ odd, for me, too…; tha rhymes ain’t bad, once again. My Rating: 3.5

05. “Tired” Feat. T-Streetz
>>> Sounds a lil’ betta wit tha rappin’, but tha beat you chose iz real boring/typical rap shit… Tha dude on tha 2nd verse sounds off-beat; yuck! Also, this iz way too long! My Rating: 2.7

06. “Pharaoh”
>>> Sounds all over tha place wit tha amount of words in tha beginning… You sound a lil’ betta wit tha rappin’, here. Overall, tha song’s a lil’ more interesting than tha typical shit that gets out there… My Rating: 3.6

07. “Red Tuesday”
>>> Why tha “AJ” DJ-soundin’ beginning? Too long of a beginning with random tags… Lyrics are a lil’ interesting, but I’m not too crazy about how this sounds for a song, overall… My Rating: 2.6

½time: A 3.4-rated CD, so far.

08. “Famous 2”
>>> Skipped ‘cause of a-tune. My Rating: 1.0

09. “For The Taking”
>>> This, too; wtf?! My Rating: 1.0

10. “Tonight” (AJ Feat. K-Are)
>>> Anotha one!! Damn, why do you do what everyone else does?! My Rating: 1.0

11. “I’m On”
>>> Betta wit tha hyped-upness and good shit you’re spittin’ on tha verses, but I don’t think I can fully recover from tha bullshit three songs; might be impossible!! Maybe, tha ratings’ll be good, but tha novelty feeling’s there, for me! My Rating: 3.7

12. “Party At My Crib”
>>> Sounds too much like “Wasted”; are we in 2009? Way too mainstream for me, but I like—a lil’ how tha dude on tha 2nd verse sounds, all “wasted.” My Rating: 2.5

13. “Fly Than A Muthafuka”
>>> Noooooooo………………… My Rating: 1.0

14. “Frame”
>>> Ehh, way too typical for me. Will rappers eva have trouble dickin’ hoes “down”? My Rating: 2.2

15. “Leaning & Tippin’”
>>> Not that bad for an ending song; sounds more like a single than an ending song. I like tha content, though this falls under that ‘internet rappin’ category for me, as it sounds like it only stays in tha house/on one website, rather than on a hard copy CD that’s in tha streetz. My Rating: 3.2

Overall: I thought it was gonna be a slightly, below-average CD for me to review, but it got totally wack once tha string of a-tune songs came on, during tha 2nd ½. Sometimes, you gotta think outside tha box, such as my latest music video. There’s no a-tune on it, and it talks about real shit. I even filmed it to describe tha real shit; I even wrote and produced it to describe tha real shit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n9fKgBFr_g
