Review #1,729: General Mark "Demonstrations"

Reviewed on 6.17.2017 (Review #1,729)

As I keep tryna get to some older CD reviewz, I keep not gettin’ up before work… Now that I have a moment, lemme get to some other CD reviewz. This one’s from last year: General Mark Demonstrations, released on Salute Nation! This tha last CD Way 3000 gave me and I’m finally gettin’ inta it… Been havin’ problems with my self-esteem and my job, so that’s why I’ve been delayin’ tha reviewz… However, I’m so excited ta announce that in four dayz, I’ll be in Baton Rouge, again!! Start Time: 7:32 PM | End Time: 8:12 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “No Questions”
>>> An intro from Big Jay, here… After :23, here comes a nice lil’ intense beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; good shit wit how you comin’… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice, as you’re shinin’ bright on ‘em… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, and it’s soundin’ nice; reminds me of Badd Nooze-type flowz… My Rating: 4.0

02. “Bottom Line”
>>> Sounds like a dope lil’ Q-Red beat or somethin’; definitely feelin’ this! Good shit on tha 1st verse, here! Tha hook’s pretty dope, too, strictly deliverin’ this in a Baton Rouge way—thee way!! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice, too, strictly continuin’ this street shit tha way it should sound! My Rating: 4.3

03. “Throw Some Money” feat. CoCo The Rapper
>>> Produced by EQ Tha Misfit, here… Likin’ tha beat start but I’ont think I gon fuck wit this “money” shit… It kinda sounds catchy on tha hook; I’ll just say that it don’t sound wack… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ like a nice lil’ club banga… Neva heard of CoCo, before; hearin’ her on tha 2nd verse and it ain’t bad, here… My Rating: 3.7

04. “Problems”
>>> Sounds like a catchy track wit tha upbeat, 225-like production, here; dope hook! “We gon have a problem!” That’s if you “play” with Mark! Speakin’ of Marks, it’s my best friend’s brother’s friend, Mark’s birthday today… Guess this review finally got done on tha right day, lol? Hearin’ tha 1st verse and yeah, you still got that Spitta-like flow goin’ on, here; definitely nice… Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 2nd verse and you keepin’ this shit up! Good shit! My Rating: 4.3

05. “Going Down”
>>> Sounds like a decent hook; nice lil’ regular-soundin’ beat fa tha south, too… Not feelin’ tha “money” shit, tho… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s that nice, Badd Nooze-type music, here… And, keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, too; not much ta say… My Rating: 3.6

06. “Drop Change” feat. Lee Banks
>>> Mo music from EQ, here; sounds great… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty dope wit droppin’ this “change on ‘em;” good shit, Mark! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty energetic, here; definitely good shit… Keepin’ it movin’ wit Lee Banks on tha 2nd verse, consistently, viciously comin’ through wit tha grime—tha dope shit, that gangsta shit! My Rating: 4.3

½time: So far, so good; a 4.0-rated CD, here… Gotta keep it movin’, ya dig?

07. “Tryna Roll” feat. Mook
>>> Sounds like a dope lil’ laidback beat, here… Not anticipatin’ tha random background vocals in tha beginning, tho; I think this gon suck? A decent hook; not much ta say about this repetitiveness… Tha 1st verse iz decent, here; not much ta offer… A decent-soundin’, Spitta-like 2nd verse, here; can’t complain… My Rating: 3.5

08. “Head Games” feat. Mook
>>> I’ono, but I think these Mook features make this CD sound sour… Not feelin’ tha slow, long vibe, here… Tha hook okay fa this sex shit but ehh, coulda been an ending song? Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s aight… Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 2nd verse, here…; bleh…, I’m yawnin’… I’ll give you credit fa describin’ how you gettin’ it in wit this bitch, right chea… My Rating: 2.3

09. “‘Bout My Bread” feat. Mook
Here we go… What to expect from a 3rd Mook feature in a row, smh? >>> Not feelin’ tha voice or tha hook… Not to mention, tha beat’s plain and not Louisiana fa me… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s kinda like tha previous track… When you talk about tha “hotel” and tha “Hilton,” I just think of me stayin’ in BR at tha “Hotel” Indigo, three months ago! Definitely nice! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ aight; I’m not that interested in this, tho… My Rating: 2.4

10. “Devil Is A Lie”
>>> Sounds like a simple hook; at least this beat’s betta… Tha 1st verse’s decent, here; not too bad… A lil’ aggression bein’ shown throughout tha 2nd verse, here; not bad… Don’t have much ta say about this one but I am feelin’ it, just so y’all know… My Rating: 3.8

11. “She Want A G”
>>> Almost thought it was Mookie Blakk in tha beginning, here… Sounds like a decent, upbeat beat, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s aight; nothin’ special… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it kinda don’t sound like you, here… Whateva this voice iz, it’s aight but don’t really sound too Louisiana fa me… Only thang I really like iz tha upbeat vibe, here… And, tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here… I’ono, I have ta say that this a guilty pleasure-like track fa me, overall; not really fa me… My Rating: 2.5

12. “I Refuse”
>>> Now, this sounds more like you… Beat ain’t too bad, here, as it’s on a slower, street-soundin’ tip… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad wit what you bringin’… Tha hook sounds nice and true, here; “I refuse ta eva change!” I have to say, I ain’t “change,” but I’ve evolved into tha human being I’ve wanted to be! That day’ll come in four dayz, when I fly and enjoy myself in Baton Rouge by myself! And, continuin’ on, you layin’ tha facts down like Spitta should on tha 2nd verse, here; good shit… My Rating: 3.9

Overall: Turned out to be a decent CD… Not too many bangerz, unfortunately… A few jointz were shitty, while some were decent… A few good productions, too, but that’s about it…
