Review #2,045: Tha G.T. "Lost In Translation Series, Vol. 1"

Reviewed on 10.12.2023 (Review #2,045)

What’s up? FrankieThaLuckyDog here, with a review, in tha rap world! Can’t believe it’s been almost nine months since my last rap review! Guess we gotta start really throwin’ all these songs of today that only focus about money, money, money in tha shmelly-ole trash!! Yeah, I’ve been duckin’ off from tha new music out, today. Too much of it already gets extremely over-promoted; it’s like, nobody needs anything, anymore. I’ve been mainly focusing on all tha underground, Louisiana rap music from 1983 – 2013 with my #LouisianaRapVaultChallenge commercial series, that I’ve been continuously doin’… On tha other side, with this review, I was asked, outta nowhere & decided to take it on. Courtesy of Tha G.T. Muzik, we have Tha G.T. Lost In Translation Series, Vol. 1. How will this go with me? I’ve only listened to 13 rap tracks, this year… Start Tyme: 8:56 PM | End Tyme: 9:23 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals & then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before
“ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Bye-Bye”
While typin’ up tha track titles, I noticed all but tha 1st & 2nd, as well as tha 7th & 8th tracks, are in alphabetical order. That’s a lil’ on tha awkward side fa me… >>> Don’t know if I can start with such a slow pace… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & tha rappin’ iz so fast! Doesn’t blend right for me… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & startin’ off with a “bag” reference; not feelin’ that. Lyrics & rhymes are nice to hear but everything else turns me off. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s decent; good rhymes but nothin’ fa me ta wanna get high to… My Rating: 2.7

02. “Bussin’”
>>> Where are tha Baton Rouge beats?! What iz with this typical-soundin’ shit? Tha hook cool with tha “Bussin’” shit but it’s way too slow for me to enjoy… Tha 1st verse started off like you soundin’ like a white dude! Ahhh!! Fix that delivery!! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & yeah, once you say, “Runnin’ up a check…,” I just think of why I’ve been duckin’ off from all these tracks of today. That’s why, I told Killa McClain, earlier in tha spring, “When we make ‘In Frankin’, absolutely NO rhymes about money!” It came from my QC perspective & we made ourselves an anthem! My Rating: 3.0

03. “Complex”
>>> Beat sounds like a G-Unit-type beat; ick…! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it’s okay, as far as tha rhymes go… Tha lyrics are str8 & catchy with tha “maze,” as far as tha hook goes; nothin’ much else ta say… “I’m chasing stacks on a mission,” as tha 2nd verse progresses… Ahh!! Anotha “money” reference!! I’m tryna abolish it, in tha media!! My Rating: 2.8

04. “Get 2 Tha Money”
Danger title!! >>> Absolutely no originality, here! Beat sounds like somethin’ you hear from every rapper, from every part of tha world. Tha 1st verse, I have no comment on, as this track progresses… Oh, that hook’s so ear-bleedin’ to me!! Tha 2nd verse a lil’ betta but no, not for me. My Rating: 1.0

½tyme: Only a 2.4 for tha average rating, so far… Beats are too mainstream-soundin’ & bland; ain’t nothin’ new or exciting…

05. “I Ain’t Have Enough”
In today’s world, tha songs are so short. So, why in tha hell iz there a 6:11 rap track in 2023?! >>> Beat sounds slow & typical, here… Tha hook okay; just a boring vibe, overall. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s okay; nothin’ bad, nothin’ excitin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & just seems like it goes on & on, as far as these random rhymes go… Fading out at 2:58? Tf? Why does tha track repeat, again? Why would you upload tha same track 2x, in tha same track?! That affects tha rating, still! My Rating: 2.5

06. “I’m Good”
>>> Ahh, a gay-soundin’ voice, in tha hook! Definitely trash, as far as tha dude on tha hook goes! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & ehh, way too much with tha money rhymes, so I’m turned off… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from you & it ain’t bad, as far as your rhymes go… My Rating: 1.1

07. “New Shoes”
>>> Beat sappy & not interestin’… Already startin’ tha 1st verse with tha “my cake up” shit; I’ll keep pushin’ ta get every rapper to eliminate money-related shit in their rhymes! Let’s go back to shit like “Watch My Shoes”; those are tha “Shoes” I want!! Hearin’ tha hook & ewe, tha voice threw me off… Sounds like Sade but she don’t fit in what I wanna hear, right now… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it doesn’t need any feedback; tha track continues… Keepin’ this movin’ with a 3rd verse, here… I still think 5:18 iz way too long for today’s world; interest iz lost so fast… An outro at tha 4:00 mark, with 1:18 left of tha track… More of tha singin’, toward tha end; God, this iz so depressing…! My Rating: 1.2

08. “I’m Killin’ ‘Em”
>>> Intro started instantly, with this beat… Beat too mainstream-soundin’; prolly no interest from me, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s just rhymes, basically… Hearin’ tha hook & it’s simple; nothin’ to brag but at least, no “money”! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & tha rhymes are pretty nice; I’m feelin’ tha continuousness of tha rhymes, at least… My Rating: 2.9

Overall: Totally not for me, in this 2023 world… As a 35-year-old, it’s all about bringin’ tha quality you grew up with. That’s why, I want to hear nothin’ but pure, Baton Rouge rap, totally pilled-out, without any focuses on money! Money turned me in to tha victim of Louisiana violence & I want it abolished in tha rap world!! Any media, too! With that bein’ said, for your next releases’ tracks, go get some original Baton Rouge beats that sound nothin’ like mainstream or New York-soundin’ shit.
