Review #161: Big Jay & Pyrex Radio Present Yung Sicka "Paypa Talkin' (At Its Finest)"

Reviewed on 12.18.2008 (Review No. 161)

Wahhhh, what up? This ya boy FrankieThaLuckyDog here. I finna do another review today, and this time, it's for my dude Yung Sicka, outta dat Baton Rouge (where else, lol). I finna review his mixtape, "Paypa Talkin' (At Its Finest)," and boy, I'm lookin' forward to it! I know Yung Sicka from a few features on Big Jay's "Pyrex Radio" series, so now, let's see if he can handle 22 jointz on his own mixtape, presented by Big Jay! Without anymore delays, here goes my review for Big Jay & Pyrex Radio Present Yung Sicka "Paypa Talkin' (At Its Finest)"! Also, I'm gonna say this on every review I do for a while: FOR ANYONE READIN' THIS: Go check out my brand new music video, "Change Tha World," featuring Tha Wennipearl (my cousin Jen)!! It's a great song (written and produced by me) and a REAL GREAT music video (directed and 100% edited by me)! | Start Time: 10:21 PM | Video Game Playing: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (for Super Nintendo)

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2008 CD Review (Review #161) reviewed on 12.18.2008 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. Yung Sicka Prelude
Instead of an intro start, it's a prelude start. Let's see how he finna start thangz off… >>> Nice start; sounds more like an intro. I'm glad you gave a shout out to all those peeps out there in BR. It's good to hear you again, as just by hearin' yo voice talkin' on this shit, I feel really anticipated for what you're about to bring to tha table! My Rating: N/A

02. "Power Up" Feat. Lil' Boosie
This was on Way3000's mixtape, "Jigg City Allstars Vol. 1." On that mixtape, you weren't even cited in tha ID. I was gonna paste what I said previously, but because this only 1:44, I guess it's just a verse highlight. That hook iz DEFINITELY tight, and your verse was nice! My Current Rating: 4.3

03. "Intro"
LOL @ No. 3 bein' tha intro; that's somethin' different. I'm lookin' forward to hearin' it, especially since No. 2 was just a "power up," lol. >>> Sounds like a Swizz Beatz beat I wouldn't really go for… But, even though it took about 25 seconds, you're finally spittin'. I didn't expect this to be a song… Nice lil' rhymes, and I didn't expect this to be just a freestyle. It's just decent for a start. I like tha "work" part around tha 2:00 mark. My Rating: 3.6

04. "Piece Of My Mind"
Southpaw just hit me back, so I got to talk to him for 3 minutes, 9 seconds. He told me to continue my review, so, that's what I finna do, ya dig. It's all about my reviews, as they take ova tha internet! Let's see what this joint about… >>> This sounds like it's off to a better start than tha "Intro" joint. I like tha Savage/Pyrex Radio type of beat, and tha sounds in it. I like tha "D-boy" part, where it sounded screwed. Pretty nice 1st verse, and tha hook sounds pretty catchy. Great start to tha 2nd verse, as you said a TRUE line, "spit ova nothin' but original beats;" that's REALLY watz good 'cause jacked beats usually bore tha shit outta me! Not bad at tha rest of tha 2nd verse… Tha 3rd verse wasn't too bad. Maybe tha hook iz gettin' to me now, so I slowly started to ease off on really writin' feedback for this joint. My Rating: 3.9

05. "Money Makin' Machine" Feat. Big Head
A triple "M" title goin' on here… I hope it sounds better than tha last song. I like tha title, so let's see what kinda formula you gon bring to tha table… >>> Definitely a better beat, as I like all those sounds in tha beat! Great start to tha hook, and tha 1st verse iz already startin'… Tha 1st verse was pretty nice. I'm glad I'm hearin' that hook again. Ooh, Big Head on tha 2nd verse… He sounds better than you on tha rappin' here. I'm glad he said, "now, that's what tha fuck I call a cane reaction," instead of tha boring, "…I call a chain reaction," part 'cause too many people play out that line. He had a nice verse! Let's hear what you got on tha 3rd verse… Good 3rd verse also. My Rating: 4.1

06. "Real Talk"
Let's see what this usual title will bring in your opinion… >>> Not really into that beat intro, and this iz only 1:27. Okay, at about :14, it started gettin' a better feel to it. Tha rhymes on this iz pretty nice; decent joint for me. My Rating: 3.5

07. "Problem U Can't Solve" Feat. Reno Da Gutta
Now, this should be some tight shit, especially wit Reno on this bitch! >>> Good beat start here. Catchy hook, as it sounds like a catchy Baton Rouge hook I'd hear. GREAT start to tha 1st verse wit tha "I'm a mathematic problem you can't solve" line! I was feelin' ya verse right there, Sicka. I wonder who's gonna be on tha 2nd verse… I knew it, it was Reno. That's true about tha, "you don't want a problem witta—witta real nigga… *gun shot*," part. He deliverin' some of dat raw shit! Gotta feel everythang he be sayin' on his verse; great shit!! I'm hearin' your 3rd verse right now, and I like your, "in tha Honda wit tha work," line. I also like tha, "interlude, chea, I'd talk for a grand," part. My Rating: 4.2

08. "Tell Me What It Is" Feat. Dino Danja & Doe-Doe
Let's see "what it iz" wit these featured people on here… >>> Anotha nice Baton Rouge beat intro… Cool "big blunts" part in tha lil' part of tha hook; nice start! You had a nice 1st verse as well. Let's hear tha 2nd verse… Not bad so far… That "masturbate/calculate" part was definitely a tight lil' rhyme! Tha "purp smell" part was nice to hear too! Nice lil' 2nd verse right there. Now, how will tha 3rd verse compete? Well, he kinda jacked Lil' Wayne on tha, "where I'm from, we see a fuckin' dead body err-day," line. It still sounded pretty nice. My Rating: 4.0

09. "Shine So Bright"
Could it be very "shiny?" >>> Real nice beat intro! I feel like every beat keeps gettin' better or somethin'. Tha hook was definitely nice, and it looks like this'll be cool to hear! Tha 1st verse was pretty nice. Good lil' hood anthem right here. Let's see what happens on tha 2nd/final verse… Pretty nice as well. This was pretty consistant here. My Rating: 4.2

10. "If This Goes Down"
>>> I didn't know what to expect, so I didn't write anything before tha joint came on. Well, sorry, but it's off to a terrible start! 5:08 on tha length? My God… Tha beat intro iz too slow/not my style, and what tha hell wit tha hook? It SURROUNDED and came outta NOWHERE… Tha 1st verse was nice to tha females, but my God, what's wit tha quality of that hook? Shit… So, you got a "lil' boy," huh? That's cool. I got a 4 and a ½ year old ½ brother. At 3:01, I heard tha "if," in tha beginning of tha hook, and it didn't even go into it. Was that a mastering/pasting error? On tha 3rd verse, you're soundin' a lil' like Plies. That's good that you, "deal drugs to make funds," 'cause it hard out there in them streets. Tha talkin' at tha end sounds like tha next joint gon be a BANGER! Don't mind tha rating for this joint as I mainly judge of how jammin' tha joint iz to me. Plus, that hook was a throw-off to me, even though I started enjoyin' it a lil' more towards tha end. My Rating: 2.7

11. "Peep This" Feat. J. Hustle
Was he on Down Bad's latest "The Sickest 2K8" CD? *Checks* Yup, I'm 100% correct! Let's see how he hooked up wit you… >>> Now, this iz a better slow joint! What a REAL smooth beat, and just great rhymin' over it! Great 1st verse, hook, and I'm hearin' tha 2nd verse right now, and J. Hustle did some NICE shit on his part! Tha 3rd verse was just as good as tha 1st verse; nothin' really to quote. My Rating: 3.8

½time: Decent so far… Some bangin' jointz for me, but a bunch of decentness. I prolly expected a lil' better, especially when I first heard you on tha "Game In Stiches" joint wit Kevin Gates. I think I really liked that joint 'cause of it bein' Gates's song. I wonder what tha remainin' 11 jointz will sound like on here…

12. "How U Like Dat" Feat. Doe-Doe
Looks like a club banga. I wonder what will come outta my speakers next… >>> Tha beat iz cool/odd. Decent start so far for tha clubs… I think Doe-Doe gives this joint flava. Just hearin' tha hook though sounds a lil' cheesy… 2nd verse was just okay. My Rating: 3.7

13. "I Been That"
Goin' from a "dat" in tha title to a "that…" Let's see what this'll bring… >>> Good, it's longer (4:25 on tha length). Sounds like a Mouse beat… or maybe a Savage one. I like tha "retarded" parts in tha beginning. They give me a feel to like this shit better! Pretty nice beat and tha hook! Tha 1st verse was pretty nice to hear; can't really say much, but it was jammin'. Let's hear tha 2nd verse… Tha 2nd verse sounded better than tha 1st one for me. I do like your hooks, but after a lil' while, I feel annoyed. Maybe you shouldn't repeat them a certain way. My Rating: 3.9

14. "Keep Movin'" Feat. Young Ready & Reg
Lemme check to see if I know it… I don't, but I didn't remember for a sec that you and Ready collaborated on "Go Hard" from Ready's "Junkie Medicine (Cocaine Edition)" mixtape. Well then, I'm DYIN' to hear it if Ready's on this bitch!! I also wonder how that Reg dude gon sound! >>> Great lil' intro music!! With only :18 in, I have a feelin' this'll EASILY be tha best joint on here! Tha hook's kickin' in, and tha bass iz just BOOMIN'! Catchy/great hook! Now, you sound MUCH better on this hook AND on tha verse! Great shit! No wonder why Young Ready's on this shit! I hope he's got tha next verse… Yup, and he's deliverin' TIGHT shit! I like tha "I got Max pills" and tha "vest" part (where he's protectin' his chest). He did his fuckin' thang on this shit!! Let's hear tha Reg dude… Great start so far… That's cool that he's got an "LRG fitted" (as he said). Great verse, and yeah, by far, BEST SONG on here!! My Rating: 4.8

15. "The Way I Live" Feat. Bugsy
Cool featured artist's name. I hope this shit iz just as good as tha last joint! >>> I for some reason knew it wasn't tha Baby Boy Da Prince beat. This sounds like anotha anthem. I like tha "I blow doulja" part in tha hook. Pretty nice 1st verse on here. Let's hear how tha 2nd verse gon sound… Bugsy's on it. He sounds pretty cool. I like how he said, "dawg," twice. Matter fact, 3 times. That's watz good, and great verse! Nice 3rd verse also. My Rating: 4.1

16. "Boss In His Prime" Feat. Kevin Gates
How unexpected for a feature. Then again, if Ready was on this bitch, then you know tha strength continues wit Gates on this shit too! I'm glad y'all hookin' back up on this Rap shit 'cause "Game In Stiches" was tha HOTTEST joint (on a first listen) on "Pyrex Radio Vol. 4" (according to me). High anticipation level, especially for havin' this at No. 16!! >>> Strong piano intro! Great 1st verse, and that hook iz NICE! I'm really feelin' it, and these are tha jointz you should stick too! Gotta feel that beat! Tha 2nd verse was a lil' better for me on this shit! This shit tight, I gotta say it plenty of times! Let's hear how Gates gon sound… Of course, it's WAY TOO TIGHT wit tha lyrics, and that GREAT voice of his when it comes to rappin'! Oh shit, it's still goin'!! I'm glad he NEVA gives up wit this Rap shit, and I wish him tha best in luck all tha time! REAL, REAL GREAT verse Gates! Oh, and no hook at tha end? I guess it's good to end wit that beat! My Rating: 4.6

17. "Fall Back" Feat. A-1 & Doe-Doe
I thought for a sec that I knew it, but I don't know it. Let's hear if this can keep tha consistantess… >>> Yes, that HOT Baton Rouge start! Great start wit tha, "I'm a dog," part! Tha dude on tha 1st verse DEFINITELY had a nice verse! He just kept it real, and kept rappin' without bein' boring! Let's hear who's next… Just as good! Glad he's "blowin' purple piff." He DEFINITELY had a great verse for me to enjoy. Tha hook flows pretty nice wit this. Now, you're on tha 3rd verse… Yeah, your part was good, but I feel that your featured people are better than you (no offense). My Rating: 4.3

18. "Real Life Hustler"
Back to just you… I hope it's good, especially wit that title! >>> Good beat start; betta do good on it! That's cool that you were "married to cane." I'm also glad you "in tha trap" at times you can, dawg. Good shit on this joint so far… Looks like those previous jointz gave you a boost here! I like that 50% screwed hook! Ooh, I like tha "I smoke that X-Box…" part, and LOL @ tha "you smoke that Nintendo…" part. Great 2nd verse, and this joint was DEFINITELY a nice one, compared to some of tha other ones in tha past on here! My Rating: 4.2

19. "Paypa Talkin' Loud"
2/3's of tha mixtape title… Let's hear how it gon sound… Those "Pyrex Radio" sounds in tha beat intro! Pretty cool hook, and it just jumped into your 1st verse! Sounds like your hungry for this beat! Great 1st verse, and that hook reminds me of some B.G. type of shit. I'm glad you got "a full stomach" in tha trap. Nice 2nd verse, and I didn't expect this to be that short (2:51 on tha length). My Rating: 4.0

20. "Loose Screw"
What could I expect here? Odd/unexpected title… >>> Long one here (4:30 on tha length). Not bad beat… A lil' slow, and interesting rhymes. I thought it was gonna get tha "boring warning" from me, but who knows… Sorry, but iz boring me… I mean, I'm listenin' to tha lyrics, but, I didn't expect it to be so long/a freestyle. Wait, a lil' interest here: At 2:45, tha "ol' skool dayz" wit tha "…gettin' blunted right befo' school, mane. Skippin' class, fuckin' bitches in tha teacher's bathroom, Got expelled for smokin' weed in tha teacher's bathroom" part. That part REALLY interested me, as I had to rewind it back a few times to get tha quote right. Oh, so at 3:12, it's a conversation now. Okay, so that freestyle wasn't too long. I like tha "wahhhh" in tha beginning of tha talkin', and tha "purp" shit. That shit about tha purple was hella cool to listen to, and tha conversation itself sounded cool wit tha voices and shit. Y'all sounded like y'all had an interesting time. My Rating: 3.7

21. "Don Status"
Let's hear how you gon deliver this joint… >>> Interesting/great beat start! I like tha "used to slang yay/now slang medicine" part. Great 1st verse, as I really liked it. Tha hook iz pretty nice too! This could be your best joint by yourself on this mixtape! Tha 2nd verse was great too! You did yo thang on this shit! My Rating: 4.3

22. "What U Came 4"
"What I came 4" was to do this review, ya dig, lol. Let's hear how we gon finish this shit off… >>> Ooh, tha "I'm straight wit tracks, cousin" (whoever that dude iz that produces wit that signature intro). Tha beat iz DEFINITELY nice! Pretty nice 1st verse, and that hook iz DEFINITELY tight!! I hear someone on tha 2nd verse… There were no errors on tha back cover 'til now. I gotta identify who this iz. They sound pretty good wit what they spittin'! Great 2nd verse. That, "tell me what you came fo', nigga?" part iz catchy in tha hook! Tha 3rd verse was pretty nice too on this shit (from you). My Rating: 4.3
EDIT: I couldn't exactly ID who was on tha 2nd verse… Also, that's Guss on tha beat, cousin, lol!

Overall: End Time: 12:37 AM. Well, after a decent 1st ½, tha 2nd ½ DEFINITELY picked up pretty nice!! Now Sicka, you see my higher rated songs, make more songs/collaborations like that! Those are tha ones I was really feelin'! Keep doin' yo thang, and I hope to hear some more new music from ya in tha near future! I also hope you like this review!
