Review #238: Master P "The Ghettos Tryin' To Kill Me!"

Reviewed on 6.11.2009 (Review #238)

Ya boy FrankieThaLuckyDog iz back today! Startin' tha day off, I gon review anotha CD in my marathon: Master P "The Ghettos Tryin' To Kill Me!" This tha original version, and wit tha re-released version, I'm only gonna review tha newer tracks as "bonus tracks" (which will still appear in my rankings). Start Time: 11:26 AM | End Time: 1:55 PM

Disclaimer:
I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro
How we gon start off this 3rd Master P CD in my marathon? >>> LOL, I don't know what to say, but here's tha CD review, lol! My Rating: N/A

02. "Some Of These Hoes Jack" Feat. King George & Lil’ Rick
This should be a good startin' song for you and this CD of yours... >>> You sound a lil' different here from tha last CD I reviewed from you; tha beat iz nice on this one. Nice lyrics here wit tha "7-11" and shit like that; keeps me interested in hearin' tha shit. Good 1st verse, and good hook too. Somebody's on tha 2nd verse... *Analyzes on Wikipedia* It says King George and it also says Rev. Do Wrong; I'll put both of them on tha ID on this one 'cause someone else iz on tha 3rd verse too. Tha 2nd verse was real short, and aight. This 3rd verse iz soundin' great, especially how tha dude iz rappin' it! Pretty good start to this CD. My Rating: 3.9
EDIT: I googled, and only found King George featured. If anyone knows tha other person, let me officially know!

03. "Late Night Creepin'" Feat. Big Ed
Looks like a good title, and reminds me of tha Jako James "Creepshow" album title here... >>> Good beat again, and it sounds like anotha good verse from you here, P. Tha hook iz catchy; feelin' that "dope fiends... beggin' me fa crack" part! Good job on tha 2nd verse too; felt it betta. Tha 3rd verse sounds strong, especially remindin' me of tha Geto Boys "My Mind's Playing Tricks On Me" since you're gettin' paranoid wit what's goin' on in your ghetto here. Good job there, and there's a 4th verse; who iz that on tha 4th verse? Strong job here, especially leavin' someone's "heart in tha gutta!" My Rating: 4.2
EDIT: Had to google it... Featured iz Big Ed.

04. "Playa Haterz" Feat. JT The Bigga Figga, King George & San Quinn
This should be good too; 5:17 on tha length! >>> Nice chattin' in tha beginning in tha streetz. Good beat, as it kicked in at :35. Lemme see who this featured person iz (I wish Wikipedia and them actually sourced 'em, as well as tha mp3 files on this computer I'm on)... Okay, that's JT The Bigga Figga, and P, you were on tha 2nd 1/2 of tha 1st verse, doin' yo thang. Tha 2nd verse started wit you, doin' a good job again. Now, tha 3rd verse iz from San Quinn; didn't realize he was from back then as well. He did an okay job. Forgot to mention, good hook too before. Long ending, but it's not bad fa this song. My Rating: 3.8

05. "Somethin' Funky For The Street"
I wonder what to expect here... >>> Ooh, anotha talkin' intro. Yea, tha song kicked in wit a drug type! Yea, enjoyin' tha lyrics here; great beat too!! Tha lyrics continue to be great, especially since it got gangsta towards tha end of tha verse. Tha 2nd verse iz startin' now, and it's soundin' real. Short, but it did its thang. Tha 3rd verse iz here, and it's pickin' up where tha 3rd verse left off. Good job wit this joint right chea; it was "funky for tha streetz" and for me too! My Rating: 4.3

06. "I Got The Dank (Commercial)"
On Wikipedia, it just says it's a "commercial"; I'm assumin' this iz a skit about havin' "tha dank"? I'm lookin' real forward though!! >>> Yea, it iz a commercial break... Oh wait, there's rappin', so this'll be considered rated by me. Feelin' that beat as it's different. I like your style rappin' here wit these REAL GREAT "dank" lyrics; it all about tha drug lyrics, ya heard me! REAL GREAT job on tha 1st verse, and tha 2nd verse iz tha shit too!! Real great job on tha 2nd verse; definitely feelin' this shit!! You KNOW this shit gets BETTA and BETTA wit tha sniffin' goin' on!! My Rating: 4.6

07. "Anything Goes"
I guess "anything" will "go" here 'cause I don't know what to expect... >>> Tha beat kicked in pretty nice... Sounds like anotha paranoia attack song... Unlike tha last song bein' for me, this one ain't much of that. Tha lyrics go strong, as well as tha flowin'. I'ma have to offer a lyrical rating fa this song. Good job holdin' down tha verses and tha lil' intermission before tha 3rd verse. Lyrical Rating: 4.6 | My Rating: 3.2

08. "Study Being A Gangsta" Feat. King George
Interesting title here... I wonder what to expect? >>> Not bad start; nothin' really to say. A featured person? *Googles it* It says King George on Google, so I'll put him in tha ID. Tha hook iz good, so thumbs up. Let's see this 2nd verse... Although "tha ghettos tryin' to kill you," P, good thing you're still alive now! Good 2nd verse too; I like tha end wit "shoulda brought yo book," and then tha title was said. Interesting "studying" lyrics in tha hook! Overall, it was an okay song wit a good hook. My Rating: 3.6

½time: It sounds like it's a good start. Lots of interesting topics here, as well as havin' tha dank song to really help here. What could we have left on this CD? Lemme see...

09. "The Ghettos Tryin' To Kill Me!" Feat. Silkk
Lemme see wit this title track; iz it gon sound like #7? >>> Yea, it sounds more like that, although I think tha beat iz better here. I like tha "dope/carry an extra clip" type of lyrics though. Tha 2nd verse wasn't that bad too; likin' tha flow. Still good wit tha lyrics to tha title, but I'ma do like I did wit #7 wit this one: Lyrical Rating: 4.4 | My Rating: 3.3

10. "Bastard Child" Feat. Uhuru Wright
Interesting title... >>> This anotha song too that's not exactly for me? Shit... How come you were only able "to sell dope" and not able to do otha shit? Just wondering... Cool that tha singin' in this hook iz a Madonna part; thumbs up! Tha 2nd verse ain't for me either, but good job wit deliverin' real life lyrics. Anotha good lyrical song though, but not my style. Lyrical Rating: 4.7 | My Rating: 3.3

11. "Just An Everyday Thang" Feat. C-Murder & Del Gilbeaux
>>> This sounds a lil' betta for a start. Sorry to hear that you "just got shot," and you're "bleedin'," and shit. I like your "niggity--niggaz" part. Tha 1st verse was nice and mellow wit your voice and shit. Good job on tha verse. Tha 2nd verse sounds like you're expressin' an angry voice wit some great drug lyrics. A better song here that I can listen to. My Rating: 3.7
EDIT: Didn't realize that C-Murder was on tha 1st verse, as I decided to check to see if anybody was featured. My bad fa thinkin' you were on tha 1st verse.

12. Rev Intro (Commercial)
Lemme hear what this one sounds like... >>> I like tha "to yo attention" part, lol. Nice voice fa talkin', lol. Oh no, a "moment of silence" right when tha skit ended; sorry to hear about that death that happened. My Rating: N/A

13. "Rev. Do Wrong" Feat. TRU
What could've happened? Anotha lyrical song? >>> LOL @ tha style (West Coast)! Nice fast rappin', although I don't know how interested I'm into this song... Who's on tha 2nd verse? *Checks* I didn't see anything, so I can't put anyone in tha ID; anybody know? Well, after a lil' while, this sounded betta. Tha verses were okay; I couldn't say anything about 'em. My Rating: 3.4

14. "Hands Of A Dead Man" Feat. Big Nate
Good title, but IDK... >>> Interesting lyrics between tha "book of crack" and tha "cop car." Tha 2nd verse has some strong lyrics, referrin' to tha "choose your casket" and shit like that. Glad tha strong lyrics are stayin' fa this one. Tha hook sounds good; likin' that female sing tha title. Somewhat for me, but I'll still offer a lyrical rating. Lyrical Rating: 4.4 | My Rating: 3.7

15. "211" Feat. Sonya C
What does that mean (my bad if that a silly question)? >>> Sounds like a good start; okay beat start that can be interesting fa your rappin' here. Ooh, where'd dat gurl come outta at :27? Cool. Good 1st verse, and that "robbin'" hook sounds interesting, and defining for me. Sounds like you're strong on tha 2nd verse, whether you got bullets or not! Oh, neva mind, I'm sure tha title has to do wit like 411's, 911's; that's wat that iz (I'm sure). Interesting song. My Rating: 3.8

16. "No Limit Party" Feat. Silkk The Shocker & Mia X
Oh my, 7:10 on tha length!! I wonder who's on this? *Googles it* 2 different sets of features came up, so I'ma listen, and find out... >>> Sounds like a "party" start wit tha lyrics on this nice, slow beat. Good 1st verse on this, and yea, that hook sounds like it "tha shiiit." I like tha "all tha bitches say, 'niggaz'. All tha niggaz say, 'bitches'" part. That 2nd verse iz soundin' NICE wit tha "high" parts; keepin' this shit hot, No Limit style. Tha 3rd verse was tight; liked tha "dank" part. Now, here's tha 4th verse, and by her bein' in tha background, I knew it was gonna be featuring Silkk The Shocker & Mia X, so I gon put them in tha ID. Her part was short, but good I guess for a short verse. Oh, at about 4:30 in, here come shout outs; no wonder why tha length iz long. Okay shout outs; a lotta California shout outs. Great "biiiiiiiiiiiiiitch!!!" part at tha end! My Rating: 4.1

Overall: It looks like I spent 2.5 hours doin' this review, but I didn't. I took a short break fa like an hour to go out and eat lunch wit my dad. Anyway, decent CD. A few songs didn't get to my style, while tha rest of tha songs were decent. There were only a few that I really luved. Before I do tha rankings, lemme review tha songs that were not on this original version (yet, were on tha 1997 limited edition):

"Always Look A Man In The Eyes" Feat. C-Murder, Mystikal & Silkk The Shocker
This iz Track #2 on tha limited edition CD; lemme see what it has ta offer... >>> Ooh, great start wit C-Murder and Master P sounds like Sam I Am; REAL TIGHT hook!!! Tha 1st verse iz off to a REAL NICE start, yet soundin' RAW! REAL GREAT 1st verse wit tha drug related lyrics; tha "golds in tha mouth" iz tha shit, so thumbs up. Gotta say, "FREE C-MURDER!!!!!" I hate to see him in jail fa a long time! Ooh, anotha feature on tha 2nd verse here; Mystikal! He has a GREAT flow too wit a REAL GREAT voice!! Crazy shit!!! He's SO RAW!!! Sam I Am must've drawn an influence from him 'cause he just sounds NUTS!! Yea, continuing this HOT SHIT wit Silkk The Shocker on tha 3rd verse!! Tha rest of tha song ended REAL GREAT wit that hook and shit; REAL NICE shit here!!! My Rating: 4.8

"Robbery"
Tha last bonus song, so let's see... I have a feelin' this gon be good too! >>> Really feelin' that beat intro, as well as tha screamin'! GREAT start! Good job on tha 1st verse, and tha intermission before tha next one (wit tha baby cryin') was just too raw! Good job on tha 2nd verse too; tha "your under arrest" part was raw too. Ooh, hearin' tha hook and it's soundin' good. My Rating: 4.4
