Review #1,086: Calicoe The Champ "Death To The Champ"

Reviewed on 12.02.2011 (Review #1,086)

Due to my laptop has a virus on it, which makes my iTunes and browser slow, I decided to do some of tha reviewz I have to do at my college’s computer, located in tha radio station office. First up, Calicoe The Champ Death To The Champ!! Start Time: 2:33 PM | End Time: 3:11 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I already love it. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating! Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Free Admission”
Let’s see how we gon start it off! >>> It sounds like a nice, different-soundin’ beat, mixed wit your tight, consistentness! Interestin’ anti-advice from this “uncle,” lol; nice job for an intro track! My Rating: 4.2

02. “These Hoes” Feat. Carrington Spitz
Kinda seems like a random song, at first. However, I was asked by you to be in tha music video, so it goes to show you that this song automatically has value! Other people’d prolly make this song sound shitty and typical; you have a great voice, as well as Carrington Spitz, to make this a smash/quality song! Nice job wit all tha crazy “hoes” lyrics, lol! Once again, you have a real cool voice wit how you come through wit tha rhymes; definitely catchy, to tha fullest! My Current Rating: 4.3

03. “Death To The Champ”
Here’s tha title track! >>> Anotha good beat that sounds good for you; nice rappin’, here! Interestin’ hook wit tha speech; very catchy shit you bringin’ to tha table, once again, lol! You luvin’ tha “gritz;” lol! My Rating: 4.3

04. “Green Submarine”
Familiar-lookin’ title? What’s this? >>> Catchy sound, here, for that underground-soundin’ hip-hop music! Ooh, same voice of yours (that doesn’t transition) from tha hook to tha verse! LOL, sounds like your vocals has a lil’ bit of an underwater feeling to it; really likin’ that you added that to you voice! Thank God it ain’t auto-tune; thumbs up fa addin’ somethin’ catchy to your sound! Even got some water at tha end, I hear? My Rating: 4.4

05. “Hold It Down”
Really likin’ that most of tha lengths, here, are less than three minutes; they would fit nicely on my radio show, in a quick way! >>> This iz more catchy music for my earz! Nothin’ much to say, except that you got some consistent rhymes goin’ on wit this beat! Keep on holdin’ “it down;” you know what it iz! Overdose Entertainment & Grand Theft Audio Music in tha buildin’! A two-verse joint, here, comin’ th—lol, “Katy Perry kissed a girl;” nice, random, and funny ta hear, lol! Glad you showin’ people that you can “hold it down” by yourself, makin’ quality music fa err-body to enjoy! My Rating: 4.1

06. “Revolutionary Raps”
Nice title! Lookin’ forward ta hearin’! >>> Sounds like a good, mainstream-soundin’ beat. I like how you mentioned people “uploadin’ pictures on Facebook & Twitter,” here; people givin’ away too much info, lol. I think Facebook killed a bunch of rappers; a lot of their true colors were revealed, especially when I found out which ones ignored me, vs. when they were on MySpace! Now, you can see what they do and who they comment, unlike MySpace, where you have to browse other peoples’ profiles to see what others did! But, at least you’re real and all dat; got your numba and err-thang! Speakin’ of “revolutionary,” sounds like a nice, political 2nd verse that I’m likin’! Dr. Calicoe? Psychologist Calicoe? LOL… My Rating: 4.2

½time: Currently, a 4.3-rated CD; you definitely got tha consistency on lock, here, Calicoe!!!

07. “Still Dreaming”
What do we have here? >>> Sounds familiar; I can tell it’s John Legend on tha sample, but it sounds like I’ve heard this from somewhere else? I don’t wanna believe this iz a jacked-beat CD, since you’re a lil’ too advanced for jacked beats, ya dig? Really likin’ tha consistent-ass flow you got goin’ on, here; how much shit can you rhyme together, lol? Aimin’ ta “have … fresh air;” definitely! I think I should interview you for my radio show 2morrow, especially since you got this CD out! LOL @ tha cold, cut-off ending! My Rating: 4.2

08. “Change Da World”
Kinda like my song from three Falls ago! >>> Kinda dry on tha start, includin’ tha sample… Beat’s kickin’ in, a lil’, so let’s see how you’ll do… Sounds good wit your rhymin’, once again. Now, we have a song that has more than three minutes on tha length? Prolly should’ve been quick, like, one verse… Good street rhymes on tha 2nd verse; thumbs up! My Rating: 3.7

09. “War Chant”
Ooh, a “chant”! More than four minutes long? Wonder what this gon sound like… >>> LOL, I hear how tha voices in tha speeches are pasted in, lol! Nice beginning wit all these speeches… Nice job wit tha 1st verse, here; I thought I’d hear more chantin’ goin’ on? Tha 2nd verse has some catchiness; really likin’ tha ‘jungle’-themed lyrics! You definitely could be a wild “tiger,” lol! Ooh, a 3rd verse, too? Really focused, accuracy style, wit your “vision;” that’s what’s up! Nice ending wit tha title and tha album title! My Rating: 3.8

10. “S.O.S.”
Looks like some rescuin’ goin’ on? Back to tha under-two-minute songs! >>> Not bad wit tha beat; sounds good when you’re on it, especially wit this street shit, which iz pricele$$! You really want them “documents;” gotta have proof of everythang, which iz what I have! No one can hide anything when they communicate wit me!! I like tha “oh, fuck (fuck)” shit; nice “shoot ‘em up, shoot ‘em up” part, too! LOL, lots of repeatin’ words, back ta back! Damn, you keepin’ me company; prolly gon keep any listener company, too! My Rating: 4.3

11. “Pretty Soon”
Almost five minutes long? Hope it’s really good! >>> Sounds like it could be a strong beat? E.P. doin’ this long beat, as well as a speech in tha beginning. “Gorillas by night…!” Sounds like a slightly-slower flow, here, wit some killa bass; good rhymes, too! Really interestin’ hook wit this speech; luvin’ tha whole ‘speech’ theme, ya dig? Should’ve had tha word “speech” in this album title? Hearin’ tha 2nd verse, now, and lol @ tha “women givin’ birth” line, outta nowhere! Nice “boom” ta end tha 2nd verse, too; you got this rap shit on lock! Tha 3rd verse sounds good ta hear, too, as you’re keepin’ this goin’! LOL, there’s a “so you just lie? Yeah!” thing on this computer’s background wit Pinocchio, and it sounds funny ta hear tha speech in tha hook wit tha background, lol! My Rating: 3.8

12. “Nvwadohiyada”
Crazy-lookin’ title, here; almost four minutes, too? How we gon end it? >>> Okay start; not sure if tha speech iz too positive for me to listen to, right now… Good lyrics; decent rappin’ for me to hear… Really catchy on tha 2nd hook, wit tha “silence.” Ooh, you said, “Skull Duggery;” he called me from jail yesterday! We were on tha phone for 20 minutes, 3 seconds; he has a shitload of luv fa me! Real glad we’re holdin’ each otha down! My Rating: 3.7

Overall: I thought this was a nice CD from you; definitely a nice job! I think tha Grand Larceny one had songs that had higher ratings, but this CD seemed to be better, overall. I liked tha 1st ½ better than tha 2nd ½, but it all good, though.
