Review #1,130: Big Shane "Airplane Music"

Reviewed on 3.03.2012 (Review #1,130)

Keepin’ tha reviewz goin’, I got some Cut Tha Check Entertainment luv I’m showin’, here, from Big Shane Airplane Music; let’s see how it’ll do… Start Time: 11:53 AM | End Time: 12:16 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Ticket Counter” / Intro
An I.G.N. production; how will this sound? >>> Sounds like some classic-soundin’ music… Lol, here you are wit tha rappin’; I like how this sounds, especially for an intro track… Tha intro part toward tha 2nd ½ of this sounds okay; kinda random… My Rating: 4.2

02. “Airplane’n”
Didn’t know DJ Burn One (compound name?) produces tracks…; betta be a Southern vibe and not a typical, everyone-has-tha-same-sound sound! >>> Okay, I’m likin’ this; nice job wit tha production, and you’re doin’ a nice job wit your rhymes. Congratulations on tha 50,000+ views, 3,900+ streams, and 19,000+ downloads on DatPiff! Funny-soundin’ hook? Weird voice, but I guess I’ll accept this, since there’s more positives comin’ outta this… Damn, I didn’t realize tha length was almost seven minutes long? :confused Who are tha features in this song? I’m confused… Lol, anotha part toward tha end of tha song? My Rating: 4.3

03. “I Got It All” Feat. Birdman & K.O
What iz this? >>> No producer listed? Jacked? An okay sound; nothin’ special. What’s wit tha low-quality-soundin’ hook, and then, tha clear vocals from you? A paste? Not bad… My Rating: 3.5

04. “Super Clean” Feat. A.Smith
TrakkSounds on this beat. >>> Okay, but smh @ all tha “swag” shit in tha hook, especially sung? :confused Okay, tha beat’s addin’ some instruments durin’ your 1st verse; nice combo and not bad, overall, except tha hook. My Rating: 3.7

05. “Rags 2 Riches” Feat. Gerald G
A Yung Stylez beat. >>> Damn, they had put a beat tag in tha beginning of their beat, smh; hope that ‘trend’ ends!! Either way, lol @ tha Ludacris sample on tha hook; sounds like it’s a nice beat, overall, throughout this track. You got some consistent rhymes goin’ on here, Shane. As far as Gerald G, guess he really iz a “G” ‘cause his rhymes are nice; good job, includin’ tha voice he bringin’ to tha streetz! My Rating: 4.3

06. “Good Green” Feat. A-Dub
Not sure what ta make outta a no-producer-listed song… >>> Nice start from dat A-Dub dude! You know I luv me some “good green,” lol, especially when it’s in a song! Tha beat’s pretty hot wit this sound, fa a no-producer-listed song! Lol, here you are on tha 2nd verse, and you already know this shit’s on-n-poppin’! “Puffin’ on exotic;” you know what it iz! My Rating: 4.5

07. “Regulators”
Anti-DatPiff, here? They removed this; lemme see what we got for a 30-second sample… >>> Oh, no wonder (tha title, made plural); sounds good wit tha quick rhymes. Once again, R.I.P. Nate Dogg; who would’ve thought Whitney would be wit him in under a year! For a jacked beat, I like it. My Rating: 3.9

08. “A Mother’s Story”
Ryan Hunt on tha beat, but an apostrophe should be in tha title. >>> A really quiet start; sounds like a Sade sample in tha beginning, which iz gettin’ me anticipated ta hear this… After a 42-second anticipation, here comes tha beat, and it’s pretty nice…; givin’ credit ta this, fasho! Some of tha rhymes are ehh, but I can fuck wit this… My Rating: 4.2

½time: You doin’ a nice job wit this mixtape, so far, Shane; gotta get some of these jointz on my radio show! A 4.2-rated CD, currently!!

09. “Venting”
Yung Stylez on tha beat. >>> Lol, I thought you said my college’s name in tha beginning of your 1st verse… As for this joint, it sounds nice wit how you’re bringin’ it to tha streetz, wit this somewhat-laidback beat style… My Rating: 3.9

10. “Hatin’” Feat. 2feet
Big Retti beat, here; Two Feet usually spells his name as “2feet”, so I’ll put it tha way he spells it. >>> It’s okay, so far; seems like it’s 2feet takin’ over more of tha song than you, Shane. You’re soundin’ pretty-good wit tha shit you’re spittin’, even though some of this shit falls into tha ‘typical’ category, wit tha rhymes. Tha hook’s a lil’ catchy, but I feel like it’s a rip-off of Kevin Gates. :td Yea, I think this iz more like 2feet featuring you; it’s prolly on this mixtape ‘cause it’s a great collaboration. My Rating: 3.8

11. “Just Shane”
Kangaroo? Did I read dat right, lol? Time ta skip and hop wit this one? >>> Samplin’ some music in tha beginning, but it sounds hot for a really low BPM song, lol. Good job wit rappin’ on a beat like this; you’re strictly flyin’ wit this mixtape title, here! My Rating: 4.0

12. “Trippin’”
Nic Brem on tha beat, here. >>> Even slower, lol? Sounds like some creepy music, on a tight level; good shit… I also like that you don’t sound tha same wit your voice, here; keepin’ it gangsta wit this shit, too… My Rating: 4.3

13. “Stressin’” Feat. Lil’ Paul
A D Hall beat… >>> Sounds like a loopy merry-go-round wit tha beat sounds, here, lol; gotta feel it! Tha hook sounds tight; gotta toke on dat good! You doin’ ya thang, here, Shane; nice job! Once again, you collaboratin’ wit a tight-ass G, here, as this Lil’ Paul dude sounds like a big dude dat can kick ass! My Rating: 4.4

14. “Roll One” Feat. Settaman
Looks like a good title, again! >>> Sounds like a random, fast start… Now, I hear tha actual beat and song; an okay, good song about rollin’ “one” up. My Rating: 3.7

15. “One Life” Feat. Ace Money
Ace Money also producin’ tha track? >>> Damn @ tha beat tag and soundin’ like one of Cam’ron/The Diplomats’ songs from tha early 2000s… Even though it sounds like a previously-used loop on tha beat, this ain’t too bad for me… Ace Money sounds okay fa what he’s offerin’; a lil’ bit of a mix between The Show & Curren$y thrown into a blender. My Rating: 3.6

16. “Mama I’ll Save Us”
I dunno about this title; lol @ havin’ a Vybe beat end it off… >>> More of an outro, here, wit tha funny intro, lol. Okay, tha lyrics ain’t too bad, but tha vibe of this joint ain’t too special, since it sounds like typical, mainstream music. My Rating: 3.5

Overall: I thought this was a nice mixtape, Shane; great job wit your guest features, too, since most of them kicked lots of ass! Keep up tha great work wit your grindin’…
