Review #1,140: Fullgrown "The Grown Tape"

Reviewed on 3.30.2012 (Review #1,140)

Match My Hustle Entertainment & Off The Porch Records are in charge of this next review: Fullgrown The Grown Tape; how will it go? Start Time: 12:38 PM | End Time: 1:19 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Intro” Feat. DJ Black C (GoDJ)
>>> Interestin’ intro, sound; I like tha ‘Country Rap Tunes’, if you wanna call it that sound… Rhymes are decent; not bad for a start… My Rating: 4.0

02. “Grown Man Gangsta” Feat. Tha Kidd, Lil’ Desiana & Wrecka
Produced by Leezy. >>> Decent start…; Tha Kidd’s part sounds just as good as your part, only a lil’ betta wit his rhymes… Keepin’ it goin’ wit Desiana on tha 3rd part; still pretty good… Last, Wrecka, and it sounds okay, too… My Rating: 3.7

03. “Pop 1, Pop 2”
A solo song by you, produced by Superstar O. >>> Not really likin’ tha mainstream producers’ SFX. Tha hook ain’t too bad, but I’m not really into these mainstream lyrics on tha 1st verse… Tha 2nd verse iz a lil’ betta, but, like, no more than 5% betta than tha 1st verse’s content… My Rating: 3.5

04. “The Look Of It” Feat. Big League G
>>> Nice rhymes, especially fast, but damn, it’s 2012 and people still rappin’ on jacked beats? :confused No homo…………? Not too bad wit Big League G; sounds a lil’ like Styles P. I have ta say, you did a betta job wit this, Fullgrown… My Rating: 3.7

05. “Kimbo Slice”
Prolly could’ve used a different color than red on this back cover; hard ta see some of this shit… Anyway, GWP on tha beat. >>> This ain’t my style, especially wit these 2010-type lyrics; not for me… My Rating: 2.7

06. “Don’t Mess Around” Feat. Palmer J & King Rice
Produced by Charlie B, here… >>> Nothin’ too bad, here; at least there’s original, good-soundin’ production. Tha hook sounds good wit tha “I’m not ya round, nigga” line. Not bad wit tha 1st verse; nothin’ annoyin’, but tha content wit not messin’ “around”’s good… Tha 2nd verse sounds a lil’ betta wit tha rappin’, but not really wit some of tha typical lyrics… Tha final verse iz King Rice, soundin’ good and consistent wit tha rhymes, here. My Rating: 3.9

07. DJ Roy C Grown Tape (Promo Skit)
>>> What’s this gay-ass mainstream shit? :confused Would’ve rated a 1.0 if it was a song; not Louisiana and off-topic! :td My Rating: N/A

08. “So Jigg’d Out” Feat. Ganksta Mac (Tyght Wayz)
Anotha Charlie B beat; glad ta see Bell a.k.a. Ganksta Mac here!! >>> Nice vibe, here; feelin’ tha energy y’all bringin’ to tha table! Tha 1st verse sounds a lil’ funny wit tha club lyrics, as they’re non-stop; keep holdin’ it down. Hot 2nd verse, here; likin’ all tha energy, as this iz non-stop! My Rating: 4.3

09. “I’m So” Feat. Rodney Swaggerfield & Tha Young Spitterz (Leezy & Big League G)
Looks like it could be good wit tha lineup! However, havin’ “Swagger” in a name? :confused Don’t I just hate this trendy generation/decade in music! >>> Beat from Charlie B can be okay, dependin’ on how I take this…; tha 1st verse ain’t that bad—I’ll consider it decent. Let’s hear this “Swagger” dude on tha 2nd verse… It’s a lil’ boring wit tha flow, but it ain’t nothin’ bad, since it has a lil’ bit of catchiness to it… Tha rest of this ain’t too bad, either… My Rating: 3.5

10. “Memories” Feat. Mr. Phat, Leezy & Miss Thug
>>> Damn, people still use samples in their bea—oh, fuck it, there’s not even a producer listed! :td Wow, Asslickin’-Tune in tha hook? I thought females were ‘pose to sing sexy? :( Lemme just end this shit…; some of tha rhymes ain’t too bad. My Rating: 2.2

11. “Just Like Me” Feat. The Writer (J. Hues)
Superstar O on tha beat. >>> Not an interestin’ beat, here, but tha rhymes sound good and fast. Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, either; guess this suits for bein’ above decent. My Rating: 3.7

12. I’m Gunnin’ On Them (Skit)
Hope it’s Louisiana and normal. >>> Sounds like an interestin’ start. Cool that it’s pretty gangsta but why are there these soft songs on here, instead? :confused My Rating: N/A

½time: Barely crackin’ tha decent mark, so far; most of it’s decent, but there’s some downfalls… Currently, you’re at a 3.5 for tha CD rating.

13. “I’m Gunnin’ On Them”
A song, actually, produced by Superstar O. >>> Sounds a lil’ happy wit tha beat start, at first? … Okay, it’s a lil’ betta once I hear tha hook. Kinda short, but tha verse was not bad… My Rating: 3.8

14. “The Wood”
A GWP beat. >>> Wasn’t feelin’ tha first 20-somethin’ seconds, but tha hook makes up for that, as it sounds Southern wit this Bun B sample. You sound a lil’ like IL Duce on tha 1st verse, here; not too bad for a vibe like this… I think this ain’t too bad, overall; you holdin’ it down. My Rating: 3.6

15. “Upscale Music” Feat. Rodney Swaggerfield & Big League G
>>> Wow, turn-off for tha beginning! :td How can you have this T-Pain shit go on? :confused Anti-“grown”? Really not dealin’ wit this! Oh, even worse: tha 2nd verse has A-Tune in it? It’s like, get tha dick outta your mouth and get rid of dat A-Tune shit; use your regular voice!!! No more feedback fa dis shit… My Rating: 1.0

16. “Don’t Need It (In My Life)”
At least this iz an original production by Charlie B. >>> Beat sounds pretty nice, here; glad we’re back to tha normal music! Tha hook sounds pretty nice; glad there’s some betta shit on here! Nice job wit tha verses; above-average street song, here. My Rating: 3.9

17. “I Want You (N.O. Remix)” Feat. Fellon & Rodney Swaggerfield
Fullgrown, you doin’ some production, here? >>> Sounds pretty good; interestin’ blend of bouncy vibes, here! Good job wit all tha rhymes; they flow good wit this craziness, bounce style! My Rating: 3.8

18. “Whip Game Proper” Feat. Duke Dogg & Big Kurt
Not lookin’ forward ta a title like this, even though it’s actually original production by Str8Kidd… >>> A lil’ on a mainstream tip, here, wit how this sounds; nothin’ new or excitin’, so far… Ehh, tha rest iz like this, too; nothin’ bad, but nothin’ ta jump for joy about. My Rating: 3.5

19. “You Ain’t Worth It” Feat. Tha Kidd
A Dontae Dynamite production. >>> A lil’ soft, which iz soundin’ okay, so far… What? A-Tune on tha 2nd verse? Ironic ‘cause I was pickin’ my nose before I heard it! Bullshit + bullshit = bull-bullshit! My Rating: 1.6

20. “In Ya Cup” Feat. Leezy
And, produced by Leezy. >>> Why a beat tag? :confused When are people gonna be different than copying everyone in this stupid, 2010s generation? Song’s a lil’ betta than Fullgrown average, though; likin’ how you have a good vibe, here. My Rating: 4.1

21. “FCB (Fine, Classy, Bad)” Feat. Lil’ Chop
Prolly could’ve put tha “(Fine, Classy, Bad)” in white text, too? >>> WTF? I bet I heard this beat tag before (your beat tag w/A-Tune on it? You don’t have to chew on dick and make a beat tag at tha same time)! I almost feel like skippin’ this song ‘cause of that!! I still don’t know why tha beat tag was used here; it’s not like tha beat’s outstanding… Tha song’s okay, but this iz way too much on a mainstream tip fa me ta take serious! Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, though; I won’t criticize it. My Rating: 3.2

22. “Playa Been Chose (Comin’ Down)”
Prolly could’ve put tha “(Comin’ Down)” in white, too; Olympicks on tha beat. >>> Okay wit how this sounds, but iz this R&B or somethin’? Rofl @ tha Mike Jones sample on tha hook; we’re tryna be funny or somethin’? I’m actually gettin’ an ‘lol’ face, lol! :rofl :rofl My Rating: 3.8

23. “The Movement” Feat. Tha Kidd
You’re doin’ tha beat, again. >>> Fuck!! Get rid of that beat tag!!! This sounds above-average, at least; if I was ta play this on my show, I would remove tha beat tag ‘cause it’s super-embarrassing; super-embarrassing!!! Good collaboration, overall… My Rating: 3.6

24. Corey’s Rant (Skit)
>>> Not bad; good advice. My Rating: N/A

25. “We Don’t Talk To ‘Em” Feat. Leezy & King Chris
Endin’ it wit a Leezy production. >>> I don’t get tha need for beat tags; Geez… Beat has a lil’ bit of C-Murder “Down For My Ns” in it, but tha track sounds like it flows pretty nicely… “Pop ya top like a Pepsi;” thumbs up ta this catchy 3rd verse! My Rating: 4.0

Overall: This CD was mostly decent, but some of tha shitty songs made tha average CD rating go down to where I consider it below-average. Either way, at least you have original production on your CD! Time ta put tha A-Tune in tha trash!!!!!
