R.I.P. Video #25: Black Roy

A shooting turned fatal within tha 5200 block of Evangeline, last Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 12:30 AM. It's FrankieThaLuckyDog, broadcasting from tha woods in my backyard in Peckville, PA, lettin' y'all know that Anthony Jerard Jones, known in tha streetz of Baton Rouge as rapper Black Roy, was murdered. According to Baton Rouge Lt. Don Kelly, tha BRPD arrested 29-year-old Jermaine Ruffen, who investigators say was involved in a drug deal gone wrong with Jones and a woman. Ruffen opened fire at tha both of them, injuring tha woman and killing Jones; he then fled tha scene. When Ruffen fled, tha female victim told officers what had occurred. Ruffen threw an item away while escaping, turning out to be a stolen NOPD caliber that a K9 discovered. Tha service weapon was stolen from an off-duty officer's car in Baton Rouge, though never recovered. When police caught Ruffen, they charged him with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal possession of a stolen firearm and illegal use of a weapon. Jones was only 29 years-old.

In tha rap game, Jones was best known for bein' featured on Baton Rouge rapper, Young Ready's "That's How I'm Coming" mixtape, released in 2009, on tha songs, "Hitman" & "Out The Mud", also featuring Baton Rouge's Zion City Juice. When reviewed back on March 27, 2009, Frankie rated "Hitman" a 4.9/5.0 & "Out The Mud" a 4.8. Frankie also made a 60-second commercial for tha mixtape, putting Black Roy in tha features, and even radio-editing "Hitman", just to show Black Roy luv.

Jones' funeral service was held earlier today, Saturday, June 29, 2013, from 9 AM - 10 AM. Jones iz survived by his spouse, Sherika Ellis Jones; mother and stepfather, Johnnella and Jeffery Lethermon; father and stepmother, Jerry and Arclette Breaux; daughters, Ralayjah Jones and Demonne Ellis; sons, Quincy Williams, Anthony Smith and DeAnthony Marshall; sister, Natasha Jones; brothers, Jerry Lee Breaux Jr., Kendrick Breaux, Ronald Eubanks, Prentice Jones, Clarence Swayzer, Courtland Coleman and Christopher Spears; and grandmother, Cordeal Breaux, Plaquemine. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie Mae and Morris McCastle, Henry Breaux and Ollie Jean Lethermon.
