Review #1,809: DJ Tremon "Hottest In The City 3"

Reviewed on 8.14.2019 (Review #1,809)

A lil’ longer of a nap but I can’t stand my lower back pain, anymore… Gonna keep tryin’; here goes my review for tha birthday boy, DJ Tremon Hottest In The City 3! Start Time: 1:25 PM | End Time: 2:40 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2019 CD Review (Review #1,809) reviewed on 8.14.2019 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. Meter Gang “Designer”
R.I.P. Austin On Tha Track. >>> Mighta reviewed b4, when Austin passed. Just decent; not feelin’ tha hook at all, with tha gay vocals. A tad betta wit tha 1st ½ of tha 2nd verse but then, tha weird vocals come in toward tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse; no comment. My Rating: 1.5

02. NBA YoungBoy feat. Future “Right Or Wrong”
>>> Pointless in me reviewin’ YoungBoy; sounds like a whinin’ Lucci. Hearin’ tha 1st verse from YoungBoy and once again, I just can’t get inta his overrated-ass. Wanna hear when he make a song that doesn’t features lyrics about “money” or his “sons!” That’ll be tha day! As far as Future on tha 2nd verse, it’s tha same flow as YoungBoy’s, only worse fa me. This ain’t 100% Louisiana; only 50, due to Future. My Rating: 1.9

03. Louis Badazz “Ratchet (Freestyle)”
R.I.P., as well. >>> Much more on a Louisiana tip, fittin’ your mixtape compilations! Good lil’ hook; almost sounds like an original track than just a freestyle. Good job wit tha verse; good set of energy runnin’ thru his veinz! “Born a ratchet;” good shit! My Rating: 4.2

04. Jay Lewis “Here I Go”
>>> Not anticipatin’ this “Here I Go” jacked beat… Just sounds like braggin’; woulda been betta wit an original beat! This 2018, here & we’re still rappin’ off non-original beats??? Damn, a 2nd verse! La-la-la…; blah-blah-blah… My Rating: 2.2

05. Young B “Where The Tabs At”
Woulda prolly added this to my playlist at tha time, but I think I was goin’ thru shit… >>> Still, definitely nice; gotta give my boy a good review fa tha good track! Lookin’ fa “where” err-thang good “at,” on tha hook; nice! Beat sounds like a quiet club banga, which iz interestin’ fa this kinda vibe… Hearin’ what he got on tha 1st verse and tha flow cool; good shit. Gotta luv tha flow toward tha end of tha 1st verse; good emotion about tha “tabs” and “lean!” Go, “lean!” Tha 2nd verse soundin’ just as good as tha 1st verse, no doubt! “Gimme ‘bout 15;” that’s how long it takes to get to every spot in BR! Every spot “15” minutes away, which iz always good when connectin’ wit peeps. My Rating: 4.6

06. Backdraft “All Of A Sudden”
>>> Sounds a lil’ betta than tha female on tha 1st edition. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it str8; can’t complain. Hearin’ tha hook and I’m kinda diggin’ how she repeats tha title a few times. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it str8, as well. Just an okay track fa me; nothin’ too special, tho. My Rating: 2.8

07. Jaye London & Famous “Catch My Balance”
>>> Tremon lettin’ tha streetz know, “Free Famous,” here, on tha intro. Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty dope! I’m diggin’ tha “loaded” shit, as well as this semi-calm beat, over a club vibe! Diggin’ tha “Catch My Balance” shit; nice! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; great lil’ collab! Likin’ how they alternate between tha verse! Been “poppin’ barz fa five dayz;” definitely nice! Gotta luv they party vibe! Always give me excitement fa tha future! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and they alternatin’ again; dope shit! Damn! His “face wet;” crazy shit! Tha shit Tremon can bring outta people! Dope shit, all tha way round! My Rating: 4.6

08. Picasso feat. Kocaine “No Mo Gangsta”
>>> Almost sounds like a mainstream-soundin’ beat but I’m feelin’ tha transition of club bangaz, here; nice hook… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and yeah, it’s all about bein’ an “‘80s baby” ‘cause we #80sBabiesInOur30s, as I say! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it str8; good job, Kocaine… My Rating: 3.9

09. Lil’ K feat. Jay Lewis & Spitta “Kut Up”
>>> Sounds like a cool lil’ hook, kuttin’ “up!” All about reppin’ fa tha Boot’s cities! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds good. Not as special as some of tha club bangaz on here but it’s more on a street vibe, wit tha vocals… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ str8, too… Got Spit on tha 3rd verse, a.k.a. tha “Spit Guy,” here, soundin’ great, of course. Definitely feelin’ how he comparin’ shit to states vs. tha hook’s cities! Good shit! My Rating: 4.0

10. Beretta Bred “No N Between”
>>> This dude sounded a lil’ cool fa tha streetz on tha intro (which was tha outro of tha last song). However, tha voice he has on tha hook sounds too much like a mainstream voice. Hearin’ him on tha 1st verse and it’s not terrible but I don’t take these vocals serious… More of an organic-soundin’ voice on tha 2nd verse, here; likin’ that beginning part of tha 2nd verse (“grind tha weed…”). More on a street vibe than club vibe, here, but still sounds good fa this mixtape. My Rating: 2.7

11. Arthentic “Rise & Grind”
>>> No thanx! Auto-tune’s bad wit rappin’; fuck tha singin’ even more!! *Skips* My Rating: 1.0

12. Bolo “Regular”
>>> Sounds like a cool dude on tha hook wit tha “dat’z wassup” part; let’s see how this turns out… Beat kinda cool fa rappin’, between tha streetz & club vibes… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and he aight wit tha rhymes. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it str8, as well; can’t complain… Hearin’ him on tha hook at times & it reminds me of a Johnny Hu$tle flow, just a different voice. My Rating: 3.8

13. Viper “Bitches”
>>> Anotha chick, here; kinda likin’ her hook, here. Almost sounds like Lil’ Jon on tha YoungBloodZ “Damn!” “Don’t start no shit, it won’t be no shit!” Her part iz: “Bitches stay talkin’ shit but they don’t neva do shit.” With that bein’ said, hearin’ her on tha 1st verse and as it sounds nice, I have to admit, I like when she raps fast! Usually, I been dislikin’ that, lately. Hearin’ what she got on tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice; quickly transitioned to a lil’ talkin’ and then, some chantin’. Usually, I wouldn’t admit to givin’ a female rapper a 4.0, these dayz, but this track’s got it! My Rating: 4.0

14. Johnny Hu$tle “Right Na”
Glad I was predictin’ somethin’, two songs ago (without payin’ attention to tha tracklist)! >>> Sounds like a catchy hook, as well as tha beat; nice job, H-You-Dolla$ign! Hearin’ him on tha 1st verse and he in luv wit tha bitches, as always! He in luv wit love, strictly lovin’ everythang… Wish he would apply some of that love to me (doin’ business, that iz & connectin’ in person). I still have yet to link up wit Hu$tle, as every Louisiana trip progresses. Hearin’ him on tha 2nd verse and, a “PA” shout out (to me? Prolly not, tho.); good shit. Likin’ how he sound consistent toward 2:10ish; “Tazmania!” My Rating: 4.2

½time: Affected by a few shitty songs on here, resultin’ in only a 3.2-rated CD. I feel like I like this mixtape, tho—tha good tracks, that iz! Let’s keep it goin’…

15. JT “Def For That Gang”
>>> Sounds aight, so far; a good club banga? A good/consistent-rhymed 1st verse, here. Hearin’ tha hook and it not really catchin’ on fa me. I don’t thank it wack but I thought it woulda been catchier… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds like a nice lil’ undaground street vibe. My Rating: 3.6
EDIT: S/O to OMG JT! OMG Da Label!!

16. B-Thone feat. C-Loc & Fiend “Getting Paper (Remix)”
Was kinda lolin’ at tha sample kickin’ in… >>> Sounds cool/funny wit tha “I’m A Grinder” sample in tha hook, here; good shit. Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Thone and it’s soundin’ str8. I know him from Tha Antidote’s Joe On The Track (from Real Profit Entertainment) & a decade ago. With that bein’ said, good lil’ blend wit this mixtape/vibe, here. Keepin’ it goin’ wit an extra decade-and-a-half ahead of him wit Loc on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit good shit. Can’t deny his consistency in tha undaground; glad he keeps it goin’. Oh, that hook, lol! When Kevin had a funny/catchy voice! Keepin’ tha ‘90s rappers goin’ wit Fiend on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit his heat. A 225-to-504 connection, here, soundin’ nice; good shit. Can’t deny when err-body know how ta handle these club beats by combinin’ tha streetz & club vibes together! That’s how you do it! My Rating: 4.4

17. Ace feat. Da Trio “2 Da Max”
Sounded good from tha last few seconds of tha previous song’s blendin’… >>> Sounds like a good hook; feelin’ tha unknown, undaground rappers feelin’ “2 Da Max!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and they sound good; “yea wit da yea!” Gotta always do it “2 Da Max!” My last trip to BR, I only slept three hours! I wanted as much action as possible! Tha only reason I slept was to charge my camera; that was it! I kept it goin’ that followin’ day, as I flew, drove a few hours to my job (at tha time) & then, to tha casino for free play! “2 Da Max!” With that bein’ said, tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, as well; gotta keep it goin’! A 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice, as well; can’t deny it! My Rating: 4.1

18. Krucial “Light On”
>>> Sounds like a cool hook; gotta be “in [yo] zone!” Likin’ how this “light” be “on,” here; “I’m fulla dat shit!” Got guilty feelings hearin’ about all these “fulla dat shit” feelings! Soon, Frankie! Soon! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and this sounds nice; can’t deny it, here… Iz this tha same Big Krucial I knew from earlier in tha decade, where they were diagnosed wit cancer? He, like, 41, now? If so, he my dude; forgot what his voice sounded like. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s cool, too; can’t deny tha good club vibes, here. My Rating: 3.7

19. Bossman Dre feat. Tony Michael “Favorite Stripper”
>>> I’ono… Was just sayin’ to myself, as tha average CD rating starts risin’, “No more shitty songs to keep it up, right?” Well, not really; not tha shittiest but I’ll tolerate this, fa now. Not really inta today’s R&B/singin’ shit; not catchy at all fa me. That’s how I feel about tha hook, here. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not 100% R&B, as we have tha slow rappin’, here; decent/ehh… Even tho I’m not tha craziest about this, hearin’ this in Tremon’s club nights must be nice! It’s always about undaground music; always! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and I’ono about all this spendin’ shit. It’s like, err-body can afford havin’ a girlfriend & kidz but not a music video or (at tha time) a $20 mixtape appearance, smh. That’s why I don’t fuck wit none of dat, on a serious tip. My Rating: 2.1

20. Tweeday “Love Me”
>>> Almost wanna skip wit that hook’s voice! Don’t wanna be disappointed that it’s Tweeday, so I’ll see how much more I can take of this… Naw! After 30 seconds, that’s enough! Where’s tha club bangaz of his?? *Skips* My Rating: 1.0

21. Luxury Dyme “Fall Thru”
>>> A female, here; sounds like an undaground Nicki or some1 I don’t fuck wit. Yeah, I don’t really have feedback fa this one; boring/not fa me. My Rating: 1.2

22. Whop Bezzy feat. 70th Street Carlos “Feeling Myself”
Maybe, I can have some luck, here? >>> This sounds like a cool lil’ club banga…; nice lil’ hook! Gotta feel yoself! Hearin’ Bezzy on tha 1st verse, “in tha back like a book sack;” good shit! Feelin’ tha energy—gotta bring dat energy! I neva got ta hear Carlos, yet, but I’ve heard of him. I’m lookin’ forward ta hearin’ what he got on tha 2nd verse, here… He sound cool; I fucks wit him, instantly! Definitely hope a bright future’s ahead fa him; good shit! Definitely a nice lil’ collab; I give this one props! My Rating: 4.3

23. NBA YoungBoy “Through The Storm”
Sounds like we’re back to tha sour voices… >>> Why anotha appearance from him? “We on dat cloudy doe-doe;” bet he don’t know who Doe-Doe iz (Boosie’s cousin—oh, I let tha cat outta tha bag)! Basically, that’s me sayin’ YoungBoy ain’t 100% on his BR shit. God, he even said, “do-do,” on tha 2nd verse, too; he only wishes! I kinda am feelin’ a guilty pleasure vibe wit tha hook, tho. I think I’ll give this one a lil’ bit of props but as a guilty pleasure! My Rating: 4.0

24. Calliope Poppa “Project Hoes”
>>> Tha energy iz phenomenal, here!! Luvin’ tha bounce vibe, “out dat 1-0-3!” Thought that was “Gangsta’s Paradise” in tha background; definitely catchy, too! Hope this dude keeps tha consistent energy comin’, throughout tha years ta come! Changin’ up at :58? Oh, well, no more “Gangsta’s Paradise”—oh wait, it came back, lol! Luv tha confusion and unexpected turns this track’s takin’! Time for “Ready Or Not” ta hit ya, now… Was gonna say, how long iz this? I see it’s only 3:03; prolly maxed out at three minutes, so it’s fine. My Rating: 4.3

25. Bezo Luciano “Everything Big”
Watch him “Cut Up Bad,” as he says. >>> Mouse on tha beat! Sounds like somethin’ I mighta heard b4? Then again, I’ll just act like it’s somethin’ I neva heard b4, right nah… Feelin’ what he got, as far as “Everything Big,” on tha hook; good shit! Good shit on tha 1st verse, too! Gotta have “big” dreams! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and he keepin’ tha energy comin’! Likin’ tha “shmoke” and “throat” lines, back-2-back; good shit! Got a 3rd verse, too; gotta keep it comin’! My Rating: 4.2

26. Kocaine “Coming Back”
As he comes “back” fa anotha one… >>> Beat sounds too mainstream fa me; decent hook but no “jiggin’” wit this mainstream-soundin’ beat. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and let’s see how he can keep tha streetz comin’… I’ono, it’s aight; I rather hear a different beat, tho. It sounds like anybody in they right mind can make somethin’ like dis… Mo rhymes comin’ outta tha 2nd verse, here, but I’ll put tha rating right down tha middle, due to its typical soundin’… My Rating: 2.5

27. Jay Lewis “The Long Way”
>>> Oh God, a sing-rappin’ track… Sounds annoying wit tha hook; not really my style, here… Either way, I still think it would sound nice in your club sets! Just not to my solo earz… My Rating: 1.3

28. DJ Tremon “DJ Tremon Freestyle”
Ooh, a surprise fa tha ending, wit an original producer’s credit (Eazy Beatz)? >>> I’m diggin’ it; I always dig that you have a good mood to you, when it comes to what you bring to tha table. It brings tha best outta people like me & that’s why I show you luv. See, at least you have an original producer on your freestyle, unlike some of what you showcased on jacked beats! But yeah, good goin’; maybe, more bonuses at tha end of tha next comin’ mixtapes? My Rating: 3.8

Overall: I thought it was good, despite there bein’ those tracks I ain’t really fuck with. I think you bring a good, nostalgic vibe to tha table & that’s why I’m takin’ tha time out ta review these…
