Keepin’ tha reviewz up, I got a newbie up next by tha name of Lil’ Felon; this dude seems anticipatin’! I finna review his debut mixtape, “Da Truth”!! Hopefully, it iz “da truth,” ya dig? Start Time: 9:23 PM | End Time: 10:23 PM


Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. Intro / “What You Gone Do Next”
Tha title threw me off as I thought it was gonna be dat “what you gon do wit dat…” song everyone raps on or whateva; hope this iz good for a start, especially since it’s ova 4.5 minutes long!! >>> Was gonna say, why iz it so low in tha beginning? Sounds like it’s slowly gettin’ louder but it’s just an intro in tha beginning here… Sounds like it’s a scene in tha streetz or somethin’. Okay, I think I hear some action ‘round 1:28… I think you said you produced a bunch of this shit accordin’ to your DatPiff profile? I don’t think this iz an original beat; sounds jacked… Well, tha hook sounds pretty good but what’s wit tha tag distractin’ me from listenin’? Anyway, I’m hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and I think you have a GR8 voice fa dis shit; nice and gutta from tha undaground!! GR8 content and tha hook (hearin’ for tha 2nd time) sounds REAL nice wit tha shit you spittin’!! Tha 2nd verse has consistent rhymes goin’ on here!! Definitely likin’ dis shit and you DEFINITELY have GR8 potential, ya dig?!? My Rating: 4.4


02. “Me & My Forty”
Keep tha gutta shit comin’ along!! >>> Damn, didn’t wanna hear a “Get Crunk” beat; doesn’t sound like it would be anticipatin’. However, you sound pretty nice on tha hook here! I guess ‘cause this iz just a “mixtape” dat you ain’t produce anything on here… Hope I get ta hear some original shit before tha end of tha year so I can get you on my radio show, ya heard me? Tha 1st verse sounds GR8 wit how you’re startin’ ya day off! “Smoke purple weed;” dumb shit! I hear a betta view of tha hook and it’s soundin’ REAL NICE wit “takin’ a ride wit yo forty!” Tha 2nd verse sounds like it’s on some REAL-ASS tight shit when it comes to tha street lyrics; hot shit comin’ from you!! I don’t get tha wasted 40ish seconds at tha end of just tha beat… My Rating: 4.5


03. “In Da Projects”
Looks like a tight topic wit a GR8 title!! How GR8 will it be? >>> Beat sounds like a “Watch My Shoes” rhythm and I don’t recognize it… I don’t think. Tha hook’s soundin’ pretty nice here, reppin’ for yo “projects!” Tha 1st verse sounds like some GR8 shit goin’ on in tha hood where you’re at; dumb shit!! Tha 2nd verse almost sounded like someone featured at first but I believe it’s you; I would hope you list features when they’re on here though… Nice job wit tha consistent street shit! My Rating: 4.4


04. “Rap Niggaz”
Now, what’ll come out yo mouth this time? >>> Yucky sounds of Nitti here on tha beat so I know it’s on tha jacked side. Lots of these beats are so old, I barely remember ‘em, lol… Tha 1st verse sounds like you tryna hold it down fa tha streetz at all times here! Sounds nice and tight wit err-thang goin’ on!! I’m hearin’ tha hook and it’s true; street shit to tha bone!! Tha 2nd verse sounds like you feelin’ real good wit what you do on this shit! I dunno about tha beginning where you were like, “Felon on a Nitti beat;” it’s just a jacked beat… You know a jacked beat, especially near-Pop, doesn’t give me anticipation at all! Surprised a 3rd verse fit and it sounds good; you held it down to tha end!! My Rating: 4.3


05. “Do You”
What could this be? >>> LOL, “Over Here” beat? What’ll you have ta say? Tha hook’s a lil’ catchy wit how you handle tha gangsta shit… Tha 1st verse sounds like you’re all ova tha place ta where people’ll notice you, which iz good! Tha 2nd verse sounds like you’re still enjoyin’ parts of your life here, which iz also a plus. Thought there’d be a 3rd verse here but it’s a real long outro, lol? Kinda cool but real long… My Rating: 4.1


06. “They Got Me Fired Up”
A lil’ shorter here; let’s see what you got goin’ on… >>> Doesn’t sound dat familiar on tha beat… You sound pretty good on tha hook; doin’ a nice job here wit tha catchiness! Tha 1st verse sounds like you’re on tha focused tip here; keep it goin’! Tha 2nd verse iz keepin’ thangz movin’; I’m likin’ dat flow right ‘round tha 2:00 mark! Also, good G-shit bein’ spit here! LOL, no 3rd hook? Oh yea, this was pretty quick… My Rating: 4.3


07. “Face Down, Ass Up”
LOL, sounds like you breakin’ it down fa tha ladies? >>> LOL, I dunno ‘cause it’s a “Roll Call” beat so this iz pretty weird on a Lil’ Jon/Crunk beat, lol! This iz tha kinda shit dat’s aight fa me on tha 1st verse; why’s tha length tha same as tha original beat itself? You didn’t cut it down or anything? Tha 2nd verse sounds like a feature? If so, who iz it? I see you be fuckin’ wit people like Dino Danja, which iz what’s up! LOL, it’s ending already? Oh, someone else hopped onto tha 3rd verse here? See, this iz where your keywords on DatPiff SUCK ‘cause I can’t figure out who it iz… Not bad wit what they spit; they were kinda low on tha voice… What? Now, there’s like 70+ seconds left in tha beat; why? My Rating: 3.7


08. “She Runnin’”
I dunno about tha double female songs… >>> LOL, sounds like Rihanna’s “Rockstar 101” beat or somethin’ in tha beginning… This iz just decent for me; I don’t really have anything ta say… I thought there was no 2nd verse but it was short and aight… I still think it sounded like a long outro though wit tha beat… My Rating: 2.5

09. “Let A Nigga Get Cha Right”
What’s this? >>> Damn, what’s wit all tha female songs? I thought this was ‘pose to be a gangsta-soundin’ CD or somethin’? Tha verses are just aight but fa me, they’re a lil’ soft. I can hear this shit on someone else’s CD… Even tha beat’s gettin’ watered-down fa me. My Rating: 3.1


10. “Share My World”
>>> Sounds like more in tha beginning, smh… No comment on tha 1st verse; sorry. Tha rest of this was boring… WTF? I thought it was over but I gotta wait anotha 1:08? Why are tha lengths not shortened? My Rating: 2.4


11. “Who Da Truth”
Can we finally have a comeback?!? >>> Okay, much betta on tha beat sound (don’t recognize it)!! Ooh, tha hook’s hella catchy wit dat “who da truth? Who da truth?” shit repeatin’!! You’re soundin’ pretty good on tha 1st verse here; sounds nice and gutta!! Tha 2nd verse sounds like some mo hot shit’s comin’ from you!! ROFL @ tha near-5.5 minute length!! Tha 3rd verse’s holdin’ it down fa tha streetz; nice job, my boy!! My Rating: 4.5


12. “G”
ROFL @ just one letter!!! >>> ARGH!!! Three times in two dayz I heard rappin’ on this beat and this song’s three years old, lol!! But, you made me laugh wit just tha “G” so I gon look forward ta hearin’ what you got… Tha verses sound pretty good here; I like how you holdin’ it down fa ya peoples!! Too bad fa tha one dat “got hit wit 20 flat!” They were gonna give my boy Yung Yola 15 “flat!” My Rating: 4.2


13. “Real Shit”
I like titles like dis so you KNOW you gon do tha damn thang!! >>> Tight beat choice here and it sounds pretty nice on tha hook!! You’re goin’ off on tha 1st verse here wit your content; dumb shit!! “Tha streetz want dat fire;” most definitely! Interestin’ “quarter key” rhymes here in tha 2nd verse, strictly doin’ tha damn thang!! My Rating: 4.4


14. “Penitenry Chances We Take”
What a title here!! Let’s see what’s up! >>> Oh, fuck! A gay-ass “I’m So Hood” beat? Nice, horrible memories here! Tha 1st verse sounds pretty strong wit tha content you spittin’; GR8 street shit! Tha hook sounds like someone else iz on this? They sound a lil’ like Waka Flocka and did tha damn thang on tha hook! LOL, they’re on tha 2nd verse too and they’re doin’ good!! My Rating: 4.0


15. “Pussy-Ass Nigga”
Okay, I see your attitude; let’s see what you got! >>> No wonder why tha title; it’s tha actual title’s beat! Tha 1st verse sounds good wit how you deliverin’ it; nice street shit here! Tha 2nd verse sounds good wit tha consistent G-shit! My Rating: 4.1


16. “Felony, Where U Be”
Interestin’ title ta end it off! How will it sound? >>> Endin’ it wit an “A Bay Bay” beat; yawn… You sure this mixtape ain’t from ’07 or somethin’ and not ’10? I thought dat was Chris on tha hook fa a second but it sounds catchy fa what it iz… Tha 1st verse sounds aight; kinda soundin’ a lil’ gay wit tha dancin’ outta nowhere… Damn, what’s wit dis 5:02 length? Tha hook’s kinda gettin’ cheesy wit how it sounds now… Tha 2nd verse has a much betta sound to it wit all your “fresh” shit; gotta luv tha “’Bauds!” Tha 3rd verse iz kinda decent but it goes fa what it iz. Didn’t realize your name was “Felony” at first, lol. My Rating: 3.8


Overall: Tha 1st six songs were NICE and consistent! Then, it took a big toll wit four back-to-back female songs outta nowhere but then, it picked up a lil’ bit but not as good as tha beginning. Pretty solid mixtape for a start; hope to hear some original beats soon!
