Review #826: FrankieThaLuckyDog "Within A Personal Point Of View"

Reviewed on 2.18.2011 (Review #826)

With a mini-return to tha reviewz, tha 1st review I finna get into today iz actually me, FrankieThaLuckyDog. It’s my debut album, Within A Personal Point Of View, released on my own label, Lucky Dogz Entertainment! All these tracks were written and produced by me; that’s tha only way ta do it, in my opinion! I made most of tha tracks two months ago unless noted. Due to many things on my hands, I haven’t heard most of them since then (or heard them more than once). Wow, I’m excited fa dis, lol! Happy birthday to my boy Crooked outta Pure Entertainment, too! What a great day ta review!! Start Time: 9:28 AM | End Time: 11:48 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Intro”
Damn, this iz gonna be a pretty-in-depth review ‘cause it’s all me, lol. Wit this, I didn’t want it to be a typical “intro,” where it’s just a talking “intro;” I decided to rap on it. I used only one beat sound by touching tha first key on tha keyboard on tha far-left side, all tha way to tha far-right side, consistently. Even though my voice could be a lil’ betta, tha rhymes are definitely a plus; you know I have real, personal, lyrics! I’m definitely likin’ how I was able to hold (later, edit) each key on tha keyboard to make a beat outta one sound! I really like how I said, “take a knife, cut me open, and feel tha talent;” it’s a raw, descriptive line about how much iz actually inside of me! I don’t believe in death when I say, “I believe dat Autistic people don’t die; we live fa’eva!” Tha “audio, video” part sounded like tha old Young Ready, lol! Looks like I’ve been listenin’ to lots of music, lol. My Current Rating: 4.6

02. “Change Tha World” Feat. Tha Wennipearl
I believe this iz tha only feature on my CD (my cousin Jen, who I’ve always called “Wennipearl”). I have another artist on my CD that you’ll see/hear later. Wit this song, it was written between September 10, 2008 – October 8, 2008. It was mainly a statement and feelings about how I feel about tha world, today. It was released as tha 1st official single from this album November 4, 2008, in honor of Election Day. Tha music video was released tha same day, too, to prove my consistency! Because this iz older than Fall 2010, I had wrote tha lyrics before producing tha song. Also, because this iz older than tha year 2010 itself, I had did tha beat in Fruity Loops. Now, for tha song: I like my lil’ beat intro; just adds dat catchy sound to tha opinions I deliver! I like my voice a lil’ betta here although my flow’s a lil’ fast. Tha 1st verse contains a lot of shit goin’ on in tha world, includin’ a gun to me, where I say, “if there was clips, my death date could’ve been 1.23.2008.” That was a scary, unexpected day! Gotta luv my cousin Jen on tha hook; great voice and hella catchy!! Tha 2nd verse iz delivered in a speech, wit different objectives I feel should be taken care of. Also, in tha music video, I dedicated a lil’ R.I.P. to VL Mike. This was definitely a great song throughout tha “Nu$$ie Alive Times” (November 27, 2007 – February 9, 2009). This song peaked at #9 on my playlist back on November 9, 2008. My Current Rating: 4.7

03. “Always Unique, Totally Interesting, Sometimes Mysterious”
Speakin’ of Tha Wennipearl, I wrote this song on her birthday in 2010. It was one of tha 1st songs I wrote during tha last two weeks before tha CD came out. Tha title came from an acronym of what Autism iz. In tha song itself, I create a catchy-soundin’ beat, where for tha 1st time, I’m rappin’ along wit tha beat’s verses. All tha lyrics describe tha views I take as an Autistic/Asperger’s person. Wit tha song, I have a good intro; luv tha beat part at :12!! Just zaps you, lol! Luv that “whoo,” too!! I added a lil’ voice effect to my voice ta go wit tha song and its zappin’ sounds. “Connect two brains like a con-junc-tion. Sacrifice one fulla com-mun-i-ca-tion to obtain mo in-fo-ma-tion” means that I take a loss for communicating, especially in person, to have more of a brain to remember things. “Don’t need any kind of… teamwork! Been zappin’ people since my… day of birth” basically means that I don’t need people to help define myself as a person. I don’t have any success with havin’ people with me, so I do everything myself. “I may not focus on get-tin’ some a-ass” destroys tha stereotype of a typical guy carin’ ‘bout nothin’ but a girl and sex. It’s not my time, yet, so I don’t care about it! Tha remainin’ shit in tha 1st verse talks about how I can remember things easily, no matter if recorded or not. If someone’s fake, I’ll remember it; if I hear about a birthday, I’ll remember it, etc.! In tha hook, I use a bubblin’ sound effect that sounds good. Tha beat after tha hook’s pretty intense, if you think about it! Tha 2nd verse defines tha disadvantages of what we have as far as Autistic people. I like dat line, “create our own antis and live off our own prefixes.” My Current Rating: 4.4

04. “Child Dayz R Over”
A personal song about my evolution from bein’ taken advantage of to becomin’ successful as a business person. Written right after what I consider my “final altercation” (I don’t deal wit bullshit or bullshit people anymore) on December 8, 2010, it became tha fastest song I eva wrote, clockin’ at 55 minutes! Durin’ tha writin’ process, I was able to express myself by lettin’ all my feelings out immediately. As for tha song itself, I like how hyper tha beat sounds! I’m feelin’ my attitude a whole lot as well as tha crazy-ass rhymes I have here!! I thought this would be my least-rated song, but I’m really feelin’ this in a way! Tha hook’s basically sayin’, “I’ve had enough!” My rhymes are extremely fast and I’m luvin’ ‘em!! I have all tha lyrics written down; they were hard fa me ta understand, lol. I didn’t have any extra lyrics, so tha last minute of tha song iz just tha beat and tha hook repeated. My Current Rating: 4.5

05. “On A Mission For Gumbo”
This iz a song with a completely different topic. It was inspired by a Friday night, November 12, 2010, to tha casino. I drove my own car by myself, but caused controversy when I was lost for 1.5 hours. Tha beat for this song iz also used in my new show, that I do for tha hell of it, called Claustrophobic. Tha beat iz real nice and creepy wit tha organ sound that I luv when I hear Baton Rouge music! I rapped it as if I was hearin’ ‘90s, underground Rap music. I produced this at, I think, 45 BPM (it’s sayin’ 70 when I scan it), which was real hard to accomplish a slow-ass beat. Tha 1st verse was about me drivin’ to tha casino; tha 2nd verse iz my way home, as I got lost. Even though I was glad to get tha “gumbo,” it was too spicy for me to handle, so I didn’t take more than five bites outta it. My Current Rating: 4.6

06. “Sleepless Nights”
Officially confirmed as my 2nd single from this album, which was an official improvement wit my beats, since I started producin’ wit Logic Pro. It was tha last song I wrote before I produced, which ended that trend. It was written on March 19, 2010 when I found my brother writtin’ a racist Facebook status. Tha song iz basically about my troubled brother and his actions, especially wit how I handle ‘em. Tha hook iz an imitation of him, which almost sounds like Nu$$ie’s imitation-perspective when I go, “please gimme money; I’ll pay you right back!” After producin’ this beat in only a lil’ over an hour, I knew I was ready to get used to producin’. It became my best-soundin’ beat, at tha time! Currently, it iz my most-recent music video; my new single, “Invisible”, will have a music video hopefully in a month or so, when I get some free time. This was also tha last song I wrote in an out-of-order writin’ style. I used to write a set of bars (e.g., two, four, six, eight bars) and I would piece them together to tha song. Now, I’m stickin’ to writin’ everything in order. This song defined a step in a new direction; my previous single from this single, “Change Tha World”, was about tha world. Now, “Sleepless Nights” iz tackling tha issue about a family member. “Sleepless Nights” peaked at only #19 on my playlist back on July 25, 2010. Tha peak wasn’t so high due to tha amount of reviewz I had to catch up on. My Current Rating: 4.7

07. “Invisible”
My current, 3rd single. Inspired by many rejections of tha past and in 2010, I considered myself “invisible” in rooms, around people, and more annoying feelings. Tha writing style, attitude, and deliveries draw influences from Mystikal, Lil’ 627, and this dude Dirt, who graduated from my college. I consider it one of tha most personal songs I’ve eva written and I luv, luv, luv tha attitude!! Such a great opening wit dat voice: “Walk into tha room, people conversin’. They don’t say a thing; my anxiety ‘bout ta be burstin’!!” Tha beat has a real catchy sound that iz ‘pose to annoy people, but then again, I’m “invisible” so I treat it as it doesn’t matter. Tha 1st verse iz about how I can be anywhere and not treated as anything. Tha 1st ½ of tha 2nd verse describes all tha things I should be able to do due to my invisibility. In tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse, I quote my boy Crooked, from my interview, as well as quotin’ Alexia, showin’ her luv. Really, I think it’s time for people to notice me… and take me serious! I want their life to be fucked up if I was gone! This song iz currently on my playlist so it’s yet ta peak. My Current Rating: 4.8

½time: Can’t resist a CD like this. I stick to my album’s title, deliverin’ nothin’ but personal rhymes to tha bone! 4.6-rated CD, currently.

08. “Tha Smoke Mine”
On a different level of writin’ about personal issues, this song iz about invisioning an experience wit a creative mind. When producin’, I wanted to make it sound like dat good, undaground, Baton Rouge Rap mixed wit some real Hip-Hop sounds in tha beat, as I use an organ and some other great sounds. It iz also an anthem for tha smokers, as you’re in a hidden destination underground. Tha song was inspired by thinkin’ about tha coal mine up here in Northeast PA. I pictured if there was a path to drive underground, not knowin’ what ta expect. This song iz written in a different style, as there’s ad-libs that rhyme, too; it’s like a double rhyme. How ironic when I said, “fogged path.” A month and 10 dayz after I wrote this, I was actually in a scene wit weed and a really fogged path in tha dark; pretty crazy shit, huh? It’s like tha song came to life, lol! Only thing was that it wasn’t underground, lol! Tha lyrics are catchy for those dat like to relax and it’s some of my best-soundin’ production. My Current Rating: 4.7

09. “Consistency (Tha –ness & -less Song)”
An interestin’ title here. Originally, I wrote this song between September 16 & 17, 2008, but never produced for it. It was one of a few songs I wrote that got accepted onto my CD later in 2010. I attempted to make a Drum N Bass sound but came up wit a Technoish-soundin’ sound. Clockin’ at 140 BPM, I wanted to make somethin’ that ain’t heard too much anymore. Nobody really makes music at this speed, anymore, sadly (in tha mainstream) and also, I made sure I included tha long intro to go wit it (you don’t hear those anymore, too). Its style iz different—I wanted to catch tha listener’s attention. Wit there bein’ “–ness and –less” in tha title, I wanted to write somethin’ wit “-ness” words and “-less” words, since no one did dat, yet. Tha 1st verse has a bunch of positive, “-nesses,” lol. Tha 1st hook has a positive perspective of “-lesses,” to where I’m above havin’ anything bad happenin’ to me. Tha 2nd verse iz tha opposite; it has “-lesses” and then, tha 2nd hook has a bunch of positive “-nesses;” it’s all about bein’ positive, ya dig? Those sounds when I’m not rappin’ sounds real hot!! My Current Rating: 4.6

10. “Louisiana: A Sound, A Love, A Cure, A Future”
Basically, if you wanna learn about where my “Louisiana” connection started, this song tells it, and tha results of it. Tha beat sounds ear-catchin’ wit how I produced it, too. I talk about tha beginning of what I was dealin’ wit before tha “Louisiana” connection. Tha rappin’ iz pretty good and tha hook’s catchy, too. Tha way tha hook sounds sounds like an underground, white dude rappin’, in a way. Tha 2nd verse iz a dedication to those that have kept me motivated as much as I have been. I give a shout out to Big “Fancy” too, R.I.P.! I also like how I said tha “Southern” shit before all tha shout outs. My Current Rating: 4.2

11. “Lucky Legacy”
This has a shitload of quality in tha production! I feel that I should define my “legacy” while I’m predictin’ it. I believe I gon live a real long time (I don’t believe in death) but there has ta be “legacy” predictions along tha way, ya dig? It was tha 1st new song I recorded in December wit tha vocals and I definitely did my thang wid it!! This iz, just, crazy!!! Tha shit before tha hook sounds like a white underground dude again, lol. I like how I made tha 2nd verse start wit just a sound. Every single word/syllable goes wit tha beat, and I really luv it! My Current Rating: 4.7

12. “Outro”
This was so fuckin’ hard to rap this one! I kept not gettin’ tha on-beat shit correct. Tha beat’s pretty nice and my rappin’ reminds me of Max Minelli here. I have a perspective of expectin’ a near-soon future of gettin’ out in person when I wrote this. Once again, not just an “outro” but there’s rappin’, too! I like my “intro” betta but this iz still really great! I gave buku people shout outs in this that have mainly did business wit me as well as those I got luv for in person. There were other people I could’ve shouted out, but it’s aight. My Current Rating: 4.4

13. “Who I Am”
Tha last two are bonus tracks. This tha 1st ever song I wrote! I wrote it back between March 26, 2007 – (I think) April 25, 2007ish. It took a while to produce, since this was tha 1st official song I produced. I had to train myself and then, on August 19, 2007, tha song was completed! Tha beat intro iz one of tha hottest things I’ve eva made; it’ll always be remembered! I produced it off a Casio keyboard dat I bought but mainly, I did tha rest of tha sounds off Fruity Loops. Unfortunately, my computer had crashed a few times (August 22, 2007 & November 26, 2008), which made me not have tha beat sounds backed up. Tha beat sounds were in My Computer (in a folder), which I don’t usually look for when backin’ up files. In this song, I’m definin’ myself; a great way ta define a debut single. I also performed tha song November 13, 2007 at an Open Mic Night at my 1st college, which iz currently tha only performance I did. What I did wit this song was I had a style goin’ on: every four lines in tha 1st verse, I have a fast amount of shit bein’ spit; definitely classic wit how I spit it! Tha only thing was that my flow was pretty laidback; it was my beginning to rappin’ and, I think, I only did about 30 reviewz durin’ that time, lol. Tha song remains as a bad memory, since it was mainly a part of tha Fall 2007 semester at my 1st college, which was possibly tha worst semester of all time for me. “Who I Am” peaked at a nice #5 on my playlist back on September 30, 2007. LOL, I had a shitload of free time back then wit all tha high spins! I really only hit tha top of my playlist once: my rendition called “Put Your Hands Up For Long Island” back on February 11, 2007. My Current Rating: 4.3

14. “Heart Throbbin’ Every Heartbeat” (Grandma Down The Block)
Tha last song iz my rappin’ grandma, lol! Unintentionally, this became written for her 64th birthday. I wrote tha lyrics three years ago this month, and it became released in many ways quickly. April 13, 2008, tha song was complete; April 13, 2008, tha video was complete; April 14, 2008, tha single was released. Peaking at an impressive #3 on my playlist wit a whoppin’ 73 spins on my playlist of May 4, 2008, this really had somethin’ special to offer. Tha song was written and produced by me on April 12, 2008 (which lead to April 13). I had to speed her vocals up wit a trial program but it worked! Tha beginning of tha beat reminds me of a rabbit racing or somethin’, lol. Definitely was somethin’ funny, here, and I made sure I added some “heartbeats,” lol! “Who do you know that could drop a debut single at Age 64?” Good question! Just, how I produced dis sounds interestin’; good times!! That playlist this peaked on was prolly tha best playlist of all time!! Wit spins, times, and songs!! My favorite part: “’cause I’m a blessing!!” Funny shit!! ROFL @ tha “ya dig” shit and tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse wit all dat “I run my city; call me tha Pope” shit! She has so much to offer; prolly tha best thing I’ve created! I luv how she says, “FrankieThaLuckyDog,” as well as she even gave Nu$$ie a shout out in tha music video! My Current Rating: 4.8

Overall: And that’s tha review for my CD; wanna learn more? Hit me up!
