Review #304: Lil' Boosie "SuperBad: The Return Of Boosie Bad Azz"

Reviewed on 9.24.2009 (Review #304)

Wat up? It’s FrankieThaLuckyDog here… Not too gr8 of a day here, but I guess I should do a review… Gotta get tha Lil’ Boosie review outta tha way since tha CD came out 9 dayz ago. Here goes my review for Lil’ Boosie “SuperBad: The Return Of Boosie Bad Azz”! Lookin’ forward ta tha productions and shit on here! I read on Wikipedia that Guss & Big Wayne did some production; that’s watz good!! I’m usin’ Wikipedia also to see who tha producers are on each song, so I’ll know when Guss & Big Wayne come up! Start Time: 11:32 PM | End Time: 1:13 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “My Avenue” Feat. Lil’ Phat & Lil’ Trill
Looks like we gon have a gr8 album and a gr8 start here!! Lookin’ forward ta hearin’ dis one wit The Runners on tha beat!! >>> Nice style here; I like tha switchin’ beat styles in tha beginning; kick-“azz” style here, lol! Boosie soundin’ like he on top wit his 1st verse; he’s (in his opinion) undefeated!! Thumbs up on tha 1st verse, and here we go wit Phat on tha 2nd verse, “shittin’ on you niggaz!” Still soundin’ a lil’ weird wit tha voice, but you know I get through that wit some of his rhymes. Pretty good on tha shit he spit, but I wanna hear Lil’ Trill! Haven’t heard him in a while… Somewhat a gurl vs. Lil’ Josh wit tha voice, but he a young dude, so that’s why tha voice sounds young. Tha verse sounded like err-body else’s wit tha “paper chasin’” shit, so there’s no negativeness in it. Nice lil’ collab here, and nice start to this CD! My Rating: 4.4

02. “Top Notch” Feat. Mouse & Lil’ Phat
I see a lot of these songs online, so a leak/buzz rate iz quite high! I expect this one to be betta than tha last song; lookin’ forward to tha Mouse beat too!! >>> LOL @ tha start; sounds like Juvie, but it’s a 2009 Mouse, lol. Sounds like a decent hook, but tha end of it sounds catchy wit tha “hol’ up, lemme thank fo a second” part (just like tha “Rubbin’ On My Head” wit tha “mirror, tha mirror/rubbin’ on my head” shit). Nice job, Mouse, and tha beat soundin’ good too! Pretty good 1st verse from Boosie, keepin’ tha streetz alive! Here’s dat Phat boy on tha 2nd verse, lol. He sounds weirder on this song than tha last song. Just an okay verse from him; tha last song had a better verse from him. How will tha 3rd verse save this? LOL/LMAO!! It’s Mouse!! Thought it was gonna be Boosie or somethin’, but I’m glad ta hear Mouse wit his GR8 rappin’ style! Definitely enjoyed his verse on this right here! Pretty good song; could’ve had a better 1st & 2nd verses, but as long as tha beat keeps it consistent, then there’s not tha biggest thumbs down for tha verses! My Rating: 4.2

03. “Better Believe It” Feat. Young Jeezy & Webbie
It’s 20 secondsish shorter than tha version I have… (I think I have a version that’s labeled Young Jeezy Feat. Lil’ Boosie; what’s up wit dat (and no Webbie source)? Was it Jeezy’s song first?). This iz a gr8 resurrection to tha Louisiana Rap scene in tha mainstream, but for some reason, I feel that this CD might not have any otha mainstream singles like this. I think this one slid ‘cause of Young Jeezy bein’ on it. It’s real hard for Louisiana ta break into tha mainstream scene right now, and I wish err-body could just get together and have mainstream parts from everywhere like back in tha Early 2000’s at least! As for tha song, that hook just sounds GREAT; luv that voice!! This song even broke into my playlist, and it’s rare now that mainstream songs get into my playlist! I know tha video has all bills in it, but accordin’ to tha Billboard charts, Whitney Houston REALLY shined her “million dollar bill” on Boosie, as she sold more, lol! Anyway, that was random, but good job from Boosie and his rappin’ style on tha 1st verse! Even down ta dis beat: It’s from Mouse, but iz more on tha borderline/CTE style in my opinion. Speakin’ of CTE, Jeezy’s verse sounds kinda long, but it’s pretty good. I see where tha shortened part iz: at 3:08. There’s no hook, and it goes right inta Webbie’s verse. Webbie’s verse iz aight, but I’m glad he put “Baton Rouge” in his verse! Gr8 mainstream song, and I’m curious ta see what Louisiana songs come out afta this one (Louisiana songs, not no Birdman/Lil’ Wayne NON-Louisiana shit where there’s a lack of Louisiana in their topics)! My Current Rating: 4.2

04. “Lawd Have Mercy”
Tha Guss song, but my anticipation iz 50/50… I like how they spelled “Lawd” in this one, but wit just Boosie, I hope this ain’t on sum versitile shit… >>> Soundin’ like it gon be a pretty good start. WTF? Err-body luvs those fuckin’ tags they use in their beats, but just ‘cause it’s a mainstream album, there’s no “Guss make my beats. I’m straight wit tracks, cousin” shit in tha beat intro? Just ‘cause it’s mainstream…? Anyway, soundin’ like pretty good rhymes from Boosie here on tha 1st verse, and tha beat iz pretty catchy. Who got tha background vocals on tha hook (tha title)? Soundin’ like a nice mix here. Soundin’ like real life rhymes in tha 2nd verse here. Tha 3rd verse soundin’ a lili’ betta this time; luv tha “scratchin’ like tha lotto” part! You KNOW that’s me right there!! Not too bad song right here. My Rating: 3.9

05. “I’m A Dog” Feat. Lil’ Phat
Anotha online song… DJ B-Real did dis beat, so this should be good! Tha title looks like one of those songs that would be REAL GOOD for me!! I wonder how Boosie & Phat will do on dis?! >>> Sounds like tha Kidd Kidd song a lil’ in tha beginning wit all those “I’m a dog, I’m a dog, I’m a dog”’s. Pretty good start, and tha beat iz DEFINITELY on point here wit all those effects within tha beat! Good job from Boosie on tha 1st verse, especially tha “next, next, next, next…” shit at tha end of tha verse. Tha hook could have better soundin’ to it; why no beat change? A lil’ too repetitive, ESPECIALLY if a title like this should have more of a REAL gutta feel in tha beat within tha hook!! Here comes Phat on tha 2nd verse, soundin’ betta, ESPECIALLY wit tha “dumb, retawded, stupid” shit in tha verse. Even addin’ sum trap lyrics here wit tha “brick and a ½” part! Now, we got a 3rd verse from Boosie here. Soundin’ good fa this… You said somethin’ about “a Dr. Dre beat;” you really were on one? That’s cool if dat true! Not much ta say about tha verse, but it held it down. My Rating: 4.3

06. “No Mercy”
What’s up wit tha double title? I thought I just saw a song wit this… >>> Soundin’ like a pretty good start wit that DJ B-Real beat. What’s wit tha Grand Hustle vibe in tha beat? Soundin’ like a familiar verse… Wait, I heard this somewhere! I rememba tha “see 25” part… *Checks* Yea, this was from tha C-Loc “Scrape The Plate” CD. WTF? No sourced feature? I wrote in my review that C-Loc was on tha 3rd verse; he BETTA be! But, what originally went down was this: Sounds like it a GREAT hook wit Boosie on tha hook! I like that “if ya make it ta see 25, nigga, you a O.G.” part ‘cause I gon EASILY make 25! Tha 1st verse iz from Boosie, and it’s soundin’ betta than eva on this CD from him!! Feelin’ tha beat style at 1:11 (how it did it in “Wipe Me Down”)!! All tha lyrics in tha 1st verse were REAL!! Boosie on tha 2nd verse here too, lol! Still deliverin’ such GREATNESS wit those lyrics on this shit!! I hate ta hear about all tha killin’ goin’ on. I REALLY hope Nu$$ie’s death in Baton Rouge REALLY opened up err-one’s eyez ta NOT KILL anyone!!! Really, if you beefin’ wit someone, just don’t go TOO far ta where you wanna kill them!! <- To add: Yup, there was no error… Boosie, you had a 3rd verse, and although it sounded pretty good, it didn’t meet up wit my 4.8 original rating for tha C-Loc review! My Rating: 4.6

07. “Levi’s” Feat. Lil’ Phat & Webbie
LOL, what can I say? Do I have ta say, “Lil’ Phat again…?,” or “DJ B-Real on tha beat again…?” Basically, there’s no point in stoppin’ tha consistency! >>> This beat sounds betta outta tha 3; nice and slow wit a nice BR feel! LOL @ Phat wit sayin’ tha title; sounds like it mixin’ in NICE! People’ll prolly think tha beginning verse iz boring, but it fits tha vibe/speed here, so I’ll give daps ta Lil’ Phat. Ooh, he even in tha hook too, spittin’ dem “cocaine” rhymes too!! Catchy shit, and now, Boosie here on tha 2nd verse… I hope for this CD ta go gold; it’s BR in tha mainstream! It deserves that attention ‘cause this way, more BR artists can appear on Music Choice, MTV Jams, etc.! Pretty good job from you, Boosie, on tha 2nd verse. Phat iz winnin’ so far on this, so let’s see if tha Web can handle it, lol! Yea, “this shit here gon jam;” plus on that, as well as tha “buku shoes” part too fa usin’ BR slang! Too fresh here on tha 3rd verse, so when you see Webbie, you’ll see all tha matchin’ colors and all dat good swag shit, ya dig! My Rating: 4.4

08. “Bullshit”
PERFECT TIMING RIGHT HERE!!! It’s just ironic that Stefanie “You Never Said You Loved Me” had ta come on Music Choice Dance ‘cause in tha Dance world, there’s SO MANY gr8 songs that don’t get noticed, and I’m glad MCD noticed that song last year! Reminded me of when err-body used ta notice tha undaground talent in Louisiana!! Just like wit dis CD: Dis CD doin’ REAL GOOD on tha ratings for a mainstream CD!! “You never” see me review mainstream shit these dayz, so if people ignore this, then they “bullshittin’,” just like this song title!! And we got Big Wayne on here wit a WHOPPIN’ 5:44 on tha length!! This’ll prolly be tha jackpot song fa me, so I ain’t got no time ta waste!! Plus, only Boosie, so let’s see how he can hold down nearly 6 minutes of a song!! >>> Sounds like a letdown in tha beginning wit tha beat; where’s tha speed? Very slow start, but it good for me. It just not a Big Wayne beat for me. There BETTA be anotha Big Wayne production on this CD (but, in my thoughts, I’ll prolly see Mouse, Mouse, Mouse, DJ B-Real, Mouse, Mouse, Mouse, and DJ B-Real for tha remainin’ beats.). Nice job on tha 1st verse, and tha hook iz startin’ ta catch now. Tha beat actually has a lil’ bit of a betta catch in it for a slow jam than typical slow songs. Tha 2nd verse was pretty good too; glad ta hear you long on a track! There’s still anotha 2.25 (lol) minutes left, so let’s see what we got for tha 3rd verse… Pretty good job also. Glad ta hear you spittin’ all that anti-“bullshit” in your rhymes ‘cause you be spittin’ dat street “shit,” ya dig! No “DJ Big Wayne” tag in tha beat? After I heard it every 4 bars in J.T. The Creeper & Damage’s “Never Too Many”??? Oh wait, I forgot! This a mainstream album! There’s no tags! Betta be anotha produced song from him so tha mainstream CAN HEAR HIS AMAZIN’ BEAT PATTERN!!! My Rating: 4.1

½time: Off to a real nice start I would say! Bringin’ tha shit that bumps in BR to tha mainstream, and I’m givin’ it a plus! Hope this CD surpasses tha 100,000 mark wit CD $ale$! I hope tha 2nd ½ don’t disappoint, and keeps it REAL consistent like this 1st ½!! Tha average CD rating currently stands at 4.3!!

09. “Who Can Love U” Feat. Bobby Valentino
No anticipation/no preview. >>> Forget what I said about tha “no future singles;” this’ll prolly be tha next one. Soundin’ completely out of my style in tha beginning, so this an automatic ignore for me. Nard & B did this beat, so I guess they mainstream or somethin’? I thought I saw them before, but now, they’re here. Samplin’ a lil’ bit of that “Nobody” R&B song from back in tha day. Decent 1st verse, and a decent 2nd verse. It’s 2009, so I can’t really go for these poptart songs, you know. There’s 0% Louisiana in this too. Might just throw this on my Long Island gurl Alicia’s CD since this SHOULD be a future single. Oh, and for those reading, my rating iz a lil’ high; should’ve been a N/A… My Rating: 2.9

10. “Miss Kissin’ On You” Feat. Trina & KaDe
No wonder why Miley Cyrus iz on Music Choice Dance right now! >>> Much worse start than tha last song; “Lawd,” lol! What?!? There’s even a chipmunk in tha background throughout tha whole song?!? Tha B-Real portions of tha song sound aight, but that’s just my positive thinkin’, which ain’t tha focus of this song unfortunately! Too many memories Boosie missin’ on tha 1st verse? I think Lil’ Phat would’ve been PERFECT on this song, lol!! Trina be soundin’ good on her verse here, so I give her a props! Glad you brought her onto your CD, but since she’s “Da Baddest Bitch,” shouldn’t there be a major fuckin’ song instead of a Disney song like this?? Good job from Trina, but who iz this last person (KaDe)?? Maybe it’s that gurl in tha hook? I don’t know, but it ain’t my focus ‘cause I don’t hear anotha rapper. Instead, it’s you on tha 3rd verse, Boosie, addin’ sum betta lyrics than tha 1st verse. Sounds like jacked “Nu$$ie!!! Nu$$ie!!!” sounds at tha end wit tha “listen! Listen! Listen!;” anybody catch that? Anywayz, don’t know why I wrote so much and actually sat here for 5:18; automatic fail for me! Didn’t even hear a new rapper when I expected one!! My Rating: 1.2

11. “Pain”
Damn, 3 in a row??? >>> Tha last song was slow, now this song (produced by BJ) iz slower?? Pretty disappointin’ beat here, but at least tha lyrics won’t be on tha poptart tip! Good job on tha lyrics in tha 1st verse, but tha hook just ehh… I easily rather hear an A-Mar song about this. At least he has WAY better beats and catchier content!! I don’t go for boring songs like this, but why tha fuck do I have ta write a fuckin’ paragraph on it??? Sounds like a betta 2nd verse wit tha lyrics, but huh, tha hook sounds like Country music in tha background? What’s wit all tha weird shit?? Ain’t I listenin’ to a Rap CD, not an Adult Contemporary CD? Failed Song #3 for me IN A ROW no less! And yea, for tha haterz, here’s a lyrical rating; at least I paid attention! Lyrical Rating: 4.3 | My Rating: 2.1

12. “Loose As A Goose” Feat. Foxx & Mouse
This anotha bleh… This like tha 4th time reviewin’ this, and I hope it’s tha last! I shouldn’t review a song more than 2 times; how many times do I have ta repeat what I’m sayin’? Either way, for those newbies, this a gr8 uptempo comeback to tha CD, lol. Gotta luv how you say tha title, includin’ that you put “jiggaz” and shit in tha hook ta give it a more noticeable feel!! I didn’t get ta play this song, but it easily became an ignore after tha “Pyrex Radio Vol. 6” commercial scam that occurred 10 dayz after I made my 2 commercials for that mixtape! LOL @ your “mouth kinda crooked;” nice job on tha 1st verse, doin’ ya thang “as a goose,” lol! This should’ve blown up on mixshows and shit like dat; why hasn’t it?? Foxx had tha BEST verse in tha song ‘cause of his energy and tha way he rapped for tha streetz on this one! LOL @ Mouse’s part, ESPECIALLY tha “but watch my sneakaz” part (instead of “shoes”)! I like how he talked about loratabs too; recently learned about that word a month ago. LMAO @ tha “chicken wit his head cut off” part too! Still sounds like a gr8 mixtape track, and now needs ta be a GR8 mixshow song!! Nice job on tha beat, DJ B-Real! My Current Rating: 4.6

13. “Clips & Choppers” Feat. Lil’ Phat
THIS iz a MUCH betta title!! I hope y’all come through wit dat REAL gangsta shit!! >>> Oh yea, once again, anotha B-Real beat! I thought there were all Mouse beats, but there’s all B-Real beats. Tha beat iz a lil’ weird, and DEFINITELY ain’t on tha gangsta tip. Nice job on tha rhythm to tha beat, but this has a REAL low gangsta level… Well, maybe in tha verses, I’d say, “yea.” Nice job wit tha lyrics on this one, Boosie. But fa’real, you were “loose as a goose” on tha last song; you couldn’t go off on this one? Tha laid-backness was unexpected, but let’s see what Phat gon say (prolly more laid-back)… Very laid-back, but still had tha gutta lyrics, so that’s a plus. I’m kinda zonin’ out on tha 3rd verse ‘cause I really don’t wanna hear about your “choppers” story ‘cause I get disgusted wit err-body’s obsession wit shootin’ people… This song definitely had 0% hyperness in it. My Rating: 3.6

14. “Bank Roll”
Anotha BJ beat… Hope he don’t fuck it up! >>> Iz BJ even a Baton Rouge person? He might even be on my friends on MySpace, but I don’t rememba… Tha intro sounds betta, and it sounds like you more into tha song this time than tha last song. Pretty good 1st verse, and finally, some catchiness in tha hook! Soundin’ pretty catchy, so I predict it bein’ just a 4.0 rating; we’ll see what happens! Ooh, some “you out there poppin’ dem pillz” shit in tha 2nd verse, huh? Givin’ you a MAJOR props on dat, ESPECIALLY “bustin’ yo ass on tha grind!” For tha start to tha 3rd verse, I see you mentioned “on yo way ta New York City.” Big Wayne told me about that 2 weeks ago. Hope it turned out good, but I was hopin’ we could’ve met ‘cause I’m only 2 hours away, which iz MUCH betta than bein’ 20 hours away! Otha than that, I guess tha 3rd verse flowed nice wit tha song. My Rating: 4.0

15. “Crayola”
What’s up wit tha title? Anotha BJ beat, so maybe, we’ll see a peak wit him! I hope tha song iz about all color clothings (e.g., polos, Coogi, etc.)!! >>> Tha intro kinda weird at first, but it picks up wit tha hook. Tha “color” thing was correct, but it ain’t about clothes; it’s about cars. How do you get all these cars? I’m still tryna get my 1st… Pretty good 1st verse right there wit your cars and shit. Sounds pretty nice on tha 2nd verse. Glad your “self-esteem high” and shit; that applied pretty good for tha song and tha 1st ½ of this CD! Tha 3rd verse iz soundin’ pretty good too; all tha verses blend in. Glad you got a “cherry red whip” as well as “smokin’ purple” and shit too. I have ta tie tha rating wit tha last song ‘cause this one would win in a tie breaker. My Rating: 4.0

16. “Mind Of A Maniac”
Tha last song to tha CD wit Shonta on tha track (can neva spell his name; thanx for Wikipedia for tha spelling)! Hope there’s sum HYPERNESS in this one!! >>> WTF wit tha pace in tha beginning? Why do I keep havin’ these fear attacks everytime I play some of these songs?? No “Shonta on tha track” shit too?? Oh yea…, this a mainstream album! Tha beat definitely ain’t up n’ up, but tha lyrics sound like they pretty good. Nice job on tha 1st verse, but tha hook DEFINITELY picked up here!! I like it now, so this iz a plus! Still, I wish it was different producers on these beats ‘cause I expect so HIGH for these real great producers instead of all these slow-ass songs! Nice job on tha 2nd verse; keep it goin’! I really like tha “I ain’t got no mind” shit in tha hook, as well as when it goes to tha title! Just really likin’ tha hook to tha fullest on this one!! No Savage beats on this CD? Good job on tha 3rd verse too. This turned out ta be a NICE ending song fa me! I’m DEFINITELY givin’ it a plus since it impressed me outta all tha weird soundin’ beat songs! My Rating: 4.3

Overall: Well, as much as I didn’t know what ta expect for tha 2nd ½, I felt that tha 2nd ½ definitely let me down. Too much weird shit came outta it… This CD went from 4.3 average rating all tha way down ta 3.8. Either way, that doesn’t stop me from wantin’ it ta be bigger in tha mainstream. I really hope mainstream outlets play multiple songs from this CD (and not just tha poptart ones)!

^ Blehhhhhh @ my Top 2!! I originally put “Loose As A Goose” at #1, and I was like, “WTF? This my #1? Can’t be!” Sad ta see no songs rated higher than 4.6, but then again, this iz just Boosie.
