Review #375: B.G. "Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood"

Reviewed on 12.29.2009 (Review #375)

Once again, FrankieThaLuckyDog iz still here in review mode, lol! Up next, anotha Christmas present: B.G. Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood; here goes my review! Start Time: 10:40 PM | End Time: 11:55 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Fuck The Game Up”
Looks like a STRONG title ta start thingz off!! Let’s see how you do on this one! >>> Sounds like this’ll be a good intro track; nice crowd start! You sound good on tha 1st verse here, deliverin’ dat street shit to tha fullest still! You ALWAYS luv this Rap shit to tha fullest; glad you still around!! Only two dayz ago, it marked seven years since I first heard you wit dat “Hottest Of The Hot (Clinton Sparks Remix);” you DEFINITELY kept my attention runnin’ and you still do!! My Rating: 4.0

02. “I Swear” Feat. Gar
What’s “swar?” Should be some good hood shit though wit Gar on it!! >>> Pretty good start here; slowly creepin’ up ta this mixtape as it’s slowly startin’! Tha beat iz pretty cool here and you ALWAYS got tha same voice which iz REAL GR8!! I hear tha hook and it sounds good; there’s an “e” missin’ in tha title. I figured “swear” was spelled wrong from tha start… You doin’ a pretty good job on tha 2nd verse too; good shit! It’s all about tha hood here to tha fullest!! Looks like you’re touchin’ on some gutta topics here in tha 3rd verse, basically about tha hood and who’s no longer here. It sounded good ta hear it wit your gangsta style here. Was Gar in tha hook? Shit, I didn’t even realize dat was him… Why a 1:10+ outro? You sound catchy though towards tha end; gotta luv when you talk! My Rating: 4.2

03. “Nigga Owe Me Some Money” Feat. Soulja Slim, Lil’ Boosie & C-Murder
This iz a MEGA line-up right chea, ya heard me!! REALLY lookin’ forward ta seein’ how GR8 this joint sounds!!! >>> Sounds like a good Soulja Slim sample here ta fill tha hook on this good beat! LOL, tha hook still goin’ now dat I’m :41 in, lol. Now, at :52, you’re finally here on tha 1st verse, Gizzle! Nice job deliverin’ some catchy hood shit here. Tha artists on tha ID are kinda mixed up ‘cause C-Murder’s on tha 2nd verse here! He sounds pretty good, ALWAYS reppin’ STRONG on any track/feature!! Glad he came through and now, let’s see what Boosie’s got ta offer on tha 3rd verse! He sounds GR8 wit tha flow once again and tha style he comin’ wit iz GR8 on tha mic! DEFINITELY some good shit right chea!! My Rating: 4.4

04. “Fuckin’ U Right”
LOL @ this random title!! >>> Tha beat iz pretty cool and tha hook sounded good. Tha 1st verse soundin’ good; glad he mentioned dat he still tha “hottest of tha hot!” Still comin’ through for tha hood and tha ladies on tha 2nd verse here; glad she “feelin’ like a swimmin’ pool!” Kinda short for a song but it sounded pretty good fa what it was. My Rating: 3.8

05. “My Hood” Feat. Gar & Mannie Fresh
I think this iz a cool single. MTV Jams had this on and I didn’t know you made a comeback for a second. Tha beat iz cool here and I’m glad you brought along Gar & Fresh on tha track. Tha hook iz for like every “hood” to tha fullest, especially wit its catchy style on how it sounds. You sound good on tha 1st verse too wit your “hood” shit as always, ya dig! You’re on tha 2nd verse also and you ALWAYS motivated ta do anything when it comes ta this Rap shit, ya dig! I really like how you put out a CD every single year! That’s a DEFINITE plus; who does dat? Although you got two features, you’re on tha 3rd verse also, lol. Yea, they’re contributin’ on tha hook while you do all tha verses for tha “hood” to tha fullest! Nice job on tha 3rd verse and glad this iz gettin’ exposure! I wonder how many people in tha mainstream got this CD? My Current Rating: 4.1

06. “Hit The Block & Roll”
I like this title right chea! This should be some HOT shit!! >>> Ooh, a Rock start here for you! NICE job on tha beat here and tha hook DEFINITELY goes hard here wit tha “hood vs. Rock” type shit!! Tha 1st verse sounds cool fa what you’re doin’ here; DEFINITELY inta tha mixture of tha styles!! You ALWAYS stayin’ on your grind durin’ tha 2nd verse; how often are you in tha studio and how often do you take breaks, lol? You even got a 3rd verse here and it flows good wit tha song itself! My Rating: 4.3

07. “Like Yeah”
Anything could possibly come outta this song now that it’s in your hands, lol. >>> So it’s for “gettin’ high?” This should DEFINITELY be REAL TIGHT then!! Tha beginning sounds REAL GR8 here as it went RIGHT inta tha hook! DEFINITELY on tha gangsta tip here wit your catchy-ass shit here!!! I DEFINITELY like tha “pillman/more pillz ta pop” part also!! Interestin’ “pill-type” shit goin’ on here in tha 1st verse also, doin’ tha damn thang for tha streetz all day, everyday!! I like how you start tha 2nd verse off wit tha “cool swag” style in your voice, ya dig. Nice job deliverin’ tha 2nd verse and I’m GLAD (bein’ “like yeah” also, lol) dat you got a 3rd verse too! Interestin’ history on your drugs throughout tha 3rd verse; you ALWAYS interestin’ when you step up to tha mic, ya dig! Nice, grimy outro, lol! My Rating: 4.5

08. “Fuck Thang” Feat. Montravious Cooks
That’s an interestin’ featured artist name… What could I expect on here? >>> Sounds like a cool intro although it sounds like it’s not exactly my style… LOL @ tha hook. I didn’t expect tha featured artist ta be a singer but he sounded pretty good fa his part. Not bad 1st verse from you here; it was decent. Sounds like you turned on mysteriously throughout tha 2nd verse… It sounded like a pretty good verse fa what it was. Tha 3rd verse was not bad also; decent song here. My Rating: 3.6

½time: This CD iz off to a pretty good start. I like tha Juvenile CD betta already but you got yourself a pretty good CD here once again, B.G.! Tha average CD rating iz at 4.1 currently so you’re doin’ ya thang!

09. “Back To The Money” Feat. Magnolia Chop
Looks like anotha interestin’ collaboration; should be a good one! >>> Tha intro iz pretty cool here. Sounds like some interestin’ echoin’ from Magnolia Chop in tha beginning! Tha beat iz DEFINITELY gutta fa this track and you sound good on tha 1st verse! Nice job deliverin’ good shit fa tha streetz! I hear tha hook and it’s definitely catchy here for tha hood! I thought I heard it before but I’ll consider it brand new. Sounds like you’re easily able ta surpass bullshit throughout tha 2nd verse; glad you “too” motivated, lol. Nice job deliverin’ tha 3rd verse about your past hood shit, ya dig! DEFINITELY sounded good ta hear about tha past of yours! My Rating: 4.3

10. “Ya Heard Me” Feat. Lil’ Wayne, Juvenile & Trey Songz
I think this might’ve been a Music Choice Rap song… Lemme hear it once again. >>> Dat TIGHT “wuzzam, wuzzam, wuzzam” shit in tha beginning! Yea, I know this. There were a bunch of potential singles here and I sometimes confuse this wit “Keep It 100;” this was tha otha single-song if I’m not mistaken. Anyway, you’re on tha 1st verse here and you’re still keepin’ it hood here wit this pretty good beat. It sounds raw wit tha “wearin’ a rest in peace shirt” part! I have no say on tha hook EXCEPT for when it says “ya heard me!” Nice job, Trey Songz, lol. Here’s tha competition boy Juvenile (lol, not really but it feels like it) on tha 2nd verse! He sounded pretty good fa what he delivered, ya dig. I don’t need ta even say a sentence about Wayne on tha 3rd verse; it’s good… whateva. My Current Rating: 3.9

11. “Chopper City Is An Army”
Izn’t this an ol’ ass song you made? >>> Sounds like a new version… Might’ve liked tha 1st version betta but this iz pretty catchy still. Nice job from Mannie Fresh again on tha beat. Sounds like you luv what you do on an everyday basis in tha 1st verse; good shit. You still keepin’ it in a good style of yours in tha 2nd verse here too! Pretty good soundin’ too throughout tha 3rd verse too… My Rating: 4.0

12. “My Wrist Game Is Sick!”
LOL @ tha exclamation point! That tells me this gon be “sick!,” ya dig! >>> You said, “What’s up, Savage?” Who were you referrin’ to? It almost reminds me of a Savage (Supa Sav) beat here wit tha gr8 sounds in tha beat and tha beat itself! Tha hook sounds pretty cool; we already know how “sick” you are wit anything, lol. Tha 1st verse sounds pretty good; glad you spittin’ rhymes all tha time. Tha start to tha 2nd verse sounds good wit tha “first ounce of soft” so you KNOW you keepin’ it street here!! Pretty good song on this CD right chea! My Rating: 4.2

13. “Gutta Gutta” Feat. Gar
I like how this one looks!! Should do tha damn thang here!! >>> Sounds like a different style of Rap music here in tha beat; I thought tha beat would be “gutta,” lol. Pretty interestin’ for a start and you sound okay for a start in tha 1st verse here. Tha hook sounded pretty good fa what it was; glad you ALWAYS “keep it gutta gutta!” Now, I can tell it’s Gar on tha 2nd verse here; pretty good soundin’. He mixes pretty good wit you; I like tha “’Bout Dis Grindin’” song y’all have together. Tha 3rd verse iz you this time and it sounds like you always like doin’ what you doin’; always havin’ fun. That’s a good thing… My Rating: 3.8

14. “Keep It 100” Feat. Magnolia Chop
So Magnolia Chop was really on tha hook here? It makes more sense knowin’ it now ‘cause I can tell his voice (now dat I know who he iz). I heard this way back in Summer 2008 (not sayin’ tha source ‘cause I’m no longer cool wit them) and it was cool dat it was an exclusive. However, I do consider it a “Summer 2008” song that lives in Summer 2008… DEFINITELY a tight hook when it comes ta capturin’ people though!! You sound pretty good on tha 1st verse too wit this gr8 beat here! SMH @ Music Choice Rap gettin’ it way later than when I heard it; they listed it as an ’09 song. More “100” status here on tha 2nd verse; you did ya thang on tha verse! I feel like tha hook iz addictive ‘cause you hear tha title so much, lol! You doin’ ya thang on tha bridge here too! My Current Rating: 4.3

15. “Under Surveillance”
Looks like an interestin’ title; I KNOW you gon hold it down!! >>> LOL @ your “wahhhh” start; luv it! Tha beat sounds pretty good here! It sounds catchy here and tha hook iz cool; I like tha title and when it’s said. Tha 1st verse iz here and it’s all about your “life” here and what goes on in it. Pretty good job deliverin’ it, ya dig! Let’s see what you got ta offer fa tha 2nd verse… Still comin’ through wit dat good shit. Glad you holdin’ down ya hood to tha fullest at all times! Nice job havin’ a 3rd verse on this shit too, ya dig. I wonder what’s left of this CD… My Rating: 4.1

16. “4 A Minute” Feat. T.I.
I know this joint (from Music Choice Rap). I’m not that familiar wit it so lemme rehear it… >>> Oh yea, it’s this old-ass song!! I rememba it I think longer than “Keep It 100” (or right around tha same time)! It seems older but it always had a good sound ta it! You sound good on tha 1st verse and you doin’ ya thang on this track here! Tha hook iz DEFINITELY watz up!! I really luved tha fast style in tha beat (especially tha hook) wit tha GR8 style!! Tha 2nd verse sounds good too; you DEFINITELY holdin’ this one down to tha fullest, lol! T.I.’s part was short but it had a gr8 flow; nice collaboration here! My Current Rating: 4.4

17. “I Hustle” Feat. Young Jeezy
And speakin’ of older songs, this tops ‘em all! Not sure of rating but it tops age! This from like August 2007, tha horrible age of what I was goin’ through back then! When I got this in October 2007, it wasn’t that horrible of times though; I think I was ‘bout ta escape tha horribleness and go inta Louisiana world!! REAL GLAD it was Jimmy The DJ that did it all wit his catchy-ass Gangsta Gumbo Vol. 1 CD cover!!! Anyway, still sounds pretty good and this iz a cool collaboration! I rememba really likin’ it in tha beginning when I first heard it. You have a catchy hook here wit a gr8 beat! Tha 1st verse sounds good too; always enjoy rhymes from you! I had a clean version and now, I got a dirty version, lol. Jeezy did a nice job on his part on tha 2nd verse wit his catchy-ass flow and contribution! You also serve a purpose ta be on tha 3rd verse too, ya heard me! My Current Rating: 4.4

Overall: I believe tha average CD rating iz tied wit Juvie, but statistically, this iz a lil’ smaller on tha extended statistics… But anyway, gr8 CD and I’m glad you keepin’ tha music out there! Keep up tha gr8 work, my boy!!
