Review #376: Birdman "Pricele$$"

Reviewed on 12.30.2009 (Review #376)

Still here on tha night of December 29, lol! I finna do my 6th review for today! Yea, it’s Birdman Pricele$$. I’m tryna review every Louisiana CD so this one had ta get reviewed… especially before tha year ends. Anyway, here goes my review for Birdman Pricele$$. Start Time: 12:21 AM | End Time: 9:54 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Intro”
T-Minus on tha beat here… Let’s see what’s cooked up fa tha Birdman, lol! >>> Tha beat iz pretty cool and you sound okay fa a start on this intro… You’re ALWAYS laced wit kick-ass beats. It was an okay intro fa what it was. I wonder what this CD’ll be like… My Rating: 3.8

02. “Been About Money”
I.N.F.O. did this beat; let’s see how it sounds… >>> Welcome anotha future producer here! This sounds too typical though wit tha topic and how it sounds on tha hook… Tha 1st verse was okay… I don’t know what I’m gonna say wit a song like this that has such a typical topic that I hear so much in tha mainstream these dayz… If it wasn’t for this HOT beat, this wouldn’t’ve lasted. An okay 2nd verse once again also… Even tha 3rd verse can be thrown inta tha typical verses throughout this song. My Rating: 3.6

03. “Money To Blow” Feat. Drake & Lil’ Wayne
A Drumma Boy beat here… I know this iz a mainstream song and has been out for a while now. However, after April 2009, I stopped followin’ tha whole “mainstream sources” on gettin’ every single song that airs on a station so I neva got ta completely hear this. Lemme see tha song in its entirety… >>> I slightly have heard this and wit Drake in tha beginning, it’s catchy. Tha hook iz anotha catchy part too. You’re on tha 2nd verse and I can’t really leave feedback; there’s no catchy lyrics as they’re usually tha same everytime I hear you… Wayne part was also ehh on tha 3rd verse too. My Current Rating: 3.7

04. “Money Machine”
Huh? How did X-Fyle do a beat here? I thought by reviewin’ an artist like you that I’d be far away from my Louisiana peeps in Baton Rouge… But as cool as it seems, how will you handle tha typical topic? >>> Not only iz it typical wit tha topic but tha “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy” Weezy sample iz in tha hook. I like it but how many times have I heard it since 2006 when it first came out? Birdman, what if tha world was “moneyless?” What would you do? How much water would you have in your system? LOL… For a mainstream CD, at least this iz a good X-Fyle beat. I like how tha beat sounds in tha 2nd verse… I still have no feedback on any of tha shit you’re spittin’. Damn, talk about a long-ass 2nd verse? My Rating: 3.4

05. “Pricele$$” Feat. Lil’ Wayne
Timbaland did this beat and it’s 5:33? It BETTA be worth my time!! Anotha money title, lol! Tha album title should’ve just been called Money; plain & simple! >>> Sounds gay in tha beginning wit Wayne. Still comin’ through okay on tha 1st verse; you’re lucky I’m more awake than usual right now! I would prolly be fallin’ asleep right outta my chair! Tha hook iz pretty gay fa me; can’t stand tha vocal style!! Boring 2nd verse… For a Timbaland beat, where tha hell iz tha catchy sounds??? *Yawn* A horrible soundin’ Weezy interlude before tha 3rd verse. Finally, I can quote one of your lines, lol! I like tha “cookin’ like it’s gumbo” part! I’m slowly gettin’ tired listenin’ ta this… Do I have ta wait anotha 70 seconds? My Rating: 2.2

06. “Bring It Back” Feat. Lil’ Wayne
LOL, you did tha beat? This was an old Weezy title from ’04… >>> Not 100% inta tha beat here… Tha sounds may be cool but it doesn’t sound tha best. WTF’s up wit tha style in Wayne’s voice on tha hook? Sounds like a computer… LOL, you’re comin’ through gangsta wit tha “tool in your hand;” lol? Okay verse although quite boring still. Wayne’s vocals are so hypnotic on tha hook, rofl! I think we’re still on tha “money” topic too, lol. No comment on tha 2nd verse too… Anotha odd 3rd verse. Just ‘cause of dat weird hook, this should be above all tha otha songs. My Rating: 3.9

07. “Nightclub”
LOL, anotha X-Fyle beat? How did y’all become so cool wit each otha? >>> I still have tha last hook in my head, lol! You and your money durin’ tha 1st verse. Since you LUV it so much, how much did you pay X-Fyle for tha beats here? Huh, tha hook already? Why no transition? Neva mind, I seem confused. Does tha hook start wit tha gay-ass Auto-Tune? Sounded nasty on tha vocals. Tha 2nd verse was more fulla dat ehh/ugh shit… It’s like I’m bein’ put ta sleep or somethin’. You STILL spittin’ typical lyrics in tha 3rd verse; Y-A to tha W-N!! My Rating: 2.1

08. “4 My Town (Play Ball)” Feat. Drake & Lil’ Wayne
Tha producer here iz Boi-1da. I heard of him before on some various CDs I prolly reviewed… Let’s see what we got here wit this “play ball” shit… >>> LOL @ tha first two seconds wit tha “ball.” You were in tha beginning wit your boring typicalness. Then, I heard tha hook from Drake and it was okay. He was also on tha 1st verse soundin’ good too. You took ova tha 2nd ½ of tha 1st verse, takin’ Drake’s shine away, sadly. His part was way betta… Nothin’ ta say about tha 2nd verse… Did I miss Weezy, lol? LOL, talk about driftin’ off!! My Rating: 3.6

09. “Hustle” Feat. Gudda & Lil’ Wayne
We got a Drew dude on tha beat; let’s see what happens… >>> What’s wit tha typical Wayne hook? He ain’t even in tha ID, lol? I just gon put him in there anyway… Why was dat recycled Wayne (from “Dear Lord”?) part added ta this song? I guess tha 1st verse iz from Gudda? It’s pretty good; more on tha more-explorive type-shit wit tha topics, lol! I find it funny how Wayne was just left outta tha ID! Time ta laugh! No comment on his part on tha 2nd verse too. You’re on tha 3rd verse and talk about typicalness… “play like a ball;” yawn… My Rating: 2.8

½time: Not really a CD I would like… Good beats but borin’ verses. Tha features are kinda typical but tha producers (e.g., X-Fyle) have it on lock here! Only 3.2 iz tha average CD rating currently…

10. “Shinin’” Feat. T-Pain
I don’t wanna hear this and T-Pain did tha beat too… >>> Nothin’ excitin’ here for a start. Anotha uncommented verse from you and dat hook iz just TOO gay fa me!! My God, “shinin’ like a spot, SPOT;” WTF!? Sounds like Drake wrote your 2nd verse ‘cause it sounds like you have his flow? LOL @ tha flow on tha 3rd verse wit tha “er”s! That was an attention grabber but still, nothin’ special still! My Rating: 1.9

11. “Mo Milly” Feat. Drake & Bun B
Got Boi-1da on tha beat again… This iz a betta collaboration and looks like it’s aimin’ fa tha “money” topic again, lol… >>> Sounds like some Summer-type vibes in tha beginning…; nothin’ special though. I don’t know what ta say about tha 1st verse… There’s nothin’ ta comment about. I like how Drake iz comin’ through on tha 2nd verse; catchy shit here FINALLY!! LOL @ his “I just lost my Gucci sandal in tha sand” part; nice shit! Bun sounds pretty good on his part throughout tha 3rd verse! Glad he contributed ta tha mixtape also! My Rating: 3.8

Break: I didn’t wanna take a break but this CD REALLY made me wanna fall asleep! Will it take faeva fa me ta get up? I dunno… *Sleeps* … *Gets up*

12. “I Want It All” Feat. Lil’ Wayne & Kevin Rudolf
And even Kevin Rudolf produced this one (a lotta self-producin’ on this CD, lol?)… I can just imagine what gon happen when I hear it… >>> More on tha 110–120 BPM style here wit tha faster beat… I usually go for this type of stuff but it’s kinda off to a cheesy start… It sounded like a cheesy Kevin Rudolf hook but it’s still a lil’ catchy. Tha 1st verse from you sounded different from this CD so it’s at least a lil’ bit of a plus… This iz DEFINITELY nowhere near a Louisiana sound though. Wayne was okay/nothin’ special on his part on tha 2nd verse. You even have a 3rd verse here and it sounds like you’re tryin’ ta be catchy; okay verse fa you. My Rating: 3.7

13. “Always Strapped (Remix)” Feat. Lil’ Wayne & Mack Maine
Mr. Beatz beat… I’ve known this one for a while due to Music Choice and a lil’ bit of MTV play. I liked this betta than tha remix I originally heard wit Ross on it and tha hook iz more on my “deadly ’07 dayz” type soundin’ wit tha dickridin’ Wayne sound. At least tha Wayne verse here iz good; all interestin’ rhymes here. Mack Maine sounded good fa his part on tha 2nd verse. Why’d “Got Money (Remix)” make him turn into Pop-Rap? That’s what I feel like… Sounds like a typical verse from you on tha 3rd verse… There were a lotta singles from this CD that were released. Then again, that’s what it’s like in tha mainstream today. My Current Rating: 3.8

14. “MP”
Olympicks did this beat; will they be good? >>> Somethin’ about “chickens” in tha beginning/hook/sample? It sounds like a cool intro but will it hold off anotha four minutes? I guess I won’t hate on your 1st verse; it was okay. Now, it’s more on tha typical side for tha 2nd verse so I don’t need ta say anything. You’re SO blinged out on tha 3rd verse too…, lol! My Rating: 3.7

15. “Ball Till Ya Fall” Feat. Gucci Mane
Anotha Boi-1da beat… >>> Sounds like “A Milli” type beat in tha beginning; did he really produce dat beat? LMAO, Gucci Mane on tha 1st verse! LOL @ them not sourcin’ Gucci on tha feature! How you leave a name like dat out? It might’ve increased sales a lil’ bit if he was listed, lol!! It was an okay verse, regardless. Tha hook iz just simple wit tha title… I like how you come in wit tha “kush” part in tha beginning of tha 2nd verse. I don’t have much ta say also about tha verse once again… I don’t need ta say anything about tha 3rd verse too. I guess I’ll describe it in one word: “Birdmanful;” it has your typicalness in it. My Rating: 3.5

16. “Grindin’, Making Money” Feat. Lil’ Kim & Nicki Minaj
Anotha Mr. Beatz joint… At least wit Lil’ Kim on this, can we get some shit on and poppin’ here? >>> I don’t like tha start… Oh no, Kim has been Auto-Tuned! Her lyrics were betta than yours and I’m sure she’s grindin’ harder wit tha rhymes here, lol. Still, I don’t like all this Auto-Tune shit! As for you on tha 2nd verse, it may be Auto-Tuneless but Kim did a betta job! As for Nicki on tha 3rd verse, I’ve always had a real low anticipation level for her when I heard her on Dedication 3 last year ‘cause she had a horrible Auto-Tune song. But yea, nothin’ ta say about her verse although I liked her Drake flow. My Rating: 3.1

17. “Written On Her (Remix)” Feat. Jay Sean & Mack Maine
LOL, HERE it iz!! Now, you’ll FINALLY get a 4.0+ rating after 17 songs! Iz that a record or what? And you produced this beat tha whole time? How’d you find out about Morgan Page Feat. Lissie “The Longest Road (Deadmau5 Remix Radio Edit), which iz what it samples? I DEFINITELY like how you sampled that beat and made it inta a song like this. Tha hook sounds good too wit Jay Sean on it. I rememba hearin’ it for tha first time in tha car, thinkin’ it was “The Longest Road,” but it surprised me. Yea, you had like nothin’ much in tha 1st verse but you did ya thang on tha beat! I didn’t realize this was a remix ‘cause now, we got Mack Maine on tha 2nd verse; lol @ no original version. That’s a lil’ different for a mainstream CD… It was an okay verse from Mack Maine though. LOL, you snuck inta tha 3rd verse here wit your original 3rd verse. It’s a slow flow and typical but I give a thumbs up to tha “purple dro;” you know. LOL, it says it also features Flo Rida; I didn’t hear him? Iz dat an error? LOL… I think it could’ve been left as tha original but it’s okay… I noticed how tha ending has Lissie’s voice as it’s a cold ending. I thought that was interestin’. My Rating: 4.0

18. “Southside (Remix)” Feat. Lil’ Wayne, Rick Ross & Mack Maine
Infamous & Slick did tha beat here… Anotha remix so let’s see how we gon end it (oh yea, I got tha “Deluxe Edition” so iz that why there’s these remixes?)… >>> This sounds like a cool ending song; I like tha beat start a lot. There’s even a catchy Wayne hook here. Good start… But, here you come wit some typicalness on tha 1st verse; yawn… Time for tha 2nd verse… Mack Maine’d out… Sounded interestin’ at 2:08 wit tha “make it outside” part. It was an okay verse once again; how will Ross do? It was okay fa what it was; at least this wasn’t horrible. My Rating: 3.8

Overall: It looks like it took ova nine hours ta review but that’s ‘cause I went to sleep. It really took one hour, 22 minutes total ta review this. Either way, I don’t feel that this CD earned a 3.4 average CD rating but those last songs helped it rise up… I wasn’t crazy about this CD; you sound betta in my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon as B-32 (I think that’s tha name).
