Review #571: Boulevard Boyz "Fire In The Hole 2"

Reviewed on 7.22.2010 (Review #571)

For this next review, I gon take it to an hour of where I’m at; takin’ it to near tha city in New York. About a month ago, my aunt went into tha city to see a play and these artists known as tha Boulevard Boyz encountered her. They (or one of their promoters) told her, “Don’t be afraid of black people,” or somethin’ like dat so she got this Fire In The Hole 2 CD from them (wit tha back of tha CD case signed). She told them I do reviewz so let’s see how it turns out. BTW, I have no tracklisting so I don’t know what I’ll be actually hearin’… Start Time: 10:58 AM | End Time: 11:44 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

Source (Where I Got Tha CD From): My aunt’s encounter in Manhattan, NY, lol!

01.
Tha 1st song; dunn, dunn, dunn! >>> Tha beat’s cool here; catchy shit! Sounds like a good introduction track. I like tha “B-L-OO-D-B-R-O-T-H-E-R-S: blood brothers” shit in tha hook! Tha 1st verse sounds good; good shit for tha undaground streetz of New York! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty gutta; thumbs up to my aunt on tha hookup of tha CD, lol! My Rating: 4.3

02.
>>> I hear tha New York sound in this beat; pretty good beat once tha rappin’ starts. Nice job wit tha 1st verse. Now, let’s see tha 2nd verse… Sounded like tha dude’s name iz “PZ?” I know my boy “Pezie” in Baton Rouge dat I fuck wit; he a cool dude so it was cool ta hear a similar name. Good shit towards tha end of tha verse and now, a 3rd verse? Yea, it fit! This verse has a GR8 “attitude” in it; consistent to tha fullest! I like dat “and don’t get too close ‘cause I’m flammable” line! My Rating: 4.2

03.
Off to a good start so far! Let’s hear how it gon continue… >>> Southern mix here wit tha sample in tha hook; definitely feelin’ tha motivated hook! Of course, that’s what I do: “stay on my grind!” This iz my 4th review for today and it’s STILL tha AM hour, lol! Nice job wit tha 1st verse, doin’ ya thang! “Smoke dat good shit;” I feel ya as you’re feelin’ good. Imported “money comin’ in” on tha 2nd verse as it’s “comin’ from Norway” and otha countries, ya dig! Tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ good wit this mix too… Nice job wit dis joint too! My Rating: 4.4

04.
A bigger length of 4:49 here; let’s see… >>> Oh, no; not good for me! This a jacked beat (“Put On”) and there’s Auto-Tune too; horrible combination for me. Sorry, I can’t take this that serious when it sounds like this… Everyone has A-Tune on their vocals? Tha 3rd verse had a tiny bit of normal vocals, includin’ a “let me get a blunt” part but otha than dat, too much like tha Kanye verse. My Rating: 1.2

05.
Only 1:16? What’s next? >>> Sounds like a skit, lol. “Hate Everything” in tha buildin’? “Blood Brothers?” Aren’t y’all tha Boulevard Boyz (accordin’ to your CD)? LOL @ this skit; “hateful,” lol. My Rating: N/A

06.
Tha next joint… >>> Good beat here; feelin’ tha energy it brings. Tha skit actually fit ta introduce this joint ‘cause it’s about bein’ “tha most hated” and “undarated;” I feel dat I’m REALLY “undarated;” people need ta take me serious! Ooh, tha beat sounds like it’s gettin’ REAL HOT ‘round :48! Tha 1st verse’s soundin’ gutta here wit tha undaground rhymes wit this GR8 feelin’! Catchy-ass joint right here! Tha 2nd verse’s focused too; so far, this iz my top-rated song! My Rating: 4.6

07.
Let’s keep dis hot shit comin’!! >>> Ooh, anotha tight beat wit anotha 2.5 minute length too! I can hear a Hot 97 vibe in this beat; would be gr8 on there! Even Power 105.1, ya dig! Tha 1st verse sounds good; good, New York-type life here in tha rhymes! I dig what you’re spittin’ on tha verse here; very continuous! My Rating: 4.3

½time: Off to a pretty good start! Lots of bangaz already and I’m only at tha ½ point! Tha average CD rating right now iz at 3.8.

08.
>>> So far, sounds like an intro. Oh, it’s tha “My Life” beat. Good thing it doesn’t have tha original hook in it; that’s a plus so I feel betta. Okay rappin’ here; prolly would’ve wanted to hear a betta attitude since it sounds like you’re tryna stay focused here. I wanted to hear anotha verse (or anotha dude) on this so I felt like it was missin’… My Rating: 2.7

09.
Longer length; let’s hear how all y’all’ll do wit this one… >>> Sometimes, tha undaground New York Rap sound can remind me of Philly Rap music and this has dat vibe. “10 stacks per verse,” huh? Y’all REALLY gettin’ bread then, huh? Good rappin’, anti-“crackers” here, lol. I can feel ya in a way but it took y’all ta approach a white person fa me ta get this CD, lol, feel me? Good hook; catchy towards tha end too. Tha 2nd verse sounds good wit tha consistent rappin’; let’s see how tha 3rd verse does… More representin’ goin’ on here in tha 3rd verse! “Spittin’” for tha “unheard voices;” good shit! My Rating: 3.9

10.
Breezin’ through dis thang right chea… Let’s see what tha #10 joint has in store… >>> “Swagga Like Us” beat? Even tha good hook and shortened length. I feel like I heard A-Tune in tha beginning? I hope not… Sorry, I can’t deal wit tha gay vocals. Tha 2nd verse sounds betta; I like tha screwed vocals at 2:04 about them “hataz comin’ ‘round.” At 2:10, it sounded like tha beat was pasted or somethin’ quickly… I thought I’d point dat out. My Rating: 1.9

11.
>>> Sounds like a “money” obsessive song or somethin’. Almost like a Jay-Z-soundin’ beat based off how it sounds. LOL, at :20.5, it sounded like it was pasted quickly again. I didn’t see any scratches on tha CD so it can’t be skippin’… A few otha parts sound pretty quick at times. Tha 1st verse’s not bad, regardless, even though this iz kinda mainstream fa me… Tha 2nd verse sounds like there’s New York swag here. I be rockin’ tha Coogi, Polos and Girbauds (and possibly soon, Levis), stayin’ fresh, Southern style, lol. Not bad song; maybe it could be a mainstream smash? My Rating: 3.2

12.
>>> Familiar kinda sample/track here… It sounds good wit this beat. Strong after effects on tha 1st verse here wit “leavin’ someone wheezin’;” damn! Pretty good verse… Tha 2nd verse sounds like tha “swag”’s up here when it comes ta not only how you rock on tha mic but also, how you want ta get exposure via “verses;” good shit. Ooh, a 3rd verse; let’s see… Motivated-type verse here; sounds good. My Rating: 3.8

13.
Lucky or unlucky #13? Let’s see… >>> I feel a lucky start and I had a lucky thought too! “Hustlaz” anthem here ta “ride out;” good soundin’ on tha beat and tha hook! Tha 1st verse iz keepin’ motivated thoughts and thangz movin’; pretty good… LOL, acapella 2nd verse here; interestin’! Tha first few bars were acapella and then, tha good beat came back! My Rating: 4.1

14. Outro
Down to tha last two jointz here…; how will this one sound? I’m predictin’ a jacked beat fa some reason… >>> LOL, just an outro; ROFL @ my guess! I was wonderin’, what happened @ :14 but it came back. I wonder what’s last; I ‘preciate reviewin’ this fa y’all.

15.
Maybe this’ll be a joint or a bonus or somethin’… >>> Not jacked beat (as what I said before); this iz easily a New York-soundin’ beat. Tha rhymes sound pretty good here for tha 1st verse… I’m DEFINITELY feelin’ tha grindin’ vibe once tha 1:00 mark came! “Ask tha king: he don’t want it wit tha ace;” feelin’ dat line! Gon “kill a nigga” here on tha hook; pretty gutta. Tha 2nd verse sounds like it gon have some kick-ass rhymes here, since it started wit tha “don’t have ta be on MTV ta be a sucka” line. “My life iz one big Grand Theft Auto;” good line once again! DEFINITELY a tight 2nd verse here!! “Plus, I’m in tha hood like my hand in a blizzard;” tight shit!! My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Y’all did ya thang on dis bitch! If only those two 1.0-rated songs weren’t on here, y’all would’ve had a 4-star rated CD from me. But, it’s all good ‘cause unlike some of tha shit I reviewed yesterday and earlier today, y’all had MULTIPLE bangaz on tha CD! Keep grindin’, ya heard me? Rememba: if I get tha tracklisting, I’ll fix up tha review wit tha titles.
