Review #575: Pookie Kane & Lil' Mac "Drowned In Bloody Water"

My 8th review for today iz from this dude Pookie Kane & Lil’ Mac and their “Drowned In Bloody Water” CD. Accordin’ to what you put in tha description on DatPiff, you said it’s, “1 of da hardest mixtapes out in da streets of baton rouge so grab a gun or knife or sumthin to listen to this shhh,” so I will make sure I seriously take anticipation serious! I also take tha label name, Bloody Boot Records, serious, since I really like tha name of it! Start Time: 9:15 PM | End Time: 10:25 PM


Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Move Sumthin’”
LOL @ a “mix” startin’ it off… >>> LOL, sounds like a Lil’ Jon start or somethin’… I thought it was gonna be like a “move, bitch! Get out tha way”-type shit but it sounds like it’s for tha ladies here. You sound like a 200+ pound dude here, a lil’ smooth on tha mic… “I want my dick in her asshole;” okay! Good shit for tha gurl; you doin’ ya thang, lol! Nice job wit tha 1st verse here! You should hook up wit Young Trayne; y’all nearly sound familiar. LOL, who’s tha dude on tha 2nd verse? Oh, Lil’ Mac (good thing for tha artist listin’ on tha mixtape)! He did his thang on dis too; gr8 collab! LOL, real cold ending dat cut off! My Rating: 4.3
EDIT: Didn’t realize this was a collaboration mixtape…


02. “D.O.P.E.”
Anotha “mix?” >>> Sounds hot for tha beat start here… REALLY feelin’ tha “bricks” shit in tha beginning of tha 1st verse here; sounds anticipatin’! Pretty long verse it sounds like… At least tha rhymes are not borin’ (since they’re on a drug tip); good shit still… LOL, sounded like one verse… My Rating: 4.2


03. “Fucked Up”
I’m gonna take tha “mix” outta tha titles… Anyway, this’ll prolly be good! >>> Ooh, REALLY feelin’ tha sound in tha beat durin’ tha hook; VERY good vibe for tha South! It’s all about dat gangsta-ass Southern-type shit! Nice job wit tha 1st verse! I was wonderin’ what happened ‘round 1:25; sounded like it was ‘bout ta transition or somethin’… My Rating: 4.3


04. “Feelin’ Me, Feelin’ You”
>>> SMH @ you puttin’ “fellin’” me; when did you “fall,” lol? I fixed it… Anyway, not exactly tha style I’d like in tha beginning but at least you have a pretty good voice on these tracks. Huh? What’s this hook? Doesn’t even sound like a new hook… I dunno about this one… My Rating: 2.8


05. “Good Times”
>>> Yucky, jacked R&B beat here… This iz real boring for me and since it was a jacked beat, I don’t need to comment. My Rating: 1.0


06. “I Know I Is”
>>> LOL, this “I Hustle” beat again? Why does tha quality sound like louder or somethin’? Good hook… Tha 1st verse’s aight but I’m likin’ tha sound of this 2nd verse! My Rating: 3.7


07. “I’m A Hustler”
“I’m Holdin’ It Down” or “I’m A Hustler”? What’s tha correct title? >>> Tha mp3 info iz (“I’m A Hustler”); I dunno where “I’m Holdin’ It Down” came from… Cool rappin’ here; pretty fast on a cool beat like dis. What happened at 1:15? Sounded like a lil’ kid near tha end? My Rating: 4.0

Oh, here this iz (might’ve been a reorderin’ error on tha DatPiff tracklisting)… >>> I heard dat beginning sound once before… Tha beat’s cool and tha 1st verse sounds REAL GOOD wit how you sound!! Tha 2nd verse’s good too wit you “holdin’ it down!” My Rating: 4.1


09. “Keep Real, My Nigga”
No “it,” lol? >>> Sounds pretty good in tha beginning, especially wit tha hook! Good “G” shit in tha 1st verse here; thumbs up. Tha rest of it’s pretty good too wit just Lil’ Mac on it… My Rating: 4.2


10. “Like A Dog”
Let’s hear what dis iz about… >>> LOL, interestin’ hook for tha hoes! ROFL @ tha 1st verse; VERY explicit and VERY GR8!! Tha 2nd verse’s keepin’ it real and tha 3rd verse’s really interested in this title to tha fullest, lol! My Rating: 4.5


11. “Mall City Exposed”
What could this be like? >>> I could’ve sworn I heard this beat not too long ago… Good soundin’ for tha beginning… Tha 1st verse’s a lil’ boring but it ain’t bad or anything… Wow, this sounds way too long…! My Rating: 2.2


12. “Mama Song”
Anotha “mama song?” >>> Oh, fuck! Not this “Feel It In The Air” beat… Might as well just sit here like a jackass for tha next 3:38… Good for your lyrical content but it’s hella boring for me ta listen ta this, especially on this beat… My Rating: 1.6


½time: Kinda off to a good start… It’s shakin’ up a lil’ bit but you hangin’ a lil’ wit a 3.4 average CD rating currently; glad y’all workin’ together as a team.


13. “Mighty Dollar”
LOL @ “dollor;” there’s an “a,” lol! >>> Okay soundin’ here… I think Pookie has tha voice that stands out in a good way. My Rating: 3.2


14. “Mind Games”
Let’s hear dis… >>> I feel like some of these beats are hit or miss for me; I can’t tell at times… Tha 1st verse’s aight… Tha hook sounds good; I like tha content a lil’ bit… Tha 2nd verse iz also Pookie and it sounds good… My Rating: 3.6


15. “My Boo”
I dunno about this one… >>> Not that familiar of a beat but Pookie, you sound pretty good in tha beginning for dis kinda track… Good lil’ 1st verse from you, Pook, and tha hook sounds like a feel good “ride.” Tha 2nd verse fits wit dis joint too… My Rating: 3.5


16. “Nunnie Cat”
Interestin’ title here! Let’s see what dis “nunnie cat” iz, lol! >>> Oh, fuck! An “I Get Money” beat? WTF? Funny hook though… I don’t think it’ll last… Mac’s on tha 1st verse and there’s really nothin’ ta say… Pookie’s on tha 2nd verse and again, not much ta say but it’s a touch betta than tha 1st verse. My Rating: 2.1


17. “She Hot & Wet”
What’s this? >>> LOL, tha beat start made me laugh a lil’… I’m likin’ tha content on dis hook… Pretty good although it’s really repetitive towards tha end… Speakin’ of “one big orgy,” this dude (who sounds like he’s drunk) dat calls into my radio show nearly every week always asks me if there’s gurls in tha studios and somethin’ ‘bout “wild orgies,” lol… My Rating: 3.6


18. “Smooth Operator”
“Operator,” not “oparator,” smh… >>> This iz just decent; okay beat wit okay rappin’… My Rating: 2.5


19. “Goin’ In Circles”
I’m surprised dat they didn’t remove tha “I Get Money” sample but they removed this from tha DatPiff folder? Only a 30 second sample I can get… >>> Oh, dat Crime Mob song (I think I was gonna guess dat). I have a feelin’ dat this wasn’t gonna be for me anyway… My Rating: 2.0


20. “That’s Tru”
Let’s find out what it iz. >>> An intro… Cool beat and tha hook sounds good wit tha sample soundin’ like Redman on tha title. Tha verses are not bad here once again; I like tha song though… My Rating: 3.7


21. “Hater What You Lookin’ At”
Was gonna say, “Why iz this one missin’ too,” but tha YUCKY-ASS ’07 ID on tha DatPiff player says it all! >>> LOL, didn’t get an exact sample so I’d just have ta picture a rating in my brain; what would it sound like? My Adjusted Rating: 3.2


22. “What U Want” (Shika)
Damn, 4:39? Where’d all tha length come from? >>> Ooh, this Shika gurl’s pretty good on this beginning wit this beat; likin’ this… She’s even rappin’ on tha 1st verse; iz this her song or iz she featured? It must be her song ‘cause she’s on tha 2nd verse too… I’m kinda gettin’ bored towards tha 3:00 mark; tha length should’ve been shortened or somethin’… My Rating: 2.9


23. “Why You”
>>> Damn, a jacked beat. Heard this a while back and don’t rememba what it iz. I think it’s from those yucky ’07 dayz too… EDIT: I think it’s a Wayne beat (or feature song of his)…; oh… No wonder my guess, lol. EDIT 2: Tha “Prostitute” beat; I was right! Sounds like a funny argument, lol. Okay rappin’ from tha both of y’all here… I like Pookie’s endin’. My Rating: 3.4


24. “Yung Niggas”
How will we end it? >>> That familiar beat sound effect like in #8 in tha beginning… Cool hook and tha song sounds good! Interestin’ way to end; glad it wasn’t borin’! My Rating: 4.1


Overall: Kinda mixed review for me. Wit tha description in tha beginning, I thought this would be somethin’ more gangsta, especially tha “bloody” parts displayed everywhere… Just a decent CD for me; I would’ve expected ta hear more of an undaground sound at times than some of those mainstream jacked beats.
