Review #934: Slim Reaper & Young Bizz "The Young Hoggs (The Prequel)"

Reviewed on 5.18.2011 (Review #934)

I really don’t wanna be bothered wit these current reviewz, now, so I hope to get through ‘em fast… First up, Slim Reaper & Young Bizz “The Young Hoggs (The Prequel). Start Time: 9:42 AM | End Time: 10:09 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. Intro
>>> Nice mixin’ from Dolby D wit a good beat. My Rating: N/A

02. “What You Know”
>>> This has, like, a Houston feel to it; really likin’ tha beat sounds! Tha 1st verse sounds like a Slim Thug breed, lol. Once again, I’m likin’ tha H-Town feel, here. Tha dude on tha 2nd verse sounds good, although I dunno how he can do all dat leanin’. Like before, tha dude on tha 2nd verse also gives a good H-Town feel fa Louisiana, here. My Rating: 4.2

03. “318”
>>> I like this better; “318” representin’, here! Almost sounds like a Master P-soundin’ anthem from tha ‘90s wit tha anthematic hook! Only one dude on this? Nice job wit all tha rhymes and holdin’ it down fa tha “318” to tha fullest! My Rating: 4.5

04. “Bad Yea”
>>> LOL @ how this title iz, minus tha “ma’fucka” part, lol; nice hook, once again. Tha beat’s pretty good and y’all holdin’ down this track wit rhymes and catchy shit! I like tha endin’ wit all tha repetitive parts; good shit… My Rating: 4.3

05. “In This Bitch”
>>> SMDH, what’s wit this gay-ass “Throw Some D’s” beat? Rhymes are still good, regardless. My Rating: 3.7

06. “Ounces & Halves”
>>> Damn, keep gay-ass ’07—and parts of Late ’06—outta dis!! Tha 1st verse sounds like a jacked flow, so I can’t take it too serious…; tha 2nd verse iz betta wit consistent rhymes, at least. My Rating: 3.5

07. “This Is My Guap”
>>> Fuck!! Why are tha beats gettin’ gayer? This iz an ’11 mixtape, not no ’07—or iz it? Okay rhymes but too jacked from tha original. My Rating: 2.5

08. “Make Me Madd”
>>> At least this was a Louisiana beat; not a gay one durin’ those times! Damn, how come this one had ta be so short? At least it sounds pretty good… My Rating: 3.8

09. “Fall Back”
>>> This one ain’t too bad (“Livin’ In The Projects”? Somewhere around dat, since it’s somewhat hard to remember); rhymes are nice and I’m likin’ tha mixin’ throughout tha hook. My Rating: 3.8

10. “You Done Fucked Up”
>>> Sounds like tha really old dayz wit how this beat sounds! I really like this hook wit tha repeatin’ title, mixed wit some ’90s-soundin’ N.O.-type vocals! Nice job wit tha 1st verse although I’m feelin’ dis 2nd verse betta; great voice! My Rating: 4.4

½time: I think this CD’s 50/50; good but why tha ’07 songs? So far, 3.9 iz tha CD rating.

11. Meat Memoirs
>>> Sounds like gay background music? More like people talkin’? This izn’t a song… Now, tha beat’s nice and smooth. ROFL, it’s a sex scene about y’all “meat,” lol! How random! My Rating: N/A

12. “So Soft”
I can tell what dis beat gon be, smfh… >>> *Yawn* Very boring; can’t get into these female-related rhymes. My Rating: 1.9

13. “Break ‘Em Off”
>>> Decent durin’ tha 1st verse/beginning but tha hook’s hot; likin’ tha G-Funk-soundin’ beat! Tha hook’s real hot but tha verses are nothin’ special for me… My Rating: 3.8

14. “Long Way To Go”
>>> Vocals sound a lil’ lower, here… Damn, what’s wit tha stupid singin’ hook? Meaning, why iz it on this CD when I was in a mood for H-Town vs. 318-type moods? Verses are soundin’ boring to me, too, wit not much goin’ on. My Rating: 1.8

15. “Die A Grandfather”
>>> Although ’06, on a “mixtape”, I don’t wanna hear a sad beat like “Live In The Sky”. However, I seem to like this hook and what’s goin’ on wit bein’ a “grandfather” when you “die;” interestin’… Only one dude, here, and ironic how I’m likin’ tha real-life lyrics; I usually dislike, although this rating ain’t too high, either. I’m only surprised dat it’s at least 3.0 and iz betta than some of these other songs. My Rating: 3.0

16. “Ain’t Dat A Bitch”
>>> Another one wit a sappy beat and somewhat-good, real-life rhymes. LOL @ tha Pimp C hook; likin’ it! Tha 2nd verse sounds good wit these dark-soundin’ vocals. My Rating: 3.6

17. “Grab That”
>>> Sounds aight for an anthem for tha ladies; lol, there are dark sounds that give this an interestin’ vibe… Overall, interestin’ mix… My Rating: 3.7

18. “On The Grind”
A short one… >>> I think I might like tha previous song betta; this sounds like an aight freestyle or short song. For tha hook, I’m likin’ tha mixin’, as it reminds me of a NYC-type hook. Tha 2nd verse iz soundin’ good, here; almost reminds me of Sean P of tha Youngbloodz. My Rating: 3.6

19. “Going Down”
>>> Louisiana or not, rappin’ on “Wipe Me Down”’s a lil’—not gay, but old by now. LOL @ tha “fuckin’” rhymes; sounds like a lot’s goin’ on, here, lol; only one dude, once again… My Rating: 3.3

20. “Play It Loud” Feat. Calicoe The Champ
>>> Ending wit a real-soundin’ song fa Louisiana? Anotha one wit dat G-Funk sound dat I’m likin’! Lemme take dis one a lil’ more serious… Tha 1st verse sounds good wit this true Southern rappin’! Tha beat iz 100% hot; can’t deny some true Louisiana shit! Hope err-body’s survivin’ tha Mississippi River shit! Tha 2nd verse has more energy; gotta luv it!! Tha 3rd verse iz nice; sounds like Calicoe The Champ? Gonna put him in tha ID; nothin’ but surprises, here!! My Rating: 4.6

21. “Whip Game Proper”
Not on tha back cover? >>> ROFL, wonder why (“Whip Game”)! Sadly, I’m gonna just call it “Whip Game Proper” ‘cause I’m sure you’d call it dat. Once again, tha gay ’07 times; tha 1st verse iz aight—a lil’ betta than usual. Then again, smh @ tha original hook, even though I always liked it? Tha 2nd verse sounds a lil’ betta; consistent rhymes! My Rating: 3.4

Overall: Too many jacked beats—even worse, ’07! Only a couple songs were hot—I think ¼ of this CD only was, which iz kinda weak…
