Review #951: D.O.T. (Die On Top) "Da Prequel"

Reviewed on 5.24.2011 (Review #951)

My final review for tonight iz D.O.T. (Die On Top), outta Bayou Boi Entertainment, Da Prequel. Start Time: 11:58 PM | End Time: 12:39 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. Therapy Session (1st Hour)
>>> Oh, you rep “New Orleans”? Thought you were from BR; good intro and nice dialogue. My Rating: N/A

02. “?”
LOL @ tha title and Dot Com Beatz on tha beat! >>> I like tha “what? What? Wa-wa-wa-wa-what?” shit in tha beginning. “… try and change my style;” how other people get inta dis? Anyway, A+ on tha rappin’! My Rating: 4.5

03. “Born To Win” Feat. T Tyrant
Anotha DCB production. >>> A lil’ odd on tha hook wit tha vocals but it sounds like it’ll be a good song… Rhymes are good, once again; nice job on dis good-soundin’ beat. My Rating: 4.0

04. “Beam Me Up”
No producer? >>> Has a lil’ Philly vibe to it dat I’m likin’ wit these rhymes! Tha hook’s soundin’ good although a lil’ cliché wit tha title, “Scotty!” Damn, not tha Wayne/Drake flow on tha 2nd verse! I thought you were “different”? You need ta hear my music, then! My Rating: 3.8

05. “Sucka Free” Feat. Queen Hillary
How come #3 didn’t have a feature listed on tha back cover? >>> Fuck, you’re jackin’ Rick Ross, now! C’mon, I want my “different” like “?”!! Stupid Rick Ross, Wayne & Drake flows ruinin’ this generation!!! Glad I stopped listenin’ to mainstream music before Drake came in! At least Queen Hillary’s here, helpin’ you out. Overall, decent song, but no need to be almost five minutes long! My Rating: 3.5

06. “R.A.W.”
Finally, original production from Dot Com; let’s kill tha jacked flows!! >>> Finally, a lil’ betta! Gotta have an original flow from you as well as an original, hot beat! Tha rhymes are entertainin’, here; surprised you—and everyone else in tha business—know about so much shit… I’m hearin’ tha hook and lol @ your cockiness against weak rappers; feelin’ dat, a lil’. My Rating: 4.2

07. “Fire” Feat. Jewell
>>> Sounds like a Pop Rap song fa tha start mixed wit cussin’ fa a female hook, lol. Oh well, at least you have some hot, consistent rhymes goin’ on… My Rating: 3.4

08. “I Can’t Sing”
>>> Not bad although kinda typical about havin’ lyrics for tha ladies…; I thought this had ta do wit singin’? Aight, this iz gettin’ to tha Pop Rap level, again; why do people from tha South think they can obsess tha stupid, no-longer-hot East Coast? My Rating: 2.8

09. Therapy Session (2nd Hour)
>>> Tha skits are definitely betta! “That’s my nigga;” how do you get people to agree wit bein’ cool wit each other? My Rating: N/A

½time: Only at 3.7, currently; gimme back tha beginning-soundin’ song!

10. “Spit Earthquakes”
Glad this iz here! Previously reviewed on The BBE Fam’s “Da Introduktion” last April! My Current Rating: 4.6

11. “Right Now”
A DCB production, again. >>> Good quality of tha flow, beat, and how you come through wit tha good, catchy rhymes! My Rating: 4.2

12. “Believe”
DCB, once again. >>> Why in tha hell tha original song in tha beginning? Even though this real beat’s soundin’ hot, my interest took a decrease due to a purposely-commercial perspective. Well, at least you’re back wit tha A – A+ rhymes! My Rating: 4.4

13. “Hard In The Paint” Feat. Dot Com & DK Mannie
Keepin’ tha original, DCB productions comin’! >>> Thought I’d be tricked but no, this iz an aight-soundin’ song. Tha 1st verse sounds aight; nothin’ too special wit tha lyrics… Wit tha 2nd verse, it sounds too typical wit tha way tha flow sounds; not too bad, even though nothin’s standin’ out wit this song. Tha 3rd verse, too; can’t get a major plus from this whole song… My Rating: 3.7

14. “Black Hoodie (Remix)” (BBE Fam)
Anotha BBE Fam song produced by Dot Com… >>> What’s up wit tha Dot Com beat tag, here (and throughout this mixtape)? Thought I heard betta in tha past. Glad this iz tha whole Fam ‘cause err-body’s doin’ a good job. Even though tha beat’s aight, at least this has a freestyle-type feel to it, so there’s really no need for tha beat to be all dat tight. Tha hook’s slowly becomin’ gay to me, even though it’s still a lil’ catchy; I don’t like tha Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em-type voice. I would have ta say, you’re prolly tha best on here, right behind Fletch. My Rating: 4.1

15. “Blood Money” Feat. EZ Money
>>> Whoeva EZ Money iz, they’re aight; I’m not sure about havin’ “blood” and “money” together in tha title, though, especially since I’m gettin’ sick of these “money” songs and dat I had a fake person have “blood” in their representation… You’re soundin’ betta, here; glad you got tha rappin’ goin’ on! “Money brang dem hoes;” not in my case. “Money brang me motivation” when people do business wit me. Or, it can do nothin’ ‘cause I don’t care about it. My Rating: 3.6

16. “Tonight” Feat. T Tyrant, Lil’ Sleepy & J Fletcha
SMDH @ havin’ Fletcha’s name spelled “er” at tha end on tha back cover… >>> Nothin’ too special, here, but it’s a lil’ catchy wit buku people bein’ on dis. Of course, J Fletcha has a good amount of character in his voice, so he gets a plus from me! Nice job wit tha verse, Fletch! My Rating: 3.9

17. “Cash Dedication”
Who’s Cash? Dot Com producin’, once again… >>> Great focus, here! Too bad Dot Com uses dat stupid-ass, played-out Drummer Boy sound effect. But, tha consistency gets an A+ as well as your rappin’!! My Rating: 4.6

18. “Strong As Iron”
How we gon end dis? >>> Oh, tha continuation of tha interview/skits! It sounds like you’re explainin’ even more, includin’ tha “cocky” shit, lol; I like dat you said, “huh bruh,” too. Oh, this iz a song; didn’t realize how long it was, too. Oh no, boring, typical ending song? Not likin’ tha sample and tha beat sounds kinda slow… Wit tha rappin’, it’s aight; much betta than tha whole song, overall. My Rating: 3.3

Overall: I thought this was a pretty good mixtape; you know how y’all do it for Bayou Boi Ent.!
