Review #1,428: DeTrane "The Manifesto Disc"

Reviewed on 1.30.2015 (Review #1,428)

Anotha day, anotha review… Here goes anotha review for tha Baton Rouge Music Company: DeTrane The Manifesto DiscStart Time: 4:26 PM | End Time: 5:25 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2015 CD Review (Review #1,428) reviewed on 1.30.2015 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. “Juz Practicing”
X-Fyle on tha track… >>> Oh, re-reading tha title while I listen to this, and it sounds like you are “practicing.” “Camp engineering,” here… Sounds like it could be your first-eva recorded song? A lil’ “practicing” in tha beginning and now, tha hook, and it sounds great on this beat… Hearin’ tha only verse and it sounds good, except for referencing one of my enemies; good grief… Anyway, great to hear for a practice track… My Rating: 4.1

02. “DOD (Date Of Disappearance)”
Nice title… >>> Nice beginning beat… Oh, lol, what happened to that producer (Vybe), ROFL?! Reminds me of when I did a billion reviewz in one year (2010). LOL, what a loser I was with no job and no car! Anyway, a short song and tha lyrics are okay, here… Pretty shitty for a “disappearance” to occur… Tha beat sounds like it screwed up a lil’ bit around 2:03, but still, pretty-good track, overall… My Rating: 3.7

03. “LTPTFB”
Not sure what to expect here, but produced by Adam Roberstson… >>> Sounds pretty good… “Livin’ too fast,” huh? Yeah, I remember you with those dayz ‘cause you had connections… I been livin’ nice and slow ‘cause I had nobody in tha beginning to hang out with and all dat, so I decided to do college and school, first, before all tha high hangouts and all dat. Well, this only has one verse with a long beat outro… Beat’s nice and what you were spittin’ was great, too; glad you’re still alive… My Rating: 3.8

04. “Bend It Ova” feat. Target & June
>>> Really likin’ tha start to this track, lol!! Beat’s pretty catchy and I luv how you’re spittin’ some sexual rhymes ova this track! Tha hook sounds pretty good, too; diggin’ tha whole vibe, once again… Here comes Target on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit okay rhymes… I like how it says, “Where my real niggaz at?,” in tha background of tha hook… Anyway, here comes June on tha 3rd verse and he sounds great to hear, too! “Dem Xanabarz;” yeah! My Rating: 4.4

05. “Played With Razors”
>>> Though not listed on tha filename, X-Fyle’s doin’ tha beat, here… I know I remember this title from old filenames or somethin’ that you might’ve sent me… Anyway, tha hook sounds catchy, especially with this slicing title… Tha verse’s pretty good; just regular rappin’ at its finest… My Rating: 4.0

06. “Like This, Like That” feat. Target & Mashes
I know this came before your compilation, but lol, tha same filename! Nice beat start to get you hyped up… You on tha 1st verse… Tha hook sounds pretty nice with these females helpin’ you out! Glad to hear you rappin’ once again, with tha 1st verse! It sounds pretty good, here… LOL, “no masturbate?” Random that you mentioned it… Anyway, nice job, here! Tha 2nd verse sounds nice, here, from this Target person; not like tha store, lol? It sounds pretty good, here; regular white boy rap, here, with tha flow and sound… Tha female on tha 3rd verse, here (Mashes?)… It sounds nice, although a lil’ quiet with tha whole track’s sound, overall? I’m diggin’ her sexual shit; nice collab! LOL @ tha ending, between you and tha chick with tha “Girl, I like…” / “Boy, I like…;” nice! My Current Rating: 4.2

07. “Dumb, Dumb” feat. B-Raw & Lil’ Yella
Finally on a disc, but because of tha feature, I’m not goin’ to press play. I’m just goin’ to remember what it sounded like when I heard it five years ago… Anyway, Camp on tha beat. Oh yeah, remembering even better: This was when B-Raw turned his back on me. This was one of two (yeah, two) songs I played on that radio show I did, where I played him and then, got deleted from Facebook. Yeah, not acceptable at all! So, based off my memory: Catchy topic of pillz, catchy hook, an okay beat, and nice verses… My Current Rating: 4.5

08. “Aiming 4 The North”
An X-Fyle beat with LoJo engineering tha track… >>> Beat’s nice, with a lil’ rock sound in tha background… Here you are on tha 1st verse and it sounds good to hear. Tha hook sounds catchy with how you’re “aiming 4 tha North,” despite you neva comin’ to visit me! When will it be? I know you’re a dad now, so it’s a lil’ hard… FYI: You “started out in ’98;” good to know, as you start tha 2nd verse, here… Pretty-good 2nd verse, overall, as you kept this track goin’… Did tha beat screw up a lil’ (like a part of it was missing) at 2:43? My Rating: 4.1

09. “Drawn Together”
>>> Sounds like a good song with lyrics for tha start, here, and tha plain beat sounds good with some of tha sounds I hear… “We fly high like some jointz;” you know! Tha verse sounds pretty good, here… Tha 2nd verse’s nice to hear, too… LOL @ tha “Hey, This Tha Best Kept Secret!” in tha background; reminds me of 2012 with P.I.R. from Morganza! My Rating: 3.5

10. “36 Bars”
X-Fyle, or should I fully say, Howard M X-Fyle on tha track… >>> LOL, a lotta “nice” shit, here, from “tits” to anything you can think of, randomly and quickly, lol… Beat sounds plain with a lil’ bit of good southern sounds… I like how you spelled, “D-E-T-R-A-N-E.” I remember those dayz when people would “try to dial my phone;” kinda feels weird that my buzz completely died… Likin’ tha “B…R…M…C…,” too… And, you went all tha way till tha end, here, with a nice, cold ending… My Rating: 4.2

11. “Tell Me Why”
Lil’ Fonzie on tha track… >>> Beat sounds nice; I’m diggin’ tha choir-like dark sound… Hearin’ you rap this verse and I’m likin’ that you “wish [you] had a purple J to pass tha time;” I agree. However, when I smoke, it’s a socialize enhancer; I almost don’t feel autistic anymore, and it’s great that I feel more normal…! Great job with this track, overall… My Rating: 4.3

½time: Diggin’ this Disc, so far; glad you put out a disc! It’s always a good thing to leave your mark on tha world! Nice production and great stories from you; keep it up! Currently, your average CD rating’s at a 4.1!

12. “Time Tick’n” feat. Polo Turk & D-So
Likin’ tha lineup of features, here, with X-Fyle on tha beat… >>> Sounds like an owl or somethin’ whistlin’ in tha beginning, lol? Sounds like this gon be exciting; nice beginning with tha beat and you in tha beginning… Tha hook’s catchy; gotta keep representin’ fa “BRMC” and tha “family!” “Donuts with no filling,” huh? Gotta luv it! Ate three of ‘em today, three yesterday, and four on Wednesday! Here’s Polo Turk on tha 2nd verse and he sounds like a dope dude to hear; great voice fa tha 225 and some good rhymes on this! LOL @ 2:53: It sounded like it jumped, a lil’… LOL @ 3:06, when D-So came in: Tha audio quality got worse and it sounded like an earthquake sound, in tha beginning of it, ROFL… Anyway, gotta luv D-So and it’s still great to hear; can’t fuck wit him tha wrong way! “And, hit ya wit dat tiger bite!” LOL, afta tha final hook, it just cut off, coldly, lol! That’s a word while I’m high, when describin’ my nose: “Coldly!” My Rating: 4.4

13. “Ashes” feat. Mista Matt & Heno
A lil’ #TBT feature to go with what I said yesterday, during tha Respect The Music Vol. 1 review. Anyway… >>> A good start; guitar sound in tha beginning almost sounds like “Stayin’ Alive”… Anyway, kickin’ off this “South Coast Coalition”-like collab off with you on tha 1st verse; sounds pretty good with your rappin’… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s awkward; what’s this voice I’m not used to? Not really diggin’ that voice with tha “die” subject… Here’s tha 2nd verse and lol @ you buyin’ “herb by tha gram, not tha dime.” LOL, I “buy by tha dime” ‘cause I don’t need that much for tha evening to get me high. Plus, I don’t need it to reach levels where I’m blowin’ so much money; $5 - $10 a night’s fine for me… Good job wit tha 2nd verse; gotta feel your rappin’ and what you provide on tha mic… Here’s Matt on tha 3rd verse and this dude / voice goes good with Flashback Friday, at least… Even better lyrics than yours, here; diggin’ tha “through tha jungle” shit. LOL, iz that, “When you die, I’mma save you like trophies,” on tha hook? LOL, it sounds random, but I think this was great, overall… Oh, and, Heno on tha outro, too (he was on tha hook); sounded like a vampire at tha end, or some scary creature, lol… My Rating: 4.3

14. “Let Him”
>>> LOL @ tha 2004 “Hold You Down” beat from The Alchemist and them from NY; reminds me of my first iPod… Anyway, nice 1st verse from you; good lyrics to go over this jacked beat… Either way, what happened to tha shorter songs? I think it was better to have them ‘cause tha longer ones by yourself can get a lil’ dragging… Tha 2nd verse’s nice, dedicated to your fiancé, at tha time (I remember tha old filename, even though I neva listened to tha song, years and years ago). LOL, back in ’08 & ’09, I used to associate tha word, “Fiancé,” with you ‘cause I used to always hear it from you; figured I’d let you know that fact. And now, here’s tha 3rd verse; more rappin’ for tha fee-to-tha-ahnss-to-tha-aye, lol… My Rating: 3.2

15. “City Lights” feat. CK & Profit
>>> Beat sounds pretty good, here, with a singin’ hook soundin’ good, too; nice to represent tha “city” of Baton Rouge! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s a nice representation for this track; keep it goin’… Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice, here… “Pillz got us trippin’ and killin’ our own children;” crazy… Tha 3rd verse sounds good from you; always keep it goin’ while you “march when [you] step!” My Rating: 4.2

16. “Lay’em In The Street” feat. Profit & Savage
>>> Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! What a trap!!! *Screams my manager and my future girlfriend, who I helped buy a car’s names together!!!* As soon as I saw this title, I was like, “Wow, I remember that “Lay ‘Em In Da Street” song from A-Mar & Dyl from 2010; ironic title.” And, whataya know? This that fuckin’ song!! Savage on tha beat and hook, of course… In my manager’s funny voice, “Why’d I have to hear that voice on tha hook, right now?!?” Oh, let’s pretend I neva got high before, like an asshole and had no car!! Ewe, weird times; it’s just a guilty pleasure feeling, right now!! Anyway, good job with tha 1st verse, DeTrane, but get a different beat and let this one R.I.P.! Tha 2nd verse from Profit’s good, too; not bad, but you brought tha vagina outta me, here!! It’s like, why’d Savage have to unfollow me from Twitter & Instagram? Oh, and he even followed B-Raw on Instagram; good fuckin’ grief! Talk about backstabbing! Thought he didn’t know him? Gee, thanx? I could care less, anyway; I’ll just say, “I suck,” and admit it! I’m glad I fell off! I’m glad I’m a self-centered cunt, these dayz!! I had to unfollow him ‘cause he wasn’t peepin’ out videos I was doin’ for him, and he had B-Real on his page, at times, which was really uncomfortable… My Rating: 4.2

17. “Prying Eyes”
Nice title, again… >>> Tha beat sounds nice with a rock sound in tha background… Okay, we’re back to tha shorter songs, once again (including tha previous song, though I was so distracted with that one)… Tha verse’s pretty good with how you handle this beat and these “eyes,” lol… Tha hook sounds nice, too; feelin’ how you comin’ through on this. My Rating: 4.1

18. “Baton Rouge Anthem” (ChaYsuh feat. Lil’ Yella, DeTrane & City Boy)
You’re on tha feature? >>> Nice that ChaYsuh was on tha intro, but really? “B-Raw on tha feature;” why? Don’t be scarin’ me again!! Anyway, nice 1st verse from Yella, here; diggin’ what he bringin’ to tha table with this nice beat… Oh, no wonder why you’re on tha feature: It’s ChaYsuh’s song… Hearin’ tha hook and ChaYsuh’s reppin’ this hook pretty good; nice job! Here he iz on tha 2nd verse and he’s comin’ through wit some great shit ta vibe to… Makes me wanna appreciate tha whole “Baton Rouge” sound, once again! Here’s you on tha 3rd verse, Trane, and it sounds pretty upbeat, as far as tha energy you bring to tha table. *Grunts* C’mon, Trane, with that reference of you-know-who… Here’s City Boy on tha 4th verse, comin’ through with good shit; almost thought it was you-know-who, lol! You know I had to prepare! A quick verse, but he did a nice job representin’, here! LOL, it cut off real quick? My Rating: 4.4

19. “No Stems, No Seeds”
>>> LOL, tha volume got much lower than tha previous song… LOL @ tha intro to tha hook: “Wake up in tha morning, hit this muthafuckin’ weed;” you already know! Rarely have hit it early, but you already know I’m up for anything. And, when I say that, that doesn’t include peer pressure; that includes not bein’ tired for anything, no matter what hour it iz! Anyway, here’s tha verse, and it sounds good; nice job, here… LOL, I should make this my top-rated song ‘cause of tha topic of “weed!” My Rating: 4.5

20. “Dumb Way” feat. D-So, A-Mar & Dyl
Speakin’ of Throwback Thursday with tha features, here’s anotha one (A-Mar & Dyl); haven’t seen those names in forever… Also, I think you’re missing tha “O” in “D-S” (D-So), lol… >>> Holy throwback with that A-Mar & Dyl hook!!! OMG, this reminds me of first gettin’ into Louisiana music; OMG, quality, here!!! Guess I found my true #1 song? And, ain’t this tha song with “DeTrane got tha chopper…?” I think so ‘cause I remember tha voice and beat… Anyway, oh, those dayz of me bein’ in my 1st college’s dorm, when Nu$$ie was still alive, and Louisiana was so innocent for me (before I knew about killings). And yeah, that’s D-So on tha 1st verse, comin’ through with great shit, from “hoppin’ like a frog,” to his jiggalated voice! Gotta luv tha energy and grimy shit he brings to tha table! Gotta always have Jigga City in ya heart, no matter what day, time, year, etc. it iz! And, here’s you on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit some good shit, as well; diggin’ tha shit you bringin’ to tha table like it was ’08 or somethin’! Oh, you put me in such a great mood, now!! LOL, I feel like just reviewin’ for tha hell of it again, like I was 19 again! My Rating: 4.6

21. “Huey Long Ya Ass”
LOL? >>> I like tha phone tone in tha background repeatin’; “rat-tat-tat-tat-tat…!!” Definitely a catchy hook and beat, here, to rap on… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds pretty great; I luv when you rap about drug-related shit! It’s all about dem jiggaz! I always wonder if I’ll eva swallow one? It’ll prolly be a long while from now; who knows… Tha 2nd verse sounds good, here, too; gotta dig what you bringin’ to tha table!! My Rating: 4.5

22. “Lost In The Game” feat. Mista Matt
>>> Of course, tha 1st eva time I heard X-Fyle on tha beat (a decade ago, no less); “Y’all Heard Of Me” beat… Tha hook from you sounds good, here; gotta feel it. Tha 1st verse from you’s definitely dope with tha “X” and “blowin’ on tha dro;” would luv to do dat shit witchu, one day! Hope I ain’t pushin’ thangz off too much; I can’t help it… LOL, Trane: “I’ll haunt you like a thug;” fa’real!! Yeah, I can see your negative feelings toward tha “cops” and shit. More on dat if you wanna inbox me… Hearin’ Matt on tha 2nd verse and it sounds okay, here… LOL @ “take her to tha bathroom and hit her on tha sink;” wonder if he got that in him, now? I mean, I hang, smoke, and get high wit a 47-year-old chick, so y’all still got time! Think, DeTrane: You’re 16 ½ years younger!! That’s, like, two decades difference; always feel young and ready ta do anything!! My Rating: 3.9

Overall: I thought this was fun reviewin’ this! Really felt all your stories and it was like a whole decade worth of tracks, here; can’t believe we’re on my 8th year of my Louisiana connection! I feel like I should do some more reviewz, which I gon do! I have a few more to get to, but I feel like I wanna get back into doin’ this more… However, a demon’s about to cross: Next Thursday already gon be a full year since B-Real blocked me from online (February 5th). It literally was, like, tha death of Louisiana to me. However, I’m just praying and hoping that he’ll wake up and we can restore everything. With a record label behind me and now, an upcoming NYC publication tryna get a hold of him, there could be a chance! I’m just thinkin’ positive but for now, my true passion’s still confused, heartbroken, and up in tha air… Anyway, keep up tha great work and not-backstabbing collaborations!
