Review #1,911: Tre-8 "Armageddon: The Last Day For Rappers"

Reviewed on 12.27.2019 (Review #1,911)

As I proceed wit my day off, here goes my next review: Tre-8 Armageddon: The Last Day For Rappers, released in 1999 on Smoke 1 Records! Love Tre-8!! Start Time: 7:45 PM | End Time: 8:56 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

Review #1,820: Tre-8 "Nuttin' But Drama"

Reviewed on 10.13.2019 (Review #1,820)

Now that I’m pretty-much settled, I think it’s time I revive my ever-revivin’ Louisiana Reviewz Marathon that I started, back on May 1, 2009. I haven’t done a throwback review since August 11, 2017, due to Austin On Tha Track passin’ away. It threw off my flow for reviewin’ tha old CDs and now, I finally am back at this… I’m a lot stronger wit my mind & don’t think anythang’ll stop my goals, from now on! Where I left off was toward tha end of ’98 wit tha late Tre-8 Nuttin’ But Drama, released in 1998 on South Coast Music Group & Smoke 1 Records; let’s get it! Start Time: 11:54 AM | End Time: 1:07 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I’ll give her tha props fa bein’ a great addition ta this track… Dope ending: “We gon rise like blunt shmoke…, bitch!” My Rating: 4.5

11. “Nuttin’ But Drama”

>>> Beat sounds pretty nice, here; likin’ this laidback one more than tha previous one… Hearin’ Kimm sing in tha beginning and it sounds like it goes wit tha G-Funk sound, so I’ll give it a thumbs up… Tha hook’s pretty serious, as far as tha combination of singin’, lyrics (“hurt me”) & tha beat… More from Kimm, here, on tha 2nd verse; not bad… I guess this a Kimm song, all tha way round? An okay 3rd verse, here… Neva mind, a 4th verse iz here and here you are, Tre, soundin’ like you fit this betta… My Rating: 3.7

Review #1,659: Code 6 "Let's Go Get 'Em"

Reviewed on 2.23.2017 (Review #1,659)

My next review in my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon iz Code 6 Let’s Go Get ‘Em, released in 1998 on Ice Mike Entertainment & was produced by Ice Mike! Start Time: 2:05 AM | End Time: 3:00 AM

Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

R.I.P. Video #13: Tre-8

Recorded June 14, 2011

Broadcasting from Northeast PA, it's FrankieThaLuckyDog, reporting another loss in tha Louisiana Rap community. Walter McCallon, who was known as tha rapper/producer Tre-8, was in Algiers, Louisiana, when he got into a fatal car accident on May 28, 2011. In tha car were his spouse, daughter, two nieces, and nephew; he was tha only one that failed to survive. McCallon was active in tha New Orleans, Louisiana Rap scene: being a backup dancer and learning how to produce with producer/rapper, Ice Mike; being a part of tha group Westbank Coalition in 1993; going solo to become one of tha first artists to sign with Master P's No Limit Records label, which released his 1995 "Ghetto Stories"; appearing on various compilations throughout tha South; working for South Coast Music Group; forming his own labels, Smoke 1 Records and Purple Haze Productions; and releasing music with Houston, Texas group, Dem Haze Boyz. If McCallon lived 'til July 16, he would've turned 37 years old (online sources say he already was 37, which iz FALSE; Ice Mike confirmed to me on tha phone that he died at 36).

Review #501: Code 6 "Street Power"

Reviewed on 6.10.2010 (Review #501)

Keepin’ it goin’ (shit, no, I ain’t stoppin’ @ 500!!), here’s my 501st review: Code 6 “Street Power”!! Should be REAL, REAL GR8 for dat undaground sound!!! Start Time: 8:15 PM | End Time: 8:42 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Load Up Yo Tec”
Let’s get started wit possibly a REAL GANGSTA-ASS anthem!!!!! >>> Y’all sound GR8 in tha beginning; luv how “bruh” was said twice! Ooh, back ta tha Bounce style here, lol! So far, so good… Tha 1st verse was aight but tha 2nd verse sounds pretty good wit some gangsta shit added to it, lol. Tha rest of it speaks for itself… Not much ta say…–Ooh @ 4:01 wit tha “if you like ta smoke a blunt” part! :tu My Rating: 4.3

02. Ice Mike Entertainment Ad
Oh, an “ad,” huh, lol? >>> Thumbs up fa tha “ad!” Iz he tha producer on some of these tracks? My Rating: N/A

03. “Street Power”
Let’s see this title track fa only 2:59… >>> Good start; I like how dis beat sounds. For dis length, tha 1st verse sounds kinda long… Good shit though when it comes ta what’s bein’ rapped. Tha hook sounds good fa dis; street shit! Tha 2nd verse sounds a lil’ betta here; DEFINITELY feelin’ tha content, ya dig! Endin’ it wit buku gangsta-type lyrics!!! I like tha cold ending too! My Rating: 4.5

04. “Where My Ole Lady”
Looks like a title I won’t know what ta say for a preview; let’s see what’s up… >>> Oh, a “bitch, getcha mind right” quote? Derty, you kinda stole from dis… LOL @ tha Bounce beat wit dis title!! :rofl Gotta luv how it sounds, sampled style!! LOL, are there any verses or rappin’ on dis or iz it just samples, lol? My Rating: 4.2

½time: So far, it’s soundin’ GR8; 4.3 iz tha average CD rating so far!

05. After I Kick Her Ass
ROFL, where’d dis attitude come from? >>> Sounds gr8 on tha beat (almost like an interlude) and dogs barkin’? That’s it, just dogs barkin’? It sounded good though… My Rating: N/A

06. “Make Paper”
Motivated title so let’s see what’s good wit it! >>> Bounce beat dat sounds good; sounds pretty good in tha hook too! Tha 1st verse’s rhymes are definitely tight here; y’all keepin’ it goin’ to tha fullest!! Sounds like a lotta GR8, gangsta-type chantin’ before tha 2nd verse too! Tha 2nd verse’s keepin’ this shit goin’; hot shit! Tha 3rd verse has a scene setup and it’s pretty WILD!!! My Rating: 4.7

07. “Game Rule Da World”
Let’s see here… >>> A G-Funk-type beat start here. I’m feelin’ how tha 1st verse’s rapped here; gotta feel it when it’s rapped fast! Tha content’s DEFINITELY on point and tha hook’s all about havin’ “game!” Tha 2nd verse sounds like there’s a good amount of status earned here when it comes ta tha “game you got;” most definitely! My Rating: 4.5

08. Jus’ Hollin’
Tha last joint and there’s 5:37 on tha length… Let’s see why this iz long. >>> Oh, I’m just realizin’ tha title and it looks like it gon be a shout out list? Tha beginning sounded like some rappin’ though but yea, thumbs up ta “Ice Mike” and dat good shit! Ain’t dis kinda long for a length, though, for a shout out list, lol? I don’t mind though fa y’all… I just feel dat it’s a lil’ long. My Rating: N/A

Overall: Y’all did a NICE job here; feelin’ what y’all brought to tha table!! Keep doin’ ya thang, ya dig! Hope y’all like how I came through fa y’all!!
