Review #1,691: Last Chance Records "Last Chance To Shine!"

Reviewed on 3.20.2017 (Review #1,691)

Happy 54^th day in a row of reviewin’ CDs & only six more dayz till my dream comes true!! Keepin’ it movin’ with Last Chance Records Last Chance To Shine!, released in 1998 on Last Chance Records! Start Time: 3:16 PM | End Time: 3:43 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. New Orleans Finest “How We Do”

>>> Decent lil’ beat, here, with tha rappin’ soundin’ decent, here… Sounds like a fake version of Biggie rappin’, here; I’ono… And, random singin’ on tha hook, here… My Rating: 2.7

02. Big Vin feat. Geto Mike “Get On Down”
>>> Sounds like a decent lil’ hook and a beat that sounds cool, even with a remade bassline… Hearin’ tha 1^st verse and it’s not bad, here… Decent rappin’, here, with this upbeat vibe… I have to say, this a nice collab; great job from y’all, here… My Rating: 4.2

03. Big Vin feat. Shepherd “What Ya Stat Like”
>>> Sounds cool, here, on tha hook and how y’all puttin’ it down, here… Just like tha previous track, anotha cool-soundin’ beat and vibe, here; good shit… Definitely soundin’ consistent from y’all, here! Diggin’ tha “what ya stat like” hook, as well, especially tha title! My Rating: 4.2

05. Da Ruffians “Ruffian Shine”
>>> Sounds like a decent production, here, and this group reppin’ nice, even tho it only decent… Decent rappin’ from all y’all, here; nothin’ ta really say, tho… My Rating: 3.5

06. Multiple Offenders “Shake Dat Ass”
>>> A decent effort, once again… Sounds like it can be good wit this upbeat-soundin’ beat and vibe goin’ on, here; verses decent… Tha hook’s ehh; can’t complain but it ain’t nothin’ special… My Rating: 3.6

07. Loaded – Eyes “Creep’n Out Da Cut”
>>> Decent track, once again… Beat ain’t bad and tha rappin’s straight… My Rating: 3.5

08. James Con “D.W.L.”

09. Desire Slim feat. Gita & Mik Ceaser “Don’t Ya Sleep”
>>> Diggin’ tha undaground, ‘90s vibe in tha beat, here… Rappin’ sounds a lil’ betta than tha previous tracks, here; consistent rhymes, regardless… My Rating: 3.6

10. New Orleans Finest “Project To Project”
>>> Decent; no comment… My Rating: 3.2

½time: Thought this was gon be betta but it’s just decent, fa me… Still, nice ta have a bunch of artists, here, even tho only a 3.6-rated CD, here…

11. Society A Threat “When The War Break”
>>> Decent lil’ hook wit a gangsta vibe in tha beat, here… Tha rappin’ sounds good, here; can’t complain… My Rating: 3.7

13. Arthur Nick feat. Geto Mike “So Excited”
>>> Not really into an R&B track, outta nowhere; next! My Rating: 2.1

14. Da Ruffians “Other Shit”
>>> A lil’ repetitive on tha hook but it ain’t too bad, here… Hearin’ tha rappin’ and it sounds aight, on tha rappin’… Most would call this wack but I’m just goin’ wit tha flow… My Rating: 2.8

15. Da Ruffians “What Da Deal With”
>>> Nothin’ special, here, between tha beat and tha track, overall… Tha rappin’ ain’t too bad, here… Tha hook sounds like a regular-soundin’ hook, too… My Rating: 3.0

16. Multiple Offenders “Mafiaoso”
>>> Catchy lil’ hook and beat, here… Nice job wit how y’all comin’ through wit tha rappin’, here… Consistent rappin’; finally, a betta-soundin’ joint! My Rating: 4.1

17. Arthur Nick “Playboys Have Desire”
>>> Too slow; get outta here! Not in a mood after some feelings I felt, yesterday! My Rating: 1.6

18. Big Vin “Dangerous On Entry”
>>> Decent beat; decent lil’ rappin’, here… Feelin’ tha content Big Vin bringin’ to tha table, here, as far as tha danger “on entry!” My Rating: 4.0

19. Loaded – Eyes “Money Maka”
>>> Consistent rappin’ in tha verses, here; good shit! Tha hook ain’t bad but I don’t wanna hear anything “money!” My Rating: 3.4

20. Society A Threat “Death Around New Orleans”
>>> Decent hook, here; definitely true… I just hope it ain’t true next week, tho! Hearin’ tha rhymes and they’re good, here; can’t complain… It’s all about tha content of “New Orleans” and what tha future may hold… My Rating: 3.7

Overall: Not tha best compilation but it still was nice to have a bunch of artists on here…
