Review #1,707: NHC "Respect The Game (Boot Life)"

Reviewed on 4.24.2017 (Review #1,707)

Gettin’ through tha drama, lemme try and stay focused with reviewz today… I’m only doin’ one old Louisiana CD review and tha rest will be newer shit I got from my Louisiana trip… Here goes my review for Shreveport rappers NHC, which stands for Neighborhood Conglomerate, Respect The Game (Boot Life), released in 1998 on So Sic Entertainment! Start Time: 7:00 AM | End Time: 8:22 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro
>>> Definitely feelin’ this beat, from tha swamps! Love tha dark, eerie vibe of tha beat, fa tha undaground! My Rating: N/A

02. “The Tightest”
>>> Definitely feelin’ this production, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s dope; almost sounds like a young Lil’ Wayne, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty dope wit how this flows; good shit! Time fa tha 2nd verse, here, keepin’ it “G” at all times! And, we got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ like you keepin’ it goin’, here… Not too bad of a verse; I liked tha 1st one best, tha 2nd one next & then, tha 3rd one… My Rating: 4.2

03. “Talking Shit”
>>> Sounds like a smooth lil’ southern beat, here, ta rap on… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from y’all and it’s chill wit this voice; good shit… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice ta hear, too… Not sure where I’m catchin’ tha hook but tha hook’s pretty nice when it flows through… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s pretty nice, too… Nothin’ much ta say about this decent track, here… Wow, this a long one, here… Even a 4th verse, as this continues… “Bitch, I shoulda made you bounce like a bad check;” damn! My Rating: 3.8

04. “Wide Open”
>>> Sounds like a funky jam with a catchy hook, includin’ this pitched voice… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like consistent, but decent-soundin’ rhymes, here… Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ decent wit how y’all continuin’ ta rap this shit… My Rating: 3.7

05. “Respect The Game”
>>> Anotha relaxin’, but upbeat-soundin’ beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice… Tha hook’s pretty nice; definitely a nice, feel-good dedication to tha “south,” here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and y’all keepin’ this movin’, here; good shit… Time fa tha 3rd verse, here… Pretty consistent wit these rhymes; lots of rhymin’ words…! My Rating: 3.9

06. “Parking Lot Pimpin’”
>>> Sounds like these laidback vibes are continuin’, in a West Coast, somewhat-upbeat way… Tha hook pretty nice fa tha south, here; just kick back and enjoy… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s good wit these rhymes… Tha hook sounds pretty nice ta enjoy, too; let’s keep it movin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s decent, too; feelin’ these rhymes, too… And, tha 3rd verse iz here, soundin’ decent, too; diggin’ tha slightly-different voices throughout tha track… My Rating: 3.8

07. “One Mo Time”
>>> Sounds like a better-soundin’ laidback vibe, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and tha rhymes are seductive, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds nice ta hear… Really laidback wit tha sound and content, here… Tha 2nd verse keeps this nice vibe goin’, here; nothin’ much ta say… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and I still feel tha same about this track… A long outro, here… Okay, I get it… “One mo time” wit dat “ass!” My Rating: 3.8

08. “Lifeguard”
>>> Funny how tha first few seconds of this, I thought this was a new, hyped-up, Baton Rouge-soundin’ track! Nice lil’ hook about this “lifeguard” savin’ “tha life, mane!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds nice ta hear… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice, too… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha “candy-coated” 3rd verse, here, soundin’ nice, too… My Rating: 3.9

½time: Mainly laidback vibes, here… A 3.9-rated CD; let’s keep it goin’…

09. “One 4 Da Homies”
>>> Anotha nice-soundin’ laidback vibe, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice… Tha hook’s soundin’ nice ta hear, too; can’t complain… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s nice, too; what else can I say? It’s all about tha “dream!” Tha 3rd verse sounds nice ta hear, too; definitely feelin’ tha vibe of partyin’! I like tha “doulja”-rhymed part, too; good shit! My Rating: 4.0

10. “N To Da Hood”
>>> Decent beat; hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds nice ta hear wit this slightly-eerie vibe… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds nice, too; good shit wit these “chickenhead hoes!” Listenin’ to tha 2nd verse and it sounds decent, too… Lol, “B-A-L-L-I-N-G,” before tha “N-apostrophe!” Tha 3rd verse sounds pretty consistent wit these rhymes! It seems like tha 3rd verses on this CD are tha most-consistent? My Rating: 3.9

11. “We Toke”
>>> A lil’ laidback but a lil’ upbeat, here, on tha beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds nice wit how y’all reppin’, here… Tha hook sounds dope; definitely diggin’ all tha shmokin’! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice, too; definitely a good anthem, here! Tha 3rd verse sounds pretty nice, as well; what else can I say? My Rating: 4.3

>>> Decent lil’ West Coast-soundin’ beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and y’all layin’ down y’all’s facts… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice, too; feelin’ tha West Coast sound in tha voice delivery, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, soundin’ nice ta hear, of course… Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ like a good verse, too… My Rating: 3.7

13. “Port City Strut”
>>> Sounds like anotha decent beat… Hearin’ tha hook and this “strut” makes y’all “buss a nut,” huh? Sounds like it gon be a good one, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad, here… Tha 2nd verse ain’t bad, here, as well as tha rest of this… Some of these tracks seem long but then again, y’all a group… My Rating: 3.7

14. “No Fame”
>>> Sounds good wit this laidback/upbeat beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and y’all comin’ through wit some catchy shit, here… I’ono how to describe it; it just sounds catchy/good fa tha undaground… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s nice, too; good shit… And, here comes tha 3rd verse, here, strictly reppin’ tha “Port City” to tha fullest… My Rating: 4.0

15. “High & Trippin’”
>>> I like tha beginning with how “weed iz from tha Earth;” good shit! Feelin’ this really laidback vibe, here, with how y’all deliverin’ tha consistent 1st verse on this beat… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s definitely dope; luv tha “high” feelings! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and y’all keepin’ tha “high” movin’ in tha right “rotation,” here! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ nice and laidback; gotta love it! My Rating: 4.2
