Review #1,427: Baton Rouge Music Company Presents "Respect The Music Vol. 1 (Hosted by DJ Knuckles)"

Reviewed on 1.29.2015 (Review #1,427)

Tryna make some time for some reviewz, here, before tha month ends… I’m really not tryna review anything 2015 ‘cause I need to catch up on a lotta things, so a few CDs I was issued in late 2014, I gotta get outta tha way… This one I finna review right now: Baton Rouge Music Company Presents Respect The Music Vol. 1 (Hosted by DJ Knuckles). As much as I’m excited and think it’s like a throwback to them old Baton Rouge compilation times of ’08, at tha same time, I’m a lil’ weirded out. For some reason, last year, right when I finally became a full-time worker, everyone really turned their back on me: Niggaz unfollowin’ me, niggaz blockin’ me, niggaz not sendin’ me CDs when it comes out (I know I’m real tied up, but if you said you “fuck wit me,” why I ain’t get nothin’? Tha attempt counts!). And also, Louisiana music suffered a fatal blow on February 5, 2014 when Baton Rouge producer/rapper, B-Real, blocked me from social media sites. Once that happened, not one song from Louisiana’s underground got added to my playlist, and I kept tryna force myself to fade away. It sux for y’all ‘cause there’s some pretty hot girls I work with and I can’t mention anything good from Louisiana to them ‘cause I’ve been forever-infected by B-Real’s blocking… So, if I get bitchy, I really don’t care; I’m a Shift Leader & Music Leader and speak my mind much better than before! So, without further or do, here I go… And please note, I have, like, no time for reviewz, so feel appreciated that I’m takin’ almost 80 minutes outta my time to sit down and review, right now!! Start Time: 5:32 PM | End Time: 7:22 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2015 CD Review (Review #1,427) reviewed on 1.29.2015 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. DJ Knuckles “DJ Knuckles Intro”
*Gulp…* >>> Nice intro… Oh, I thought this was Vol. 11? Must’ve been an error on tha front cover? Okay, at least I know it’s Vol. 1… Nice intro from tha phone… My Rating: N/A

02. Lil’ Boxx “Music Symbols & Dollar Signs”
Startin’ off tha compilation with a normal Baton Rouge rapper that’s never had a problem with me! I have no idea what to expect, but he did a drop, according to tha filename… >>> Nice lil’ drop from Boxx on tha intro… Oh, filename must be cut-off, so I can only go with “Music Symbols” for tha title (EDIT: Google-searched it; full title: “Music Symbols & Dollar Signs”… As far as tha beat, it’s pretty good; I has a partial Baton Rouge sound to it while tha other partial sound’s on a mainstream, southern level… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds nice to hear; great energy, as always! Even more energy on tha 1st verse; consistent rhymes at its finest! Glad he neva lost it! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice, too; gotta dig tha “ense” / “ence”-rhymin’ words! So catchy with that hook, here; gotta dig it! Though a “money” hook, I can’t bitch about this, luckily; it’s not like it’s tha cocky type that I can’t stand (“I’m gettin’ money, fuck what you think”-type shit, where they can’t even share or spend money, especially on me)! My Rating: 4.4

03. Jay Sloan “Jay Sloan Drop”
Hmm… >>> Lookin’ forward to hearin’ it; like that tha music’s in tha background on this drop… My Rating: N/A

04. Jay Sloan “100”
Dez Dynamic on tha track, here; let’s see what’s good… >>> Volume sounds kinda low… Either way, for a newbie, I’m diggin’ this; nice hook! Sounds like a white dude? Could be that new white dude to keep an eye on… Nice 1st verse with tha “100” perspectives and that hook, once again’s pretty nice! Tha 2nd verse sounds good, too… See, no braggin’ shit, here. Anyone that raps all braggin’ and raps about nothin’ but “money” and “you a pussy-ass nigga”’s usually insecure and has problems of themselves; I know tha game better now! My Rating: 3.9

05. Dark Ace “Exclusive Drop”
>>> Ooh, looked like a DJ name; ain’t expect them to have a song… My Rating: N/A

06. Dark Ace “Bottle Rocket”
Lemme hear! >>> Okay, volume’s back to normal, here; really diggin’ tha beat! Really diggin’ these new people I ain’t hear of, before, and this some great pickin’ of tracks, here! Glad I haven’t bitched once and I’m 1/5 through this disc! Definitely a nice hook with this beat; gotta jam to it! Tha 1st verse sounds pretty good; diggin’ tha energy, once again! Again, it sounds like anotha upcoming white boy, or somethin’; I’m quite impressed, outta nowhere, after preparing myself for a mess! Tha 2nd verse sounds pretty good; likin’ how tha beat changed up a lil’ bit!! Even tha 3rd verse has a beat change in tha beginning of it, too; nice! Definitely feelin’ this energy for tha undaground! My Rating: 4.2

07. South Coast Coalition “SCC Exclusive Drop”
Almost thought South Coast Coalition was completely done for when I first started talkin’ to Mista Matt back in tha beginning of ’09… >>> Well, this iz B-Rock, here; decent… My Rating: N/A

08. South Coast Coalition “Could It Be”
A new song? I dunno how high my anticipation iz, since I kinda get confused with people that just randomly disappear off tha face of tha Earth… I mean, I know I’ve been strugglin’ with keepin’ up, but ever since my Louisiana connection started back in 2007, I’ve always done at least one thing each month for Louisiana! Haven’t missed one month, yet! >>> Regardless of anything, whether these words just stay in this review only, this sounds pretty nice. I’m really likin’ tha underground, southern beat and tha hook has a catch to it of what “could… be!” Tha 1st verse sounds pretty nice; tha 2nd verse sounds pretty good, too… I like how this has an old-soundin’ vibe to it, once again… Tha 3rd verse’s pretty nice, too; “Mista Matt,” huh? Talk about an actual Throwback Thursday moment, right chea, it seems like! My Rating: 4.4

09. Alvin Ray “Alvin Ray Exclusive Drop”
Almost thought this was Ar’Jay from BluBlack’s fam… >>> Don’t think I’ll anticipate this next one, with EQ on tha beat… That “Money…” album title makes me wanna throw-up, as well! My Rating: N/A

10. Alvin Ray feat. Kevin Gates “You Don’t Love Me”
>>> I wanna say that I can’t really feel this that much; almost thought tha voice in tha background of tha drop was worse, but it’s a lil’ better than I expected… Anyway, Gates on tha 1st verse; sounds pretty good, but ain’t his prices in tha five-figga digits by now? Like, who’s this artist he’s collaborating with? Anyway, good verse collaboration… Let’s hear this 2nd verse from Alvin Ray… “I’m gettin’ doe;” no! Feelin’ tha voice and aggression in tha flow, at least… I like tha “Ghost like Casper” line, at least… “Check” to end off tha 2nd verse? Damn… I think it’s been at least three years now since I’ve even attempted to like underground rap that has “money” mentioned in tha verses… Here’s a 3rd verse from Alvin Ray… Feelin’ this faster flow; likin’ tha “plate” part with swallowin’ tha whole “plate!” This turned out way better than I thought it was gonna be; thought we were gonna have our first failed song! My Rating: 3.6

11. DJ Knuckles “DJ Knuckles Exclusive Drop”
>>> Lookin’ forward… My Rating: N/A

12. Jay Sloan feat. Mannie Fresh “Already Made”
A repeat artist on this mixtape, already, but I’m still lookin’ forward to a new Mannie Fresh production… >>> Diggin’ tha intro from Fresh and even though it’s a “money” topic, I don’t really mind it on this hook; kinda has a throwback vibe of tha late ‘00s to it… Tha 1st verse from Sloan ain’t too bad, here… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad; kinda gettin’ cocky with all this “stacked money” and shit, which can turn me off… Yeah, by tha 3rd verse, I’m really losin’ interest in this, except tha beat… My Rating: 3.4

13. Lil’ Yella “Lil’ Yella Exclusive Drop”
LOL @ “exclusive.”
>>> Lookin’ forward… My Rating: N/A

14. Lil’ Yella feat. Sycamoore Ranson & Sam I Am “Don’t Be In The Club”
Nice lineup, includin’ a newbie in tha middle, produced by Nick Dangin. Lemme see what we got goin’ on here… >>> I’m tryna get excited for this with tha intro; tryna get some excitement outta my Louisiana depression, lately… Tha beat’s pretty nice and tha hook’s got that Louisiana vibe I really like, so I should appreciate this while I can! Hearin’ tha Sycamoore person on tha 1st verse; I ain’t expect it to be a female! She sounds real consistent and great for a track/beat like this; great job! Gotta roll dat “weed” up! It’s about time I got into all dat! I mean, I ain’t have tha connections I have now! Just luv how it got to as far as a cookie; talk about wiggin’!! Tha 2nd verse from Yella sounds nice, too; gotta luv tha drug references and tha energetic vibe! See, this iz why I came to embrace Louisiana: Dat jigg, drug-related, energetic, not-depressing topics! LOL, here comes Sam I Am on tha 3rd verse; almost sounds like a familiar verse, but it ain’t… You already know he’s had tha same voice for over a decade now! Great job; these verses were shorter than I expected, too… My Rating: 4.6

15. Big Bandit “Big Bandit Exclusive Drop”
Let’s hear it! >>> Lookin’ forward! My Rating: N/A

½time: A lot better than I expected, as far as feelin’ comfortable to review this… Tha selection of mostly unknown artists, as well as tha tracks, are real nice to hear! It’s a nice attempt at resurrectin’ my interest in Louisiana music from tha undaground… With that bein’ said, a nice 4.1 for tha CD rating, currently; let’s keep it movin’!

16. Big Bandit feat. J-Byrd “Wild’n Out”
Looks nice, with Young Hits on tha beat… Kinda feel like I’m hintin’ enemy territory with tha production ‘cause I almost feel like B-Real can jump outta nowhere, so I gotta prepare! >>> This has that vibe I really like just like tha Yella song I just heard; definitely some classic-soundin’ shit, here!! Diggin’ tha beat more than tha Yella beat; great job, Hits! No guilty pleasure feelings, here! Tha hook’s real nice, too, as far as tha energy!! And then, at work, they ask, “How iz he this happy in tha morning?” Who can’t be when you been raised with tha Baton Rouge sound?! Nice job wit tha 1st verse, here!! Also, tha title’s a reference to Nick Cannon’s Wild’n Out, lol… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it literally sounds like y’all sound like tha same people, here, lol… Really diggin’ this club vibe and I hope that by tha time I finally make it to Baton Rouge that I can get to a club and get these vibes!! LOL @ “autographin’ tha titties!” Tha 3rd verse, here, and yeah, here’s Bandit (almost thought it would’ve been “J-Byrd featuring” with tha two verses, but it still cool…); definitely diggin’ it! Definitely luvin’ tha vibes, once again!! Y’all tore it up, here!! Neva get old!! I smoke, get high & and hang wit a 47-year-old chick; y’all like two decades younger, or 1.5 decades!! My Rating: 4.8

17. Alvin Ray “At Ease”
Doesn’t really look anticipatin’… >>> Caught me by surprise with this beat start… Sounds pretty good, though tha vocals are 50/50, here… Sometimes, it sounds annoying; sometimes, it sounds soft; sometimes, it sounds like it goes hard… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds pretty good; nice rhymes, without anything soundin’ played out… Tha 2nd verse sounds pretty nice with tha dedication to tha “clubs!” Overall, this turned out better than I thought it would be! Almost thought there was a 3rd verse, but it’s a nice ending with “gettin’ it in!” My Rating: 4.3

18. DeTrane “Gotta Lotta Respect Drop”
Iz that an artist name? >>> Oh, it’s you, DeTrane; oh, a classic comin’ up? Ain’t think one would be on here… My Rating: N/A

19. MC Nero “Gotta Lotta Respect”
OMG, lol, hilarious to see this on here; nice appearance! Thought I reviewed this back when I was tryna complete my delayed Louisiana Reviewz Marathon, but I ain’t, lol… This gon be a quick lil’ review ‘til I get to it, so short story soon to be long: Really nice and hyped-up sound for tha ‘90s with it jammin’ and consistent; gotta luv his chantin’! My Rating: 4.5

20. DeTrane “Rest In Peace Nu$$ie”
Good grief, why does he still gotta be brought up? No offense, but it seems like some people can’t let tha past go… Those times just remind me of not knowin’ how to get high, havin’ no car, dick-suckin’ every fuckin’ rapper from Baton Rouge and doin’ shit for free. Hahaha, those times are completely behind me, finally! If today was 2008, I would’ve been like, “Fuck you, whoever, you gimme Nu$$ie’s number!” Nobody took me seriously, back then… >>> It’s just you on tha drop. Good thing I can just press, “Skip;” Savage don’t even fuck wit me, no more. I told him I had a job and I’m not gonna be available anymore and he caught feelings. It’s like, you answered me all tha time when I was a bitchin’ bitch and now that I get high and keep myself busy without talkin’ to people, it’s just silence? Yeah, I know self-centeredness iz tha new cool; that’s why, I’m a self-centered dickhead now and just live my life by working! Also, because I’m a Shift Leader at my job, I even took time outta my busy-ass schedule to wish him a Happy Birthday through Instagram and he ain’t even read tha message. Gee, thanx? Go suck tha non-smoking Frankie’s dick, then; I’m a way better person now and niggaz ain’t followin’ me, anymore! My Rating: N/A

21. Nu$$ie feat. Lil’ Cali & Savage “They Hate My (Remix)”
Not writing anything… Hope they just shove this old rating up their ass! My Current Rating: 4.6

22. D-So Da Ghetto Hero “D-So Da Ghetto Hero Exclusive Drop”
I’m gettin’ closer to reviewin’ that new disc of his… >>> I totally agree wit him, here! Glad “dat Jigga City shit [ain’t] dead;” you already know!! Gotta luv his voice, as always, and no matter tha age, keep this shit alive! Bein’ autistic, I develop slowly, so whether or not it took ‘til 26 to frequently get high, at least I did all my Master’s Degree shit and got that outta tha way, first, before other shit came to distract me! My Rating: N/A

23. D-So feat. Sam I Am “Ain’t No Secret”
Lookin’ forward to hearin’ it! >>> Yeah, neva “dead;” tha “Jigg City” sound stays alive! However, one thing I have to disagree with: Big Scoob’s Instagram’s private; what kinda shit’s that? Artists need to have music pages again, instead of havin’ their music name and havin’ shit private! It’s like, did they give up? Anyway, beat’s real nice, here, fa this vibe and tha hook’s nice! Gotta keep this shit alive! Here’s D-So on tha 1st verse and it sounds pretty nice; great, ageless voice ta hold this down! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice, too; keep it goin’, bruh!! Of course, once again, gotta luv tha hook! “Blowin’ loud;” all day!! Get ta smoke wit tha chicks, now! And, here’s Sam on tha 3rd verse; glad y’all keepin’ dis Jiggalaters shit alive! Gotta always be connected and neva separated from makin’ music! Of course, great aggression and jigg’d up, as always!! My Rating: 4.6

24. DeTrane feat. Target & Mashes “Like This, Like That”
No artist listed? Kinda scared to listen, lol? I betta go take a shit, first! *Shits at 6:39 PM…* *Completes shittin’ at 6:44 PM…* Aight, lemme see, here… >>> Nice beat start to get you hyped up… You on tha 1st verse? It iz; okay, no fear, luckily… Tha volume sounds quieter, but tha hook sounds pretty nice with these females helpin’ you out! Glad to hear you rappin’ once again, with tha 1st verse! It sounds pretty good, here… LOL, “no masturbate?” Random that you mentioned it ‘cause I was thinkin’ of a review from seven years ago I did, where I had a “masturbate” intermission. It’s ironic ‘cause I had tha “shittin’” intermission, here… Anyway, nice job, here! Tha 2nd verse sounds nice, here, from this Target person; not like tha store, lol? It sounds pretty good, here; regular white boy rap, here, with tha flow and sound… Tha female on tha 3rd verse, here (Mashes?)… It sounds nice, although a lil’ quiet with tha whole track’s sound, overall? I’m diggin’ her sexual shit; nice collab! LOL @ tha ending, between you and tha chick with tha “Girl, I like…” / “Boy, I like…;” nice! My Rating: 4.2

Note: #25’s removed from this review and iz not bein’ reviewed due to tha artist’s name iz search-friendly online, and can read any feedback given. Therefore, there’s no need for any feedback, whatsoever.

Now, in 2015, with my now-working, self-centered ass, I prolly wouldn’t mind any kinda feedback I give. However, after randomly bein’ called “gay” a few years ago in a freestyle (all ‘cause I got deleted for puttin’ them on tha radio? Really…?), I don’t think I should let any doors open, again. I mean, maybe, in tha future, just to see where I’m at now and that I get high, but for now, no… Also, recently, I had a friend whose mom’s a lesbian, so any kinda homophobia references I don’t take lightly… And, over tha past four years, I’ve never come clean about skipping and not typing anything with this artist. However, it’s basically ‘cause it would’ve been search-friendly online, typing his name… With that bein’ said, it’s easier to ignore than to show luv to… I know I’m a Shift Leader and all that, but really, there’s no need for tha name-bashing!

26. Lil’ Witness feat. One-i “If I Die”
This should be somethin’ good to hear!! >>> Sounds good with tha beat and Witness, though tha hook gives me weird feelings with Witness singin’ this one… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and tha lyrics are real nice for Witness; gotta feel ‘em. Tha 2nd verse from One-i’s good, too. Other than tha hook kinda givin’ me weird feelings with tha “die” and tha singin’, it a good track, overall. Also gotta add that I always wonder “if I die.” Like, at my job, they value me! Could you imagine them closin’ tha store if I died? But, with Louisiana, I’ll be remembered as a legend, though alive at tha moment, I don’t feel tha value… My Rating: 4.0

27. Carolinah Blue “Rep For”
I don’t think he anything special, if I recall… >>> Anotha surprise for tha beginning of an unexpectedly hot track! Nice beat and this dude sounds nice on tha hook; feelin’ tha vibe… I almost thought he was an auto-tune addict or somethin’ a few years ago… Anyway, tha 1st verse’s great; diggin’ his energy and consistent rhymin’ ova this beat… Props fa reppin’ “for” dat good shit on tha hook, especially “Baton Rouge, Louisiana!” Tha 2nd verse’s pretty-good, too; keep it goin’! At 2:39, it’s just tha beat; really, a 1:13 beat outro? Thought I would’ve gotten a 3rd verse outta this… Right at tha end: J.Scalez beat tag; nice beat! My Rating: 4.1

28. T Carr feat. Alvin Ray “Hard”
Lemme see if this go “hard” or not… >>> Sounds like it does, on a jigg tip! Just shoutin’ out my manager’s name in my head with “tastic,” once I hear tha beginning beat!! “Trally Boy,” too? Hmm… Definitely diggin’ tha 1st verse and tha beat, here; great-soundin’, energetic beat with tha shit that’s goin’ on, here! Oh, I had to google it and Trally Boy changed his name to “T Carr,” here; interesting… I do like tha “Trally Boy” name better, though… Anyway, great job with tha both of y’all on tha 1st verse; dumb shit! And yeah, “I go hard on every verse;” definitely co-signed by ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog!! Nice job with tha promotion, BRMC a.k.a. Baton Rouge Music Company a.k.a. DeTrane!! Hearin’ y’all both on tha 2nd verse and this iz pretty nice; I’m definitely feelin’ this! Could this be my top-rated track on this mixtape? We shall see! Definitely a close one; luv how they saved tha best for tha end! Also, when they say, “I go hard on every verse,” on tha hook, it almost sounds like a Master P voice, a lil’, lol… I wish I could get that B-Real venom outta me and get back to addin’ good shit like this to my playlist! I could only imagine what this shit sounds like while high? Kevin Gates like tha only person that I’ve heard from Louisiana while high… And, that’s mainly ‘cause he mainstream, now, so I don’t have to bend over backwards for an underground add… My Rating: 4.7

29. MC Really Real “MC Really Real Drop”
Could it be our Nero? >>> Oh yea? Yeah, I believe this him, from “New Orleans,” accordin’ to him? My Rating: N/A

30. MC Really Real “Don’t Know Me”
Or, maybe not, lol? Seems like a nice throwback with tha name, but a new joint, here, to wrap up this mixtape; lemme hear… >>> Sounds pretty nice to end this off! Thought this was gon sound like some New Orleans gangsta shit with a bounce vibe, but it’s like that Baton Rouge gangsta sound, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice; definitely diggin’ tha aggression in tha voice! Tha 1st verse’s nice, too; nice and undaground at its finest! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice with this “baseball game”-themed beginning of tha verse; good shit! Didn’t expect this to be over five minutes long but it’s still good to hear… Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad, but prolly could’ve been better if there were only two verses here ‘cause it’s kinda long… My Rating: 4.2

Overall: So, 80 minutes turned into 110 minutes, due to I attempted to have anticipation for this mixtape and not rush it. And, it was a success! Definitely a real-nice job, here, DeTrane; didn’t expect all tha unknown artists, especially during a time like this! A lotta great production and that great aggression, energy, and jigg-related shit that I always look for! I know our consistency with our mixtapes aren’t there anymore (as I had my final issue, Tha Louisiana Archives Vol. 17, last March, dayz before I started my job), but we can still put out a product that gets appreciated—well, you get appreciated and I don’t. As I’m still that big ‘myth’ in everyone in Louisiana’s minds, my fairytale time may be up soon… Who knows, I could be closer to gettin’ to Louisiana… It may happen one year, comin’ up; be prepared! We’re gettin’ closer!

Review #1,342: Big Blaze "2nd Shot Promo"

A Bloc Munstarz (I think I got tha right label) release, here… Big Blaze 2nd Shot Promo iz what I finna review, right now! I’m sure this’ll be great, in its own lane!! It came out last year; I’m not sure why I missed it? Start Time: 8:59 PM | End Time: 9:52 PM

If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it! After I was robbed by an artist who claimed they “get money,” hearin’ about how much you “got money” and anything “money” really bothers me. If you have not done business wit me before, I won’t tolerate “money” talk in tha music!!

01. Intro (DJ Rob Xclusive)
>>> I feel real anticipated wit this Blaze beat in tha background! Blaze, you’re real talented!! Always stay in tha undaground!! My Rating: N/A

02. “Call Tha Ambulance” Feat. Cash Flow & Trilla Trill
!-to-tha-!-to-tha-!! >>> I thought this would be more hyper, but it’s you in your lane, all tha way!! Just luv how you come through wit your voice and tha undaground-soundin’ beat!!! Nice job wit you on tha 1st verse, Blaze, strictly havin’ fun wit a title like this!! Here comes tha 2nd verse (Cash Flow), comin’ through wit a lil’ more hyperness in tha voice! Tryna re-inact “September 11” wit how he comin’ through; gotta feel how he anticipates a fight! Got Trilla Trill on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit nice shit. Of course, I’m crazy about Gunplay right now, so I can appreciate tha gunplay-like lyrics he spittin’! Consistency wit tha delivered rhymes, all tha way to tha cold ending!! My Rating: 4.7

03. “Say That Then”
Ooh…? >>> Wow, gritty voice from you, here!! Reminds me of tha early 2000s southern music I grew up on, wit how this sounds, overall!! Hook sounds nice, too! Keepin’ this shit goin’ wit tha 2nd verse; luv tha “need ta see ID” part and its consistent flow!! Yea, keep saggin’ ya “pants so low;” neva abide to stereotypes, feelin’ aged & laws! I’m only a ½ decade younger than you, and I grow at a slow pace! Wow, 3rd verse comin’ through wit dat hoarse voice!!! Ribbit, ribbit, rofl? Keep it goin’!!! My Rating: 4.6

04. “Now That I’m On” Feat. Trilla Trill & Cash Flow
>>> Really feelin’ tha beat start!! Catchy song; feelin’ tha hook! A “helicopter” start wit tha 1st verse, wit Trill comin’ through wit dat coptin’ sound! He on tha “interstate” and err-thang! Cash Flow countin’ “paypa” on tha 2nd verse, here; nice flow on tha beat! Let’s see what you got goin’ on wit tha 3rd verse, Blaze… Okay, in tha fuckin’ mode, here; that’s big for a big dude like you, right? #bigmoments My Rating: 4.0

05. “We ‘Bout 2 Ack” Feat. Trayne & Teflon Da Terrabull
Wow @ tha name changes? No more “Young” for Trayne & Teflon, who was a Pit, turns into a Terrabull!! >>> Feelin’ tha dark, undaground feelin’ of tha streetz, here! “Raggedy ratchet!” Feelin’ how you anticipatin’ how you wanna do someone in throughout tha 1st verse, Blaze! Yea, time ta “ack a ass” on tha hook; feelin’ it! Trayne on tha 2nd verse? Sounds nice; consistent shit! Sounds like he makes tha 225 enlight, like it neva gets old!! I hope that’s tha case ‘cause I’m six years into my Louisiana connection, still havin’ trouble findin’ tha person to go with me to visit Louisiana, for tha 1st time! Yea, Teflon on tha 3rd verse (wow, Trayne’s voice iz less-deep); great shit, here! My Rating: 4.4

06. “Really Ill”
>>> Sounds nice, so far; nothin’ much to say, but good 1st verse, so far! Ooh @ 1:03, where you start rappin’ fast! I like how that came outta nowhere! Tha 2nd verse sounds good, too! And, tha 3rd verse, too! I think with tha hook, it comes outta nowhere, so everything blends in together! Feelin’ that “I’m stoppin’ flow like traffic lights” shit near tha end, too! You even said it twice! My Rating: 4.1

07. “TKO” Feat. Yella & Lil’ Buddy
Yella = Lil’ Yella? Did we lose a “Lil’”, this time? >>> Hearin’ tha old beat tag from Big Wayne, this must be an old beat (of course, tha pattern—normal times (before tha threatening)! I gotta get tha years from you so I can log everything, since I’m backin’ up my files that I got from this year! And, that Yella = Yella Yella (tha one wit JokaBoi), I assume. Anyway, nice job wit tha hook and 1st verse; it’s all about tha crazy vibe!! Tha 2nd verse nice, too! A Lil’ Buddy verse on tha 3rd verse… Of course, tha old dayz wit those great voices, deep within tha 225! Tha crazy shit continues wit tha 4th verse, too, combining both Yella & Lil’ Buddy on tha verse! Whoo!! Got you also, Big Blaze!! My Rating: 4.6

08. “Money Talks” Feat. Jay Da Talent
>>> Sounds like a black Paul Wall at first, here… This ain’t bad; tha beat’s nice and undaground ta hold y’all down! Tha 2nd verse nice, too; good shit! My Rating: 4.2

½time: Wow, ½way through, already? Nice and consistent lil’ CD, so far! Of course, you got shit goin’ on wit your great, undaground productions and features!! Keep this shit up: 4.4 for tha CD rating, currently!

09. “Y’all Pussy” Feat. Hatch Boy & Big Bandit
Looks like a great collab! >>> “Goodies” beat? Oh, at least it rewinded! Oh wait, it’s not a joke; damn. Ehh, I dunno; at least tha vibe’s here… I know this 2004 or somethin’. Tha 1st verse’s nice and tha hook’s good, too, but more of a borderline guilty pleasure, for me, due to tha beat. Hearin’ Hatch on tha 2nd verse, and he sounds good/consistent, as always! A bad Bandit on tha 3rd verse, here, “not givin’ a fuck” if “your momma cryin’!” Nice verses, but c’mon, no mixtape beats! #blushes My Rating: 3.8

10. “Haterblockers” Feat. N.I.P., Bengie B, Gangsta, Lady Lex, Co. G & Suge
Wow, got tha “Out My Socks” dudes as a part of tha feature! Glad to see them back—or, this might be a lil’ older than I think it iz? Either way, I’m anticipated!! >>> Yea, this gotta be older wit tha sound, as well as #7 & #9 givin’ tha #TBT vibe away! But, once again, N.I.P. delivers anotha classic-soundin’ hook! It’s just how he comes through on tha hook and beat, together! Also, he sounds great on tha 1st verse, here; glad he always feelin’ fucked-up, just havin’ tha best of tha best times! Got you on tha 2nd ½ of tha 1st verse, here, comin’ through wit a good vibe! Yea, “pop ‘em two by two!” Gotta luv how that’s how you “pop” tha pillz, as well as tha “haterz!” Bengie on tha 2nd verse? I’m goin’ by tha order of tha features, here… Ehh, it’s an okay verse. This Gangsta on tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse? Definitely feelin’ tha verse!! Those old vibes before everyone wanted to make tha ‘same,’ mainstream-soundin’, shyin’-away-from-Baton-Rouge’s-classic-soundin’-vibe!! Oh wait, that sounds like Gangsta on tha 3rd part of tha 2nd verse; great shit!! Wait, who this on tha 4th part? LOL, I’m so confused, but I’m lovin’ all tha features all over tha place!! Reminds me of tha old dayz of 2008 wit tha reviewz, where I had no clue who was who!! And, who’s this on tha 5th part, lol? Everything’s nice!! My Rating: 4.4

11. “Heaters” Feat. Trally Boy
Nice collab, again! >>> Nice beginning!! I like how you comin’ through on tha 1st verse, strictly havin’ haterz on your “nutsack!” That’s what’s up! This beat sounds like I’ve heard it before, but I don’t think it’s jacked…; or iz it? Seems so long ago to remember… Nice collaboration wit Trally, just spittin’ rhymes like a Max Minelli! Oh wait, it iz a slower-pitched version of “9mm;” I figured! I couldn’t even tell, at first! Speakin’ of that title, this January 23’ll mark six years since I had one to me! Think: I could’ve died, and only had three months of a Louisiana connection, knowin’ very few—and, like, none from Baton Rouge! My Rating: 4.3

12. “Put Yo Hood Up” Feat. Teflon Da Terrabull & C-IV
½ great feature, but ½ not thankin’ me for my awards! >>> This a familiar beat, too (T-Bo used it or somethin’); it’s all good, here, so let’s see how tha rhymes go… Nice shit from Teflon on tha 1st verse; can feel how much he anticipates B.A.N.s to come to him!! Nice hook wit puttin’ ya “number up;” kinda was like tha pre-“Put Your Numbers Up” (BluBlack & Pezie) joint? That’s what it reminds me of… Nice shit wit tha 2nd verse, too! Wow, since this iz you on tha 3rd verse, if that was C-IV on tha 2nd verse and/or hook, wow, it sounds good, and caught me off-guard! I almost was gonna say nothin’, but I couldn’t tell! This must’ve been back when he’d thank people for things! Anyway, here’s you on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit faster-soundin’ rhymes; definitely on-n-poppin’!! And, 32 seconds of silence at tha end…; not on-n-poppin’! My Rating: 4.3

13. “Tats & Golds”
Nice title! This year, you entered a new decade, too! >>> October 6, 2007 was, like, tha only day I saw “golds;” I hope to see more in tha future! I like how you hinted Brisco, as you were like, “I see you was lookin’ fa me.” Nice shit you got goin’ on wit tha 1st verse; sounds like regular rappin’, but tha production holds it down! Tha 2nd verse sounds good, too; do you eva run outta breath, lol? Nice shit!! My Rating: 4.5

14. “Go Hard” Feat. Da Hustlaz
Lookin’ forward to tha feature! >>> A rock-soundin’ beat start, here; iz this tha “Party Like A Rockstar” dayz, lol? Ooh @ tha hook, as you “go harrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd, all night long!!” Great delivery!! Here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit anotha anticipated fight! “Party from dusk! We party from dusk; all tha way ‘til dawn! All tha way ‘til dawn!” Gotta luv it! Here you are on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through like a drug virgin (“don’t smoke, don’t pop”)? That was me durin’ tha early dayz of my Louisiana connection, though I neva popped… Keepin’ tha Blaze vibe goin’ wit Da Hustlaz on tha 3rd verse! My Rating: 4.5

15. “Got It Made” Feat. $hizz
Bad anticipation for tha feature/song. You know I can’t comment on tha feature; I might still not get a job if people read feedback on someone who can’t take constructive criticism, smh! It just happened with one of my classmates’ shitty review, tha otha day! >>> A Young Hits production, here, but why tha fade-in intro? Low anticipation fa this… Yuck @ tha beginning; I made sure I paid attention to tha beginning, this time, and skipped it! Though I’m not a fan of “money” songs, at least this sounds old (way before I got robbed a ½ a stack by a BR dude), and it sounds like you got a lotta different kinds of “money” on tha 2nd verse! Damn, not tha 3rd verse, too? This was, like, a 50-second review or somethin’, smh… My Rating: 3.7

16. “I Betcha”
LOL, seems like this always appears on CDs! My Current Rating: 4.8

Overall: Wow, great CD!! Almost five stars, except tha jacked “Goodies” and $h(ater)izz—who likes auto-tune—got in tha way… But, very great, consistent CD!! Keep ‘em up!! Always stay loyal to tha 225 sound, your features, and tha production!!

Review #168: BluBlack "Gotta Get It One Way Mixtape Vol. 1"

Reviewed on 1.18.2009 (Review No. 168)

Man, what’s good? This ya boy FrankieThaLuckyDog, tha one who be doin’ tha MOST, and tha BEST, for tha music business, ya dig. I just got done counting down my 9th annual year-end countdown, tha top 800 songs of 2008! That shit took 71 hours and 16 minutes to count down, as well as a couple of dayz to rank each song from 1 to No. 800. Results’ll be online soon, as I’m workin’ on makin’ it into Youtube video clips. Speaking of which, Blu Black did land on it at No. 251 wit his only appearance, wit Down Bad, “Out Da Box.” I played it 41 times in 2008, and you can expect a WHOLE LOT more of Blu Black on 2009’s year-end countdown, when I count it down in January 2010! He sure gon win some **CERTIFIED CLASSIC** awards from me (havin’ at least 100 spins wit me), and maybe even win some other awards that have to do wit how great he/his CDs are! Now that I’m back in action here, I finna get into this mixtape that his manager sent me. It’s tha “Gotta Get It One Way Mixtape Vol. 1” mixtape, and it’s hosted by DJ Bootsie. Ya gotta love tha way tha manager led me into tha CD when he was gonna send it to me. He was like, “On this mixtape, there’s only ONE SONG from tha Code Blu CD, and all tha songs are all original beats.” And when he told me that, I was like, “That’s tha CORRECT formula when it comes to anticipating/pleasin’ me wit some music, ya dig.” So now, here goes my review for BluBlack “Gotta Get It One Way Mixtape Vol. 1”! It’s tha 2nd review I’m doin’ of 2009, and tha 1st Rap one, so thumbs up to Blu on that! Happy birthday, and R.I.P., to my grandpa, who iz my rappin’ grandma’s dad. Anything I do (like this review) I feel that’s on his birthday iz considered lucky in my opinion. Start Time: 6:26 PM | Video Game Playing: The Legend Of Zelda – Ocarina Of Time (for Nintendo 64) (on my computer)

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2009 CD Review (Review #168) reviewed on 1.18.2009 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. Intro
Tha “Code Blu” CD didn’t really have an actual intro (since it was tha beginning on tha “Retardid” joint). REALLY lookin’ forward to hearin’ how tha intro gon sound!! >>> What exactly iz “that lane?” Not tha “Hood Song,” but what exactly iz it? Beat sounds REAL GOOD in this intro!! There’s still another 59 seconds left in this intro… A lot of talkin’ goin’ on here, but tha dude on tha intro sounds cool. So, now that he said, “G-Lane, South Baton Rouge,” iz that tha “lane”? Pretty nice intro here, and I’m lookin’ forward to hearin’ more of what DJ Bootsie has in stock for hosting and all that good shit, ya heard me. My Rating: N/A

02. “Who Dat Is” Feat. Toke, Ace & Butla
That title reminds me of tha 2nd verse of “Retardid,” when you start it off wit, “Who dat iz… It’s me, Blu Black.” I have tha inside of tha CD on tha ground, so tha writing of who’s featured on it iz kinda small, so I’m gonna lean over my chair, and see who’s featured on this right here… *checks* Okay, good thing it’s 3 newbies for me (anybody else on tha “Code Blu” CD, excluding any Down Bad members, don’t count ‘cause I didn’t know who they were at tha time). Really lookin’ forward to hearin’ this right chea!!! >>> Glad to hear you on more shit, Blu! Pretty catchy hook on here. Tha beat reminds me of some earlier 2000s shit that I would really like, compared to tha wack-ass mainstream shit that’s out now. That 1st verse from you was DEFINITELY nice; I REALLY liked tha end of tha verse, where it went quiet for 2 seconds! That reminded me of Paul Van Dyk Feat. Lo-Fi Sugar “Haunted” when it goes quiet for 2-3 seconds after tha choruses. Tha 2nd verse on this shit iz definitely nice! That must be Toke on tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse ‘cause he defined an acronym of his name. That “10 degrees below 0” part about his chain can apply to tha weather here in Northeast PA; it was what, -2 degrees this morning (or tha other morning). Tha 3rd verse (wit both parts in it) iz soundin’ great!! I believe that’s Butla on tha 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse ‘cause he said his name. I like tha “purple kush…” part on his part; great shit. I didn’t realize that you were on tha hook, Blu. I thought that was one of tha featured people ‘cause there’s 3 of ‘em, but yeah, REAL catchy hook on this, and this iz DEFINITELY watz good! My Rating: 4.4

UPDATE: Forgot to mention that I got a poster of you hangin’ up on my door. Your manager sent me this big one, along wit a smaller one. I didn’t do anything wit tha smaller one yet, but I might put it in tha box I finna have wit all tha Louisiana CDs I get.

03. “Serve Her” Feat. Ace
This should be anotha catchy/fire tune; lookin’ forward to hearin’!! >>> Yup, pretty catchy start. That’s cool that you gon break tha girl’s virginity. Nice 1st verse from you here. Hearin’ Ace on tha 2nd verse, and I’m definitely lookin’ forward to hearin’ him…! Yeah, “Blu Black on tha track;” who else would make these TIGHT beats for these jointz? Tha 2nd verse was DEFINITELY energetic and GREAT for a song like this; good job guys. My Rating: 4.1

04. “Left, Right”
Glad to hear just you on a track, even though it only 2:56… Hope you come correct for me on this shit! >>> What’s wit tha, “welcome to Code Blu,” intro? Hook iz pretty catchy, but sounds like “Get In There” from your “Code Blu” CD (wit those “get it up” parts)… I don’t think they’re tha same song, as this has a different beat. Not bad for a start, even though it ain’t too exciting for me… Way too mainstreamish of a sound on this… Okay, a lil’ too repetitive wit tha “jigg it in tha middle” parts. Too short, and a waste of 3 minutes for me. My Rating: 2.6

05. “Beat It Up” Feat. Kidd
This better be good… >>> Decent start… What’s wit tha female songs again? Typical song/1st verse… Kid did better on this. Not bad song, but a bad/boring Louisiana type of song, sorry. My Rating: 2.9

06. Skit
I thought I needed a recovery from bein’ pissed off in Zelda (tha game I’m playin’). Let’s hear what you got to say… Ooh, it’s 1:16, so this’ll be good! You know I was DYIN’ to hear skits on tha “Code Blu” CD! >>> I was gonna say, “music in tha background?” I thought it was gonna be you, but it’s Bootsie. As for what Bootsie said, I did go to http://www.blublack225.com to buy tha “Code Blu” CD. And as far as your Myspace Blu Black, I didn’t go there, you found me, so that’s what’s good. I’m glad you got me in your top friends as well (I gon keep you in mine, since I’m workin’ wit you, ya dig). My Rating: N/A

07. “Stunt On ‘Em” Feat. Cage & Big World
Looks like a lot of anticipation here… 4:45 on tha length, No. 7, Cage of Down Bad on here, as well as a Big World dude. Damn, I betta go get a drink and come back in 60 seconds ‘cause I feel that this shit gon get “retardid!!” *Goes and gets a drink* Up, not 60, but I was gone for 55 seconds. Let’s hear this shit! >>> I thought it was gonna be more up-tempo/retarded… Tha hook iz a good one, and this sounds pretty good so far. That 1st verse iz pretty nice. Tha “clothes from ‘91” part sounded pretty catchy. I’m hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse… Soundin’ good, but please drop tha “out da box” quote, as well as (not sure if it’s gonna be said on here) “2008 shit…” part in tha beginning. Big World on tha 3rd verse? I didn’t expect Cage to be up 1st? Damn, what happened to tha anticipation? Not bad on tha 3rd verse, as he did a pretty nice job. I’m gonna need to get happier for better ratings after No. 4 and No. 5. My Rating: 3.7

08. “Dey Mad” Feat. Needy Nee, Beezy Brd & Butla
Even longer (4:51 on tha length), so it has to be even better! Looks like this could be a better song wit that title! >>> Not sure if that’s a guy or girl on tha hook, but it’s pretty good. I think that same person iz on tha 1st verse… Pretty gutta verse right there. Tha 2nd verse sounded pretty good, but why iz there always like a 2nd ½? It confuses tha shit outta me… That dude on tha 2nd ½, whoever he iz, did a pretty nice job too. Your 3rd verse was pretty nice; I can’t say anything about it though. I’m a lil’ aggravated, so that’s a lil’ unlucky for you, but whatever. My Rating: 3.5

09. “Get Money” Feat. Butla & Toke
Again, features? I don’t know about this… Betta not be a bullshit song… >>> Okay, feelin’ this one better; like that slow voice on tha hook. Hearin’ tha 1st verse now… Pretty good. Hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse… Tha more I lose in tha video game I’m playin’, tha much greater chances of lower ratings… Your verse was pretty catchy wit tha “gettin’ head” part, which included money. Let’s hear tht 3rd verse… That’s cool that, “Ben iz his king.” Tha beat iz pretty cool on this too. My Rating: 3.8

10. “Who Me”
No features this time… *Takes a few minutes break to calm down* Shit, I fuckin’ finally defeated tha boss! What a fuckin’ pain in tha ass! And wit The Prodigy “Smack My Bitch Up” comin’ on Music Choice Electronica (it hasn’t been played on there in like years), tha anger DEFINITELY applied to defeat tha boss, so now, it’s about time I finna get back into this mixtape! 3:48 on tha length can be good… >>> Nice that there’s a beat start… NOOOO!!! “2008 shit;” discard it!! Sounds good wit tha “I got tha game like a PS2…” part. Shit, tha “out da box” thing too… Didn’t like that I heard tha “this ya boy, Blu Black” in tha hook… What, again it happened? Tha hook iz pretty catchy here, but still not pleasing enough to get me back in tha mood… I like tha “got tha pills” part at 1:55, but tha verses seem kinda short for me to go on wit. Shit, that “this ya boy” thing again… I’m gonna keep complainin’ about it… It’s bad enough that it appears twice in tha hook. Another short, 3rd verse… Glad tha last hook didn’t have tha “this ya boy” shit. I liked that lil’ acapella part that was right before tha beat ending. That fuckin’ “this ya boy” thing again… My Rating: 3.7

½time: Way below my expectations… “Code Blu” was A LOT better!! But, I can’t stop here; got 11 more to go. I finna call your manager and let him get an update on how I’m doin’ on this… *Calls* LOL @ tha no answer… Well, I guess I finna get back to this quicker than I expected.

11. Skit
Oh yeah, there’s a skit (I remember tha short length on my computer for this one). It’s 41 seconds, so let’s see who says what… I predict it bein’ my boy DJ Bootsie… >>> Yeah, my fuckin’ boy Bootsie! Shit, that fuckin’ “this ya boy” still goin’ in tha background from that other beat… Yeah, “225 forever;” that’s REALLY watz good! Baton Rouge music LIVES in my blood and I’m poisoned (in a good way) from it!! Great skit that put me in a better mood. My Rating: N/A

12. “Gotta Get It One Way”
Tha title track… I wonder what you gon spit… Tha jointz keep gettin’ longer, as this one’s 4:56… >>> Cool beat for this one. Doesn’t exactly sound like you on this… Was this recorded differently, or was it recorded a while ago? I guess I’ll give a plus to tha 1st verse. That hook ain’t that bad… Good start to tha 2nd verse wit tha “my mind cold/temperature…” part. Oh, tha elements continue as you said “call me rice-a-roni (sp?) ‘cause I’m boilin’ out tha pot;” nice consistent elements goin’ on here. Nice “pill money” topic too. I don’t really “catch chills,” whether I’m hearin’ your verses; I catch anticipation. I’m hearin’ tha 3rd verse now… I like what’s bein’ said here, especially tha “head fulla dreads” part; nice shit here. My Rating: 3.9

13. “I Like Dat” Feat. Butla & Young True
Betta not be another typical sounding type of song… I’m gettin’ real tired right now… >>> Too much in tha beginning wit tha “it’s ya boy” and tha “get it up” type of shit that I’ve heard… Anotha typical song; boo, hoo… I can tell from that hook, even though this iz a lil’ better. I like how you’re goin’ wit tha beat (wit tha “dunn, dunn, da-da-dunn” part). LOL @ tha “dick/condum” part… Butla doin’ a good job on his verse. That fastness on tha 2nd ½ of his part was just real nice to hear. Hearin’ True on tha 3rd verse… He’s got a good voice for this Rap shit. I like tha “2 midgets posted up…” part; that was a nice part. Wow, he even said somethin’ about Long Island. Thanx for him puttin’ Long Island in his verse ‘cause that’s where I’m originally from (Long Island, NY). Damn, I can’t just finish typing… I gotta wait for tha whole song to end ‘cause I still have to say shit. That “it’s ya boy, Blu Black” thing has to go!! My Rating: 3.6

14. “Vibes 2.0” Feat. Yung Yola
I wonder what this gon sound like. I also wonder how that dude on tha feature gon sound… >>> Tha fuckin’ “it’s ya boy” thing in tha beginning. That no music in tha beginning got me wonderin’ for a sec, but I was just about to stop this joint (‘cause I thought it was that “Out My Body” joint wit tha “out my body” parts in tha hook), but, I’m hearin’ tha title in tha hook, so I can tell it’s a different song. Yung Yola soundin’ REAL GOOD on his shit! DEFINITELY feelin’ his attitude in his voice/flow/rappin’/verse. He did his thang on tha 1st verse, and that hook iz DEFINITELY tha shit; great beat too! Now, THIS IZ HOW YOU COME BACK! After so many songs, tha mixtape revives!! A lil’ “Retardid” jackin’ in your verse, Blu Black. On tha 2nd verse, you’re sayin’ tha “??? Lane… hurricane… feel tha pain…” part. Tha verse was pretty nice too. This iz tha repetitive hook you need to stick to on this CD! This was a nice track right here! My Rating: 4.5

15. “Bootie Jigg” Feat. Big World & Supa
That dude Supa iz a character! I’m REALLY lookin’ forward to hearin’ what he gon spit on this shit! Oh, and how odd, to match wit this title, tha song that came on Music Choice Hitlist just now, tha 2nd time I heard it on there, was Filly “Sweat (The Drip Drop Song)”. “Tha fever starts to flow when tha clothes start slippin’.” That line in that song HAS to apply to this joint! I have a feelin’ this one ain’t gon fail! It has to have tha right formula! >>> First 5 seconds were kinda quiet, but it’s pickin’ up… Tha fuckin’ “it’s ya boy” thing came up again. I’m hearin’ you, and then Supa on tha hook, and it sounded REAL nice to hear him! That sounds like Big World on tha 1st verse… Tha beat sounds pretty nice, and this iz a better female song; I knew it wasn’t gonna fail. Tha 1st verse was kinda short. That hook iz pretty nice. Now, it’s you on tha 2nd verse… C’mon, no complaints here, right? Good, nothin’ for me to complain so far. Tha “take them panties off” line goes PERFECT wit that Filly quote I just quoted from that song! Tha “clothes are slippin’!” Nice 2nd verse from you; glad there were no complaints! C’mon, I HOPE Supa iz on tha 3rd verse… YES, he iz!! I like how he holds tha notes on his words (like he’s singin’ ‘em a lil’). He’s pretty famous for his “uh huhhhh” part. LOL @ tha “I don’t give a F,” and then went into “u-c-k.” Short 3rd verse, but he caught my attention on this; good shit right here! Damn, I just keep typing and typing and typin’ without even goin’ back to playin’ my video game that much! Shit, tha “it’s ya boy” thing again @ 3:21. You don’t see Savage havin’ “you hear tha way…Savage track to pieces” throughout tha song multiple times. I’m glad I don’t do that shit in my songs. My Rating: 4.3

16. “Jiggin’ 2 Da Bells” Feat. Kidd
Let’s keep this HOT SHIT comin’ along! Last time, tha No. 16 song on your “Code Blu” CD was “On Dem Pillz.” I know that gon be 10,000x better, but let’s hear what this joint has to offer… >>> Another quiet/curious intro as for 12 seconds, there was no beat. It sounded pretty good/anticipating in tha beginning until you jacked tha D4L song “Bet’cha Can’t Do It Like Me” in tha hook; WTF @ that?!? Your 1st verse was pretty nice. Tha 1st ½ of tha hook iz nice wit tha “jiggin’ 2 da beat/hearin’ bells,” but it just gets bad wit tha D4L jackin’… Hearin’ Kid on tha 2nd verse… I’m likin’ tha “slangin’” part. He sounds like he DEFINITELY doin’ his thang wit his verse on this shit! Looks like I’m REALLY likin’ his verse!! Tha “scoop you wit tha shovel” part was nice to hear. Damn, he just keeps goin’! FUCKIN’ LOVE Kid’s verse on this shit! Keep spittin’… Oh shit, his verse fuckin’ ended. Bad “get it up” jackin’ before tha hook ended. I mean, I like that “Get In There” joint you did wit tha “get it up” parts, but there’s no need to repeat it. Have to give props to Kid’s verse, tha 1st ½ of tha hook, tha beat, and a BIG thumbs down to that 2nd ½ of tha hook! My Rating: 4.2

17. “Want Beef” Feat. Big #’s
I had to turn tha featured artist’s name into “No.” to represent for “numbers” ‘cause on Myspace, tha number symbol doesn’t come out for some reason. Anyway, I looked at tha length (1:32) and I thought it was gonna be another skit. Let’s hear how quick this one’ll go… >>> Tha beat started off pretty cool, and then had some NICE kicks before tha hook (and no “it’s ya boy” bullshit)! Catchy hook; hate to see this really short. Let’s hear you on tha 1st verse… A lil’ bit of a Weezy flow. Cool “dreads and golds” part; glad that’s you right there. Oh shit, just one verse? Way too short, but gets my thumbs up. My Rating: 4.0

18. Skit
Yes, ANOTHER skit! LOL @ it bein’ longer than tha previous joint that I thought was a skit. If Bootsie on this shit, you know I’m DYIN’ to hear it, again!! >>> I like tha “Hood Song (That Lane)” beat in tha background. Because of No. 19 comin’ up, I just had a GREAT FEELIN’ that was gonna be tha next joint on here ‘cause No. 19 jointz are always anticipating/REAL GOOD. Bootsie sounds GREAT talkin’ on this beat! I liked that he went on tha hook to tha “Hood Song”’s beat; great shit! I can’t get enough of fuckin’ hearin’ Bootsie on this skit! Yes, 22 more seconds!! GREAT “you want beef, nigga? I make beef, nigga” part. Let’s get into tha BEST song on here!! My Rating: N/A

19. “Hood Song (Dat Lane)” Feat. Beezy Bird, Lil’ Mike, Ace, Needy Nee & Kidd
I ID it like that (‘cause “Hood Song” was tha 1st title I saw, and then “Dat Lane”’s tha 2nd title I saw). Here’s tha reaction I got from it when I heard it on tha “Code Blu” CD for tha 1st time: Wow, it just kicked in RIGHT AWAY!! I slowly hear tha beat, and I can TELL it’s tha Baton Rouge type of beat that I FUCKIN’ LOVE!!!! This hook sounds REAL TIGHT/REAL CATCHY!!! Too fuckin’ catchy!! Oh, it’s all about, “that lane;” cool. Shit, on tha 1st verse, all that shit you do, “in that lane,” iz DEFINITELY watz good!! I can’t wait ‘til tha day comes where I get to meet you, and then, hang wit you, “in that lane,” ya dig. That other dude on tha 1st verse sounded pretty good too on his part; REAL GREAT 1st verse!!! Anotha dude on tha 2nd verse… He has that Young Ready type of flow; I can EASILY tell he a Baton Rouge dude! REAL GREAT 2nd verse from him! It sounds like a girl on tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse… Yeah, “it IZ retontoe” (sp?). She did her thang, as she had a GREAT attitude to this shit! Sounds like a GREAT start to tha 1st ½ of tha 3rd verse!! That’s REAL cool that he’s, “got dat killa in his hand.” Let’s hear tha 2nd ½… That dude’s “a dog wit no brain;” HE RETARDED!!! This shit was SOOOOOOOO FUCKIN’ TIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!!!! I like how it ended, as tha beat ended cold, wit, “whatchu know about that lane, nigga?” To add to this: I guess this didn’t source who was featured in this joint. Let’s see if it says it in tha “Code Blu” CD… *Checks* Yup, it’s featuring Beezy Bird, Lil’ Mike, Ace, Needy Nee & Kidd. You do love your featured artists, Blu Black, lol. I might consider this to be tha 2nd song I play off of tha “Code Blu” CD, since tha one I’m playin’ right now iz “Retardid.” My Current Rating: 4.9

20. “Give Me Me” Feat. Trally Boy
I just wanna say right now that tha front cover to your “Code Blu” CD iz SO FUCKIN’ INFECTIOUS!!!!!!!!!! I feel like it can’t be stopped, just like wit my boy Jimmy The DJ’s “Gangsta Gumbo Vol. 2” mixtape cover; I see it non-stop! Let’s hear what this title gon define… >>> Cool beat so far… I have a feelin’ that typical, “it’s ya boy,” thing gon come out… Good, it didn’t. REAL nice start to tha 1st verse, as you said you were, “sellin’ drugs,” and shit like that; GREAT shit to listen to from you! Sounds like anotha catchy hook on here, and that beat just makes this joint sound good. Oh wow, I didn’t expect tha repetitiveness in tha hook wit all those “ay, give me me” parts! Trally Boy’s 2nd verse was nice on this shit too. Jammin’ shit right here. When it said “Blu Black” before tha 2nd hook ended, I thought it was gonna be another verse from you, but no, you let tha beat ride; nice beat ending. My Rating: 4.3

21. Outro
5:57 on tha outro’s length? Damn, I hope this some GREAT shit (talkin’ from DJ Bootsie, you rappin’, anything)!! >>> Sounds like a song… Nice beat in tha background, but sounds like some shout outs goin’ on here… Yeah, “thank Down Bad Entertainment;” Down Bad be doin’ tha damn thang, and I’m REAL GLAD they got a lot of luv for me. Next time when you record an outro, or whateva it iz to give credits, I’ll be lookin’ forward to hearin’/seein’ my name somewhere. I’m glad you on tha outro here. When you said, “I see you my nigga,” it sounded like it was copied/pasted ‘cause it sounded like one of your words (to what you might’ve been sayin’ next) just got cut off, lol (it sounded like it was gonna say, “my…”). It’s sad to hear you say, “they killed my dawg, ya heard me.” Well, that ended at 2:32. Oh wait, sounds like a slow intro to (maybe) a song… No, tha fuckin’ “this ya boy, Blu Black” thing. I don’t know tha actual person singin’, but this iz way too depressing for me. Sorry to hear that you have had deaths in your life. I’m not gonna rate this, as this ain’t really officially a “song;” it’s more of a long outro. That FUCKIN’ “it’s ya boy, Blu Black” thing had to be at tha end. My Rating: N/A

Overall: End Time: 8:52 PM. Well, I’m FINALLY finished reviewin’ this CD. Well, I thought I was gonna expect to be happier, but I’m a lil’ satisfied wit what I heard on here. Tha 1st ½ of tha mixtape was way too decent/not my type of Louisiana music that I’d hear (excluding No. 2 and 3), but tha CD gained some life once we hit No. 14, so I was glad for a happy ending. Keep doin’ yo thang, Blu Black, and I hope you, your manager, and anybody readin’ this, enjoy this review. Once again, I’m REAL FUCKIN’ GLAD to be workin’ wit you, dawg. We got this 2009 shit on lock, ya heard me! That commercial gon be comin’, as soon as I get that mini DV tape, belie’ dat! Also, now that I have an official copy of your “Code Blu” CD, I finna go put tha featured artists in all tha song IDs on my review for that CD, so it looks a lot better lookin’.
