Review #1,516: Level "Club Banga King 3"

Reviewed on 8.03.2016 (Review #1,516)

Got anotha brand-new review for ya, here! This one just got released today off of Mayham Entertainment & I’m anticipated ta hear it!! We got Level Club Banga King 3!! Tha 3rd Club Banga King disc!! Level always be holdin’ it down with tha energy, club bangaz and bein’ one of tha best dudes from BR! So, it’s only right that I go and buy this ta support him! Make sure y’all do, too!! I’m expectin’ a lotta high-rated songs, of course!! Start Time: 8:03 PM | End Time: 9:35 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Down In BR”
Can’t wait ta hear this CD!! Just got fulla dat shit for it!!! Retwaded!!! Only 2:18 on tha length?! ½ intro, ½ fiya track?! >>> Oh, I get it! “Down In The DM” beat; here we go… Haven’t heard a Jackin’ 4 Beats-rappin’ Level in a long while! Seems like this refreshin’, despite this bein’ a jacked-beat joint! Gotta feel how you comin’ through wit tha flow, here!! ROFL @ tha instant, “Nigga, what?!?,” on tha hook; crazy!! At least you don’t make this boring by havin’ your “Baton Rouge” flow on this bitch! Nice job wit tha 1st verse, of course; can’t deny it!! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ great; can’t believe you have that big tattoo on your face! Level has leveled up, lol! My Rating: 4.3

02. “MC Hammer (Remix)” feat. Foxx & Hurricane Chris
Ooh, can’t wait ta hear this crazy club banga!! I gon need a drank fa this one—water, that iz! Mouse On Tha Track on tha production and look at tha crazy lineup fa tha features!!! >>> Still soundin’ pulsatin’!! Crazy wit tha “hard like a ma’fucka!!” Yeah, Level, “I’m shmokin’ on tha best weed,” straight from tha 1st verse!! Who ain’t?! So fuckin’ jammin’, here; undeniable!! You really holdin’ it down on tha verse wit your flow; you’re one of tha best!! So fuckin’ crazy; can’t say it enough!! Holy, fuckin’ charged-up Foxx on tha 2nd verse, really holdin’ it down, here!! So fuckin’ hyped up!! This iz why I have all tha kinds of energy I have and neva back down from a challege!! It’s y’all; y’all give me this energy!! That’s why, I’ll always support y’all!!! Keepin’ it goin’ wit Chris on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit some regular-soundin’ Chris shit… Good fa this, even tho you & Foxx really held it down!! Still, Hurricane Chris on a really-dope remix!! My Rating: 5.0 (***GENEROUS RATING!!!***))

03. “All Da Above” feat. J Trax
Likin’ tha title a lot, especially since that’s how I feel when I’m a celebrity!! “All da” damn tyme!! J Trax on tha feature and production, here; leggo!! >>> Really feelin’ tha creepy-kinda beat intro, here! Hook’s definitely catchy, here; nice shit! Here you come on tha 1st verse, strictly “purple;” you know!! “28 and I been grown;” can’t believe I’m “28,” Level! First heard you when I was 19; what’s goin’ on, here?! Can’t wait ta meet you in tha future! I’m tryna touch down for tha 1st time in tha Boot/Baton Rouge sometime next year; gotta believe in my dreams!! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ pretty nice; your voice sounds grown, lol! Good shit; definitely feelin’ how you comin’ through on this as a celebrity! Beat pretty nice, too, combinin’ witchu! My Rating: 4.4

04. “Screaming” feat. Racked-Up Ready
Got Mr. RRR on tha feature, here; who would’ve thought he’d be gone?! Q-Red on tha beat!! Fuck yeah!!! >>> Definitely some crazy shit wit tha beginning beat, here! Oh, a Ready sample! This tha 1st time I’m hearin’ a Ready-sampled song! Good start ta be sampled; I think I can fuck wit these Ready-sampled tracks! Beat’s definitely on-n-poppin’ and Q-Red a legend!!! Here you are on tha 1st verse, Level, comin’ through wit “dat 9mm!” Who would’ve thought I’d have one ta me just weeks before I first heard you?! On January 23, 2008, it was one of my first hangouts outside of school/college, and some white dude pulled out a 9mm on me when I went to their apartment, for tha 2nd time. They were like, “You like this?” I said, “No! Get it away from me!” Then, he was like, “Fine; I’ll neva do it again!” He has an obsession wit gunz! You doin’ ya thang on tha 1st verse, here; dumb shit!! Ooh, a Ready verse fa tha 2nd verse; thought it was just gon be a sample!! Sounds pretty nice; I’m feelin’ this! Doesn’t sound too sellout-y for me! My Rating: 4.8

05. “Drop It Like It Burn” feat. Ace
Only know one Ace, and that’s Ace from Gardere, mainly known for his feature on “Hood Song (Dat Lane)” & from BluBlack’s CDs! We got Ken on tha beat; can’t wait ta see—hear what I gon hear, here!! >>> Bet it gon be a jammin’ joint, here; definitely feelin’ tha vibe! Here you are in tha beginning and you got this jammin’ shit on lock; can’t deny it!! “Tell me what you need!” Yeah, I agree! Any chick I hang out wit, I always buy them shit—I always pay for “it!!” Tha hook sounds real jammin’; holy, fuck, lol!! Oh-fuckin’-boy!! Shit sounds so excellent while fulla dat shit!! Oh, this Ace a female, here? Not bad; sounds like a Da Brat vs. Iggy Azalea, lol! That’s just my 1st reaction, but definitely a plus here fa a female!! Long, extended hook ta end this off! Perfect fa while you’re fulla dat shit!! It feels like it neva ends!! My Rating: 4.9

06. “Street Niggaz” feat. Max Minelli & C-Loc
Ooh, almost thought it was a repeat song from Big Scoob’s new CD, Back 2 Da Streets! His nephew, Koon On Da Beat’s on tha beat, and it threw me off, lol! So, my anticipation’s pretty high, with these legends on tha feature!! >>> “Yeah!!!” Here we fuckin’ go!!! Jammin’, anticipatin’ beat start like it was a Big Scoob track!! Yeah, tha hook’s definitely fuckin’ tight!! Sounds like classic-soundin’ shit from you wit how you deliverin’ it! Of course, you holdin’ down tha 1st verse, here; definitely sick!!! Got Max comin’ through on tha 2nd verse, soundin’ like he even more evolved, like, level-up even further in tha streetz! And, Loc on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through like it’s ageless Baton Rouge music! Of course, gotta respect it at all times!! My Rating: 4.6

07. “Independent Swagg” feat. Juvenile
Think I might’ve heard from somewhere else? Either way, I gon treat this like a new review! Rodnae Da Boss doin’ tha beat! >>> Sounds, like, really exciting fa a Rodnae production and this hot 27-second beat intro! LOL @ tha hook; nice job, Level! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ pretty nice; you feelin’ tha vibe fa these “be-otch-ez!!” Great/dumb shit!! Hearin’ Juvie on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through really fast; can’t deny it!! Classic-soundin’ shit! Classic wit how you breakin’ down tha bridge/3rd verse, Level!! So fuckin’ classic!! My Rating: 4.6

08. “Don’t Give A Fuck” feat. Skip
Lookin’ forward ta dis Q-Red production!! >>> That’s a lotta tags in tha beginning… Oh, I’m feelin’ how you deliverin’ this hook; definitely some dope shit! Luv your celebrity vibe!! Instant transition to tha 1st verse from you, here, continuin’ tha crazy-catchy vibe!! And now, transitionin’ to Skip on tha 2nd verse, slowin’ down tha flow by quite tha amount, lol! Still, an interestin’ combination! My Rating: 4.7

½time: And, whataya know? Anotha critically-acclaimed CD I’m reviewin’!! A whoppin’ 4.7 for tha CD rating!! Talk about constant bangaz!! Tha Club Banga King you are, Level!! Of course, A+ production, A+ vibez, A+ features, A+ deliveries, A+ hooks, A+ verses!!! Good shit!! Let’s keep it goin’!!!

09. “He Say, She Say” feat. B-Will & Big Poppa
Oh, I expect this ta be nuts, too, wit Mouse doin’ tha beat, once again!! >>> Yeah!! Mouse doin’ tha damn thang wit slammin’ these sounds!! Definitely jammin’ once it hits tha hook! Lol @ how you comin’ through on it, Level!! Here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit some jammin’, crazy-soundin’ gangsta shit!! Definitely a jammin’-ass hook; you really got pure chemistry wit Mouse On Tha Track!! B-Will on tha 2nd verse, just spittin’ some good shit. It’s like a regular voice, which iz ehh, but tha rhymes help it out… LOL @ Poppa on tha 3rd verse, kickin’ it off wit, “Mannnnnnneeeeeeeee!” Nice/dumb!!! Kinda soundin’ like Cee-Lo Green, now that he’s evolved to 33 years-old! Poppa!! My Rating: 4.4

10. Skit
Bwahahaha! Ain’t expect a “skit,” lol! >>> What can be goin’ on…? Sounds like it’s samplin’ tha old dayz, in tha rain, old music, just vibin’ while it’s rainin’ out… My Rating: N/A

11. “Ms. Parker” feat. Mouse On Tha Track & Kango Slim
Ooh, during these great Heather times, there’s a new J Buc-produced track!!! Anticipatin’ this one!! Once again, from tha 225 to tha 504 wit tha features!! >>> Oh, this sounds mysterious on tha beat intro; fuckin’ lovin’ it!! Just gotta love weed!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!!!!! Tha hook’s real catchy from you, Level; dumb shit!! J Buc definitely got tha championship ratings comin’!!! Here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit dat exciting shit ta hear; gotta luv it!! Luv how you said, “Shit yeah,” pretty fast; “shit yeah,” lol! Rofl @ Mouse on tha 2nd verse; what a crazy-soundin’ verse!! Just luv his flow—his delivery’s unbelievable!!! Even tho it’s Kango on tha 3rd verse, it really sounds like an actual sample. Like, lol, that’s what I thought it was, at first! Great shit; anotha interestin’ collaboration!! My Rating: 4.8

12. “Beat Up” feat. Tweeday & Thug Brothers
Can’t wait ta hear this crazy, hyped-up collaboration!! Koon doin’ anotha track fa you, Level!! Exciting!!! >>> What an intro—oh wait, a hook!! Volume sounds kinda quieter, here, but tha vibe’s here; that’s all that matters! Good shit comin’ from you on tha 1st verse, Level! Definitely feelin’ it! I remember when all these rappers I randomly discovered on MySpace, or discovered me (Tweeday). It’s like, who would’ve thought y’all would reach collaboration status?! Shit’s definitely on-n-poppin’ wit this energy from tha 2nd verse, here!! And, keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, always not “hard ta find!” Always feelin’ tha dark beat vibe and how tha Thug Brothers hold it down on tha verse; definitely pure!! Y’all kept about 11 seconds of silence on this bitch, at tha end, lol; random… My Rating: 4.7

13. “Street Shit” feat. Spitta & G-Nate
Can’t wait ta hear this one, produced by EQ!! Anticipation at all timez!!! >>> Sounds like a serious beat intro; fuckin’ luvin’ this shit, right now!!! Excellent hook, here; luv how it sounds!! Definitely defines tha vibe/setting for tha streetz!! Here you are on tha 1st verse, Lev, comin’ through wit dat crazy “shit,” with those pure keys in tha background!! Such a fuckin’ jam, despite bein’ for tha streetz!! We got Spit on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit his usual; gotta feel it! Spit it like it iz, Spit!! Keepin’ it goin’ wit Nate on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit some great “street shit!” His voice kinda plain like B-Will, but it’s still nice ta have him as a collaborator! My Rating: 4.7

14. “I Know You Want It”
Ewe, no producer?! I can’t think of what this can be!! >>> Oh, an uncredited Koon on tha beat, here! Nice surprise! Beat sounds pretty nice, of course; definitely some pure street/club shit! Catchy hook, too; nice! Good shit wit tha 1st verse, here! Excellent flow and really layin’ it down in tha bed, once again! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and tha line, “Don’t kiss yo girl, my dick up in there,” that repeated literally reminded me of “Uptown Funk”, lol; sounds similar wit tha flow, lol. Nice job wit tha rest of this shit! My Rating: 4.3

15. “Paper Route” feat. B-Real & Ronnie Rap Game
Who’s Ronnie Rap Game, lol? OMG, right when they change tha way to bake at work, as well as me havin’ anxiety to get off on Percy Keith’s birthday (August 18), B-Real’s here! Even on tha beat! Oh, in my zone, too! I think I need to find food before I go inta this one!! *Finds something…* Aight, I’m back! Oh, B-Real, when will you reconnect wit me?! Just mailed my new CD off today to him, Big Wayne, his mom & their brother, Justin Dabney; hope they enjoy it! I also wrote a letter to B-Real & his mom, stating that we should reconnect, especially since tha one-year of my brother’s passing just passed. There’s no time left for beefin’! It’s been 2 ½ years; so much has happened in my life!! With that bein’ said, let’s do dis!!! >>> *Screams* “Fuck this!!!” Naw, when I say that, I feel funny! Shit’s so fuckin’ pure!! Gotta luv B-Real on tha hook!! He made me $52,000 richer!!! Tha money and status continuin’ ta rise wit me, thanx ta him!! He really got shit on lock!! He missin’ out on too many of my ventures, tho! But, anyway, here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit dat tight shit! Luvin’ tha rhymes and how you comin’ through wit how you deliver this shit! Definitely tha place ta be: Level’s life!! Think: I worked from 4 AM – 2 PM & 5 PM – 9 PM last Sunday! And, 4 AM – 2 PM & 7:40 PM – 12:18 AM this past Sunday! Where’d all that work ethic start from?! B-Real!!! Who would work 14.91 hours in a day?! Me!! Got Ronnie on tha 2nd verse and he sounds catchy on this, fa some1 I neva heard of, before! Good shit! Ooh, even more ta this! A 3rd verse! Must be a group? Sounds betta than tha 2nd verse; really feelin’ this fastness!! Gotta appreciate this while you can!! Just think of this luv: B-Real still has me blocked, but his “Turnt Up”’s chartin’ on my playlist, like, right now!! Why would I play some1 who can’t stand me?! It’s all about thinkin’ positive!!! My Rating: 4.9

16. “Bootin’”
Just like tha Boot, itself, you “bootin’!” I feel dat!! No producer listed & only 2:12 on tha length? >>> Sounds like it gon be excitin’!! Okay, Q-Red on tha beat! No producers listed ‘cause no features listed? I’ont get it, but definitely a surprise!! Feelin’ how you have tha energy on tha short hook, as well as this crazy 1st verse!! Lol @ tha line, “Middle fingaz up like, ‘Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!’!” Tha 2nd verse sounds jammin’ as fuck, too; undeniable!! Unbelievable!! My Rating: 4.5

17. “Still Jiggin’” feat. Da Jiggalaters
I’m like, “I know this was on two CDs;” how’d I hear two, already? Now, I realize! Big Scoob & Sam I Am! Now, Level!! Anyway, Q-Red on tha beat, here!! Almost thought that was him on tha pre-hook but it’s Sam I Am with you, Level, ya dig?! Ooh, you tearin’ up tha hook, here!! Really diggin’ tha “Roll On” shit from tha Big Tymers on tha sample, too!! And, we got you on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit tha “pillz,” as you eat “‘em all at tha dinner table!” Yeah, Level!! “2016;” it’s official!!! Definitely a sick 1st verse ta vibe to at all times!! And, it’s wild, here, wit Sam I Am on tha 2nd verse!! He anotha dude I first heard on February 16—might’ve been 17th, 2008 ‘cause that review I done did, Big Jay’s Pyrex Radio Vol. 4: From Crumbz 2 Brickz, took me two dayz ta review ‘cause I was reviewin’ a CD a month, back then! Dope shit on tha 2nd verse, includin’ when I heard D-So & them do they thang, too! Definitely dope shit from Scoob on tha 3rd verse, here!! It’s all about bein’ tha most resistant and consistent!! Keepin’ this shit goin’ wit T-Lo on tha final part, here! Dumb shit, especially when two months ago, tha Jukebox Challenge featured my radio edit to T-Lo’s “All Day”, with my dog bark in tha beginning!! My Current Rating: 5.0

Overall: Wow!! Anotha critically acclaim review by ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog a.k.a. Frank Calhoune!! Level, you really turned up on this one!! So many potential singles on this bitch—pretty much err-thang!!! Your energy, your vibes, your deliveries, your songs, your hooks, your verses, your producers, your features, your… EVERYTHING!!! No wonder where I get all my energy from!! I just sent that Heather chick a video of me jammin’ to your “Hit Dat (Remix)” that I filmed of myself a few weeks ago, showin’ off where I get all my energy from!! You’re tha definition of energy, Level!! Tha most-energetic rapper of all-time fa me!!! Hope you continue ta be successful and neva give up on your dreams!!

R.I.P. Video #47: VL Mike 2.0

Broadcasting from tha abandoned West Mountain Sanitarium in Scranton, PA... Today, April 20, 2016, marks eight years since tha murder of New Orleans rapper, Michael Allen, better known by his stage name, VL Mike. Allen was born on January 19, 1976 in New Orleans, LA. As a part of tha N.O.-based rap group, tha Chopper City Boyz, Allen & tha Chopper City Boyz released their debut album, We Got This, on February 27, 2007 on Chopper City Records & Koch Records. Tha album featured tha smash, "Make 'Em Mad", featuring B.G., which was produced by Mississippi heavyweight, David Banner. Tha album sold 27,000 copies in its first week, as it debuted @ #21 on tha Billboard Hot 200 chart, #4 on tha Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, #1 on tha Billboard Top Rap Albums chart, and #1 on tha Billboard Independent Albums chart. Shortly after tha album was released, Allen departed from Chopper City Records and went on to pursue a solo career on Executive Game Entertainment. From there, he released I'm The Truth (Da Mixtape) & Place Yo Betz in 2007. Shortly after, Allen was in talks with signing with Sony BMG & Epic Records, gettin' ready to release his debut album, It's Only One Me. However, on April 20, 2008, at around 1:00 PM, while exiting his vehicle on tha 4700 block of Miles Drive, Allen was shot multiple times by a mysterious gunman in New Orleans, where Allen later died at University Hospital. Word on tha street was that Allen's killer escaped by foot.

Shortly after his death, Allen's final-recorded verse would be released on April 24, 2008, on Baton Rouge's A-Mar & Dyl's "To The Max", with Max Minelli & VL Mike. Around tha same time, Allen's solo debut single, "Money In Here", featuring tha legendary N.O.'s Mannie Fresh, was released. In 2011, Mighty Muzik released Can't Say It 2 My Face, more unreleased material from Allen. If VL were alive today, he would've celebrated his 40th birthday on January 19, 2016, as he was only 32 years-old at tha time of his death.

Review #1,488: Kevin Gates "You Don't Love Me"

Reviewed on 12.25.2015 (Review #1,488)

Keepin’ tha reviewz goin’, we got a Bread Winners Association review up next! Kevin Gates You Don’t Love Me! Ain’t know about this mixtape till Pittsburg, PA rapper, Lua Proc, posted about it on Instagram. From there, I had to do my investigatin’ and now, I’m finally gettin’ ta this! Can’t wait ta hear it! Start Time: 9:51 AM | End Time: 10:37 AM

Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Middle Finger” feat. Kidd Kidd & Young Buck
Let’s hear it! >>> Lil’ drop from DJ Legacy in tha beginning, here; guess he hosted it? Feelin’ tha beat, so far; nice shit… Here’s Kidd on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit some nice street shit! I swear, they go off more on tha tracks when they’re with you, Gates! LOL @ tha “titties out, if you want some breast milk” line; good shit, Kidd! Almost thought that was you on tha 2nd verse but it’s Buck, here, comin’ through with some good shit… Here you come through on tha 3rd verse, spittin’ some nice shit fa tha streetz… Gotta luv them “gold mouth dawgz!” My Rating: 4.3

02. “Mexico” feat. Stiches
I recognize this…; Murder For Hire mixtape, here… My Current Rating: 4.2

03. “To The Money” feat. Hurricane Chris
Let’s see this collab, despite tha title… >>> Hearin’ tha beat and it’s pretty nice; kinda reminds me of some Yo Gotti or Game-type shit? Nice shit from Chris on tha 1st verse, here, spittin’ dem flamez! Here you are on tha hook and despite tha title, at least there’s a lotta gettin’-fucked-up-type shit on tha hook! Can’t complain too much ‘bout this one; it goes off… Here you are on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through with some good shit; nice and consistent! Sounds like you’re nice and hoarse with your voice, here, Gates, lol… My Rating: 4.2

04. “Grind For It” feat. Khaotic
>>> Not feelin’ tha weird voice on tha hook, at first, but who knows, it could grow? Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and, of course, I always luv your “dope” and “pyrex”-type rhymes; fa’eva a legend, Gates!! Nice job wit tha 2nd verse, too, here; good shit! And, hearin’ tha 3rd verse from tha both of y’all and it sounds nice fa a collab! Definitely some catchy shit, overall; gotta keep grindin’!! My Rating: 4.0

05. “The Truth”
LOL, I ain’t even know what was gonna come next… But yeah, fuck these females! That whole thing that “happened in Florida” was like, WTF? She shouldn’t’ve made tha initiative!! Definitely a song that goes hard, overall; great job expressin’ these emotions, Gates! My Current Rating: 4.7

06. “I Feel Like” feat. 2 Chainz
Anotha collab between y’all two? >>> Tha previous collab was definitely nice but “I feel like” (lol) this gon be tighter! Definitely diggin’ tha slow intro with you on tha hook! Definitely somethin’ that makes me “feel like” I’m even more superhuman than before! It’s all about that kush!! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s Deuce Chainz (lol), comin’ through with his usual-soundin’ rhymes; I fux wit it… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s Chainz again, deuce fa a deuce with tha verses, here, lol! Again, his usual-soundin’ rhymes that sound good on this beat… This disc must be mainly songs featuring you? Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s Chainz again, lol… Once again, it’s nice ta hear! My Rating: 4.5

07. “Fall” feat. Maino & Money
Damn, someone’s name iz “Money,” smh? >>> Diggin’ tha beginning, here; always luv how you hold those note-oh-oh-oh-oh-otes, lol! Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you and it sounds great ta hear… LOL @ you sayin’, “Customers;” feel like I’m drowned in that word! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from Maino and he sounds random ta be on a song witchu… However, it still sounds nice ta hear. Hearin’ this 3rd verse from this Money dude and wow, it’s not about “money!” Who knew?!? It’s more on tha real-life-soundin’ tip; sounds good… Nice synth at tha end, here… My Rating: 4.1

08. “Bang Bang” feat. Trevor Jackson
No features? >>> Instantly startin’, here… Thought it would be shorter but it’s 4:15? Hearin’ a voice on tha hook; no credit? Prolly would’ve rather it be just you on this, Gates; voice on tha hook’s aight… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s this dude… Lemme do my searchin’… *Searches…* Aight, it’s Trevor Jackson. Tha 1st verse, overall, ain’t that bad… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s you, Gates; sounds nice… Definitely diggin’ your consistent rhymes with these “burgers” and all that! Totally made me forget this was on tha R&B tip once you came in! I swear, how did God create you? You literally are tha greatest!! Back to tha R&B tip on tha 3rd verse, here; don’t really dig when he tries to catch his breath during tha rhymes! My Rating: 3.7

09. “Tomorrow”
>>> Sounds like it’s a hot joint, here, with tha beat… “I’m on a lotta drugs, I’m out my body,” lol. I thought I might’ve heard this from somewhere, whether I got a sample or somethin’, but tha hook definitely sounds familiar… Either way, if this tha 1st time I’m officially reviewin’ it, it’s definitely hot! Great, smooth hook! Tha 1st verse’s nice ta hear, as you got your shit on lock, Gates! Tha 2nd verse sounds nice, too, and toward tha end of tha 2nd verse, it sounds like you’re randomly driftin’ off somewhere, lol… My Rating: 4.3

½time: Sounds like a nice lil’ mainstream-soundin’ CD fa you, Gates; I fux wit it… At tha moment, we have a 4.2 for tha CD rating; let’s keep it goin’!

10. “Boss Shit (Remix)” feat. 550
Not sure who 550 iz, but let’s see how this goes down… >>> Kinda sounds like a jacked Future on tha 1st verse, here; let’s see if I feel this, altogether… It sounds like it could be tight, in a way, but kinda like tha mainstream, southern music that’s out right now that I wouldn’t love-love… Hearin’ you spit and it sounds nice, though it sounds a lil’ low on tha vocals or track, overall? A decent track at its best, overall, though I can fuck wit it, a lil’… My Rating: 3.6

11. “Whippin’ Up” feat. Chedda Da Connect & Scrilla
LOL! Even though I can’t stand auto-tune and it bein’ awkward with Chedda’s voice, I do really love this one! I feel like he’s bein’ seduced while recording with that voice, lol, but fa’real, it’s a great song fa tha trap! Err-body does a nice job on this, whether they sound fucked-up or not! Gates, of course, you had tha best, most-normal-voiced verse on this shit and you own it! LOL, gotta luv when Chedda says, “Real street nigga who ain’t scared ta sell shit!” It’s almost like he drowned in auto-tune, lol! My Current Rating: 4.6

12. “I’m Sayin’”
Damn, only 47 seconds? >>> Sounds great ta hear! Consistent with a nice beat in tha background! And, it ended outta nowhere! My Rating: 4.6

13. “I Like That”
>>> Sounds nice; kinda reminds me of tha Baton Rouge Gates I knew, with tha “mane” shit, lol. But yeah, this shit sounds nice ta hear; tha beat’s so quiet, lol. Tha hook sounds catchy; definitely diggin’ what you always bring to tha table! Tha 2nd verse sounds nice ta hear, too; you got this on lock fa dem bitches! My Rating: 4.2

14. “Worst Pain”
LOL @ only 43 seconds! >>> Good shit; who cares if your “clothes dirty!” That’s how you’re real! That’s why, we all love you ta pieces, Gates!! Tight shit, once again! My Rating: 4.4

15. “Rollin’ Around”
Let’s hear it! >>> A lil’ slow sound, here, and an okay hook… Rappin’s a lil’ random, here; sounds like you just came up with random shit… “BWA;” shout it again, lol! Again, hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds kinda random with what you’re spittin’… Nice, random Jamaican shit toward tha end, here… My Rating: 3.5

16. “Work”
SMH, only kept tha 39 seconds, here? Prolly could’ve used tha whole entire song here instead of, like, tha previous song! Either way, definitely a classic joint! Would’ve been a perfect rating if tha whole thang was on here with Lua Proc, but for now, I’ll just rate it off your verse! My Current Rating: 4.8

17. “Kno One”
Here it iz, once again, lol! My Current Rating: 4.2

18. “Monster” feat. Jo Rodeo
Now, let’s see how we gon wrap this shit up! No Lua Proc on #16 but we have someone here? Will they be worth it? Prolly won’t be worth near as much as Lua Proc but let’s see… >>> Hearin’ this dude on tha 1st verse and it kinda reminds me of a mix between Tyga & Problem… Nothin’ too interesting fa me; just a random newbie fa me… “Shoppin’ at tha Dollar Tree;” noooooooo, smh! Tha hook’s a lil’ boring fa me; not that crazy about this, overall… Hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse and you bring some life ta this, Gates… Definitely feelin’ your consistency at all times; good shit! My Rating: 3.4

Overall: Not too bad, overall; I was feelin’ this… Nothin’ too striking for new jointz, but still, a nice lil’ Gates-featured compilation, overall!

Review #1,384: Level "Unsupervised"

Reviewed on 3.14.2014 (Review #1,384)

After my previous review, which was live, it took me a while to get back into this… But, I’m here, and up next, it’s Level Unsupervised. SMH @ people callin’ this a “mixtape;” it’s an album, since it’s on iTunes and places you purchase music! Released on Mayham Entertainment, I’m kinda anticipatin’ it. However, since Level did not thank me for all tha awards he received, back on January 22, 2013, as well as purposely ignores my calls/texts, I refuse to buy this, and made sure I only am freely-listenin’ to it! Once you lose your “money virginity”—spend money on my services, I’m sure I can afford to spend some money on you, ya feel me? You’re lucky I’m even takin’ a whole 80 minutes outta my time to review this, right now! Start Time: 11:30 AM | End Time: 12:41 PM

Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it! After I was robbed by an artist who claimed they “get money,” hearin’ about how much you “got money” and anything “money” really bothers me. If you have not done business wit me before, I won’t tolerate “money” talk in tha music!!

01. “Neva Left”
>>> “BJ Lil’ Junior;” must be BJ’s kid? ID’d as BJ’s new beat tag? You may say they thought you “fell off.” In a way, you did wit communicatin’, but as far as music, it always lives on. Tha beat’s nice, and tha hook’s pretty nice wit your good vibes, includin’ tha background/darker voice on tha 2nd ½ of tha hook. Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s good, but why always rappin’ cocky? Hearin’ tha 2nd verse, and when you say, “Hits,” it’s kinda slang for a state-only “hit.” Like, nothin’ eva charted on tha Billboard charts, or even hit Music Choice, yet… Either way, it sounds great wit how you deliver this, ova this beat. It’s been “10 years,” already? You started in 2003 or somethin’? My Rating: 4.5

02. “Fuck Wrong?”
>>> EQ beat. I agree wit you on tha hook: “Fuck wrong wit these niggaz?” So many broke; none take me serious, anymore, but I’m still grindin’. Gotta luv tha beat, as well as your aggression, on tha hook! Huh, an interlude after tha 1st hook? Kinda odd fa a song like yours; seems like there’s no room fa interludes… But, here’s tha 1st verse, at least a minute in, and it sounds just as good as tha hook! Again, that interlude after tha 2nd hook… It’s a real nice beat interlude, but interludes in-between parts of tha songs don’t really fit in your music, especially when there’s no words in tha interludes… Anyway, tha 2nd verse iz better, here; feelin’ how you comin’ through wit your style, once again! LOL @ havin’ “Ghost Town” “tatted on [your] arm;” obsession, lol? I could care less about Long Island, though I grew up there; times are different, now, but I guess “Ghosttown” must be tha place ta be? My Rating: 4.7

03. “Get It Back” Feat. Mouse
>>> A Mouse beat, here, and I’m likin’ tha “mayhem” intro wit Mouse, here! And, tha hook’s on a newer version of a bounce style, wit tha vocals, here; hella catchy! Here’s Mouse on tha 1st verse, comin’ through nice and catchy, here!! Oh, iz that tha hook? Must’ve been a long intro, into tha hook; nice, either way! Today’s tha seven-year anniversary of Music Choice Rap premierin’ tha “Wipe Me Down (Remix)”, which this beat kinda reminds me of it! Sounds a lil’ different wit you on tha end of tha hook, but it’s you, once tha 1st verse starts. Nice job, though “three cars?” Why don’t you use some of dat money on me? And, why are you only holdin’ up $20s on your website page of http://www.itslevelbaby.com ? I saw someone do that, and I didn’t realize they were broke, in tha end, smh. Here’s Mouse on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit catchy rhymes and tha flow on tha track, once again; gotta dig it! Spendin’ so much money on these things that only cost $20 or somethin’; weird… Really not diggin’ tha cocky rhymes you spittin’ on tha 3rd verse, when you “wantin’ mo” than “$100;” nah, this “money world” iz so ruined, cursed & poisoned. I think I’m glad I got robbed twice, totalin’ almost a whole stack ‘cause it makes me not “fit in” wit tha “money crowd,” smh. This prolly could’ve had more of those bounce-like vocals, than just in tha beginning/end; it should’ve been a part of tha hook! My Rating: 4.3

04. “I Be” Feat. Lil’ Cali
Old song? Looks familiar… *Checks* Yup, from Lil’ Cali’s Rappin’ N Trappin’, so, at least it’s still new. My Current Rating: 4.6

05. “Watch Me”
>>> Really feelin’ tha start, despite a lil’ bit of a distortion on your voice; nice hook ova this beat!!! That organ’s pretty nice, and how you deliver tha hook’s crazy!! Here’s tha 1st verse… Regular rhymes, here; they’re not bad. When you not gonna focus on “gettin’ rich”? That would be refreshing! Glad I don’t rap about money! Tha 2nd verse iz pretty nice, too! I think this gon be a 4.8, in tha end. Prolly would’ve gotten to 4.9 if this was a lil’ catchier, on tha verses. Wow, I thought there was gonna be a 3rd verse, but there’s a lil’ bit of a bridge/longer hook, as well as an outro and repeatin’ hook. Either way, I hope this iz tha best song off this CD! My Rating: 4.8

06. “So In Love” Feat. Juvenile & Box
>>> An intro, here… SMH, it’s “money”-related. Huh? A fade-in wit “money” in it? Not for me at all; a lil’ soft fa me wit this production, too! Also, sounds like you’re masturbatin’ on tha vocals, a lil’, since you’re a lil’ auto-tuned. It’s like, you know you’re fuckin’ fucked up if auto-tune’s more important than ME! I’m not bein’ cocky, I’m bein’ honest!! I dunno how a straight dude can take this shit serious?! Savage can pull these kinda singin’ hooks off about “money,” but not you! Juve on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit aight rhymes; whateva wit this song… No wonder why you don’t fuck wit me seriously: “I [don’t] love money,” and hate when people brag about it! Thank God M.I.A.’s “Y.A.L.A.”’s playin’ on MCU in tha background, here; a nice distraction, and much betta than this shit! We got Box on tha 3rd verse, and I must lol @ him tryna be lyrical on other songs. Any kinda obsessive-“money” perspective like this, and you’re just a regular dude—tha same!! Bleh… My Rating: 2.1

07. “Level Rock”
Again? Three CDs wit this one? Why? My Current Rating: 3.7

08. “Be There” Feat. Tucka
New artist on tha feature, fa me… >>> EQ beat; good bassline and beat, but on tha soft side “fa me.” It’s like, aren’t you on a supa-dupa-dupa-fuckin’ tip? Not this “I need you” shit! Here you are on tha 1st verse, spittin’ regular Level rhymes, but nothin’ latchin’ onta me! SMH @ almost anticipatin’ this featured artist, on tha 2nd verse; sounds like someone from tha street that wears a suit or somethin’. Not diggin’ this voice and this song! My Rating: 2.5

09. “Turnt Up”
>>> Finally, a better vibe; pretty catchy wit tha hook wit tha non-stop repeatin’ of “I’m turnt up, and I feel it” shit, ova this beat! Catchy hook; let’s see if you can handle tha verses… Tha 1st verse explains you “still” doin’ shit, and even referred to tha 1st song on this CD. Tha 2nd verse’s just like tha 1st verse, wit a lil’ bit of cockiness goin’ on, in tha lyrics/content. Really, Level, what would life be without “a bad bitch”? I luv how you have to mention one on, like, every song!! My Rating: 4.5

10. “How You Want It”
>>> Q-Red beat. Not anticipatin’ this beat intro; sounds a lil’ soft fa me… Yea, here we are at :30, tha hook, and it sounds like there’s an unlisted singer on tha hook. Can be good fa someone else, but not you! Sellout shit, smh! I’d rather you collaborate wit Meital Dohan; at least she hot, but I know you won’t fuck wit 128 BPM songs, smh! You rather have this 63 shit—more than ½, smh? Tha 1st verse’s you havin’ this giant sex scene wit this bitch. I rather you stick to tha “club bangaz,” like you say. Even referencin’ “Ginuwine,” too? R&B, here we are! Whoot, whoot! Tha 2nd verse continues tha sex scene from tha 1st verse. Really, Level, what’s sex like, by tha way? Fill in tha blank: __________! My Rating: 1.4

½time: It’s an okay CD, so far, but it has its shitty moments… A bunch of tight songs in tha 1st ¼, but then, tha CD gets too soft durin’ most of tha 2nd ¼… Average CD rating’s only 3.7, right now; pretty weak for a Level CD, overall.

11. “I’m Leanin’”
>>> A lil’ catchy on tha hook, here; feelin’ how you on your “double cup” and shit; nice hook, ova this beat. Tha 1st verse’s good; I don’t get this whole thang wit sippin’ outta tha “baby bottle”? Makes y’all make more shit accepted, but y’all don’t except autistic actions/people like me, smh! LOL @ “a real-ass nigga like Donkey Kong;” interestin’ rhyme. I finna play some later on today, when I review more CDs. It’s Super Mario Kart, at tha moment, while I review this. Tha 2nd verse iz good, too, wit how you’re zoned out… My Rating: 4.4

12. “Zydeco Rock” Feat. Tyree Neal, Cupid & Big Pokey
What a lineup… >>> Almost sounds a lil’ faster, but it’s only 80 BPM; thought you were gonna have a 100+ BPM song, lol! Kinda sounds 160-like for tha beats-per-minute, but only durin’ tha hook. Not really a fan of Cupid, but at least this a lil’ different from what I’m used to hearin’… Tha 1st verse from you sounds okay on this beat. It’s kinda a weird mashup between Mardi Gras and your style; interestin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from Tyree Neal; not feelin’ this voice on this track too much, but it ain’t terrible. It’ll prolly work betta on someone else’s track, not your album, Level. What tha hell wit Big Pokey on tha 3rd verse; doesn’t sound like him at all! Sounds like he was paid to be on here, thrown onto this track, and subtracted his style to fit this Mardi Gras-like shit; ugh…! My Rating: 3.0

13. “Dead & Gone” Feat. Mookie Blakk
>>> Sounds like Malachi on tha intro, here… Yuck @ tha voice effect on your voice, durin’ tha hook; could care less about people who have been “dead & gone,” especially since it’s poisoned people (DJ B-Real, technically, Lil’ Phat’s death), and people constantly annoy me wit posts about dead people. It’s like, only post about them if it’s their birthday and death date; that’s it! I don’t need to see it constantly in my news feeds! You don’t see me in a hole from my 30-year-old cousin who died, right? I’m grindin’! BTW, I’ve neva lost anyone outside tha family that I’ve known, so this ain’t really for me, technically. Random how Mookie Blakk’s on tha 2nd verse; haven’t talked ta him since my cousin died. It’s like, where’d he go? Good rhymes, though; interestin’ flow. My Rating: 4.2

14. “Stay On My Mind”
>>> G-Motivation beat. Now, it almost sounds like Mookie Blakk on tha intro, here. A female on tha hook? SMH @ not listin’ who she iz… It’s a decent hook, though, but it sounds a lil’ crossover fa me. Here’s you on tha 1st verse; how can you put tha words “streetz,” “money,” have a female on tha hook, and this crossover vibe in tha same song? Weird… Not for autistic people like me! I have to say, at least you’re dedicated to your girlfriend, though. Tha 2nd verse’s nice, but why you gotta be “on [yo] grizzy,” especially bein’ “busy;” you need ta start textin’! It’s 2014; gotta learn how ta text! Final chance hearin’ tha hook, and this mysterious chick delivers it nicely! My Rating: 3.8

15. “1st Degree” Feat. Spitta & Clever Kev
>>> Back to tha anticipatin’ beat intros… Kickin’ it off wit Spitta on tha 1st verse, comin’ through like he’s tha main artist, here; nice shit! Nice job wit tha gangsta-soundin’ verse, and Level, you sound good on tha hook! Nicely-delivered wit tha flow/voice, and “G-shit,” yeah! Here you are on tha 2nd verse, and although tha rhymes are nice, I’m not inta tha dead references (Nu$$ie) and murderers (George Zimmerman); let’s get off tha dyin’ topic, already, though this a nice joint. Kev on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through, quotin’ Meek Mill; why couldn’t he do that six years and a day ago? That’s when I discovered Meek Mill by a Philly friend; it’s a nice verse, though. And yea, discovered Meek before Badd Nooze! Them were October 2008; Meek was March 13, 2008! What were y’all doin’?! My Rating: 4.5

16. “Rain” Feat. April Reign & Mookie Blakk
>>> Not feelin’ that beat tag in tha beginning, especially that they mentioned “bands”? Wow, how gay!! April on tha hook, here; sounds great, but this ain’t really for me. She belongs in tha dance music world with that great voice, not these kinda gangsta tracks! Here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit randomness? Why all tha money shit? And, though I know you had a kid at least a ½ decade ago, why you got a kid at such an early age? My cousin just got pregnant, and she’s 28; right age to start, especially since she’s married! And, a reference to “rain” with “Hurricane Katrina;” wow… Mookie on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through, again, wit anotha cool flow. Different from tha previous collaboration he was on, but he knows how ta switch it up, correctly! However, I could give a fuck about these “money” rhymes, once again! Even a verse from April on tha 3rd verse… Why her, too, wit tha “money” shit? I thought this was more on a depressin’ side, since it’s called “Rain”? Please, enter tha dance world; she sounds like them ‘90s divas from tha dance world I still feel good over! My Rating: 3.2

17. “I Like ‘Em Hot” Feat. Hot Boy Turk
>>> EQ beat. Much betta than tha previous few jointz! Definitely diggin’ this bounce vibe; good job thinkin’ of this style, EQ! Catchy hook, too; Hot Boy$-like song!! Level on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit dat “hot” shit! Yea, no “money, money, money” references, constantly; “hot” references, instead! “Fuckin’ right” iz right! Really diggin’ tha dirty content in tha hook, too: “Eat dick, swallow tha cum;” wow! Tha dirtier, tha betta fa tha songs! Turk on tha 2nd verse, and this shit’s bangin’!!! Sounds betta than his “It’s Hot” song he released, not too long ago, too!! Just like tha ‘90s reference I made in tha previous joint; this has a ‘90s feel to it, too! Here you are on tha 3rd verse, losin’ tha “hot” repetitiveness, and rappin’ your regular “money” shit, smh… Why a “Bandz A Make Her Dance” reference? At least there’s shit fa tha hoes in this verse, though. This gotta be my 2nd favorite on this CD; can’t get enough of dat beat!!! My Rating: 4.8

18. “Jigg” Feat. Ying Yang Twins
Really? A collab wit them? Bet you ain’t know that I used to work for their old label, TVT Records, as a promoter, from 2004 – 2007? Yup, and it was back when people would answer me, get me things, and more, without a cocky-ass attitude, like today’s people!

They sent me tons of CDs, posters, etc. in tha mail, and even got Pitbull to wish me a happy 17th birthday, on June 21, 2005:

And a happy 18th/graduation, on June 22, 2006!

Quick video samples, right there, but those, I’ll post on YouTube, one day. Anyway, wonder where YYT are, now? I heard they made a “Miley Cyrus”-titled song, recently? But, no noise like tha TVT dayz? I’m sure this’ll still be good, though! >>> SMH @ tha rip-off on tha hook! Da G.A.N.G. (Jiggalaters) “All They Do Is Jigg”! Y’all could’ve came up wit somethin’ betta fa a “Jigg” title! Nice beat, though; it has that early “jigg” sound to it, even though it’s a rip-off! Good job wit tha 1st verse, too, Level; nice job! I kinda forget tha Ying Yang Twins’ names/who was who (D-Roc & um, uh…), but here’s one of ‘em on tha 2nd verse, soundin’ good; great, throwback-soundin’ vibe! Tha otha Ying Yang Twins dude on tha 3rd verse, here; they were on top a decade ago, around this time! “Salt Shaker”, and then, “What’s Happnin’!” came out! “What’s Happnin’!” iz what got me connected with them! I got obsessed wit tha music video, joined tha TVT Records forum in tha Spring of 2004, and began to post updates about how they did on tha MTV2 Hip-Hop Countdown, when they premiered on Music Choice, Hot 97, and more! Those were such great times! I’m still in touch wit tha dude who put me on wit them, too! Though a rip-off, I’m feelin’ this a lot! Great 3rd verse from tha other Ying Yang dude; short verses, too, so I was less-bored! My Rating: 4.6

19. “Poppin’” Feat. Hurricane Chris
>>> Nice track, too; feelin’ tha repetitiveness in tha hook, once again! Level, you’re on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit great club vibes! Again, “money;” *yawn*… Nice job wit tha verse, though. Hurricane on tha 2nd verse, and he sounds so 2007 wit these rhymes, lol? Even referenced his own, 2007 single, “Drop & Gimme 50”; where has he been? Good, energetic voice/verse, at least! Level comin’ through wit a bridge, as well as a 3rd verse; nice job! My Rating: 4.5

20. “Center Of Attention” Feat. Mista Cain
Even got him? *Yawn* Why do people gotta ruin him and make him so tiring, smh? >>> Nice beat, but endin’ wit a boring song, here. Why all these “money” anthems, but I neva seen any in my pocket? How can you not have done services wit me, by now? Makes me wanna just fade away from this fabricated music biz! Cain on tha 1st verse… Boring fa me wit this content, and some of tha flow wit tha pausin’ reminds me of someone else; gay. Here you are on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through, “Mayham Entertainment”—by tha way, what happened to Easy Hustle Entertainment? LOL, I tried to get a hold of Dre, last year. He continued his one-hit-wonder-on-tha-phone shit wit me, as he answered once, but neva was heard from again. No wonder why you ain’t on Easy Hustle, anymore! Nice job wit your verse, though. And, an outro… B…O…R…I…N…G… wit tha C…O…C…K…I…N…E…S…S…! My Rating: 4.0

Overall: I thought this was an entertainin’ CD review. Some major club bangaz and collaborations, along wit songs that were a lil’ too different to fit. Yea, I know it’s an album and not a mixtape, which album cuts belong here, but they weren’t really for me/what I’m used to, fa you. There were also some wack jointz on here. But, overall, a lotta good shit. I really hope someday that people quit obsessin’ “money,” when they ain’t got any! It’s a disease; when will people realize?! I remember on November 21, 2009, when my mom won a stack on a $1 scratch-off. We cashed it, and I held tha money up on camera, or somethin’, and I didn’t like it. I was 21, back then; 21 and I realized flashin’ money was bad!! Think of that, Level!

I honestly felt that “Watch Me” should’ve been #1, based off a first listen, but also, “I Like ‘Em Hot” had that undeniable style, so I had to pick that as my #1!
