Review #427: Down South Hustlers "Bouncin' And Swingin'"

Reviewed on 5.04.2010 (Review #427)

Lemme go ‘head and do anotha review, ya dig! This next review iz for Down South Hustlers; ooh, it’s a compilation!! This tha 1ST compilation on this marathon of mine so this gon be BIG!! It’s “Bouncin’ And Swingin’”; lemme check dis shit out!! Also, there’s two discs; this might be tha 1st double disc review in my marathon too! Review #7 fa today, tiein’ tha record!!

Disc 1: Start Time: 5:11 PM | End Time: 6:16 PM
Disc 2: Start Time: 6:20 PM | End Time: 7:23 PM
Overall: Start Time: 5:11 PM | End Time: 7:23 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. Dayton Family “Stick N Move”
Damn! Almost six minutes on tha length right chea, lol! Let’s see how we gon start dis ma’ off! >>> Tha intro sounds like a GR8 intro fa this CD! Thanx fa tha intro and tha beat DEFINITELY sounds hot here!! Tha rappin’ and flow’s REAL GR8 wit this shit; CRAZY-ASS lyrics too!!! It DOESN’T get mo street than dis!!! Tha long-ass, TIGHT 1st verse was REAL, REAL TIGHT!!! This prolly gon win tha best joint on this CD; I can feel it!! Tha lady on tha hook sounds REAL GOOD wit tha hood-type lyrics!! Damn, mo HOT-ASS SHIT on tha 2nd verse here!!! VERY, VERY HOT!!! Just like tha 1st verse, tha 2nd verse just TOO GOOD wit all tha shit goin’ on!!! Ooh, a nice start ta tha 3rd verse wit tha gutta-ass shit (“leave him in a box”)!! I hear someone else of tha Dayton Family on tha 3rd verse too; GR8 job wit tha conversation!! I even like tha screamin’ at tha end! My Rating: 5.0

02. Eightball & MJG “F’ Dem N’”
I guess this iz a censored version of a title… Looks like it’ll be GR8 though!! >>> I feel tha REAL DARK intro from tha beat here!! NICE start from tha HUGE-ASS Eightball, lol! REAL GR8 rhymes goin’ on here; err-body luvs legends!! Real nice job wit tha 1st verse and tha hook says it all! Here’s dat boy MJG doin’ his thang on tha 2nd verse here; good job, ’95 style!! Kick-ass rhymes goin’ on here; luvin’ it!! Tha big boy 8 on tha 3rd verse here, lol. I had a feelin’ it was gonna be ½ Eightball, ½ MJG on this verse. Eightball did tha damn thang on tha 1st ½ and MJG took it to a much betta level on tha 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse!! My Rating: 4.6

03. UGK Feat. Master P & Silk “Playaz From The South”
Lookin’ like a gr8 collaboration here!! Lemme see how good it iz!! >>> Damn, didn’t see tha HUGE length of a lil’ ova six minutes fa a second!! Tha 1st verse iz comin’ from Bun B, doin’ tha damn thang here wit his Southern flava! LOL, he a daily “nut bussa,” lol! Nice job deliverin’ tha 1st verse and now, tha otha ½ of you, Pimp C, iz on tha hook, doin’ tha damn thang to tha fullest wit his vibe! Let’s see what we got…—LOL, it’s P, comin’ outta nowhere on tha 2nd verse! He has a bunch of good shit dat’s bein’ spit here! Glad he keepin’ tha streetz happy, lol! Tha 3rd verse iz here and it’s from Silk “before “The Shocker””, lol. I like how tha end of tha verse sounds wit tha numberz and shit, definin’ traffickin’. Y’all luv tha Pimp so much, y’all put him on tha 4th verse right chea. Good thang fa him contributin’ ta this shit. Glad tha Pimp talkin’ at tha end too. My Rating: 4.4

04. Chico & 187 “A Lot Auh Nuttin’”
This looks like a real catchy title and a catchy artist name (for a group?); lookin’ forward ta this one!! >>> Cool beat intro and lol @ tha dude on tha 1st verse; I can identify character in his flow! This has a lil’ bit of a G-Funk vs. West Coast feel to it. “A lot auh shit” goin’ on here in tha 1st verse; y’all go through a lot! Comin’ through in a ghetto perspective as he says he, “Had drank at Age 9.” Tha 3rd verse dude comin’ through wit a lotta emotion in his flow when it comes ta deliverin’ this street shit; good job! My Rating: 4.3

05. Commercial
LOL, an intermission, lol? Let’s hear what it has ta say!! >>> Looks like y’all ‘bout ta present somethin’ good… My Rating: N/A

06. Mia X Feat. Suga T “Can’t Trust No Man”
Let’s see what she has ta offer before I go and review her CDs! >>> A lil’ bit of dat “I Got 5 On It” sample here; let’s see how she handles it. Good flow and pretty good song right chea so far; jammin’. Tha hook iz true, especially wit what happened wit my parents. Tha 2nd verse pretty good too; nice rappin’ at 2:14! Nice job continuin’ it on tha 3rd verse too. My Rating: 4.2

07. Joe Blakk “Way Down South”
DEFINITELY lookin’ forward ta his joint on here!!! >>> Luvin’ tha Southern beat here and tha “Girbauds” shit in tha beginning; good shit from whoeva just introduced dis joint! Tha 1st verse sounds good; gr8 voice fa this shit and tha rhymes are on point! LOL @ tha hook; sounds gr8, ya dig! I like tha 2nd verse here, especially at 2:06; “take a trip to Baton Rouge!” DEFINITELY some good shit right chea!! Glad I’m only ½ way through this shit; luvin’ it!! Interestin’ shit at 2:35 wit tha flow and err-thang; nice start to tha 3rd verse! So, he said, “kapas,” huh? I thought dat was a new term my boy Young Maniac just came up wit… Thanx fa me gettin’ ta listen ta dis! My Rating: 4.6

¼time: This CD iz off to a gr8 start!! Definitely enjoyin’ err-body comin’ through on dis bitch!! Tha average CD rating at dis point iz a REAL NICE 4.5!!

08. C-Murder Feat. Master P & Partners-N-Crime “Hustlin’”
Wit ova 5.5 minutes long, this should be REAL, REAL TIGHT!!! >>> Cool beat and some guttaness from C-Murder on tha start!! Definitely for tha streetz right chea; good job, C!! Tha hook sounds G-Funky! Tha 2nd verse sounds good here; I like tha “lyrics / spinach” line; good shit! Ooh, a 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse here! It contributed gr8 to tha track!! I really enjoyed tha flow and this topic’s just doin’ tha damn thang here! Here’s tha 3rd verse from Master P, soundin’ good on this too. I like his flow and his street lyrics too. I like tha part at 4:56 when tha hook sings, “Gotta support me and my hoe,” lol. My Rating: 4.6

09. P.K.O. “Got It Sowed Up”
Oh, so there was a title like this eight years before tha Mike Jones one! Let’s see what this version sounds like… >>> Tha hook sounds catchy. Tha 1st verse pretty good wit tha shit dat’s bein’ spit. Tha 2nd ½ of tha 1st verse must be someone else from P.K.O. wit a betta voice. I hear tha 2nd verse and it up’d tha content here to some hot shit!! Definitely interestin’ and now, it’s tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse wit some good shit also! Durin’ tha last minute of tha song, tha 1st 15 seconds sounded pretty good and now, I hear an outro within tha last 40 seconds; pretty good. My Rating: 4.0

10. Tre-8 Feat. Master P “Fright Night”
I thought I knew this one but I guess I don’t… I know who Tre-8 iz so let’s see how HOT this iz!! >>> Tha type of beat intro I would expect ta luv! Ooh, tha start to tha 1st verse comin’ through REAL, REAL RAW!!!!! CRAZY-ASS SHIT COMIN’ FROM TRE-8!!!!! DEFINITELY IZ “Fright Night” in dis bitch right now!! Tha 2nd verse has tha REAL FAST-ASS rappin’ continuin’ wit nothin’ but REAL SHIT right chea!! I would LUV ta radio edit dis and show err-body I can radio edit at any pace! Tha 3rd verse sounds like Master P but there’s no feature listed… Much slower on tha pace but it sounds gr8, of course!! Matta fact, I believe it iz Master P so I gon source him! My Rating: 4.9

11. Skull Duggrey “Darkside”
Ooh, some Skull Duggrey (or iz it Duggery?)! I first heard him on Nu$$ie’s 2007 single, “Dumb Way,” and he also friend requested me last year on MySpace. Let’s see what he’s got on this song, ’95 style!! >>> Ooh, Christmas-type in tha beat sounds! Tha beat sounds REAL HOT here; luv tha sounds!! I didn’t expect him ta sound like this on tha 1st verse but he doin’ tha damn thang to tha fullest!! Go Skull Duggrey!!! DEFINITELY a NICE job done wit tha 1st verse and now, I hear tha hook. Tha hook DEFINITELY on sum true-ass shit wit err-thang happenin’ “in tha darkside;” gutta!! I agree wit tha start to tha 2nd verse; “bitch niggaz don’t flinch!” It’s a rough ghetto out there! FUCK! I didn’t realize this joint was only 2:21 on tha length! My Rating: 4.7

12. C-Loc “Who Am I?”
This title was kept fa this CD… Glad it made this CD; “Burger King!!” Loc has ANOTHA bangin’ beat intro!!! Glad this one’s almost five minutes long!! Ooh, here he comes through on tha 1st verse, “Wantin’ thangz his way,” Burger King style!! ROUGH & RAW C-LOC!!! REAL RAW wit tha “boom, muthafucka, boom! His whole body’s numb” part; he has BUKU quotes, ya dig!! DEFINITELY keepin’ it hot fa tha streetz too on tha 2nd verse also, ya feel me! I DEFINITELY feel how he’s comin’ through on EVERY track to tha fullest!! Comin’ through wit a hustlin’ perspective to tha fullest on tha 3rd verse right chea; luvin’ it (as always)!! LOL, wit only 35 seconds left, it sounds like my boy Young Bleed at tha end! My Current Rating: 4.8

13. Magnolia Slim Feat. Six Shot “You Got It”
Let’s see what this Slim has ta offer… I know I heard of him once before even though I know a lotta people wit Magnolia in their name… >>> Sounds like a C-Loc sound wit tha beat style here; good start! Ooh, a catchy hook here; glad there’s an automatic catchy hook finally! Definitely interestin’ rhymes goin’ on here too, ya dig! DEFINITELY a large amount of shit spit in tha 1st verse alone, ya feel me! What’s wit tha quietness afta tha 1st verse? What happened? Here comes anotha verse (tha 2nd one), doin’ tha damn thang here wit a gangsta style!! REALLY on tha gangsta tip here; there’s NO calmin’ down wit tha rhymes!! My Rating: 4.7

14. CCG Feat. Master P & Silk “R.I.P.”
“R.I.P”in’ for tha end? Let’s see what we got here… >>> Doesn’t even sound depressin’ for an endin’; I know people are GR8 at disappointin’ me wit depressin’ endings to CDs at times but this ain’t depressin’ enough fa me ta not like it. Tha beat’s cool and laid-back. Master P sounds good on tha 1st verse here wit a lotta good emotion! Tha 2nd verse came outta nowhere and has a bunch of rhymes bein’ spit here (fast style)! Tha 3rd verse keeps tha fastness goin’ on here and has good rhymes describin’ tha typical hood. Tha 4th verse has more of a slower vibe for this song, which I guess iz good. My Rating: 4.1

½time: DEFINITELY GR8 for a compilation!! Lookin’ forward ta Disc 2!!

Up next iz Disc 2; here I go like Mystikal, lol!! Start Time: 6:20 PM | End Time: 7:23 PM

01. Gangsta T Feat. Silk & Master P “Bounce That Azz”
This looks like an upliftin’ start to tha next disc! DEFINITELY gonna prolly feel dis one right chea, ya dig! >>> LOL @ tha start; DEFINITELY P’d out, lol! Feelin’ this Bounce beat wit tha crazy hook! LOL, tha Bounce sound disappered once tha 1st verse started wit P on it, lol! I like tha “Brandy” part in tha 1st verse, P; good job wit this verse! Tha 2nd verse iz here and based off of how it sounds in Gangsta T’s voice, it reminds me of someone at least 200 pounds, lol. Definitely sounds pretty good on this shit; nice job contributin’! LOL, here comes Silk on tha 3rd verse, deliverin’ a REAL GR8 flow on this shit! Even tha 4th verse comin’ through quickly sounds gr8 on this shit too! Tha last 100 seconds iz here and it sounds like it’s mainly a bridge of hoods and states bein’ shouted out; good shit! Nice start to Disc 2 right chea! My Rating: 4.5

02. Coop MC “My Woman”
I don’t know why this wasn’t included in tha folder I have but lemme look it up and see if I can hear it online… *Checks* Yes, it’s on YouTube! >>> Interestin’ start here; sounds like Avant/KeKe Wyant (sp?) “My First Love” in tha beat a lil’ bit. Tha rappin’s cool here and it sounds gr8! Tha hook sounds interestin’ wit tha singin’ on it too. Tha 2nd verse has interestin’ lyrics in it; good job. Tha 3rd verse continues wit where tha otha verses left off wit tha catchy lyrics. My Rating: 3.9

03. Fire “Gettin’ High”
Looks like a familiar title but I think this iz an unknown one fa me; DEFINITELY lookin’ forward ta it!!! >>> Not bad of a beat start here; pretty catchy. Tha 1st verse aight but tha hook sounds much betta; glad he’s “gettin’ high” to tha fullest! BTW, I like his name, Fire; interestin’ to have an element as his name! Tha 2nd verse breezed by quickly and shit, this iz a short-ass song of only 2:36… Shit, I like how tha word “bruh” was last in tha hook; good shit, ya dig! Even though this shit iz short, there’s room for a 3rd verse! Keepin’ it Southern to tha fullest on this shit! Thumbs up ta tha chokin’ at tha end; got luv fa y’all!! My Rating: 4.4

04. 20-2-Life Feat. PSK-13 “Backstreets”
I wonder what all these numbaz are doin’ here in tha artist names… Looks like I’ll look forward ta this wit almost six minutes on tha length! >>> Tha beginning wit tha “*inhale* Shit” part sounded like a nice transition from tha last song on here! Pretty strong hood lyrics goin’ on here in tha 1st verse; nothin’ to be fucked wit! I hear tha next part (EDIT: it’s tha hook) and it sounds pretty good… Tha 2nd verse iz here and yea, “visionin’ a street life;” I feel you! Tha lyrics are interestin’ in this verse; real catchy! I like tha “viking” part and lol @ tha “nuts” part; too much here, ya dig! LOL, what’s wit tha remainin’ 2:31? Iz there gonna be anotha verse? It sounds like an endin’… Okay, there’s a 3rd verse here and I can analyze tha hoodness in tha voice, ya dig! I thought it was tha hook fa a second but it’s a verse, soundin’ good. My Rating: 4.2

05. Mr. Serv-On “Handle Your Business”
Good thing he made this CD too! Let’s see what we got goin’ on here… >>> Sounds like an attitude in tha beginning; should be good fa this CD! I hear tha beat kick in good and Mr. Serv-On doin’ his thang on tha 1st verse; good job usin’ your attitude fa this! I hear tha hook and it’s true: “Handle your business. Don’t let your business handle you;” agreed! Tha 2nd verse sounds good too; keepin’ this shit up iz good! Good rhymes once again are goin’ through tha 3rd verse on this joint right chea. My Rating: 4.3

06. Po.Lo “Down South Thugs”
Luvin’ tha Po.Lo name! I wonder what tha outcome’ll be on this joint? >>> Sounds like an anticipatin’ intro!! Ooh, tha voice DEFINITELY pretty tight here wit tha gutta-ass rhymes ta go wit it!! Tha hook iz DEFINITELY grimy too; good shit, my dawg! Nice job wit tha 2nd verse too on this shit; he’s DEFINITELY on lock wit tha voice here!! Hope he did tha damn thang in tha streetz for a while wit some CDs and shit like dat!! Even a 3rd verse fit onta this shit right chea; crazy shit! My Rating: 4.7

¾time: This CD’s off to a good start but tha last one was betta so far. Even look at tha average CD rating currently; it’s only at 4.3. I still look forward to tha last six jointz!

07. Sir True “Don’t Underestimate Me”
I wonder who this Sir dude iz… >>> Ooh, Master P in tha intro here; good collaboration! Tha 1st verse sounds pretty good here wit this good beat; nice and on tha gangsta tip! Tha hook sounds cool; likin’ tha content in it and tha 2nd verse even has a gr8 vibe to this joint too. Wit tha 3rd verse here, it sounds pretty catchy! I like how he screams in tha middle of tha verse; DEFINITELY gr8 ta add a lil’ bit of an attitude/emotion! My Rating: 4.5

08. Tre-8 Feat. Mia X & Master P “So Much Pain”
I don’t like a title like this so let’s see what’ll happen wit Tre-8 on it… >>> Now this iz depressin’ unlike tha last song on tha last CD! Kinda odd for tha sample but lemme just comment tha rappin’ here… Pretty good rappin’/rhymes from P in tha 1st verse here and tha beat sounds betta at :37! Not really into tha hook; nothin’ goin’ on wit it anyway. Mia X’s on tha 2nd verse and even though I’m not too interested inta tha song itself, she has a good flow at least. Here’s Tre-8 on tha 3rd verse, spittin’ some good shit wit a good voice fa this shit. My Rating: 3.1

09. A.G.A.S. “The South”
I like tha name here so let’s see how good it iz! >>> Thumbs up ta tha gurl in tha beginning. Tha rhymes sound REAL catchy on tha 1st verse; a lotta shit bein’ spit here!! Tha hook sounds good too, especially wit tha title soundin’ screwed, ya dig. I’m likin’ all tha “ah’s” at tha end of some of tha lines in tha 2nd verse; good shit!! Speakin’ of “L.A.,” it almost sounds like a Los Angeles vibe in tha 3rd verse wit tha way tha voice/flow sounds; pretty good joint right chea. My Rating: 4.2

10. Hounds From Gert-Town “Murder Weapon”
Ooh, keepin’ dat street shit comin’!! DEFINITELY gonna look forward ta this one!! >>> Ooh, a dark voice fa tha start here! This should DEFINITELY be tight!! Nice job wit tha quick 1st verse and tha hook sounds REAL GOOD right chea; DEFINITELY feelin’ tha catchiness!! Tha 2nd verse sounds like he keepin’ it REAL gutta here to tha fullest!! DEFINITELY feelin’ tha gangsta lyrics too!! Tha rest of this joint held it down too, ya dig! My Rating: 4.7

11. Niggas Out The Ghetto “G’s Stay Real”
I believe dis my boyz N.O.G. (Murdafeen, I see you, big dawg)!! I can tell ‘cause I looked at tha cover and it said dat N.O.G. was featured on this bitch! DEFINITELY anticipatin’ this one!! >>> Feelin’ nice and good ta hear this!! Ooh, there’s a gurl on tha hook; good shit! I’m likin’ tha way this sounds wit tha quality and err-thang! Tha beat iz on point and err-thang here, ya dig! I hear tha 1st verse and I’m DEFINITELY enjoyin’ how it’s comin’ through on tha track! I’m hearin’ tha 2nd verse now and it’s DEFINITELY on tha “real” tip here; keepin’ it real 100% of tha time!! I hope there’s a 3rd verse… Oh shit, yes, there iz and it’s my ma’fuckin’ boy Murdafeen!!! Shit-fuckin’-yeah!!! This iz DEFINITELY a royal voice right chea, doin’ tha damn thang to tha fullest!!! Crazy-ass shit bein’ spit here wit a crazy-ass pace!! It just makes me feel SO blessed ta talk ta him afta I wrote in tha N.O.G. review dat, “Keep doin’ tha damn thang (if y’all still around);” glad I got dat boy Murdafeen on my side!!! Murdafeen’s verse just REALLY made me wanna rate this a lil’ higher than what I was originally gonna rate it!! My Rating: 4.5

12. Pointt Blankk Feat. DJ Screw “My Mind Went Blank (Screwed)”
Ooh, endin’ it wit a “screwed” song! This a surprise right chea, ya dig!! >>> R.I.P. DJ Screw; already 10 years… This hook/intro sounds GR8! It sounds sad when you hear tha sounds screwed almost… Tha 1st verse sounds good here, nice and screwed, ya dig! Gr8 Southern rhymes and lifestyle!! Tha 2nd verse sounds just as good, yet I luv tha “tell tha judge I’m lyrical” part; very dedicated!! Tha 3rd verse has a catchy flow on this shit too; nice job wit tha collaboration wit DJ Screw! Even before 50 Cent, y’all were “laughin’ to tha bank!” My Rating: 4.6

Overall: I thought tha 2nd disc had a nice comeback towards tha end! I REALLY was surprised of an N.O.G. song!! I REALLY hope they have more than just tha three songs I heard!! They have tha 1st 90’s song (“Life Worth Livin’”) dat I eva played on my radio show (thanx ta Murdafeen for makin’ me really wanna air it on tha radio up here)!

Review #259: N.O.G. "Life Worth Livin'"

Reviewed on 7.07.2009 (Review #259)

Wahhhhh! Ya boy FrankieThaLuckyDog here! 'Bout ta get into tha 3rd review fa tha day: N.O.G. "Life Worth Livin'"! It's an EP, so this'll be a quick one! Start Time: 9:04 PM | End Time: 9:15 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

01. "Life Worth Livin'"
Lemme check this joint out; lookin' REAL forward ta it!! >>> Not bad start here... Ooh, "sell that dope," so you KNOW I luv my drug dealin' rhymes!! Pretty good 1st verse, and tha beat iz not bad. Reminds me a lil' of Wu-Tang. I like on tha 2nd verse that you said "P-I-P-E;" nice lil' catch there. Pretty good job on tha 2nd verse right chea. Let's see what we got fa tha 3rd verse... Sounds pretty sad ta hear about tha "no roof ova yo head," as well as "wearin' tha same ol' smelly shit." Damn, I wish I could help you right now, ya dig! REALLY liked that 3rd verse, and I hope you're still around right now 'cause it would be cool ta talk ta you and shit, ya feel me! I liked tha long, beat ending. My Rating: 4.0

02. "Life Worth Livin' (Radio)"
Just a radio edit I see... This would be good fa my radio shift hopefully comin' Fall 2009 at my college! See #1 fa tha review!

½time: I only reviewed 1 song, lol. I wonder what tha next song iz, lol...?

03. "N.O.G. Is The Name"
I like that title; let's see what we got here... >>> Just hearin' you in tha beginning goin' "yeaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!" and "real-ass niggaz," then I'm DEFINITELY lookin' forward ta this! Tha 1st verse here iz soundin' more on tha gangsta tip; thumbs up! Wow, "at tha age of 12, you rolled wit tha killaz;" you must be a strong dude that don't take shit from people! Really enjoyin' tha voice on tha 2nd verse; great, undaground shit right chea! Definitely enjoyed tha 2nd verse right there!! Really lookin' forward ta more! I want mo verses from you like drugs, ya dig! You did yo thang on tha 3rd verse, just deliverin' consistent shit; I feel you on that! I thought a 4th verse would fit wit 1:02 left, but, it looks like it gon be an outro. Nice shit right chea! My Rating: 3.9
