Review #1,667: Doobie Smoov "Make The World Lean"

Reviewed on 3.03.2017 (Review #1,667)

Straight outta Alexandria, here goes my next review: Doobie Smoov Make The World Lean, released in 1998 on Suicide Records & was produced by Chris Jacobs, Brian Samuel, DJ Fry, Eric Whelan, Bass B & Bobby Smith! Start Time: 2:07 AM | End Time: 2:54 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. 01. “Make The World Lean” feat. Big Mal
>>> A fast-soundin’ southern beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s nice, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds like randomness, but it’s good… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s nice ta hear, too… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, as well, soundin’ nice, here… My Rating: 4.1

02. “Crunk21G” feat. Big Mal & H.A.W.K.
>>> Sounds nice wit this “trunk pop” and gettin’ “crunk,” here; good hook and beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s good, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, and it sounds good, too… And, a 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice, too… Tha “Screwed Up Click?” Could this be tha H.A.W.K. feature? Sounds like a young H.A.W.K. at that! My Rating: 4.0

03. “Nasty Hoes”
>>> Sounds like a catchy track about them “nasty hoes,” here; good hook & beat! Diggin’ tha energy! Nice job wit tha 1st verse, here, keepin’ it movin’… Now, we got tha 2nd verse, here, and it sounds good, too… My Rating: 4.1

04. “I Don’t Give A Fuck” feat. Big Mal & 2Phace
>>> “I Don’t Give A Fuck”? Sounds like a smooth lil’ hook, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad, here… And, tha 2nd verse has a nice lil’ H-Town feel to it, here… Don’t really have much ta say about these rhymes, since my track titles are mixed up, but it’s nice, overall… Nice lil’ bridge about tha “yellowbone,” lol… And, a 3rd verse, soundin’ decent, here… My Rating: 4.0

05. “Smokefest”
>>> I’m really feelin’ this beat, here, wit how one of those sounds sound! Definitely a nice lil’ shmoke song, here!! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I’m feelin’ tha fucked-up perspective you got goin’ on, here! Good “smokefest,” here! A female on tha hook, here, soundin’ nice ta hold this down… And, tha 2nd verse’s here, soundin’ nice, too… Good shit goin’ on throughout tha 3rd verse, too, here… My Rating: 4.4

06. “Southside Representing” feat. Big Mal
>>> Sounds like a smooth hook and beat, here; good shit! Tha 1st verse ain’t bad, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s straight, too… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s pretty nice, too; I can hear tha H-Townness… My Rating: 4.1

½time: A 4.1-rated CD, here; good, but nothin’s really strikin’ me, here…

07. Commercial feat. Big Mal & DJ Fry
>>> Sounds like this actually iz a commercial; nice… My Rating: N/A

08. Thank It’s A Game feat. Desparado & Tyte Wyte
>>> Nice skit? My Rating: N/A

09. “Mr. Backdoe” feat. Big Mal
>>> Decent sound, here…; hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s decent… Hearin’ tha hook and it aight, but where’s tha title parts in these songs? Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s straight… My Rating: 3.7

10. “Crunk”
>>> Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s decent wit this slow vibe… Sounds like a dope hook, here, but are all these titles pushed over by one (e.g., “crunk” on tha hook)? I’ono, but this how I got tha CD… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s not bad, here… I’m diggin’ tha high on tha 3rd verse, here; good shit… If these titles ain’t right, I’ll have to fix it, one day… For now, I’m just reviewin’ it in tha order it’s in… My Rating: 4.2

11. “Pimps & Playas” feat. Desparado & Herb Luva
>>> Diggin’ this beat sounds, here; pretty nice… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s nice, here… Tha hook sounds decent wit tha “pimps, playas, ballers & hustlaz,” here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s straight, too… Tha rest of this ain’t bad, here; decent… My Rating: 3.9

12. FryStick feat. DJ Fry
>>> This a skit; not bad… My Rating: N/A

13. “So Real” feat. D.P.
>>> A slow beat, here, soundin’ nice… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad… “So real wit this muthafuckin’ playa shit…;” funky, smooth hook, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s decent, here… Tha 3rd verse decent, too… Wow, tha final hook faded out quickly, after tha verse was done… My Rating: 3.8

Overall: Nice CD, overall; too bad tha titles were mixed up on my files… But, I got most of ‘em fixed…

Review #1,557: Doobie Smoov "Dream Of Death"

Reviewed on 9.30.2016 (Review #1,557)

Keepin’ it goin’ wit Alexandria’s Doobie Smoov Dream Of Death, up next, released in 1996 on Graveyard Records! Start Time: 6:39 PM | End Time: 7:10 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! 01. Ready II Die
>>> Lol, just a five-second intro…; get ready fa dis gangsta shit! My Rating: N/A

02. “Mass Murder”
>>> Feelin’ tha beat, as it’s undaground and jammin’, at tha same time. Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and you got this shit on lock! Feelin’ how you holdin’ tha south down! Tha Xandria! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty anthemic about tha “shot!” Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and you have tha consistent, gangsta rhymes on lock, here! Definitely diggin’ what you bringin’ to tha table! Tight, acapella shit from 2:27 – 2:31! Tha 3rd verse pretty gutta, too; “it just won’t stop!” My Rating: 4.5

03. “Crunk”
Yeah! >>> Despite tha title, it’s laidback, here, but I’m feelin’ it! Nice lil’ slow beat throughout tha track, here, and tha 1st verse’s pretty nice! Feelin’ how it almost sounds like you deliverin’ a paranoid-type flow, here, with tha lyrics! Even down to tha hook: I’m diggin’ it, despite it bein’ so opposite of “crunk,” lol! Really diggin’ it! I luv bein’ “crunk,” I luv bein’ “high,” I luv bein’ anything positive! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear, too… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, too! “What chu gon do when tha weed run out?” I know, right? You know how it be when you have a stressful job! Gotta shmoke in moderation! How’d I go nine dayz without, so far? Dem reviewz, lol! Still, workin’ six dayz a week, you need sum’n, sum’n!! Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 3rd verse and “five blunts.” That sounds nice but nothin’ like chillin’ wit this 49-year-old chick I know! We shmoked 6 ½ bowls on August 18, in honor of my boy, Percy Keith’s birthday (Baton Rouge rapper)!! Undeniable!! I think she shmoked one bowl more than me ‘cause I had a headache that day!! Yeah, I’m outdone, at times! Great job wit tha verse, tho! My Rating: 4.7

04. Without Sin
[No preview due to it played without me knowin’…] >>> Nice; great way ta lead inta “No Love”!! My Rating: N/A

½time: Excellent, dark, gangsta release, here! A 4.6-rated tape, so far!! Gotta luv how you handle tha tracks!! You know what I be diggin’, ya dig?!

05. “No Love”
>>> “Love” tha beginning with tha singin’ of tha title!! I remember radio-editin’ this! Definitely luvin’ tha dark beat, here!! Tha 1st verse’s jammin’; makes me miss my radio show! Tha dark vibe! Tha dark station!! Can’t believe it’s been over four years!! Anotha rapper like Busta Rhymes, strictly hooked on dat “Courvoisier!!” Lol!! Tha actual hook sounds decent, here; feelin’ tha uncredited singer! Tha 2nd verse’s nice; crazy wit tha “J-O-B!” Sometimes, it always makes me think, I wish I had my freedom back, instead of tha “J-O-B!” We’ll let time tell dat! My Rating: 4.6

06. “So Real”
>>> Beat’s nice and laidback; gotta feel it! These “rules” remind me of Biggie or somethin’; keep it goin’ wit tha 1st verse! Tha hook’s catchy with tha singer, once again, holdin’ shit down! When I hear or see tha word, “Real,” I always think of my ex-connect, DJ B-“Real!” Always miss him every fuckin’ day and wish he would unblock me/reconnect wit me, already!! Anyway, keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, and it’s soundin’ nice, too… Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 3rd verse and it’s soundin’ nice, as well; undeniable…! My Rating: 4.4

07. “Dream Of Death”
It’s sad how ever since my brother died, last year, this iz sadly what goes through my mind, especially while high! Time’s flyin’!! I’m fuckin’ 28!! >>> I can agree with my paranoia and tha vibe in tha beat, here! Definitely sounds nice and dark! Gotta luv how tha 1st verse sounds! Definitely feelin’ your “drug dealers” “reality” that you be dealin’ with! I wish I was high reviewin’ this! I’m shmokin’ wit a chick 2morrow in 24 hours & 4 minutes, lol (7:05 PM)! I’m just in a hurry ta get these reviewz done while I work six dayz a week and do other shit, too (playlists, uploads, etc.)! Hook’s just a beat; definitely feelin’ it!! Tha 2nd verse sounds like an uncredited feature? Either way, definitely excellent with how it sounds!! “Little does he know…;” excellent emotion at 2:38!!! Diggin’ this long-ass verse!! So glad it’s long and doesn’t end, too! This that quality shit that’s long! Like, really? It’s 6:03? Doesn’t seem like it!! My Rating: 4.8

08. “Breakdown”
>>> Back to tha laidback shit and I’m definitely feelin’ this slow hook! Definitely dat quality shit while high, ya know?! “Picture me paranoid;” excellent way ta describe tha 1st verse!! Would I be afraid of tha clowns that are out, now? My move: Just keep it movin’! Don’t worry ‘bout shiiiiiit!! Only one verse? Really held it down fa only one!! My Rating: 4.3

Overall: Ain’t expect it ta end so fast, due to I thought there was anotha track, lol! But, definitely one of tha best releases I’ve reviewed recently, outta my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon!! Luved tha dark vibes, tha intense shit goin’ on, tha rhymes you brought to tha table & everythang else! Great job, Doobie Smoov! I know there’s anotha CD/tape of yours in my marathon, during tha ‘90s! Can’t wait ta review it! I know you still grindin’; keep it up!!

Review #1,280: FrankieThaLuckyDog Presents "Tha Louisiana Archives Vol. 13: Tha DJ B-Real Aisle"

Reviewed on 3.27.2013 (Review #1,280)

Got my 13th mixtape compilation up next for review: FrankieThaLuckyDog Presents Tha Louisiana Archives Vol. 13: Tha DJ B-Real Aisle (Hosted by FrankieThaLuckyDog)! Named this CD after workin’ in my dad’s store, as well as tha growin’ connection I’m developin’ wit DJ B-Real. Start Time: 1:16 PM | End Time: 1:29 PM

Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it! After I was robbed by an artist who claimed they “get money,” hearin’ about how much you “got money” and anything “money” really bothers me. If you have not done business wit me before, I won’t tolerate “money” talk in tha music!!

Review #1,248: Doobie Smoov "Get Blowed"

Reviewed on 1.31.2013 (Review #1,248)

Tha reviewz are rollin’ on, non-stop! This next one iz a ‘90s rapper; I have a feelin’ he’ll get in touch wit me soon ‘cause lots of ‘90s rappers from Louisiana are discoverin’ me! Now wit Smoov Moov Media Group, here’s Doobie Smoov—outta dat Alexandria—Get Blowed; very anticipated fa dis!!! Start Time: 10:53 AM | End Time: 11:54 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! © 2013 CD Review (Review #1,248) reviewed on 1.31.2013 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. Intro
Let’s kick this ma’fukka off!! >>> Sounds pretty hot for an intro beat, courtesy of an unknown producer, lol! My Rating: N/A

02. “Throwed 16” Feat. T.Y.P. & Big Mal
Bobby Staxz on tha beat; let’s hear this collab! >>> Beat sounds like a regular production of today, which could be better—more Louisiana, I should say! But, these rhymes on tha 1st verse sounds good, can’t complain… Tha 2nd dude on this sounds okay; not bad… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse, and it sounds like this dude’s “on tha grind,” as he says. This iz startin’ ta be kinda mainstreamish… A singer on tha 4th part? Flow’s okay, but I’m scared some a-tune might come out… However, I did like that it ended wit tha title. My Rating: 3.7

03. “Get Blowed”
Title track; Rouge 5 doin’ tha beat, here… >>> Sounds like nice music fa tha unknown; nice start, feelin’ like a ‘90s rapper once again! Definitely likin’ tha 1st verse, and tha hook’s pretty nice; gotta “get blowed,” ya dig?! Who doesn’t? Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ good, too, strictly soundin’ tha way I want you to sound! Keep that undaground shit alive!! My Rating: 4.4

04. “No Mo”
Anotha Rouge 5 beat! >>> Likin’ tha beat start and this undaground atmosphere! Sounds like a good 1st verse; tha fear of “runnin’ outta money!” I like how tha hook’s about not “runnin’ from tha police no mo;” good shit! Tha beat’s nice and quiet wit not much goin’ on; it doesn’t have ta be tha tightest beat in tha world ta catch attention ‘cause it’s catchin’ lots of attention, here! Sometimes, you sound a lil’ like Young Bleed on this track; I’m diggin’ it! Fat Pat-soundin’ 2nd verse? Has a Texas voice/feel to it, and I’m feelin’ it, once again!! My Rating: 4.5

05. “Still Smoking” Feat. Big Hawk, Big Pokey & DJ Michael 5000 Watts
Rouge 5 beat! H-Town in tha buildin’; this should be interestin’… >>> Wow, sounds like a nice revival fa H-Town wit tha Mike Watts beginning! Good shit in tha 1st verse; reppin’ nicely, from H-Town ta tha Boot! Tha hook sounds nice; gotta luv anything ‘bout “smoking,” ya heard me?! Tha 2nd verse sounds good wit this interestin’ voice; undaground at its finest!! Big Pokey on tha 3rd verse? Sounds great for a collaboration!! I know Mon Mack, my boy outta Baton Rouge, iz cool wit Big Pokey, too… My Rating: 4.6

06. “Lift Weight” Feat. E.S.G. & Kevin Gates
Rouge 5…; looks like an anticipatin’ collaboration, once again, from H-Town to tha Boot! >>> Very nice beat, here!! Tha hook’s real interestin’ wit how it sounds; good-ass shit!! Startin’ wit E.S.G. on tha 1st verse; sounds real nice ta hear him, once again! Seems like he neva disappoints; always holdin’ down tha streetz!! Can’t believe it’s been 10 years since I discovered him; where’d tha time go??? Here’s you on tha 2nd verse and it sounds like you got an H-Town blend in your voice, here; figures, you can camouflage into anything on tha track! That’s a plus! We got Kevin Gates on tha 3rd verse, and this iz more like it fa him! I know he’s been attemptin’ to capture a mainstream audience wit his new music, but this sounds like tha undaground Gates that I knew!! Real nice rhymes, consistently! However, he jacked one of Nu$$ie’s songs or somethin’ wit tha “rocket launcher” part; went on for a few lines, but it fits this undaground environment! My Rating: 4.7

½time: Definitely feelin’ this CD, so far!! Of course, if I purchased it, you know it had ta be worth my money!! Lots of undaground vibes on this CD; major props fa it!!! So far, tha CD rating’s at a 4.4!!!!

07. “Drug Game”
Rouge-to-tha-5 on tha B-to-tha-E-to-tha-A-to-tha-T!! >>> Nice beginning; glad you’re not in a sellout perspective fa dat 2012!! Nice job wit tha 1st verse; you deliverin’ nothin’ but dat G-shit fa tha streetz!! Fuck all those mainstream, soft-ass rappers! You got a voice that’s still goin’ strong, no matter how old you are! You’re prolly at a key age of 32 – 37, right now; ain’t nothin’ wrong wit dat age range ‘cause tha people that fuck wit me at that age are usually legends!! Tha 2nd verse sounds pretty good, too; keep spittin’, keep preachin’, keep doin’ you!! Tha 3rd verse sounds real nice, too; talk about dat real-life shit, especially gettin’ “in tha car!” My Rating: 4.3

08. “Jig Bow” Feat. Big Mal & Bay Bay Ambassador
Bobby Staxz beat. A Bay Bay in tha buildin’, lol… >>> Nice intro; great shit from tha Bay Bay!! Ehh, not that mainstream shit on tha 1st verse! Neva mention “swag!!” E.S.G., where are you? Tha hook sounds okay for a club song, but it’s nothin’ strong or anythang… Tha 2nd verse sounds too mainstreamish wit tha voice; not really into these lyrics too much… Finally, better lyrics in tha 3rd verse about tha “parish.” My Rating: 3.1

09. “#1smelllikeaPound”
Rouge 5 beat; I like this title, lol! >>> Yes, back to tha undaground shit again!! Feelin’ this hook; I feel like I’m in tha ‘90s by hearin’ this!! I like tha hidden bounce bassline in tha background, too! Also, likin’ your rappin’ and fast style on tha 1st verse, here; keep it up!! Tha 2nd verse sounds good to listen to, too! Smellin’ “like a pound” iz tha best way ta feel, ya feel me? *Goes and sniffs Doobie Smoov ta get a high, lol!* Tha 3rd verse sounds good; a lil’ shorter, but you providin’ dat kush cologne to tha Gs, once again! My Rating: 4.4

10. “Out Of My Nose” Feat. Big Mal
Rouge 5 production; let’s hear this kinda title… >>> So far, a good intro; we’ll see how this kinda track prevails… Okay, tha 1st verse sounds like it’s tha ‘90s, here; nice job… Even likin’ Mal on tha hook; anotha song about tha album’s title (Get Blowed)!! Tha 2nd verse sounds nice, too; who wouldn’t wanna get high wit you, Doobie? Would luv to kick it wit chu one day, bruh! Tha 3rd verse sounds good, too, keepin’ this high shit goin’!! And, a lil’ extra part from Mal toward tha end; sniff, sniff, sniff!! My Rating: 4.5

11. “Don’t Test Me”
Rouge 5 track, again! >>> Sounds like a good album cut, for a start… Beat’s nice and quiet, focusin’ on your rhymes… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ good, too, keepin’ tha shit goin’. Oh yea, tha hook sounds pretty nice wit intimidatin’ people; how can anyone mess wit you tha wrong way, Smoov? Good shit comin’ outta tha 3rd verse, too; what else can I say ‘bout this track? My Rating: 4.2

12. “Say What” Feat. Pauleone Da Darkchild
Endin’ it wit a Rouge 5 beat; lookin’ forward to this feature! >>> Nice beat; I’m likin’ tha hook wit this, “say what? Fuck-nigga, say what (say what?)?,” shit… Good shit comin’ outta tha 1st verse; sounds like you’re havin’ a party on this beat, but intimidatin’ tha otha dude hatin’! Tha 2nd verse sounds nice, too, lurin’ tha enemies to “tha Boot!” Yea, Darkchild comin’ through on tha 3rd verse, “Louisiana style;” gotta include “Louisiana” in tha “style!!” He sounds good—nice and consistent wit dis shit!! He ain’t stoppin’; hope he has a great future wit dis rap shit!! Holla at me!! My Rating: 4.3

Overall: Well, this was a real good CD that I enjoyed a whole lot!! Except for two songs, this CD iz tha perfect example of a quintessential, undaground album of tha 2010s generation!! Yes, I said, “album,” not no dumb ‘mixtape!!’ Keep up tha great work, Smoov!! Keep thinkin’ undaground ‘cause peeps like me gon keep showin’ you respect!!
