R.I.P. Video #41: Chuck Temple (Big Boy Records)

Recorded September 21, 2015

Broadcasting from tha Port Jeff Pits here in Port Jefferson Station, NY, it's ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog here, reportin' anotha tragic loss in tha undaground, Louisiana rap community...

Raymond Temple, Jr., known to tha industry as Big Chucc, passed away from a heart attack on Monday, September 21, 2015, only turning 48 just five dayz prior. Temple was known for starting one of tha biggest underground record labels in New Orleans called Big Boy Records, alongside Leroy "Precise" Edwards, in 1993. Tha label was responsible for dozens of classic releases throughout tha '90s and multiple parts of tha 2000s, ranging from Black Menace, to G-Slimm, to Fiend, to Mystikal, to Partners-N-Crime, to Sporty-T, to tha Ghetto Twiinz & more. Tha label's buzz even generated some beef between Cash Money Records, as fellow N'awlinzer, B.G., released tha track, "Fuck Big Boy", in '95. Review #1,012: TreDay Presents "Louisiana's Time (Part 3)"

Reviewed on 6.29.2011 (Review #1,012)

Slowly doin’ these reviewz but tha month ain’t ova, yet! This 1st one for today iz TreDay Presents “Louisiana’s Time (Part 3)”, which I’m a part of! :clap Start Time: 10:43 AM | End Time: 11:17 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

Lookin’ forward ta hearin’ what he gon say! >>> Sounds good via phone, reppin’ for you! My Rating: N/A

02. Louisiana Ca$h Feat. Bad Azz Ent. “From Louisiana”
Whoo!! Got ta hear this on a mixtape from DJ 5150, Dre & Big Jay recently and it’s jammin’! My Current Rating: 4.7

03. J Roc Feat. Komposure & Lil’ Loc “Stupid Booty”
Don’t think I heard of these artists… >>> Sounds like a random, internet song. Only thing about this iz dat it has some “stupid” dialect (“swag”) in tha ’11 dayz, not like tha 1st time I heard internet artists… Hook’s nothin’ special ‘til it gets aight wit tha title part… Rhymes are not that decent for me but I guess it’s a catchy, Southern song, overall. My Rating: 3.1

04. Young Kidd Kidd Feat. T Mck & Lil’ Boosie “Where They Do Dat At”
Why no featured artists listed? ROFL, this appeared on a mixtape for tha 2nd time? Didn’t think this was gettin’ out there like “dat!” My Current Rating: 4.3

05. (Way3000)
LOL @ tha parenthesis! >>> Good check-in from him, again! My Rating: N/A

06. Tu G “I’m Paid”
Anotha newbie. >>> Boo @ tha five seconds of silence in tha beginning! Gee, I guess that was a sign! Why dick-suckin’-dick vocals in 2011? :confused It was cool before ’08 ended! At least tha vocals on tha rappin’s normal. However, since this iz a “money” song, I’m not inta it at all; could get a lil’ original and get rid of those gay-ass vocals on tha hook! My Rating: 1.0

07. Ratchet Locc Feat. Young Menace “Shit Real”
>>> Slow intro; hope it doesn’t scare me… Sounds like an interestin’ song wit tha hook; gets betta once tha fastness comes from tha 1st verse! Tha 2nd verse sounds good, too; somethin’ catchy wit an interestin’ twist! My Rating: 4.0

08. (Ratchet Locc)
LOL. >>> Sounds good for tha exposure! My Rating: N/A

09. Young Show Feat. Field City Boyz “Hella Shop”
Thought this was Ville Boyz on tha feature… >>> Must be a 318 song since Deezy On Da Beat’s producin’. Bad intro, here, wit this “swagger” shit; white boy? Why not “swagga”? :confused Catchy hook but I don’t think this’ll last tha quality I’m lookin’ for… I’m still not likin’ this white dialect wit tha “er” shit. :td Not really inta “swag” songs; when did dat stupid word start ta get out there more? My Rating: 2.8

10. Tymer Feat. Lil’ Keke “Shootin’ Spydaz”
Non-Louisiana song? Or, feature? >>> Sounds good for a hook and tha beat, too! I guess tha non-Louisiana artists are soundin’ betta than tha new Louisiana artists, here, ironically… Good shit comin’ from Lil’ Keke on tha 1st verse, doin’ tha damn thang wit tha good-life perspective and “shootin’ spydaz!” If dat’s Tymer on tha 2nd verse, it sounds decent; Keke was betta, though, but I guess this iz good exposure. Sounds like more people on tha 3rd verse? What was dat song blend toward tha end? Almost scares me for tha next song… My Rating: 4.1

11. Tymer “Breaker Breaker 1-9”
What’s this and what’s wit tha same artist twice in a row? >>> Ooh, this sounds betta! Really feelin’ tha energy in tha hook and how he handles tha beat! Good shit goin’ on in tha rhymes, too; he’s got himself a winner, here! I think this iz a catchy title, whateva it iz; consistent shit to tha fullest! My Rating: 4.3

12. Lil’ Boosie Feat. K.T. “California”
>>> Thought I heard this already? Not really in tha mood for Boosie-type shit, now, since I was promised somethin’… :confused Hate this automatic-caring shit! Actually, despite tha beginning, this iz an okay song wit tha rhymes and K.T. doesn’t sound gay wit tha vocals, finally! My Rating: 3.9

½time: Up to tha ½ point, here, and tha CD rating’s at a 3.6; not too good for a mixtape compilation, even wit only one horrible song… I’m sure it’ll pick up in tha 2nd ½, hopefully!

13. (Way3000)
LOL, doubles! Or wait, for him, it’s a triple! >>> Thumbs up, again! My Rating: N/A

14. Quick & Money Bagz “Pretty Smile”
At least this iz hilarious wit tha Boosie sample! My Current Rating: 4.5

15. Starlito “Lil’ Boosie Out”
What’s this “out” shit in tha ID? It ain’t an “outro”, yet? >>> Why a Tupac intro? :confused Oh wait, tha ID confused tha shit outta me, lol! It’s called “Lil’ Boosie Out” by Starlito, not vice-versa! Sounds tight wit tha beat and rhymes, here, but what makes a “bitch” so special? Opposite thinking? Good for a short song; too bad it’s a ‘short’ song… What’s up wit all tha “Tupac” shit? My Rating: 4.2

16. 2 Slugz “Make It Happen”
Whoo! Finally, some brighter-soundin’ music for me, here! Thought I reviewed it but his mixtape wouldn’t open for me. Instead, I played it on my radio show; lemme review it, now! >>> Yea, some catchy shit, here! “Do you know who I am;” nice and demandin’ dat sounds good! Such catchy rhymes; where tha hell does he gets his thoughts from? Real catchy to tha bone!! Feelin’ tha gangsta-soundin’ 2nd verse from him, too; lol, he don’t stop!! Glad he makes music videos; he’s all about grindin’!! Boo! Forgot there was a long outro; thought I was gonna hear a 3rd verse… My Current Rating: 4.5

17. GP “Neva In My Life”
Afraid ta hear dis for some reason… >>> Kinda sounds like Juvie, lol; this iz pretty good… Tha beat’s pretty good and tha content’s soundin’ pretty tight, too! Really likin’ this, vs. a lot of tha newer artists on here! Likin’ tha 2nd verse wit tha “I will french-fry ya” when it comes ta “touchin’ [his] dollaz!” Oh no, anotha long outro? This iz a longer one but at least there’s a lot of talkin’, here. My Rating: 4.3

18. (Way3000)
LOL, again! >>> Yup, lol, although anotha “Bad Azz Entertainment” shout out? My Rating: N/A

19. Big Two “1234”
Looks familiar but I don’t think I heard it ‘cause I only heard this artist on your CD… >>> LOL, sounds like a funny hook and tha 1st verse almost sounds like a less-hyper Level… “Took a shot of patron;” surprised, since he’s barely known… Hopefully, I don’t need ta do dat ta be required to get exposure, right? BTW, what’s it like ta “pop one, pop two, pop three, pop fo”? Like, in a creative way, what was date and time he first popped? My Rating: 4.4

20. HardHead “I Pussy Pop”
>>> This sounds catchy, too; anotha good song outta my real-life reach. Tha title looks gender-reversed, though? Shouldn’t it be somethin’ like “Go Pussy Pop” instead of him actually “pussy poppin’”? :confused I don’t get it but it sounds good, here! “I’m in da club, gettin’ fulla dat shit!” Date and time, too? Why not? Add a lil’ somethin’ to tha character! My Rating: 4.2

21. (FrankieThaLuckyDog)
That’s right! >>> Didn’t sound too bad on tha audio quality, since I used a camera dat recorded in mono… See, tha best thing about me iz I edited tha silence out before I submitted it; that’s why it flowed through instantly! My Rating: N/A

22. Young Reio “Get Ratchet”
Anotha song like dis? Let’s see what dis artist has ta offer… >>> Tha hook’s lyrics sound familiar but this iz pretty tight; I guess this iz tha typical, Shreveport-soundin’ vocals/delivery I’d expect, like a Big Poppa baby, lol! Nothin’ really special wit tha rhymes, as I’ve heard ‘em many times. But, this iz a catchy song… A mysterious feature on tha 3rd verse? They sound only decent but who are they? My Rating: 4.2

23. BadOff “Alphabet Money”
Somebody on tha DatPiff comments said dis was pretty sick; I hope it iz for a “money” title! >>> This doesn’t sound like anything different; just anotha “money” song fa me wit an okay beat and hook… I thought I was expectin’ somethin’ different for a “money” song, finally! My Rating: 3.8

24. BadOff “Outro”
>>> A lil’ longer… Beat sounds nice… I’m feelin’ his dialect more than tha song he just did, lol. Good shit from him, “outro” style! My Rating: N/A

Overall: I’m glad you put me in tha main artists on tha description; I was glad ta be a part of this mixtape, which I thought was pretty good!
