Howard Joseph Evans, Jr., known by his stage name D-Matic Da Beast, was fatally struck by an 18-wheeler head-on, drivin' down LA 30, westbound, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, shortly after 10:30 PM; he was only 36 years-old. Evans was a native of New Orleans, LA but a long-tyme resident of Prairieville, LA. Evans graduated from Saint Amant High School, back in 2003. In 2009, Evans released his debut, Belly Of The Beast, courtesy of Gangsta Gumbo Music. Evans continued learning by attending ITI Technical College, later graduating with honors in 2012, in Process Technology. In 2015, Evans debuted his clothing brand called "VilleLyfe", to tha world. As tha years went on, Evans would help out by collaborating with Baton Rouge-based media outlet, ThaAntidote.com. Tryin' to keep it goin' for tha media, Evans' life was cut short on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, when he was struck head-on by an 18-wheeler. Today, July 25, 2022, would've been Evans' 37th birthday; FrankieThaLuckyDog would like to wish Evans a Happy 37th Birthday in Heaven!

- On January 28, 2010, I first heard D-Matic on Kenner, LA DJ, Jimmy The DJ's Gangsta Gumbo, Vol. 4: The Audacity Of Dope & I reviewed tha mixtape.

I’m DEFINITELY feelin’ how you bringin’ tha 1st verse to tha plate here!! I like how you rap it and tha GR8 content too for tha streetz!! Let’s see what dis gon bring… >>> Okay start but it sounds like it might be pretty good… Sounds like a Drake song or somethin’…; it iz on tha beat but Gar sounds hypnotized by him on tha hook… You’re on tha 1st verse and it’s pretty good… Good rhymes but an aight flow… Tha 2nd verse ain’t dat bad here; stayin’ consistent, ya dig… I really like you at tha end where there’s no beat and tha “free my nigga ___.” My Rating: 4.1

Tha beat sounds like it just rings and rings, lol; definitely a catchy tune!! You’re on tha 1st verse, Gizzle, and it sounds pretty good… I’m feelin’ tha N.O. perspective in tha 2nd verse here, keepin’ it “gangsta” to tha fullest!! Nice job on tha 2nd verse, B.G.!! You’re on tha 2nd verse and you’re makin’ this sound like a good collaboration; nice job, Gizzle! LOL, Maino’s on tha 3rd verse here, doin’ some mixtape-type shit for you, Gizzle; good shit! Was this from tha collaboration CD, “225/504”? No, it’s not? >>> Oh wait, this iz “Louisiana Finest” on tha collaboration CD, lol. Sounds like an anthem wit tha beat start! You’re on tha 1st verse and you sound pretty good on this beat; your flow’s always laidback and iz a lil’ weird on an anthematic beat though… Boosie hopped onto tha 2nd part here and he has some good shit ta say; good job! You’re on tha 3rd part and I’m likin’ this part a lil’ more than tha 1st part; keepin’ it gangsta! Tha 4th part iz Boosie and tha rhymes are faster than yours here; good shit, Boosie! DEFINITELY feelin’ tha consistentness!! Tha 5th part from you sounds like T.I. now on tha flow and some of tha lyrics, lol… Boosie sounds pretty strong wit tha content on tha 6th part; gutta shit!! Could’ve sworn I heard this not too long ago (even though it’s a “remix”) but I guess I’m reviewin’ it again or somethin’… You’re on tha 2nd verse and it sounds straight… Wayne’s on tha 3rd verse and lol, it’s short; just okay fa what it iz but iz good fa this song. You’re on tha hook and I’m likin’ dis title; interestin’ shit here, Gizzle! You REALLY holdin’ it down fa tha streetz and I’m GLAD you have a team wit cha here!! Here’s tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ good for tha streetz once again wit tha content!! “Free my nigga Hot Beezo;” he’s in jail? Shit, no… Here’s tha 3rd verse and it’s more on tha motivated tip! Anotha tight lineup here!! Just “Young” iz tha last dude’s name? Dat’s all it says on tha back cover… Anyway, lookin’ forward ta dis!! >>> Tha beat’s nice and tha hook sounds pretty tight wit you on it!! It’s all about NO SNITCHIN’!!! You’re focused to tha fullest on tha 1st verse; nice job, ya dig? You made anotha GR8 song here! Tha 2nd verse sounds like a newbie and they’re doin’ their thang here! “I don’t talk on tha phone, ‘less I’m talkin’ ta bitches;” no bidness? I dunno ‘bout dat but overall, a straight verse… Tha 3rd verse sounds like some “Port Allen” action happened or somethin’; evade tha cops!! Good job deliverin’ this shit… Tha 4th verse’s also doin’ a nice job here wit tha street content; good voices too ta hold dis shit down! Feddie’s tha dude dat’s last? Then, how come everyone’s all mixed up in tha ID? I like how tha rappin’ keeps goin’ and tha beat fades out. Then, tha ending was a cold ending; nice combo! My Rating: 4.4

Let’s keep it goin’!! >>> I immediately noticed tha beat as it’s tha “Set Me Free” beat; at least this shit’s very recent unlike tha shit I’ve been hearin’ on other peoples’ mixtapes! Pretty good rappin’ on tha 1st verse from you, Gizzle… Yea!! Gar’s on tha 2nd verse and he’s REALLY noticeable on tha voice here!! Very catchy wit how this shit iz rapped!! For some reason, it makes me think he grew dreads or somethin’ wit how he’s wild on this shit wit tha flow! Wit less than 40 seconds left, you’re on tha 3rd verse here and it’s fulla “jungle”-type shit goin’ on here in tha hood; thumbs up fa contributin’ this verse, Gizzle!! My Rating: 4.3

Ooh, anotha A.D. Watts beat!! Lookin’ forward once again!! >>> Sounds like Oompa Oompa shit sampled in tha beginning, lol? Iz this tha 2010 version of “I Don’t Like The Look Of It”, lol? Catchy hook; feelin’ tha sample as it’s catchy as hell fa dis! You’re on tha 1st verse and you know how ta handle shit when it comes ta whoeva “handles shit stupid on tha phone!” Nice job wit keepin’ it trill, Gizzle! Uh oh, a NICE start to tha 2nd verse here from Wild Bill!! Likin’ how he just emerged onto tha verse (and into me knowin’ him) wit an “AK-47” and shit like dat!! Thought this was gonna be somethin’ like “Fuckin’ You Tonight” or somethin’, which would’ve had me worried. However, this iz a different song so let’s see what’s good wit it… >>> I like tha Bounce-soundin’ beat from DJ Hektik & BassHeavy! Also, some nice mixin’ too; good start… Tha hook sounds good fa what it iz; somethin’ simple fa me ta hear… Tha 1st verse iz you just doin’ ya thang and your achieved goals. Sounds like an intro track rather than an outro track, lol. Not bad wit tha 2nd verse here… Pretty good shit. Oh, I see where tha title’s comin’ from; sounds like a Juvenile-type song or somethin’, lol… My Rating: 4.0
