Review #204: Gregory D & DJ Mannie Fresh "The Real Deal"

Reviewed on 5.19.2009 (Review No. 204)

FrankieThaLuckyDog in ya eyez right now! Finna do my next review in my marathon: Their 3rd appearance on this marathon: Gregory D & DJ Mannie Fresh "The Real Deal"! We still in '92!! Start Time: 5:39 PM | End Time: 7:01 PM

Disclaimer:
I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

01. "10 Years"
This CD iz now 17 "years" old, lol. How will this CD start, especially since it's tha 90's now? >>> Now, it's explicit. Interesting about tha "10 years" shit. Yeah, "10 years iz a long time;" I agree. Who would've thought this decade (2000-2009) would have SO MUCH SHIT?!? That's why I LUV havin' my video camera and doin' shit wit it! Tha rappin' sounds better now, and tha beats are more Hip-Hoppy. Tha song itself had a nice message, but it only decent fa me. My Rating: 3.4

02. "Crack Slangas"
Looks like this gon be a good one, yet it's almost 6 minutes long!! >>> Not bad start, yet it's interesting. Tha beat iz only okay, so I hope this can grow up to tha typical drug songs I luv! During tha 2nd 1/2 of tha 1st minute of tha song, all tha "slangas" parts are catchy. Really feelin' tha start of tha next verse wit tha "I pledge allegiance to a rock;" drug style! Tha next verse was good too. After hearin' it, it didn't seem as long as it iz, but nice song fa me! My Rating: 4.2

03. "Down w/HIV"
Tha title reminds me of "O.P.P." almost... Iz this gonna be your version, or a different beat? >>> This iz original, and it sounds like it gon be an "HIV" story... I like how tha "H to tha I to tha...V" part was said; so 90's style (like Dr. Dre)! LOL @ tha "down wit O.P.P." part (as I nearly guessed it in tha beginning). Afta listenin' fa a few seconds, I thought I knew this song fa a second... I think one of my past reviews rapped ova this beat or somethin'. I'll have to check... I'm sure it was a Louisiana review, but it nearly reminds me of a college thing (although I don't think I watched any HIV related things/heard songs recently at college). Good song to hear about "HIV," and LOL @ tha Christmas-styled hook. I don't think tha fade-out should've started when Mannie Fresh was breakin' it down (when tha dude was talkin')... My Rating: 4.0
EDIT: I have a feelin' tha older song I reviewed was way back last year... I can't rememba fa shit.

04. "Gansta Life"
Should be anotha one to listen to... >>> Tha 1st verse sounds interesting wit tha "dope" and "weed" type lyrics; good thing you're livin' your way in tha "gansta life." Sounds listenable... Tha 3rd verse iz soundin' real nice. LOL @ tha "booty" part (how you said it). Tha rest of it sounded pretty good too. My Rating: 3.8

05. "Dog Ass Nigga"
LOL @ tha title! I know this iz 1992, but tha 1st time I saw "ass nigga" in a title, it was in Fall 2001, when I searched online fa Mobb Deep pictures (or some shit about them), and found one of their titles bein' called "Bitch Ass Nigga". I was like, "3 explicit words out of 3 in a title!" Now, let's hear how it goes down in 1992, especially wit a "dog" lookin' one! >>> I like tha "ho-ho-hoes" part in tha beginning. So, you're considerin' yourself tha title; I see. Lemme hear more... Now, I'm hearin' some sexual terms in tha 2nd verse, and someone else iz tha title. Let's hear what's in tha 3rd verse... Sounds more towards tha "dog" style. LOL @ tha "bussin' nuts; smell this shit!" part! LOL @ tha barkin' after that! Even mixin' it sounded cool. My Rating: 3.7

½time: Off to a decent start. My ratings are kinda higher fa your music, although there's more of a Hip-Hop sound in this CD. Not much to say right now, so lemme hear what's left...

06. "Make The Beat Funky"
How "funky" iz this "beat" gon get? >>> I like tha way it said "G-R-E-G-O-R-Y" in tha beginning wit that intro. Now this iz catchy. Catchy vocals here, and good job here. It's more like tha whole entire style of tha song (beat, vocals, etc. iz "funky"). Good song... Oh, there's anotha minute left. Still keepin' that Reggaeness goin'. Well, it just mainly was tha beat ending, but good job. My Rating: 4.3

07. "Sica Dis Stupid Shit"
Whoa, mad title, yet tha nearly 6 minutes long length again (5:50)!! >>> Violent/quiet start, but a lil' after tha :30 mark, tha beat's here, and keepin' 90's in its attributes. Pretty good 1st verse, and tha way that hook iz mixed (as well as tha title in it mainly), it sounds real nice. *Dinner break at 6:18 PM* *Returns at 6:39 PM* LOL @ tha "say every cuss word from 'ass' to 'slut'." Hearin' tha 3rd verse, and it's soundin' like it's an angry verse. I ain't "sica dis shit" that you rappin' about right now though. A lot of mixin' at tha end made it long, but nice cold ending. My Rating: 4.1

08. "Coochie Pleasers"
"COOCHIE" IZ IN THA TITLE!!!!! Gotta shout out tha gurl at my college, you know! >>> LOL @ just hearin' "coochie!" OMG, that "please that coochie" part in tha hook iz WATZ GOOD!!! Automatically adding this to my iPod! Gonna be a "COOCH" anthem! Even havin' "brick layer" in tha 1st verse as well; tight shit!!! I really like tha part around 1:39 wit tha "ride it baby, AHH, like a pony!" I can't hear tha word "coochie" without thinkin' of tha gurl Cooch at college! Yes, Fresh iz on tha 2nd verse; he's here!! He sounds like he sounds now, so thumbs up! YES, HE SAID "COOCH!!!" Real great verse from him, especially tha end wit sayin' tha "please that coochie" part!!! You KNOW I can't think of tha words "cooch" and "coochie" without thinkin' of tha Cooch at college!! My Rating: 4.9

09. "Hi-School Hoodlums"
Almost tha exact follow up! Only thing iz tha Cooch iz from college. But, lemme hear tha "Hi-School" story here wit dese "hoodlums"... >>> Startin' off wit "say brah," so you know it's watz good! Okay start, although it gets me in tha mood. SMH @ tha "F's" you makin'. Ooh, "pocket full of drugs fa sale." That's watz good 'cause I was gonna your "PB&J" line 'cause I had that shit fa lunch like err-day, and it's bad. Tha 2nd verse sounds vicious, especially wit tha "punching" goin' on at tha end. Tha next verse sounded pretty vicious too, this time dealin' wit tha "gats" instead of tha "punching." I like your last minute wit tha "tha gangstas/weed heads go ta..." part. My Rating: 4.2

10. "Rollin' That"
Looks like this could be a GREAT ending song!! >>> Sounds GREAT so far!! Tha female singin' tha hook iz hot. Great lyrics in tha hook! Great tempo, and great 1st verse! I like your "C-O-C-A iz what I sell" part! Tha 2nd hook sounded GREAT too!! Great 2nd verse too! Luvin' tha changin' of tha hook, as tha 3rd hook was GREAT! Luved when she said, "and weeeeeeed!" Tha rest was great, and great sign off to tha CD! My Rating: 4.4

Overall: Tha 2nd 1/2 of tha CD proved that I DEFINITELY was feelin' it! LUVED tha "coochie" song and tha last song!! Great CD, especially tha ending! Lookin' forward to tha 1994 "Niggaz In Da Boot" CD too (even though it's Mannie Freshless)!
