Review #287: Johnnie Domino "Album Rejects Vol. 2"

Reviewed on 8.17.2009 (Night of 8.16.2009) (Review #287)

ANOTHA REVIEW?!? LOL!! Ya boy FrankieThaLuckyDog iz STILL AWAKE, doin' this shit!! I just don't stop, and this gon be tha last one for tha night: For my boy Johnnie Domino, and his final release called "Album Rejects Vol. 2"! Tha 1st one had FIYA production from Sims, Mouse, and had a good amount of people on there; hope tha same iz for this one!! BTW, last night, I set tha record (at about 1:03 AM) for latest review I've eva done. Now, I'm resettin' it, lmao!! It past 1:50 AM now, and here goes my review fa Johnnie Domino "Album Rejects Vol. 2"! Start Time: 1:54 AM | End Time: 3:01 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

01. "All Bark" Feat. Maverick & Savage
I can FEEL a REAL CLASSIC CD right here, ya heard me!! Wit a lineup like THAT for tha 1st song (wit Mouse doin' tha beat), you KNOW this CD DESERVES ta have tha record fa latest review I've eva done!! Here goes tha record, set at 1:54 AM!!! >>> Really like tha Mouse start here; reminds me of some video game, lol!! This iz off to a NICE start wit tha 1st verse wit Maverick doin' tha damn thang! Doin' such a GREAT JOB wit this HOT-ASS shit right here!!! I'm glad I'm real cool wit you, Domino; we doin' MAJOR THANGZ right now, ya heard me!! Real nice job wit tha rappin' from Maverick on tha 1st verse, and that hook iz on some catchy-ass shit!! I like tha whole "I see these niggaz all barkin', but I don't see these niggaz bitin'" part! Supa Sav here on tha 2nd verse, doin' tha damn thang wit a lil' bit of a faster flow from him! Nearly sounds like Max Minelli on this one, doin' a NICE job wit his hood lyrics! My boy Domino here on tha 3rd verse, doin' a nice job here! Gotta like tha "dog type" lyrics wit this whole song! Great lyrics goin' on here; straight street shit here! DEFINITELY a REAL GREAT start to this CD!! LOL, barkin' at tha end!! My Rating: 4.6

02. "Forgot Where You Came From" Feat. Maverick & S.B.R. Boy
SIMS ON THA TRACK!!! And 5:00 FLAT on tha length!!! This tha 1st time I'm hearin' my boy S.B.R. on a song (recently heard him on that freestyle he recently uploaded about how raw it iz in Baton Rouge [forgot what it was called])!! HUGE anticipation, so I ain't gon wait any longer!! >>> Tha beat iz DEFINITE pure at its finest! Tha hook sounded a lil' slow at first, but it soundin' pretty good! Tha 1st verse here, and it's soundin' pretty good. Nice job, Domino, on all tha shit you just rapped about on that verse! Here comes tha 2nd verse from Maverick, startin' off flamin' wit tha "hot boy with a torch" part; great shit he spittin' right now!! He outshined you on this song, Domino, lol. But, it ain't all about outshinin' each otha on tha track; it about deliverin' that HOT SHIT!! That beat effect at 3:09 sounded like a Blu Black beat effect wit tha silence; nice job/influence, Sims! It's S.B.R. on tha 3rd verse, and I thought he would be ANGRIER ('cause of that freestyle), but his rhymes are DEFINITELY tha shit, so that's a plus! Yea, tha song iz endin' wit a chirp! Nice Sims beat ending at 4:32!! I like tha phone conversation wit whoeva you're on tha phone wit (couldn't hear who it was 'cause tha beat was still playin'). Great shit right here! My Rating: 4.5

03. "My Bad (Radio)" Feat. Jimi Jump, Backdraft, Ms. Peaches & Lacey
A radio edit and no dirty version? But, anotha Sims beat!! Not sure what ta expect wit all these people (and 1 or 2 females)... I'm sure this iz on sum TIGHT SHIT even wit Jimi Jump on it!! >>> Pretty good intro, but that hook sounds betta; great females on it. Here's tha 1st verse, and it soundin' good on this great beat. You did ya thang on this, Domino. You seemed real interested in tha female/party on that verse! Let's see what we got on tha 2nd verse... Yea, Jimi Jump here! SMH @ tha censored "purple" part... He always comes through without givin' a fuck! Nice job from Jump, as he jumped onto tha song perfectly! Let's hear what tha 3rd verse has ta offer... A female? I thought it was gon be a male... Mixin' pretty good in this, so that's a plus. Seein' all these features on this CD already reminds me of Beat Flippa's "Street Certified" CD last year, which sounded REAL GREAT, and had BUKU features! My Rating: 4.2

04. "Lac Ridin'" Feat. J-Von
Tha spellin' looks odd on Datpiff (it says "Llac Ride'in"); I fixed it. Anyway, got producer O.N.E. on this, so this gon shine sum new light wit tha legendary J-Von on this; lookin' forward a WHOLE lot!!! >>> Decent beat soundin'; sounds like it samples a few songs... Tha beginning of this iz soundin' good, and already, only 43 seconds in, tha beat sounds much betta, and fits NICE wit this song! You doin' yo thang on tha 1st verse, Domino, wit tha "lac ridin'" lyrics. Ooh, tha hook sounds good for singin'! Tha 2nd verse here from J-Von, doin' a nice job wit his rappin'! Gotta luv tha legendary rappers from Louisiana!! Tight-ass flow, and great lac style here!! Here comes tha 3rd verse, and it's off to a gr8 start! Keepin' tha subject on point, so you KNOW tha "ridin'" doesn't lack, lol! Nice job, Domino! Felt that verse betta than tha 1st one! My Rating: 4.5

05. "The Hardway" Feat. Big Cheezy & Spaide R.I.P.P.E.R.
Almost looks like a depressin' title, but Q-Red's on tha track, so there should be no tears! Lookin' forward ta hearin' how tha featured peeps gon sound too; 5:09 on tha length!! >>> Of course, off to a pretty good start for tha intro! Unlike tha last song, which sounded real loud, this sounds lower. Okay, that hook iz DEFINITELY nice; feelin' it!! Wow, tha 2nd 1/2 of it iz REAL NICE wit that Q-Red beat!! Here's "tha professor," Johnnie Domino, on tha 1st verse! Way "too fresh" here since you don't want "blood on your clothes!" Tha 2nd 1/2 of this verse here soundin' nice from Mr. R.I.P.P.E.R.! LOL @ his "ya betta do what Mouse say, and *imitates Mouse* WATCH MY SHOES!!" part at tha end of tha verse! Here's tha 2nd verse from Big Cheezy... soundin' REAL NICE wit that voice!! Sounds like he makin' a lotta people scared of him; that's watz good!! He lures a lotta fear and flinchin' in folks! Anotha verse here, and it's Spaide R.I.P.P.E.R.; great rappin' and GREAT voice!! Luv what he spittin' on this shit; str8 Baton Rouge style right here!! Glad there's even a beat outro on this too. My Rating: 4.7

½time: Well, in one more minute, it'll be 2:25 AM here on Long Island, NY, lol. Actually, it just turned it, so you KNOW it had ta be OFFICIAL Baton Rouge'd up!! For tha CD so far, it's off to a REAL GOOD start!!! I really luv how you flood tha CD wit buku features, and tha BEST producers from Baton Rouge (although Blu Black's missin', and Yung Yola in jail)!!! Hate ta see this be tha last one, but I guess you know what you're doin' when it comes to this business shit 'cause you REAL smart wit it! Average CD rating iz currently a NICE, WHOPPIN' 4.5!!

06. "You Don't Wanna" Feat. T-Lo & Young Ready
Startin' off tha 2nd 1/2 wit somethin' WAY TOO RAW!!!!! I swear, everytime I scroll down on tha tracklisting here, I feel REAL blessed, ya dig!! I feel like there's BUKU TREASURE when it comes to song titles, featured artists, and tha producers!!! A NICE 4:44 on tha length, so here comes nothin' but LUV from me!!! >>> Sounds like a betta Sims beat this time; how high will this rating be?!? T-Lo in tha beginning, and it REALLY BUMPED at :20 in!! Now, it's back to tha really loud soundin', and T-Lo doin' a REAL nice job on tha hook; just str8 FIYA!!! Went RIGHT into Domino on tha 1st verse!! Spittin' real shit from your heart on this shit; really like your attitude and style on this beat!! Uh oh, Young Ready 'bout ta REALLY GO OFF on tha 2nd verse!!! LOL, it T-Lo instead, who's "coo coo for Cocoa Puffs," lol! T-Lo's 2nd in tha features; I'm gonna flip him wit Ready 'cause Ready comes afta him. Either way, he did his thang on this shit right here; str8 Baton Rouge shit to tha fullest!! Now, here comes that Ready!!! "Specializes in homicide," so you KNOW it's TOO GANGSTA wit only SECONDS in!!! Tha hardest, most gangsta shit you can hear!!!!! No one iz MO GANGSTA than Ready!!!!! Glad he "sharpenin' up his aim" at tha "gun range;" can't get it ANY BETTA from him!!!!! MAJOR COLLABORATION RIGHT HERE!!!!! My Rating: 4.9

07. "Bring It On (Sports)" Feat. Spaide R.I.P.P.E.R. & Big Cheezy
Troy doin' tha beat this time, so it's a shift from tha typical people I know more... Only 3:12 on tha length, but y'all should tear this ma'fucka up!!! I like tha title, especially how "sports" iz in ()! >>> Sounds a lil' slow on tha BPM, but it's a HOT beat!! Although I'm not into sports, tha hook iz DEFINITELY on sum HOT shit!!! I think sports apply REAL, REAL GOOD into Rap music, ya dig!! Really feelin' your 1st verse here, Domino!! All those "defense" lines and football references are just tha shit!!! Tha best shit I heard from you on this CD so far!! That hook iz UNSTOPPABLE!!! Here we go wit tha 2nd verse, keepin' that consistent shit comin' from where you left off!! Despite this song's unknown audience outside BR, it should DEFINITELY be in a video game; consider it!! Here comes tha somewhat pre-ending wit all tha "stompin';" TIGHT-ASS SHIT!!! My Rating: 4.8

08. "Quit It"
LOL, you gon hold a WHOLE track down fa 4:08, Johnnie!! That's watz good 'cause you got Mouse on tha beat, so tha HATERZ'll DEFINITELY "quit it" when it comes ta seein' you by yourself on a song!! >>> Tha last song was real low on tha volume. Now, this one sounds like full blast, lol. Sounds like a different style in tha beginning, but iz catchy. His sample in tha beat sounds REAL catchy! You doin' ya thang on tha 1st verse, goin' tha gangsta side wit how much no one should fuck you over! Real nice 1st verse, and that hook iz DEFINITELY nice!! It has like a C-Loc feel in tha way it sounds, as well as tha lyrics! Here comes tha 2nd verse, and tha consistency continues! Interesting lyrics, especially tha "DNA" at 2:00! Glad you filterin' out fakes, "breakin' 'em down like fractions!" Anotha Domino verse here; 3x a charm! Yea, to anyone against you: "This battle you losin';" I feel you on that, big dawg! Real nice rappin' on tha last verse; you REALLY held this song down to tha fullest!!! Yea! Tha beat continues for tha last 21 seconds; luvin' it!!! My Rating: 4.6

09. "Comfortable" Feat. Tre Virdure
Tre doin' tha beat also on this... Not sure about that title for this CD... Hope you REALLY keep this consistent!!! >>> Well, not much into tha intro. Maybe you should've hired more featured artists? Soundin' different for tha 1st verse. Good lyrics from you on this. Tha hook ain't that bad, although this style iz not me. Here comes you on tha 2nd verse, and I'm likin' how you sound on it. More interestin' lyrics, so that's a plus. Anotha verse from you here, so that's a plus. I like your "lottery was tha closest I've been to a millionaire" part; you WERE lucky on tickets? Tha most I won was $500 last year on a $20 scratch-off, but I've been real lucky findin' winners, ya dig! Nice job on tha 3rd verse, and after all, this iz listenable for me. I was afraid it was not gonna get tha 4.0 rating from me (which would've caused this CD ta not get an automatic 5* rating). But, tha hook sounded better wit tha way you were rappin' to this, so I give this a plus. It feels nice and relaxin'. My Rating: 4.0

10. "You Ain't On" Feat. Box
A 2006 song that was neva seen before (not that I know of)! You produced it yourself, so I'm curious to see how this sounds!! BTW, it's quite ironic that it 2006 'cause tha last review I just did was Jay Regal's 2006 "Mixtape Murda Vol. 1" mixtape, lol! >>> Nice length of 4:47, and tha beat sounds kinda plain for a start; not much goin' on. I like your "one-hit wonder" part; LOL @ tha Joe Budden reference! Pretty good lyrics in tha 1st verse. Now, tha verse, and tha plain beat changes up wit tha title, which sounds REAL catchy in tha hook; great shit! Here comes that boy Box on tha 2nd verse! "Ya flow iz unplugged, that's why you ain't on;" REAL TIGHT part!!! Nice job from him deliverin' a nice verse on this shit! It's back ta you, Domino, on tha 3rd verse here, and it's soundin' good still. I like tha "attitude without P. Diddy, you just a bad boy" part too; that's your catchy part in your verse! Pretty good song right here. My Rating: 4.1

11. "From The Lou To The Boot" Feat. Spaide R.I.P.P.E.R., Big Cheezy & Hard
Tha retirin' Johnnie Domino song...!!! This iz your sign-off, and at 3:01 AM, you will be pronounced retired from doin' albums (but will still do features and shit). Let's see how GREAT it sounds for a Sims beat!!! >>> Anotha REAL NICE Sims start here!! I ALWAYS get excited for these Sims beats; they tha SHIT at ALL TIMES!!! Yea, you sound catchy on tha 1st 1/2 of tha hook wit how it iz stayin' strong! Tha 2nd 1/2 of tha hook (repeatin' tha title) was REAL catchy; tight-ass shit!! You're on tha 1st verse, and tha rhymes are catchy and great here! Here comes Spaide on tha 2nd verse, doin' his thang on this TIGHT shit!! I luv tha "225/sell it for tha too-too high" part a WHOLE LOT!! REALLY came out REAL, REAL GREAT!!!!! Here's tha next dude (Hard) on tha 3rd verse! Really likin' tha fast rappin' towards tha end of tha 1st 1/2 of tha 3rd verse! Ooh, tha 2nd 1/2 of tha 3rd verse from (I think) St. Louis representative Big Cheezy soundin' REAL nice!! He ALWAYS comin' through raw, and it's REAL great fa this shit!! Real great song to end this CD off! My Rating: 4.6

Overall: Well, it's over, and I'm sadly goin' ta sleep! At 3:01 AM, that was tha latest I've eva ended a review, so thumbs up to that boy Johnnie Domino!!! You have a classic right here!!! Glad you keep in touch wit me at times, and you KNOW I'ma hold you, S.B.R., Jay Regal, Raw Ha Records, and tha WHOLE Baton Rouge down, ya dig!!! Even if you don't continue ta do albums, because of your HUGE-ASS list of features and producers, you should try and make a compilation album consistin' of most of tha featured people on here, as well as othas from Baton Rouge (like Beat Flippa did)!!
