Review #296: Lil' Dee Cee "Dream 2 Reality"

Reviewed on 8.29.2009 (Review #296)

It’s FrankieThaLuckyDog here. ‘Bout ta do a review for Lil’ Dee Cee outta Donaldsonville, LA. His mixtape, “Dream 2 Reality”, iz now available on DatPiff, so here I am reviewin’ it. Also, this gon be tha last week I gon do requested commercials for free, so once I go back ta college, it STRICTLY BU$INE$$ (August 31)! Here goes my review fa Lil’ Dee Cee “Dream 2 Reality”. Based off tha pre-commercial I made, I have a feelin’ this CD’s taste won’t really be for me, so try not to get offended wit anything I say. Start Time: 9:06 PM | End Time: 9:49 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Still Shinin’” Feat. RoyDezzy
This looks like it gon be a pretty good collab, although I thought it was one of tha songs I used in tha commercial; lemme find out… >>> I might’ve used it for tha 1st few seconds if I’m not mistaken; good beat. Was gonna be good ‘til tha Auto-Tune came in; nice way ta ruin a part of it. Tha hook sounded good wit tha beat, minus tha Auto-Tune! Roy’s on tha 2nd verse, and although I had a lil’ bit of hope in tha beginning, he has tha Auto-Tune. That’s a bad way ta keep a rating up, so I can’t really handle it. Nice beat outro though wit tha piano. Sounds like what gon be one of tha better songs on this CD. My Rating: 3.2

02. “Show Time” Feat. Yung Fame
This one I remember in tha commercial, and it ain’t up ta par wit me and how I feel about it; *reviews it* >>> Yea, tha hook scares me wit tha way tha vocals sound. Good thing we have at least normal vocals on tha verses here. No comment really on tha 1st verse. Sounds like this gon be more of an R&B CD than a Rap CD? Yung Fame had a somewhat good part on tha 2nd verse. WTF was up wit tha cut off on tha hook at 2:19? That was weird. My Rating: 2.6

03. “Make Love To You Girl”
Do I have to say anything? >>> Sounds a lil’ better in tha intro this time. For a song unda 3:00 long, it shouldn’t’ve had a 34 second intro before tha hook. Tha 1st verse here, and lemme keep my R&B ova Rap comment this time about this CD. Tha R&Bness caught me unexpectedly on tha 1st verse, and I can’t really feel it. Rappin’ comin’ up here in tha 2nd verse, and it sounds like we need a room ‘cause tha lyrics are soundin’ betta this time. Glad you added some “wantin’ ta have sex” lyrics here, so props. Sounded like tha song was really a minute long, lol. Nice cold endings on this CD by tha way. My Rating: 2.8

04. “Check My Swag” Feat. Big Bundy, Yung Fame & Jashyne The Grate
Just when it looks like this CD could get a rise, unfortunately, it’s a pretty bad step for me right now. I know it ain’t your fault on this one, but when I hear new productions comin’ outta 225, I am BORN ta luv most of ‘em. However, wit tha beat here, I didn’t expect ta hear it a 2nd time (which was why I excluded it from tha pre-commercial). It’s known fa bein’ on tha SUPA Fall 2008 anthem of Southpaw & Rackley “Gets No Better” that EXPLODED wit me around then. My question iz: Where did this beat come from? I heard it 1st from them, but how did you get it? I can’t make out tha producer’s name (when it says it), but wit their beats, are they givin’ ta multiple Baton Rouge/225 people, and multiple people rap on them or somethin’? I don’t get it, but it was a turn off for me ‘cause I think that “Baton Rouge vs. Baton Rouge” songs (or “225 vs. 225” songs) are weird ‘cause once I think a beat iz original, it should ONLY be used ONCE! Lemme hear tha song now that it’s here… >>> Yea, tha hook sounds SO weird from tha “it gets no betta than this. Ride wit tha top down wit tha baddest bitch, aye” hook I’m used to. Tha 1st verse here soundin’ like it goin’ tha hardest on this CD, lol. Nice job this time! Dee Cee, you’re on tha 2nd verse, and it sounds betta. This could turn out ta be a good song, although it ain’t even CLOSE to that otha song this beat was from! Tha 3rd verse sounds like a good start wit tha “peer pressure” shit! Nice job there. Good rating due to tha verses, but I’m still surprised in tha beat choice! My Rating: 3.6

05. “I’m The Champion”
I feel that “I’m tha champion” wit tha way I do dis shit fa my 225 peeps! But yea, I think this song iz a lil’ too positive for me. Lemme see what I got ta say in tha review… >>> Pretty good beat start, but should this even be called “Louisiana?” Not really into tha Christian rappin’ here; I just believe in God, but I don’t bring him out to tha public and shit. Tha hook somewhat aight, but it sounds like this beat can sound pretty good now. Still not really attracted to those too positive/Christianish lyrics. Why iz there Auto-Tune singin’ at 2:13? That kinda ruined it; scary. My Rating: 3.0

½time: Not my cup of tea, but I give you props for doin’ what you’re doin’. I’m just tha wrong person to be listenin’ to this right now. I don’t know what ta expect from tha last 5 songs, since I prolly neva heard ‘em. Average CD rating iz currently 3.0.

06. “Do It All Night”
If this a sexual topic, I would be shocked! >>> Yuck, “Good Life” beat from Kanye & T-Pain? Please let that GAY-ASS FUCKED UP 2007 year DIE!! Wit that sexual-stereotyped title, it sounds too positive again. Yucky singin’ on tha hook; you should just stick ta rappin’!! I could NEVA picture myself listenin’ ta this… Why didn’t you rhyme tha word “ass” in tha 2nd verse? Nowhere near sexual at all; more weird singin’ past tha 3:00 mark. My Rating: 1.9

07. “Gettin’ Money” Feat. Jashyne The Grate & Pee Wee Jones
I don’t know how good this’ll be… >>> Weird singin’ in tha hook again. It actually has more of a hood style in it than some of tha songs on here. LOL @ tha drug lyrics in tha 1st verse; HOW unexpected for this CD, lol (that’s ‘cause it’s a featured person)!! I like tha “hustlephobia” part. Yes, even tha dude on tha 2nd verse doin’ some drug dealin’; that’s watz good when it comes to dis Rap shit!! I guess that’s you singin’ on tha hook? Wow, you said “ass” in tha hook. What was wit tha 15 seconds of silence? Possibly tha best song that’s comin’ from this CD! My Rating: 3.9

08. “Star Light”
Thank God it only 2:12! >>> Uh oh, an Auto-Tune laugh! Tha beat actually sounds pretty hot in tha beginning; anotha fuck up? Sad ta see this beat REALLY ruined! You sound too much like RoyDezzy when he fucked up on that Auto-Tune! Could’ve been a REAL NICE song for a GREAT R&B singer, but you have it… Wow, normal vocals and rappin’ on tha 2nd verse… You said, “shit?” LOL! Nice job on tha rappin’ though, but there’s too many fucked up thingz goin’ on wit tha voice & song! My Rating: 2.0

09. “Baby”
Why iz this title in CAPS? 2:08 on tha length, so I’m GLAD it short again! >>> Sounds like a Marvin Gaye sample in tha beginning, so low anticipation… Yea, kinda annoyin’ as it’s in tha background of tha song. WTF iz that “this-in-vicious” shit or w/e that iz afta tha 1st verse? I guess a better set of verses this time for this CD. Not my kinda song, but it sounds like you’re tryin’, so I’ll give it dat. My Rating: 2.7

10. “Oh Yeah” Feat. Lil’ Boxx, R-Steezy, RoyDezzy, Yank & Mon-G
Why iz there a big undaground name like Lil’ Boxx (who iz real good) on this? What kinda endin’ song will this be? >>> Will this be tha best song on here? Sounds more like a better style here. Nice Young Jeezyish beat, and good hook. Yea, Boxx on tha 1st verse here; nice shit here! Nice job on tha 1st ½! Iz that R-Steezy on tha 2nd ½ of tha 1st verse? Pretty good; a lil’ off beat though. RoyDezzy on tha 2nd verse here. LOL @ tha “shit stain on his draws” when referrin’ to otha rappaz. I don’t know ‘bout dat, but his vocal soundin’ sounds like it was from a not 100% clear mic. Tha 2nd ½ of this verse must be Yank; comin’ through harder than Dezzy, so good job. This iz tha last verse, and Mon-G iz startin’ off this ½ off… Still keepin’ it street here wit most of tha featured people, so that’s a plus! Neva mind about a ½, he held tha whole verse down. Nice job wit tha “swallowed down tha key” part. I guess that’s you on tha hook if you ain’t got no verses. I’ll make this tha best song on this CD, although tied rating wit tha #7 song on here. My Rating: 3.9

Overall: Well, not my style, but I guess you’ll be satisfied wit a commercial. Just remember that they ain’t free after this one. Too many people I talk to givin’ me weird looks that I’m doin’ too much incredible shit for free; I deserve a pay! $$$
