Review #1,017: J-Pro "Back To The Future"

Reviewed on 6.30.2011 (Review #1,017)

My 4th review for today iz a random artist dat randomly hit me up on DatPiff (glad tha comments on tha profiles are workin’, again): J-Pro, reppin’ New Orleans, Back To The Future; not sure how it’s gonna go… Start Time: 11:16 AM | End Time: 11:47 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Back In The Future (Pt. II)”
A Vandalized Produtions (not “Productions”?) production, here… >>> Good beat; a lil’ scary on tha vocals, here, on tha hook, but it’s catchy… Tha flow’s pretty catchy; I’m likin’ this original style, lol. My Rating: 4.2

02. “I-10 Music”
The Third Productions (“c” in their name, this time), here; let’s see how dis gon go… >>> Sounds like an interestin’, smooth vibe… Likin’ tha theme and dat you’re stickin’ to tha topic… My Rating: 3.9

03. “In My Dolorean” Feat. Lut
A production from Mister KA, here. >>> Interestin’ beat wit a “huh bruh” intro goin’ on, here; great way ta catch my attention! Good “soundbite” part as well as tha rhyme wit it! Tha 1st verse sounds pretty good; what’s up wit tha near-five-minute length? Tha hook sounds good; likin’ these “drivin’”-type titles and topics! Tha 2nd verse sounds good, too; gotta keep shit goin’… Tha featured artist on tha 3rd verse? Feelin’ what’s goin’ on, here, wit tha catchy rhymes wit tha “whale” and shit, lol. My Rating: 4.0

04. “Kiss The Sky” Feat. Dral B
Ill Music on tha beat… >>> Hook sounds catchy wit tha flow; tha rhymes are on-point, too… Tha 2nd verse has aight vocals but tha rhymes seem to continue, so I’ll give it some props. What’s up wit tha gay-soundin’ “aye, aye, aye, aye” shit on tha hook? Tha 3rd verse sounds like an affiliated dude dat sounds pretty good wit you… My Rating: 3.7

05. “Bad Girl”
King Tut Beatz production. >>> Sounds like a hot beat start, once again. A lil’ scary wit tha unexpected vocals on tha hook but once again, tha catchiness iz here. Rhymes are interestin’, here; I can fuck wit ‘em… Damn, there’s more gay shit goin’ on in tha hook? I thought it was catchy? :confused My Rating: 3.3

06. “Lighter Chick” Feat. Brittany & Shelly B
The TRON on tha beat. >>> Drum roll beginning… Tha hook sounds catchy wit this title although tha vocals almost sound like Jay-Z…; ewe. Ooh, I’m feelin’ tha 2nd verse from one of tha ladies; tha 1st verse was just okay for me but I think tha females got this shit on lock! Tha 2nd lady (Shelly B) on tha 3rd verse iz good, too; I liked Brittany betta, though; she seemed ta have some hood shit on lock! Scary singin’ afta Shelly? It fits tha catchiness, though. My Rating: 3.8

07. “Limitless”
Neva mind tha producer (Vybe); I guess there are some online beats, here… >>> Good title but why tha 5.5-minute length? Catchy rhymes, here; a lil’ too long for no features… Oh, speakin’ of features, sounds like a mysterious feature on tha 3rd verse, lol; they sound good enough ta break up tha boringness… My Rating: 3.4

08. “Otherside”
831 Beats beat. >>> I’m likin’ tha catchy hook; thumbs up ta tha rhymes! LOL, tha “lighter chick” theme iz back, too. Nice job wit tha verses and how you keep tha rhymes comin’; nice and consistent, ya dig? My Rating: 3.9

½time: So far, a 3.8-rated CD; decent and not wack, luckily.

09. “The Truth” Feat. Mr. Showtime
LOL, no producer listed? >>> LOL @ tha feature; this sounds pretty catchy, almost like some Lil’ Witness-influenced-type shit. Tha rhymes ain’t too bad; you doin’ ya thang, here, on this ‘winnin’’ joint, lol. Glad you keepin’ tha rhymes comin’, here! Nothin’ but non-stop shit! My Rating: 4.3

10. “Villian”
The TRON on tha beat but 4:40 on tha length? >>> This an aight song; good rhymes dat ain’t too boring wit dis beat… My Rating: 3.6

11. “Heavy”
I Am K Beatz production. >>> Sounds like somethin’ serious—I picture, like, an online beat, this time. Catchy hook but semi-gay vocals goin’ on in tha hook, too… Tha rhymes aren’t too bad, either; prolly would’ve expected betta for a tight beat like this but this ain’t bad, overall. My Rating: 3.5

12. “Avalanche”
The TRON beat, again. >>> Tha hook sounds catchy wit this title; thought it was gonna sound a lil’ gay wit tha vocals, at first. Not bad for a song, once again; I don’t have much ta say… Oh no, semi-gay vocals comin’ outta tha 2nd verse; good thing they’re only “semi” but “semi” izn’t good, either… My Rating: 3.3

13. “In The Dark”
Produced by Blind Entertainment. >>> There are some scary-soundin’ vocals on tha hook, here, but it goes good wit this title, so I won’t knock it too much… Good job wit how you deliver tha rhymes; not much ta say but it’s decent… My Rating: 3.5

14. “We On” Feat. Charles D
King Tut Beatz production. >>> Sounds like a good beat although some of tha content, here, iz a lil’ on tha typical side for me wit tha swag theme. Tha 1st verse sounds like a Wayne/Drake flow, which I’m tired of hearin’… Tha 2nd verse iz definitely betta wit this voice; go, Charles D! He killin’ this shit, here! Also, nice job on tha ending; I guess this paid off, after all? My Rating: 3.8

15. “Unchain My Heart”
Tyler On The Beat doin’ tha beat, here. >>> I had a feelin’ this would sound a lil’ spooky wit tha vocals… Good thing tha rappin’ has a regular voice. Damn, what’s wit tha 5:14 length? Although not my kinda topic ta hear, this ain’t that bad of a song… My Rating: 2.6

16. “I-10 Music (Remix)” Feat. Dral B, E-Mac, Lut & Charles D
Back to tha The Third Productions and this song, remix style! Lookin’ forward ta hearin’ Charles D, although this song’s a minute shorter than tha previous song? Weird… >>> Sounds smoother than tha original version; I think I liked tha original version betta but at least there are features here… Thumbs up ta err-body doin’ an okay/good job, here. Of course, tha big dawg, Charles D, had ta end dis shit off wit tha 3rd verse!! Really feelin’ his attitude and what he bringin’ to tha table! Oh, someone else hopped onto tha 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse? Oh wait, that’s him, too; am I confused, lol? My Rating: 4.0

Overall: For an unknown artist outta tha 504, this ain’t too bad of a CD; only one song wasn’t really for me but tha rest were decent/good.
