Review #986: Gangsta Connection "Potential To Ball"

Reviewed on 6.09.2011 (Review #986)

Keepin’ it goin’, here’s #2 for today: Gangsta Connection “Potential To Ball! Start Time: 2:00 PM | End Time: 2:20 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. Intro
>>> Sounds like y’all are great artists fa dis intro; I’m feelin’ anticipated ta hear what y’all got! My Rating: N/A

02. “Potential To Ball”
LOL, tha title track already! >>> Beat sounds good and so does y’all rappin’; tha vibe gives me an older-than-1997 feel, lol. It reminds me of when I first heard N.O.G.—shout out ta my boy Murdafeen!! Feelin’ tha rhymes y’all bringin’ to tha table, ballin’ like it’s nothin’! This iz hella long and y’all just deliver it like it’s ya last day of rappin’!! My Rating: 4.4

03. “Reminisce”
Thought it was spelled wrong but I guess not… >>> Sounds like a good, smooth joint wit some good background vocals from a lady! Tha rhymes are nice and this hook sounds great ta “reminisce” on, lol. Feelin’ how y’all deliver this joint wit tha rhymes fa tha hood of tha 504; my favorite part iz tha gurl in tha background, lol! My Rating: 4.2

04. “Jackmove”
>>> Sounds jammin’ for a start, here; good beat and it sounds like y’all comin’ through wit tha heat… Ooh, rhymes are a lil’ faster, here! Tha content sounds like it’s more gutta than usual; y’all definitely keepin’ it G to tha bone, here, ya dig? On a mission fa money wit motivation, doin’ tha damn thang! My Rating: 4.3

05. “Dead Or Be Locked Up”
That’s how it be, unfortunately… >>> Anotha good vibe of tha ‘90s, Louisiana Rap scene!! Tha hook’s tight as fuck wit this content; simple but tight ‘cause of what’s goin’ on wit this “dead or be locked up” shit! My Rating: 4.5

06. “A.W.F.”
What are these letters? LOL, I almost wrote, “what are these letter?,” soundin’ like my Zed-Oh (“0”) Math teacher from last year!! >>> Good vibe wit a shitload of rhymes goin’ on, here! Tha content’s definitely fa tha gangstas; they must luv this shit!! Rhymes are continuous, here; glad y’all got an attitude and tha stamina ta survive wit dis shit!! My Rating: 4.5

½time: Consistent CD, currently; that’s why it’s currently rated 4.4!!!!

07. “Untouchable Soldiers”
Let’s hear what’s goin’ on wit dis one! >>> Sounds like a Port Arthur, Texas vibe (like Pimp C) in tha beginning, here; good shit/good quality!! Ooh, there’s a female on tha hook; she sounds good wit how she’s handlin’ tha hook… Nothin’ but content fa tha hood, here; gotta luv it! My Rating: 4.3

08. “It’s In Me”
Let’s hear it! >>> Tha hook’s aight… This iz anotha good vibe and lol @ all tha “hoes on dick” shit goin’ on… Tha flow sounds like it’s on a kick-ass level; y’all got tha rhymes and deliveries on lock, here!! Nothin’s betta than givin’ tha delivery a great attempt; y’all are definitely doin’ dat well!! My Rating: 4.4

09. “Set’em Up Hoes”
LOL, what kinda “hoes” are these, compared to tha “hoes” from tha last song? >>> This hook’s catchy, this time; I like tha “now, it’s ‘97” part and how it’s delivered… Now, it flipped: Tha hook’s catchier but tha rhymes are on a decent level, where tha previous song had an aight hook but crazy-delivered rhymes, lol! Well, it gets betta toward tha near-end of tha song; guess that’s why y’all a group? Tha content remains in good quality, as well! My Rating: 4.2

10. “Ghetto Livin’”
>>> Ooh, hot start wit tha fastness and great content fa tha gangstaz!!! Tha hook’s definitely true about how y’all “livin’;” good shit! I’m glad y’all keepin’ this shit catchy ‘cause this easily iz tha best song on this CD, currently!!! Damn, tha 2nd verse was on point as fuck and now, tha 3rd verse doesn’t disappoint or decrease in quality!!! My Rating: 4.8

11. “You Can Run, But You Can’t Hide”
I like a title like dis! >>> This shit’s on ‘n’ poppin’, too; definitely official!! Tha content iz fa tha gangstaz, once again, and although tha rappin’s a touch slower, this shit’s just as good as tha previous song!! I like tha “you can run, but you can’t hide”-type of theme betta than tha “ghetto livin’”-type of theme. Damn, what a tight hook; gotta luv how it sounds!! I might like this betta than tha previous song? Damn, who would’ve guessed?!? Saved tha best for last!! Just like tha previous song, all tha verses are tha shit; nothin’ wack or good about these verses, ya dig?!? They’re pure/incredible!!! Great ending wit dat gutta-ass attitude!!! My Rating: 4.9

12. “Untouchable Soldiers (Clean Version)”
That’s what’s up dat y’all got a radio edit. See #7 fa tha review!

Overall: Damn, y’all definitely did tha damn thang and kept dat quality comin’ fa ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog!!! Hope y’all still alive and grindin’; keep up tha great work if y’all are!! You know I gotta get dis shit on my radio show ASAP!!!
