Review #1,351: Foxx "Shake Back"

Reviewed on 12.08.2013 (Review #1,351)

Keepin’ tha reviewz goin’, I got anotha Milliyone Musik review, up next: Foxx Shake Back! Start Time: 6:27 PM | End Time: 7:52 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it! After I was robbed by an artist who claimed they “get money,” hearin’ about how much you “got money” and anything “money” really bothers me. If you have not done business wit me before, I won’t tolerate “money” talk in tha music!!

01. “Shake Back (Intro)”
>>> An intro. Then, announced iz a Lil’ Cal production. Let’s see how this turns out fa an intro… Sounds good; you let those know that you ain’t neva stoppin’! My Rating: 4.2

02. “Let You Tell It”
>>> Anotha Lil’ Cal production, and this one sounds nice. Hearin’ how you deliver tha hook sounds catchy, like a hit single! Catchy how you deliver tha title, but more catchy when you say, “I don’t believe you!” Catchy wit tha 1st verse and how you say tha title a lot! Tha 2nd verse sounds good. Speakin’ of hittin’ your “phone,” I did text you about Track 18 off your Cold Blooded CD (what tha name of it was), but you ain’t text me back…; same wit Stryker Joe… You gotta be betta than Level, right? Luv how you’re examinin’ everyone’s actions throughout tha 3rd verse! Props fa this catchy-ass tune!! My Rating: 4.6

03. “It Could Be Worse”
>>> Just heard Big K.R.I.T. & Future “Just Last Week” on MCU’s New Music 101 (lol), and tha beat kinda sounds like that song, here, which sounds nice! Good job wit tha 1st verse, here; catchy shit… Ooh, catchy hook wit how you rap-sing tha title!! Again, anotha real catchy joint! Good shit comin’ outta tha 2nd verse, too! And, you got a 3rd verse, too, so let’s see what’s good, here… ROFL @ tha paranoia-like rhymes!! My Rating: 4.4

04. “Fuck Me For Boosie”
WTH??? >>> Lil’ Cal on tha track. Sounds jammin’, here, and this content/title sounds very familiar ta a song from not long ago… Despite its weird title, this iz a jam! You doin’ ya thang on tha 1st verse, too! Tha flow and vibe reminds me of Savage & Mouse’s “Shit Yeah”, from three years ago, too; great song ta remind me of!! Tha 2nd verse’s nice, too! Strictly diggin’ this song and this whole mixtape, so far!! Thinkin’ of this title, it’s stupid how my obsession I had for DJ B-Real, earlier this year (where I tried to promote him to tha max and make him tha most-important dude in Louisiana) was awkward. Meanwhile, some obsession like this for “Boosie” slides like it’s nothin’… I just think I’m not meant for this music world, anymore; too many have problems with me, for some reason… Anyway, good shit on tha 3rd verse, too! My Rating: 4.5

05. “Jigga Train”
Almost looks like an old title, but since it says, “*NEW*,” in tha filename, okay… >>> Lil’ Cal on tha track; he was unknown when I knew about this title… Catchy hook, and tha beat’s keys are on-n-poppin’! Tha 1st verse’s nice; you keepin’ tha jamz on-n-poppin’, in a consistent way! Strictly “smellin’ [yourself]” on tha 2nd verse; good shit! Tha 3rd verse has a lotta clothes you’re “wearin’,” here; good shit… “When I was 26, I sold my first mil;” thought it would’ve been 23, since that’s when “Wipe Me Down” popped off, but I guess a mysterious ’09 won you over? My Rating: 4.3

06. “Boys 2 Men”
>>> A lil’ slower, but more of a hood vibe, here… Tha hook sounds good, as you should “hit ‘em back.” How ‘bout when gettin’ robbed: If you have access to tha person who robbed you, do you secretly get money from them or what? Anyway, tha 1st verse’s good; nice rhymes… Tha 2nd verse sounds good, too; spittin’ facts on these dudes, right now! Tha 3rd verse iz nice, too… This a lil’ long fa a joint—ironic how wit tha Dogg Pay Attention CD I just reviewed, each song fit nice, with two verses. These three-verse songs can be a lil’ long, but at least there’s no wackness, here… My Rating: 4.2

07. Talk Back (Skit) Feat. Lil’ Cal
Ooh, a skit! >>> LOL, sounds like a train in tha beginning… Good thing tha “green” about tha “weed,” rather than boring money! LOL @ 0:40: I can tell y’all pressed pause, as there was a frame of pure silence! But, gotta luv how you & Lil’ Cal are high on this shit! And, at 1:19 & 1:23, some inserted sound effects. Random yada-yada about what you wanna “smoke,” here… LOL, you know I luv tha skits!! My Rating: N/A

08. “Smokin’ Loud”
>>> Blast from tha past on tha production, here (La’Keith). Only thing iz, this sounds real similar to Baton Rouge’s Ronny My’s “What A Bum (Free Kevin Gates)”, from four years ago. They got tha same “Waterman”-like sample, which I dig… Let’s see if this iz better… I like how tha hook sounds; glad you inta smokin’, and you feelin’ tha vibe, right now! I think I might’ve liked that Ronny My song betta, since I was inta undaground Gates, at tha time, lol. But, it sounds good on tha 1st verse; you got tha “loud” on lock! Tha 2nd verse sounds great, too; nice vibe! LOL @ “you be smokin’ shh!” Good job wit tha 3rd verse, too, as you’re catchin’ them in lies! As much as I said I liked tha Ronny My song betta, I believe tha rating’s tha same for me, right now… My Rating: 4.4

09. “Ride”
>>> Bad “press ignore” wit tha phone part in tha beginning, but tha hook/beat sounds nice wit ridin’! Tha 1st verse sounds good, too; how can you not “ride” ta this? Tha 2nd verse iz nice. ROFL @ “put tha wrong pic on Instagram, and they comin’ fa you;” random, but crazy! Good shit comin’ outta tha 3rd verse, too. I’m likin’ tha “tooth fairy” part at tha end of tha 3rd verse, too. My Rating: 4.5

10. “Retarded” Feat. Lil’ Cal & Yay Yay
>>> Lil’ Cal on tha beat. Sounds good and catchy on tha hook, here, ova this nice beat! Feelin’ how you nice and “high as Mars” on tha 1st verse; gotta luv what you come up with, Foxx! Lil’ Cal sounds nice wit his “retarded”-like content on tha 2nd verse, though his “yeahhhh” in tha beginning sometimes scares me ‘cause I think it’s Level… Hearin’ this Yay Yay dude on tha 3rd verse… I farted while his verse debuted, so let’s see if he’s technically tha shit or not… Sounds to me like he iz tha shit! Catchy voice on these Milliyone Musik Mafia tracks! Good shit; he brought a good voice ta tha table! Nice debuting verse fa me! My Rating: 4.4

½time: Anotha consistent, bangin’-ass CD from you, Foxx!! Your current score iz a 4.4 for tha CD rating!! That’s what’s up; keep tha consistent bangaz comin’, from a southerner’s perspective!!

11. “All Alone” Feat. K.T.
>>> Lil’ Cal production; I would’ve thought it was K.T. on tha beat. Anyway, why would a slow, soft beat like this need a beat tag, smh? Hook’s ehh… Here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ wit regular rhymes, but this negative topic about bein’ left’s kinda boring and not for me. Does this beat have, like, 0 BPM or somethin’? There’s no kicks! Tha 2nd verse ain’t bad, either. Really dry song, here, and a horrible way ta ruin tha consistency/start tha 2nd ½ off… My Rating: 2.0

12. “Fallin’ For A Stripper” Feat. Lil’ Cal
>>> Iz that Lil’ Cal in tha background of tha hook? Sounds like someone ain’t gettin’ credit… Either way, at least this an actual beat, this time! A lil’ soft again, but tha hook’s a lil’ on tha catchy side. Tha 1st verse ain’t bad; you got tha energy, but tha beat’s way too dry, once again! Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, but with a long-ass 4:25 on tha length, this iz pretty boring, now… And yea, an unsourced Lil’ Cal on tha 3rd verse, officially… At least there’s life in tha song, thanx ta him, surprisingly. However, baggage: “She took a 20 from me;” why couldn’t I get that “20” fa some services? Like, don’t you wanna buy a beat from me or somethin’ ($100 a beat), or get a commercial? Why everyone so dead, now-a-dayz? My Rating: 3.0

13. “Confused”
>>> A nice, laidback-soundin’ 225-like beat, here, and this iz okay, for a start… Tha hook sounds good, but why would confusion “make [you] do tha drugs [you] do”? You know how depressed and “confused” I be all tha time? I ain’t got no access fa “drugs.” I just grind and listen ta Gunplay ta get me through tha bullshit! Anyway, tha 2nd verse sounds like you’re confessin’ about a lot; lol @ tha “addicted ta syrup.” You fall for a lot, Foxx! Forgot ta mention: I like how you say tha title on tha hook! My Rating: 4.0

14. “None Of Yo Business”
>>> Lil’ Cal on tha track. Feelin’ tha “I’m fulla dat none-of-yo-business” in tha hook! Catchy, once again! Though tha title doesn’t have dashes in it, when you say, “I’m fulla dat none-of-yo-business,” that’s a compound modifier, where all tha dashes are used! That’s ‘cause you’re describing a noun. Good shit in tha 1st verse; you got shit goin’ on, here! Glad we’re 100% back inta tha vibe that we lost, earlier! Tha 2nd verse sounds good, too; you really flowin’ on this shit, right now! My Rating: 4.4

15. “Drama”
>>> Lil’ Cal on tha track. So far, an okay start. I’m feelin’ tha real shit you spittin’ on tha 1st verse, here… Tha hook ain’t too bad, either… So far, this sounds regular… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, either. Seems like tha beat’s holdin’ thangz down, here… “I love my babies, but I hate they mamas.” Unfortunately, that’s tha line that weakens almost every rapper I deal with. Once you got kids, your focus at full-time rappin’/bein’ promoted iz lost!! Either you’re a great rapper and suck terribly as a dad, or you’re a great dad and M.I.A. as a rapper! Tha 3rd verse sounds like you’re dealin’ wit a lot…, a lot that gets you mixed in tha wrong shit. My Rating: 3.5

16. “Blame It”
>>> Lil’ Cal production; almost sounds like Dogg in tha beginning, a lil’! Catchy hook; I’m feelin’ this! Gotta luv how you say, “Look what dat dope been done me;” talk about a tongue twister! Tha 1st verse sounds good, too; wow, this real catchy wit tha “Look what dat dope been done me/you,” every two bars!! Really feelin’ all tha shit you be on durin’ tha hook!! Tha 2nd verse nice, too; catchy, catchy, catchy!! Good shit throughout tha 3rd verse, too; “darker than Big Head,” huh? LOL! My Rating: 4.6

17. “What About”
>>> Surprisingly, I’m diggin’ this Joey Bada$$/New York-soundin’ vibe, here… Spittin’ some real-life shit throughout tha 1st verse, here, as it blends inta tha hook… Sux ta hear what you’re goin’ through. Just wonderin’, why get yourself inta so much? Tha 2nd verse sounds good, too… Seems like tha transition between tha verses and hook’s poor. Like, everything sounds tha same for tha beat… Tha 3rd verse was nice, too! Not too bad, overall… My Rating: 3.6

18. “Pussy So Good” Feat. Ice
>>> Very calm/quiet start? Oh, you barged outta nowhere on tha hook, lol! Rhymes seem good wit how you deliver ‘em, here; not a bad song, so far… An unlisted female on tha 2nd verse… She actually sounds betta than you on this joint! Why not list her? You’ll be sorry in tha future if she blows up!! Sounds a lil’ like a younger version of Trina! “Tastin’ every single ounce of me!” Wow, talk about tha revival of this song! Thank God for her ‘cause this would’ve been, like, only a 3.0 without her! My Rating: 3.8
EDIT: I got a betta idea: Lemme call you! LOL, curse of tha 18th track, Foxx!! You betta answer and not pull a Level on me… Geez, a not-working #. You must have a lotta money if you keep changin’ tha #! Now, lemme try Stryker Joe… No answer; don’t pull a Level on me, guys!!
EDIT #2: Had to go on tha MilliyoneMusikMafia YouTube page to find out that it's Ice on tha feature!!

19. “Drive & Shoot” Feat. Taco
Looks interestin’… >>> Beat sounds a lil’ familiar… Hmm, this sounds good for a “drive & shoot”-like track! Hearin’ tha 1st verse, and it’s good; almost sounds like a mainstream delivery, here… LOL @ “put ya ass up in tha tub. Let tha cleanin’ lady find ya;” wow! Here’s tha Taco on tha 2nd verse… Sounds like he’s ready, though tha lady from tha last joint prolly could’ve been called Taco, or betta yet, Cinnamon Twists (which I luv from Taco Bell), lol! Consistent from Mr. Taco, here; good job. Tha 3rd verse sounds good, too; pretty focused, here… My Rating: 4.1

20. “The Club” Feat. Lil’ Cal & Dogg
Of course, gotta have Dogg on tha CD, somewhere! >>> Anotha La’Keith beat, here… This sounds good; nice lil’ simple hook, too! Here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit some nice G-shit on this beat! Lil’ Cal on tha 2nd verse, here…; good shit! Dogg on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit some G-shit, too! Feelin’ it; good shit on this beat, too! “Left tha club early, we be waitin’ by ya truck!” Pretty intense, especially it bein’ “we,” and not just one person! My Rating: 4.3

21. “Sadiddy Bitch” Feat. Lil’ Cal & Dogg
And, anotha Dogg collab ta end this CD off! BTW, this CD’s, like, three minutes over an actual CD length (which means, this sold 0 copies in tha streetz?). Let’s see if this iz worth sacrificin’ sales in tha streetz! >>> Lil’ Cal beat. Feelin’ how this sounds; lol @ how you comin’ through on tha hook! I think it’s just this title, how it reeks humor! LOL @ tha 1st verse wit this girl who’s a “pill head!” Catchy-ass beat sounds that are addictive, here; you got shit on lock! Now, let’s see how this Lil’ Cal feature gon sound vs. tha previous one… Sounds great; I know I gotta feel this betta than tha previous joint! Dogg sounds good on this joint, too; nice job appearin’ on tha 3rd verse, once again! My Rating: 4.4

Overall: Sounds like a great CD! You did a nice job on this, despite tha beginning of tha 2nd ½… But, good job wit tha production team you had fa this, as well as deliverin’ some catchy music, non-stop!!
