Review #1,393: FrankieThaLuckyDog Presents "Tha Louisiana Archives Vol. 17: Tha Survivor’s Cave (Hosted by FrankieThaLuckyDog)"

Reviewed on 3.22.2014 (Review #1,393)

A couple reviewz ta do, right now… First up, it’s FrankieThaLuckyDog Presents Tha Louisiana Archives Vol. 17: Tha Survivor’s Cave (Hosted by FrankieThaLuckyDog)! Thank God that I survived doin’ tha mixtape compilations, after a low self-esteem and no positions booked, tha last time. Major props to Abe Son, from Boot Click Entertainment, fa helpin’ me out! He believed in my mixtapes, after seein’ me cry over it, durin’ my 2013 Louisiana Awards. And so, here we are! I got 17 positions booked, along with Lil’ Ken helpin’ out wit a bonus, and also, I threw in a few bonus jointz! I named this mixtape compilation after visiting a cave, and for tha survival of doin’ Tha Louisiana Archives. Now, lemme review this! Just so you know, I barely have heard any of these tracks. Just ‘cause I hosted, blended, and put this all together, doesn’t mean that I listened to tha tracks! For submission, I screened about 30 seconds of each track. When blending, I usually checked tha endings/beginnings of each joint. I also scanned their BPMs, so I placed songs in various positions, accordin’ to tha BPMs. Start Time: 10:07 AM | End Time: 11:17 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it! After I was robbed by an artist who claimed they “get money,” hearin’ about how much you “got money” and anything “money” really bothers me. If you have not done business wit me before, I won’t tolerate “money” talk in tha music!!

01. FrankieThaLuckyDog “Intro: Almost Gone, But Always Here…”
Like tha intro says, I survived! >>> I put a heartbeat in tha background, to show myself be in jeopardy, with this mixtape compilation… My Rating: N/A

02. Jiggaman “I’m The Jiggaman”
Gorillaville Records, here… Though I added this on my iTunes last month, it failed to chart on my playlist, due to DJ B-Real blocking me. Almost every Louisiana track I got around that time/had in rotation was prevented from puttin’ in work on my playlist. However, now that this iz on here, it may have a chance in tha future? We’ll see. Lemme give it a full listen, now… >>> A Modiggidy Beats beat, here, and ya gotta luv how hyped-up this iz!! Of course, pure “jiggin’” hook! And, tha 1st verse’s pretty nice, as always, wit him! I like tha questions as tha adlibs on tha hook: “Who you iz?” “Oh, fa’real?” Good shit! And, of course, tha drug-related shit ta get you in tha mood on tha 2nd verse! Like he (and I) said, “Opelousas in this bitch!” Yeah, “Jiggaman,” you “chew dem bitches up,” on tha 3rd verse; chomp, chomp! I like how I slowed it down at tha end! My Rating: 4.7

03. GT Da Boss Feat. High Risk “1000”
Hustle Hard Music Group, here; surprised this was submitted to me, all ‘cause I didn’t know GT was cool wit my boy, Abe Son. Also, I always give Skull Duggrey credit fa bein’ tha one that introduced me to tha sayin’, “1000;” he would always say it to me, when gettin’ off tha phone! My Current Rating: 4.4

04. Outlaw Muzik “Outer Space”
Outlaw Muzik in tha buildin’, here… They just dropped their debut album/mixtape, which I finna review after this mixtape of mine. Outlaw Muzik consists of Goldie, Damage & JT (f.k.a. J.T. The Creeper, or J.T. The Louisiana Boi). Tha three of them spent their time on Real Profit Entertainment, but are now with Outlaw Muzik, courtesy of Dernishia, who’s a great vice president and manager! Now, I screened this previously, and it was a great first listen! Now, lemme give it tha review! >>> Beat sounds nice, and a nice hook, here; all about bein’ “outer space,” just like myself, when it comes to havin’ Asperger’s! Nice background vocal from JT wit tha start of tha 1st verse, though this Goldie on tha 1st verse? Consistent, great vibe fa this mixtape! Catchy shit from Damage on tha 2nd verse, here; always dig his voice and how he comes through wit it! He failed to submit somethin’ ta me three issues ago, but at least Outlaw Muzik’s here ta help out! Yup, I got tha voices right, as JT’s on tha 3rd verse, here; good shit! “Invade ya!” “Get ya ass abducted!” Really killin’ niggaz, here, wit his “spaceship!” I like how I fixed tha cut-off ending by slowin’ tha last “spaceship” down! My Rating: 4.6

05. Lit’Mark Feat. Lil’ Handy “Evil Look”
A Guerrilla Squad Entertainment presentation, here… This, I know iz good, so I’m lookin’ forward to peepin’ it out! >>> Taken from Lil’ Handy’s “Cut The Lights On” joint, which it sounds nice as a hook sample! Plus, this beat’s a lil’ bit of a remake of that beat! Wow @ tha 1st verse from Lit’Mark: Definitely feelin’ tha jammin’, jiggin’-like vibe!! Crazy shit from Baton Rouge; jammin’-ass shit!! Tha 2nd verse sounds nice, too; crazy, consistent, great-paced flow!! “Ghost Town” in tha buildin’, too? Nice!! Sounds like my boy, Yung Yola, on tha 2nd verse wit tha “err-body ___” shit, like his latest song, “Everybody Thuggin’”! Real-great 1st listen fa me, here!! My Rating: 4.8

06. Big Dre “Baton Vietnam”
He’s got newer music out, but I liked this particular track. Slauter House Entertainment in tha buildin’, here, and I got into Big Dre after seein’ Calie Frankz post a pic of him on Instagram that it was his birthday. I followed him, and became more of a fan from tha amount of “shittin’ pics” he had; he a shitaholic, and I love it, lol! So, this got added, but failed to chart on my playlist ‘cause of tha B-Real-blocking that went on. But, it’s here, and lemme give it my review! >>> A lil’ slower vibe, here, fa tha intro, but ya gotta feel tha street shit he spittin’! Nice real rhymes from Dre on tha 1st verse, here. I like how he says tha hook part at tha end of tha 1st verse, and then, gets screwed on tha hook; nice combo! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice, too; good shit! He sounds a lil’ bit like $hizz, wit tha voice… My Rating: 4.5

07. Shakeback King “On My Shit”
Sponsored by Bread Truck Records! I know this iz a real catchy one—prolly, tha best one Abe Son sent me! Lookin’ forward to tha official, full first listen! >>> A Piper beat, here; didn’t recognize tha beat when I was blendin’ this together! But, I’m feelin’ tha hook a lot! I like that line a lot: “Mane, I’m on my shit, I think I need a pamper on me!” Damn, that “shit” smell’s strong! Wonder if he got shittin’ pics? Neva saw a pic of this dude, also… Tha 1st verse’s pretty nice; consistent, Baton Rouge-like flow that I luv! See, no Rick Ross/mainstream-like flows on my mixtapes!! Tha 2nd verse’s nice; nice “suckin’,” sex scene-like lyrics, mixed wit tha streetz, lol! I feel like “I’m on my shit” ‘cause of all tha business I’m doin’, outta nowhere, as well as gettin’ a job! And wow, tha beat changed up a lil’ bit, durin’ tha 3rd verse! Nice, hypnotic sounds fa tha 1st ½ of tha 3rd verse! LOL @ me on tha outro: “Pamper-smellin’ joint!” My Rating: 4.7

08. Geronimo Feat. Young Biz “What It’s Hitting Foe”
A Town Bound Entertainment presentation, here… Like I say on tha intro, “Tha next Gates?” Literally, when Abe sent me this, I had no idea who it was (‘cause of tha not-labeled file), and I was like, “I dunno if I can put Gates on here ‘cause he mainstream.” However, it’s this dude, Geronimo, and here I go wit tha review!! >>> Surprised that most of these jointz on this mixtape are less than three minutes long! Anyway, beat sounds nice, here, and it’s a “lean epidemic” on tha 1st verse, wit this Gates dude! He even said, “Feelin’ some type of way,” like it was Gates freestylin’ ova Rich Homie Quan! Tha hook’s pretty catchy, too; diggin’ tha title part… Tha 2nd verse from Young Biz’s pretty hood; I’m definitely diggin’ his voice! Pretty much like a Baton Rouge hyena!! Beat’s a lil’ plain, at times, but there’s some good sounds that keeps it on-n-poppin’! My Rating: 4.5

09. B-Teze Feat. Gutta & Lil’ Chris “Get ‘Em”
Souljamade Entertainment in tha buildin’ wit this one! B-Teze sent me his two tracks tha very last minute, and I held off wit mixin’ this tape together ‘til I got “‘em!” I didn’t even screen ‘em ‘cause I know he always comes through wit tha tracks, and I don’t have to worry ‘bout nothin’! >>> “K-Bone” as tha producer? Feelin’ this undaground, hidden treasure-like Ghost Town music, lol! Nice 1st verse, here; pretty gutta, right? Dude even got “Souljamade Entertainment tatted on [his] sleeve!” A grimy B-Teze voice before tha 2nd verse’s here; pretty serious wit them gunshots in tha background! And, tha 2nd verse’s pretty serious, too, from Mr. Teze! His throat must be so sore afta recording!! LOL @ “most niggaz where I’m from, like cigarettes, get smoked,” or whateva that line was; pretty serious! Tha 3rd verse’s pretty nice, too! No need fa a hook, here; just some tight, 225/Baton Rouge/Ghosttown verses!! My Rating: 4.7

10. Young MoMo “Deadwrong”
From tha Baton Rouge Bandits label, here… I forgot how this went, but I think it’s good; lemme hear… >>> Sounds like a cartoon sample wit tha, “Bang, bang! Bang, bang!,” in tha background; catchy! Bugs Bunny, anyone, lol? Tha hook’s pretty nice wit this pure-soundin’ street beat! “Shoot you up like heron;” scary! I only say that ‘cause I lost a 30-year-old cousin ta that! Tha 1st verse’s good; rhymes ain’t too bad, here, but at least tha flow’s on! I like tha “dirty city in tha dirty south” start ta tha 2nd verse, here… Ooh, “some new Girbauds;” glad he fuckin’ wit them ‘Bauds!! I always wear ‘em, and am still on tha hunt fa ‘em! Also, “225” in tha buildin’, here! Tha 2nd verse sounds much betta fa me, here!! I’m feelin’ this much more than I thought! I made it end pretty nice, too! My Rating: 4.6

11. Killa Sounz “Junk”
New Go Get It Music in tha buildin’! Got Killa Sounz on my IG, and he even shittin’! Caught my attention, and he even submitted to tha mixtape, due to us connecting! Legendary producer in tha undaground of Baton Rouge who’s produced for Yung Yola, and’s a part of tha Flippa Boyz! This joint’s not even two minutes long, but it’s a banga! Lemme give it tha full first listen! >>> Nice transition from tha ending of tha previous joint ta this quiet beat start! Sounds pretty nice, includin’ this bein’ an “ass” anthem! Almost sounds like Sims coulda had this joint… Tha only verse on this joint (I guess ‘cause it was sent to me as a snippet), and it’s nice; beat’s kinda plain, but its simpleness iz catchy, so that’s all that matters, here! Random guitar at 1:32, lol? I like tha ending, too! And, I have an outro, too… “Keep openin’ dat asshole up of yours, and keep shittin’ on dem bitch-ass haterz out there, who can’t handle your ones!” My Rating: 4.4

½time: Pretty mint, so far; definitely diggin’ it!! So far, this review’s worth a 4.6 fa me!! Really luvin’ all tha sent material, as I barely heard most of tha artists or jointz!! Abe Son really did a nice job helpin’ me out, and these artists are definitely what’s poppin’, fa me!! No depressin’, boring, jigg-hatin’ people, here!!

12. Mike Guy The Truth & FrankieThaLuckyDog “Just Chill”
A collaboration right chea, between Armed & Ready Entertainment, as well as my label, Lucky Dogz Entertainment! Mike Guy, outta Saint Joseph, LA, hit me up on Facebook, and wrote a track for me. However, because tha original lyrics were not all my personal rappin’ style, I had asked that we make this a collaboration, and that I’m featured. It turned out that I switched some of my lyrics, added my own lyrics on his verse, and even wound up producing and puttin’ it together, myself. I’ve heard it a few times, already, and, Mike did his verse on his phone; I like his voice a lot, when it comes ta rappin’! Gotta luv my added parts; tried ta come vicious, fillin’ in some parts! Because of tha constant, cold weather, I decided to make my parts about it bein’ cold out. And, tha “abandoned dungeon,” I’m referrin’ to Kings Park Psychiatric Center, which iz “abandoned!” Check out some pics (click each one to make it bigger):

As far as me on tha 2nd verse, it’s whateva; I didn’t write tha whole thang, so I couldn’t really express extra shit. At least I had tha 1st verse ta do some of dat! “Autistic to tha bone; no clone in what I do!” I hope to get that “2nd album” goin’, and when I say, “R.I.P. ta no one,” I’m referrin’ ta me neva losin’ anyone outside of tha family that I knew. Of course, that means, “My land ain’t die, like erosion;” “erosion”’s when people ruin land, and it changes its look… “I only bathe in tha frozen;” I hate this cold-ass weather!! My Current Rating: 4.7

13. $hop With Ken, YB & Scotty Cain Feat. Lil’ Boosie “Murder Crew (Remix)”
F.Y.N.I.C.—Forever Young Entertainment, here… I have tha original version on my playlist, which I only added ‘cause Ken’s rappin’ on it. I neva thought it would go further than that, but it did. However, I spiced it up on this mixtape and added tha remix. I dunno if it’s considered an official original version, or a remix, but I consider it both, at times. My Current Rating: 4.6

14. BluBlack Feat. Hannibal & Ar’Jay “Don’t F.W.M.”
Black Noise Records, here… Tha 3rd failed-to-enter-my-playlist-add-when-B-Real-blocked-me joint to appear on this mixtape… Though I’m glad it got submitted onto here, I don’t think it’s one of tha more exciting ones on this mixtape. Here goes my full review for it… >>> No offense, but I don’t like that voice on tha hook; sorry, Ar’Jay. Kinda awkward and sounds like it’s yearnin’ fa somethin’, ova a “Don’t Fuck With Me” title… Anyway, Hannibal on tha 1st verse, and at least there’s a good flow, here; good shit fa tha “Lane!” Beat’s okay, here, too; not much happenin’, at times… Thought that was Ar’Jay on tha 2nd verse? Maybe, it iz; wow, I’m so lost… However, I like how tha beat reversed at 1:46! Pretty catchy, or wait, Blu, iz that you? Can’t believe I’m confused, even though I put this on YouTube… Neva mind, it was Blu; sounds nice and morphed wit my pitch increase, here… Ar’Jay singin’ on tha bridge, here, afta tha 3rd hook… Kinda random, though it’s like, ehh, not really tha kinda voice fa this track. I liked tha whole The Big Picture CD betta than this joint, pretty much. Their new CD, FUPM, iz comin’ soon! My Rating: 3.7

15. Geronimo “Nothing 2 Lose”
Here’s tha 1st repeat artist; let’s see what this one sounds like, again… >>> This sounds nice wit tha Gates voice! Nice, good shit on tha 1st verse! “Stay your ground!” “I ain’t got nothin’ ta lose; all I got iz my word and my guide!” You already know, Geronimo! Definitely see a future in this dude!! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty good, too! “They lyin’ through they teeth; I’m a lion through tha beat,” or whateva, was definitely a nice line!! Gutta shit at its finest, fa tha streetz, here!! My Rating: 4.7

16. Spyda “By All Means”
An unsigned artist from Donaldsonville… >>> An okay start, here… Lyrics just sound like consistent rhymes, though they’re not special, fa me. A lil’ bit on tha mainstream tip, at times… Tha hook’s okay; here, we hear “swag,” for tha 1st time, on this mixtape; ehh… Tha 2nd verse’s okay, too; needs to be a lil’ catchier, but of course, it qualifies fa this mixtape, so it’s not terrible, ya dig? My Rating: 3.6

17. Hue Green “Like U Want Me”
Boot Click Entertainment, here… I remember blendin’ this together, and I have a feelin’ that this gon be my least-favorite track on this mixtape… >>> Yea, this repetitive hook and this beat ain’t that excitin’, fa me… Tha 1st verse’s whateva; more for tha ladies, here, but I’m not really feelin’ tha lyrics… I guess, tha good thing about gettin’ paid to be on here iz that there’s no bad memories; I won’t regret this! Wow @ tha 2nd verse’s start: “Lemme eat you like some seafood;” ouch! LOL! And, anotha “J. Holiday” reference; heard that dude be referenced in a previous review I did, not too long ago. However, that was for his “Bed”; this song has “Suffocate”, lol… My Rating: 3.2 (lowest-rated Tha Louisiana Archives song entry, eva? Unless I had a freestyle or somethin’, instead…? No offense…)

18. GT Da Boss “The Other Side”
A lil’ slower… GT doin’ a multi-personality job, here, between tha rappin’ and tha singin’… My Current Rating: 3.8

19. Lit’Mark Feat. Cee-Jay “Been Up, Been Down”
>>> This tha Young Hustla-produced track; couldn’t even remember it, at first… Either way, nice beat, and this anotha song about strugglin’, accordin’ to tha hook; at least tha beat’s pretty tight, this time… Tha 1st verse’s pretty nice; I’m feelin’ tha flow, once again; Lit’Mark really doin’ his thang!! Hope he stays active, especially wit me! So, Cee-Jay’s rappin’ on tha 2nd verse, here? I thought he was tha singer… Anyway, this ain’t too bad; regular rappin’ fa me, here… My Rating: 3.9

20. B-Teze Feat. Lil’ Jeff, Gutta & Noonie “Cuttin’ Up”
Lookin’ forward, once again; Ghosttown in tha buildin’! >>> I fixed tha volumes up, but this one averaged out to a quieter volume… Anyway, catchy hook; Baton Rouge’s hood at its finest!! Luv tha jigg vibe, too! Tha 1st verse’s pretty nice, too! “Souljamade” in tha buildin’, of course! Consistent, Ville Boyz-like 1st verse, here, and you gotta feel it! You can’t stop “rollin’” or reppin’ tha hood fa this “Ghosttown” anthem! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty gutta, here; really feelin’ tha voice!! “Got it tatted on my stomach;” what a representa fa “Souljamade,” here! Gotta feel it!! This tha kinda shit I luv; can’t deny it, and they neva come through soft, on this! No dickridin’, overrated Cain people, here!! Tha 3rd verse’s pretty nice, here; such greatness!! I don’t know who’s who on this, but you already know that a semi-blind review like this definitely passes, fa me!! Nice endin’ from me, wit that slowed shit! My Rating: 4.7

21. Outlaw Muzik “I Get Off”
Can’t wait to get to their whole CD, later! >>> Sounds nice wit Damage on tha hook! Good shit from Damage on tha 1st verse, here; keep tha rhymes and that Baton Rouge voice comin’! Quality at its finest, fa tha undaground, here!! JT’s on tha 2nd verse, and it’s pretty nice! Talk about a team, here; glad they’re on Outlaw Muzik, doin’ tha damn thang! “Carterboifresh,” like on Facebook, or should I spell it out like, “Carter Boi Fresh,” here, so it’s searchable? Either way, nice job, y’all! Got some Goldie on tha 3rd verse, and wow, where’d all those consistent rhymes come from?! Really diggin’ this fast vibe, lol!! Even, “Peek-a-boo, I see you?” Sounds tight on this kinda shit, lol! My Rating: 4.6

22. Shakeback King “My Feelings”
Endin’ it wit this… Lemme see which side this falls on, fa me; good or sappy? >>> Yea, just like my outro says, I hope I get some people to submit fa tha next one, too, and tha future editions! Nice voice, here; kinda Soulja Slim-like, and I only say that ‘cause, I think if I remember right, tha hook has a Slim sample? Oh yea, tha hook’s pretty nice; sounds like some future-classic-like Soulja Slim shit! Tha voice’s definitely like his, and it’s great for tha hood! Tha beat also sounds like it samples somethin’… Tha 2nd verse’s good, too; tha “streets” definitely have ta appreciate this! Damn @ “a nigga stole my car;” that’s rough! “Now, look at ya gun, and think about it;” streetacular…! A 3rd verse, here… Yea, “some soulja shit;” goes wit Soulja Slim! He shouted out “Bread Truck,” too, here, so he representin’ fa his label! A semi-soundin’, Phil Collins “In The Air Tonight”-like shit at tha end, wit tha, “I can feel it…” My Rating: 4.5

Overall: Damn, this CD’s over? I thought it neva was gonna end! Just great how I put it together, and tha jointz were definitely nice, here! Lots of great new artists fa me ta look forward to, and tha only place you gon continue ta hear them iz with me! Yea, until they, wheneva, release any debut albums/mixtapes! Let’s make Vol. 18 anotha success! This will go down as one of my favorite releases from me!
