Review #1,902: Silkk The Shocker "Made Man"

Reviewed on 12.25.2019 (Review #1,902)

Here comes anotha review: Silkk The Shocker Made Man, released in 1999 on No Limit Records & Priority Records…! Start Time: 5:20 PM | End Time: 6:50 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “The Day I Was Made”
Producer: O’Dell
>>> Sounds like an okay intro, here… Sounds like spoken-word rappin’, here? Bad flow; barely wanted to pay attention…! My Rating: 2.1

02. “Somebody Like Me” feat. Mýa
Producer: Whole Records
>>> Interestin’ collab; I always thought Mýa was a hottie…! Great job wit her on tha hook; she definitely provides tha singin’ nicely! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s okay wit your rhymes; sounds like you wanna speak more than rap, tho? Likin’ Mýa’s background vocals, every now & then…! Tha 2nd verse not bad but I can’t believe I like tha singin’ tha most outta tha track, here! That’s a rare feat! Mýa sounds like INOJ “Love You Down” when she sings, “You really are too ghetto fa me;” sounds good… Once again, Silkk, if you coulda had a betta flow, I woulda liked this betta… I’ll give it tha benefit of tha doubt & give it a flat 4.0, at least… My Rating: 4.0

03. “It Ain’t My Fault 2” feat. Mystikal
Producer: Craig B
My Current Rating: 4.5

04. “Ghetto Rain” feat. Master P & O’Dell
Producer: Craig B
>>> Tha beat a lil’ soft fa me, here… Hearin’ tha hook from O’Dell & it cool fa singin’; not too bad… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from P & it’s pretty straight-forward; nice aggression… Here you are on tha 2nd verse & I’m not feelin’ this spoken-word rappin’! It’s like you got tha Mr. Serv-On curse, smh! I do feel tha “you see me smilin’? I’m just camouflagin’ my problems” line, as that’s what I’m goin’ through, right nah. People don’t know what I’m goin’ through, so they only see tha positives, fa now… My Rating: 2.4

05. “This Is 4 My”
Producer: KLC
>>> Beat sounds good; rhymes on tha 1st verse good & tha flow’s just a touch betta… Tha hook str8; I fucks wit it, even tho I’m not too crazy wit how this sounds, overall… Tha 2nd verse okay; I gotta get mo used ta you, I guess? My Rating: 3.4

06. Commercial One
>>> Ouch @ tha “real name;” nice lil’ commercial… My Rating: N/A

07. “You Know What We ‘Bout” feat. Jay-Z & Master P
Producer: Craig B
>>> Sounds like an anthemic beat & hook, here; let’s see how tha verses go… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it ehh/okay; I guess it flows, right? Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on from Jigga, here… I may not like him but he sound good wit this contribution, here; nice job, Jigga… Got tha 3rd verse from P, here, soundin’ nice; good shit, I guess? He “run this like drug money,” accordin’ ta tha success of No Limit… “Pass tha weed ‘cause souljaz like to…;” you know what it iz! I’m a tru soulja, most definitely! My Rating: 3.8

08. “I Want To Be With You” feat. O’Dell
Producer: KLC & O’Dell
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ call; a lil’ bit of fuck action finna pop off? Sounds like she sick of you & tha “studio,” here; she wanna “shop,” instead? I’ono but let’s see how y’all do wit this track… Hearin’ tha beat & it sounds good; almost sounds like it goes wit Christmas, despite today bein’ Christmas? Tha hook sounds catchy wit O’Dell, this time; good shit… Got tha 1st verse from you & it decent; I’ll just say dat. Tha 2nd verse from you sounds okay, as well; I guess it’s just tha way you rap wit this flow? Tha rest consists of hooks & O’Dell singin’; not bad, tho kinda below-average fa me… My Rating: 3.1

09. “All Because Of You” feat. Mia X
Producer: KLC
>>> Sounds like an okay hook & beat, here; not much ta say… Mia on tha 1st verse, here, comin’ through wit some okay/good rhymes… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from you & it’s ehh… Also, tha beat sounds annoying with tha mixin’ & beatboxin’; doesn’t mix well? My Rating: 2.6

10. “No Limit” feat. Fiend & Mystikal
Producer: KLC
>>> “N-O-L-I-M-I-T” fa tha hook, here; anthemic & nice, this time…! Fiend + You = $ucce$$, or should I say, “N-O-L-I-M-I-T!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you & it str8; sounds good wit tha aggression… Diggin’ Mystikal’s short appearance but why so minimal? My Rating: 4.2

½time: Not really goin’ as great as I thought this would go… Your flow doesn’t impress me, most of tha time; gotta work on it! Your features do help you out, at times, especially Mystikal; a 3.3-rated CD, so far…

11. “End Of The Road” feat. Sons Of Funk
Producer: Sons Of Funk
>>> Sounds slow & spoken-wordish on tha 1st verse, here…; I’ono… Hearin’ tha hook wit tha SoF singin’ & it’s not that great fa me; no sad songs…! Keepin’ tha 2nd verse goin’ on wit tha sadness; sucks, especially when you wish “it was [you],” in tha “casket.” Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & I don’t really have any comments ta continue wit this one… My Rating: 1.9

12. “We Won’t Stop” feat. Master P & C-Murder
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Beat sounds okay, here… Hearin’ tha hook from P & it sounds good wit P reppin’ fa his “tank’s in tha wall” & tha movement… Keepin’ it movin’ wit P on tha 1st verse & it sounds good… Got tha 2nd verse from C, here, soundin’ good; felt short but I’m glad he contributed… Hearin’ you on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit some betta-soundin’ shit; good aggression, too… My Rating: 4.1

13. “Mr. ‘99”
Producer: KLC
>>> You’re tha “Mr.” throughout tha 1st verse, here; nice, includin’ tha okay-soundin’ beat, too… Tha hook blends in nicely wit tha track, thanx ta all these “mista” parts; good job… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it str8; nothin’ else ta really say… My Rating: 3.7

14. “It Takes More” feat. Ghetto Commission
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Sounds good wit tha hook & beat, here; nothin’ but Louisiana music I’m drownin’ in, these dayz! Gotta luv it, as I’m progressin’ wit my work ethic…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds good wit tha GC; good shit…! Mo GC shit on tha 2nd verse, here, keepin’ this N.L.-for-tha-N.O. shit comin’! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & I’m feelin’ tha aggression. Glad this has nothin’ slackin’ wit it; true No Limit shit, here! My Rating: 4.3

15. “If It Don’t Make $”
Producer: DJ Whop
>>> Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it str8; beat decent ta rap on, too, wit some nice bass… Hearin’ tha hook & it’s your typical “if it don’t make $, then it don’t make sense” shit; not bad… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it str8, as well; a decent lil’ track, here… My Rating: 3.5

16. “It’s Going Around Outside” feat. Rico of Sons Of Funk
Producer: Rico
>>> Sounds dry & sappy, here; not feelin’ tha singin’ vibe on tha 1st verse… Then, your spoken-word rhymes come, here; does it even fit right fa a rap song?? Can’t feel it; sounds more like it shoulda been an outro… My Rating: 1.2

17. “Put It On Something” feat. Mia X
Producer: Craig B
>>> Beat str8; hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & this flow ain’t fa me, speakin’ & shit… Hearin’ tha hook & it aight; fuck tha liarz & just do you! Hearin’ Mia on tha 2nd verse & it str8 fa this below-average track… Got you on tha 3rd verse, here, keepin’ that spoken shit goin’… My Rating: 2.0

18. Commercial Two
>>> Sounds okay wit this chick speakin’… I like how you flip “It Ain’t My Fault” into “it ain’t my type,” here; nice…! My Rating: N/A

19. “Southside Niggas” feat. Master P & C-Murder
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Beat nice & hype, here; feelin’ what’s goin’ on… C on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit some nice shit fa tha No Limit fam… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds nice; all about tha “southside” representation…! Hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse & this sounds betta fa tha spoken-word shit; not bad… Mo shit from you, here, on tha 3rd verse? Did I miss P? I’ono but I guess he blended in here, somewhere… My Rating: 3.9

20. “Get It Up” feat. Snoop Dogg
Producer: Beats By The Pound
>>> Sounds good fa this west vs. south beat, here… Snoop on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit some nice flava fa you, here; good shit… Hearin’ Snoop on tha hook & yeah, dis dat No Limit party, here; nice…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds good wit you, here; not bad wit tha flow, as well…! Got you on tha 3rd verse, wit some Snoop parts & it sounds nice; nice lil’ endin’ track, overall… My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Fell below tha average mark, as far as my ratings go… Didn’t really like your flow, as it was more on tha spoken-word/Mr. Serv-On tip, here… Some of your features were able ta help you out but fa tha most part, a bunch of shit didn’t fit on here…
