Review #1,689: Lady Red "Hi A Lady"

Reviewed on 3.19.2017 (Review #1,689)

Happy 53rd day in a row of reviewin’ CDs & only seven more dayz till my dream comes true!! Here’s my next review: Lady Red Hi A Lady, released in 1998 on Hi-Powered Records… Start Time: 1:54 AM | End Time: 2:54 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Hi A Lady”
>>> Beat’s kinda dry but sounds good wit tha high feelin’, on tha hook? Like, a “higher lady!” Mainly, a decent job done, here, wit tha rhymes and this hook… My Rating: 3.6

02. “Trouble Minded” feat. Trub-O-Minded
>>> Decent lil’ hook, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like features, here; not bad… Trub-O-Minded on tha feature fa “Trouble Minded”, lol… Either way, decent lil’ track, overall… My Rating: 3.4

03. “Rowdy (Remix)”
>>> Just sounds like a decent lil’ bounce song or somethin’; feelin’ tha “rowdy”—well, more hyped-up vibes, here… My Rating: 3.7

04. “Playa Hatin’ Hoes” feat. Trub-O-Minded
>>> Sounds like a decent track, here… Trub-O-Minded helpin’ you out, here, and it’s not bad… Tha hook from you aight; nothin’ I can really say about it… My Rating: 3.1

05. “We Can Get It On”
>>> Decent hook, here; decent lil’ southern beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad, here, wit what you’re bringin’ to tha table… Tha rest of this iz decent… I’m just not in tha mood for anything, lately… My Rating: 3.3

06. “Smokin’ Dat Weed (Remix)”
>>> Just sounds like anotha decent bounce track; nothin’ special… All these tracks are at least four minutes long and seem like they’re draggin’… My Rating: 3.0

07. “Gangsta Like Me” feat. Lil’ T
>>> Sounds like it gon be a decent lil’ collab, here… I don’t have much ta say but it’s pretty nice, here… Feelin’ tha hype but I’ono, it must be female rap that I’m just not havin’ much ta say about… My Rating: 3.2

½time: A 3.3-rated CD, so far… Nothin’ really much ta say about this CD, here…

08. “As Death Knocks” (Gangsta J & B. Dogg)
>>> Just males, here? Should be much betta… Tha hook sounds nice wit this decent/southern beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s not bad, here; decent lil’ track, still… My Rating: 3.5

09. “Smokin’ Dat Weed (Original)”
>>> Still tha same vibe I’m gettin’ like tha remix… Maybe, this a lil’ betta but still, nothin’ really ta say, here… My Rating: 3.3

10. “Gotta Make Dat Paypa” (Capone)
>>> Sounds like a decent lil’ hook but I’m diggin’ some of tha eerie sounds in this bounce beat, here… Tha 1st verse from Los Capone pretty nice, as well as him on tha hook… And, Capone on tha 2nd verse, too, doin’ his thang… My Rating: 3.7

11. “Have What I Want!”
>>> Sounds like a decent track from you, here, wit tha hook and how you handlin’ this bounce beat… Tha verses are ehh; what am I gonna say? Catchy flow, I guess… My Rating: 3.2

12. “‘Bout Dat Money” feat. Los Capone
>>> Decent track from y’all, here… Tha beat’s a lil’ more upbeat and better-soundin’ than some of tha bounce shit on here… Y’all sound nice on tha 1st verse, here, doin’ ya thangz… Lol @ tha “’98 Cherokee;” bad enough I had a ’94 one! It’s funny ‘cause at this time, it was a brand-new jeep!! My Rating: 3.6

13. “Rowdy (Original)”
>>> Sounds aight but my mood dropped further since I reviewed tha remix on here… Sounds like a feature? Damn with all these mixed-up features… My Rating: 3.1

14. “I’m Still Thuggin’” (Notorious Nate)
>>> Just a decent track; nothin’ ta really say… This Nate comin’ through wit some catchy rhymes but there’s nothin’ blowin’ my mind, here… My Rating: 3.6

15. “Given It Up 2 Where We Stay” feat. Jack-Artist
>>> Nice lil’ representation fa “New Orleans,” on tha hook! Also, sounds pretty nice wit tha 1st verse, here, as this Jack-Artist does his thang… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ pretty nice, here; can’t complain wit tha nice vibe… And, keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, soundin’ nice, too… Nice lil’ reference ta “Girbauds,” too… And, surprisingly, this became my favorite track on this CD! My Rating: 3.8

Overall: Wasn’t too crazy about this… Every joint was just okay with nothin’ special to offer, here… There were no 4.0 ratings and this was just anotha female CD…
