Review #1,966: 310 Connection "Category 5, Vol. 1"

Reviewed on 6.01.2021 (Review #1,966)

Smh, I had ta lay down ‘cause my neck trippin’. It’s like, no matter if I try & calm a part of my body down, anotha part gets aggravated. Now, luckily, I’m able ta review my 3rd release for today: 310 Connection Category 5, Vol. 1, released in 2000 on 310 Hurricane Records; New Orleans, stand up! Start Tyme: 10:29 AM | End Tyme: 11:35 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

Link To Release: N/A

01. Intro: UPT News
>>> Good to kick it off with tha “don’t judge me by tha color of my skin” perspective; true dat! I don’t want people to “judge me by tha color of my” disability: Asperger’s. My Rating: N/A

02. “Board Ya House Up”
>>> Pretty dope-soundin’ hook & beat; gotta feel tha energy & guttaness! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & tha rhymes are definitely official!! Reminds me of tha Graveyard Soldjas; fast-ass rappin’, like my fast-ass 121 WPM typin’!! Hearin’ tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse & this shit’s definitely on-n-poppin’! Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, now & it’s a slower flow but tha energy’s still here fa tha streetz…! Tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse sounds good fa tha streetz, too, in a regular-paced perspective. My Rating: 4.5

03. “Flossin’”
>>> Sounds like anotha cool beat fa tha year 2-0-0-0; good beginning, so far… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s cool, with its N’awlinz-ass… Hearin’ tha hook & it str8; just anotha cool way ta floss, basically. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds like a cool dude rappin’, 310 style; keep on “Flossin’”! A chick on tha 3rd verse, here? She sounds aight; I’m feelin’ her aggressive vocals, so I’ll give her props. Switchin’ up ta two dudes on tha 2nd part of tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ cool ta keep it movin’; good shit… “Every rhyme we write iz like a crime at night”; deep… My Rating: 4.0

04. “No Games”
>>> Sounds like tha Graveyard Soldjas-type of style, again; good shit! Diggin’ tha swift-soundin’ hook; good shit! Beat sounds pretty nice fa tha hood, too; feel tha “eer-err”! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & tha flow/rhymes cool; semi-swift flow with tha pure, street vibe! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds like a younger version of tha Graveyard Soldjas, this tyme; not bad with tha rhymes, overall… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & it sounds good; just anotha street-soundin’ verse applyin’ pressure. Hearin’ tha 4th verse, right nah & it str8; just a lotta rhymes but not as catchy as tha Graveyard Soldjas-soundin’ flows. Seems like a really long track but it ain’t too-too long ta tolerate. My Rating: 3.9

05. “Jealous Bitches”
>>> Sounds like a cool lil’ undaground beat fa tha N.O., here… Ehh, not too sure about kickin’ it off wit a female rapper on tha hook & 1st verse, here…; umm, nothin’ much ta say. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & I don’t have much ta say ‘bout dis verse, as well; decent, to say tha least. Got a 3rd verse goin’ on, here…; sounds okay, once again, but too long of a track fa me. My Rating: 3.1

06. “Intermission”
>>> Nice “Intermission”—oh wait, at :29, here comes some crazy-paced rappin’! Can’t get betta than this! However, will this be tha top-rated track, lol? Sick-ass delivery & rhymes!! Too bad it all acapella but it’s too dope! Glad tha “chronic” iz why tha rhymes came to life like that! My Rating: 4.8

07. “Rocks On The Stove”
>>> Nice lil’ eerie beat fa tha streetz & tha hook’s dope; gotta make a way through tha day! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds like where tha “Intermission” left off; focus iz definitely on point! Well, since I thought tha “Intermission” needed a beat, well, here iz one! I just think tha rhymes & pace sounded a lil’ hotter on tha “Intermission” but this still nice af! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s good; not as catchy as tha fast-paced 1st verse but a nice contribution, tho. Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & it’s pretty consistent; definitely nice wit all these rhymes & “multiple shots,” punchline-wise! My Rating: 4.5

08. “Freak Hoes”
>>> A good/decent beat with an okay hook; let’s see how tha verses turn out… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds like a meet-n-greet with a chick; decent, tho it sounds more story-like, with tha verse’s delivery. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & this story-like flow continues…; it’s not bad but it seems like preachin’ ta me. “I came & left like tha rain”; that’s how it be. Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & it’s more on tha in-tha-mood perspective, as far as tha flow & content; not bad… My Rating: 3.2

09. “Battle”
>>> Hi-Hats are pretty dope in this intro, here; diggin’ how they comin’ through…! Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds like a good lil’ street anthem; good shit, y’all! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds good with these strings of tha beat gettin’ more intense; good shit! Tha rhymes are on point, too; gotta keep tha aggression comin’! Got a 2nd part of tha 1st verse comin’ & it’s cool with its gangsta content; keep it movin’…! Oh boy, “tha female beast” on tha 2nd verse, here… I’m feelin’ her consistent rhymes, at least; not too bad of a contribution, overall. Switchin’ up to one of tha rapid-spittin’ dudes on tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse, here, feelin’ real grimy; good shit…! Got more rapidness on tha 3rd verse, here—even more rapid & it’s definitely what’s up! Dude got such a flow; can’t be tamed or denied!! Dude too cold!! My Rating: 4.4

½tyme: Dope release, here; feelin’ tha undaground vibes with tha grimy dudes on tha mic! Keep that aggressive, consistent shit comin’! A 4.1-rated ½tyme rating, currently; continue ta hold…it…down!

10. “Work That”
>>> Energetic-soundin’ beat fa tha hood, here; good shit! Tha 1st verse’s pretty nice; gotta hold it down fa those that “Work That”, ya feel me? Good-soundin’ hook, too; “work” & “twerk”tastic, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it cool with tha energy; 504ness at its finest! Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, here & it ain’t bad ta hear; just keep droppin’ this club shit & you’ll be good. A 2nd part of tha 3rd verse, here, blendin’ right in with tha 3rd verse’s 1st part; good shit…! My Rating: 4.2

11. “This Shit Is Chaos”
>>> Beat sounds cool fa tha undaground/2000, here; hook nice with its gangsta-soundin’ vocals, as well…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s good; keepin’ it “G” at all tymes, here…! Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ gangsta ta keep it movin’, as well; can’t deny it! Got more comin’ with tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ more like regular rappin’ than tha gangsta perspective; still str8, tho. “I’m leavin’ ya red like Mars”; ouch! That one burns, lol? My Rating: 4.1

12. “Your Time’s Up”
>>> Cool beat & cool hook, here; make them run outta tyme, ya dig? Pretty consistent with how tha 1st verse starts; definitely nice! Feelin’ tha consistency; always let it shine in tha rhymes—see how that rhymed?! “Like chicken, I play raw”; ewe, lol! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds nice ta hear; basically, it’s your shit in tha hood, depicted. Damn @ tha “breathe again, like Toni Braxton” line, as you wanna take y’all enemies’ breath away; deep. Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & it ain’t bad; kinda seems like this joint’s draggin’, tho… My Rating: 3.7

13. “Don’t Fuck With Us”
>>> Sounds good with this beat & tha 1st verse, tho I’ono if it’ll be too long with its 5:06 length. Ironic ‘cause on tha last review, I was like, “5:02 + 0:02 = 5:04.” Now, it’s like, 5:06 0:02 = 5:04, lol. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s only an okay/good verse; there was catchier shit on here, tho. Hearin’ tha hook & it ain’t too bad; y’all just keepin’ it movin’, basically. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it ain’t bad; good lil’ contribution, once again, just keepin’ it movin’… Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit a betta flow; props fa tha quality. Feelin’ tha “no hesitation”; that’s tha way ta be…! Got a 2nd part of tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit a N’awlinz-based voice, of course; sounds like anotha unique contribution. My Rating: 3.8

14. “Watch Where You Lay”
>>> Sounds like some sorta pony, horse or somethin’ in tha beginning, lol? Unique beat sound? Sounds catchy & energetic, here, especially with tha gangsta-soundin’ content on tha hood; nice combo! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s pretty nice; gotta feel what’s bein’ brought to a gangsta’s table, here… Tha chick on tha 2nd verse, here? Almost thought it was but tha dude pretty aggressive on tha mic; good verse/lyrics, ya feel me? Keep tha hype comin’…! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & it ain’t bad with this contribution; good lil’ set of rhymes, here… My Rating: 4.3

15. “‘Bout Anything”
>>> Beat sounds good; this track sounds quieter than tha usual hype on here? Hmm…; a good lil’ hook, as well. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds good; just continuously layin’ tha rhymes for tha streetz, here. Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit some decent rhymes, as well; props fa layin’ it down. Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ like a good representation; props. Hearin’ tha 2nd part of tha 3rd verse & it good ta hear, as well; good shit, y’all. My Rating: 3.7

16. “Flossin’ (Vincent Radio Remix)”
A repeat of #03? >>> Sounds like somethin’ different, here; let’s see how this goes… This version sounds a lil’ less excitin’; nothin’ much to add to tha review I already did for it, earlier as Track #03… Hearin’ tha beat part of tha hook & those trumpets don’t seem ta go with tha previous “Flossin’”? Also, tha “Triggaman” sample on tha 2nd verse; it’s like, random additions? My Rating: 3.5

17. “The Conversation”
>>> Beat ain’t bad, tho I’ono how much I’ll dig this if this just a “conversation”-like song… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & I’m not feelin’ this “conversation”-like flow; seems like it can bore, easily… Hearin’ tha rest of this & it’s literally a bunch of blah-blah ta me; not really impressed… My Rating: 2.7

18. Outro: UPT News
>>> Good lil’ outro, here; keep on hustlin’…! My Rating: N/A

19. “Surprise Attack”
>>> Continuin’ with tha outro, here? Or, iz tha “surprise” rappin’, just like tha “Intermission”? Oh boy, seems like it gon be, as a sample of a track starts at 0:30…! Lol, sounds like a silly club/street banga with tha “attack! Attack!” shit; catchy. Hearin’ tha verse provided & it’s cool; seemed like it was a cool lil’ track ta appear on somethin’ after this? We’ll see if I’ll review it, one day… My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Most of this was pretty nice; I give y’all props fa holdin’ dat 504 down! Continue ta do it big, 21 years later!
