Review #1,974: Big Tymers "I Got That Work"

Reviewed on 6.02.2021 (Review #1,974)

Goin’ fa my 6th review fa today! Can’t imagine how many years it’s been since I did six in one day! But, here goes my review fa Big Tymers I Got That Work, released in 2000 on Cash Money Records & Universal Records; S/O to Mannie Fresh fa producin’! Start Tyme: 8:15 PM | End Tyme: 9:29 PM

Disclaimer:
I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro feat. Lovely & Atrice
>>> Luv how I started tha review at 8:15 PM, Nipsey Hu$$le birthday tyme! As far as this intro, it sounds like y’all really in tha driver’s seat for tha bitches, here; crazy! Crazy what y’all can do with y’all intentions! My Rating: N/A

02. “Get Ya Roll On”
This one well known! Throwback/Classic tymes of 21 years ago! I didn’t realize how special Louisiana rap was, when I was a pre-teen/13-year-old. I did remember that I respected it a lot; I loved Lil’ Wayne at Age 14! Just luv tha anthemic vibes of tha “roll on” & just how tha two of y’all rep this joint to tha fullest! Tha whole flow, tha hype, tha energy; definitely in a plaque, in my book! I’m fulla dem edibles, right nah, just really appreciatin’ this! My Current Rating: 4.9

03. “Nigga Couldn’t Know” feat. Lil’ Wayne
>>> Gotta luv how Weezy comin’ through on tha 1st verse! Luved “Project Bitch” when I was 12 & didn’t realize Lil’ Wayne was on that, right away! I discovered him pretty early; S/O to Weezy! Luv how tha beat sounds & how y’all come through with tha street-type shit, on tha hook; y’all know what it iz…! Here we go wit Baby on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit that everyday-in-tha-hood feelin’; huh bruh. Got Mannie Figgy-Figgy-Fresh on tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ more like he just talkin’? This talk-rap flow kinda ehh; just seemed like filler? My Rating: 4.4

04. “#1 Stunna” feat. Lil’ Wayne & Juvenile
Oh, Geez; luv how this came on outta nowhere! Definitely anotha throwback classic; S/O to y’all two + Wayne & Juvie! Literally, a perfect way to express how you can celebrate your own success! Luv how N’awlinz Juvie & Weezy were, here!! Like, radio really needed that grimy, 504 dialect! Like, they just luved to be here! That’s what you gotta have in ya! My Current Rating: 4.9

05. Big Chief (Skit) (Ziggy)
>>> Gutta-azz Ziggy, here, comin’ through with tha hoodest-of-tha-hood, here! Like how B.G. had “Hottest Of The Hot”, 19 years ago? Now, two years older: “Hoodest Of The Hood”; that’s what I woulda came up with! But yeah, hope to meet Ziggy, one day; gotta luv how he has maximum energy on tha mic, skit-wise! My Rating: N/A

06. “No, No” feat. Lil’ Wayne
>>> Sounds like a catchy-ass track with tha Figgy-Figgy-Fresh beat & how Wayne collaborates wit y’all! Luv how y’all make “No, No” a title that represents not just a turn-away but a comedy-like sound with tha way this sounds; huh bruh! Gotta luv how catchy this whole entire shit goes! Like round & round; that’s what I feel like tha “no, na-no” shit really goes around your head, like sheep, lol…! Js! Luv how all three of y’all held it down, consistently; really zoned into that title part! It’s nice & infectious…! My Rating: 5.0

07. “We Ain’t Stoppin’” feat. Hot Boy$
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ 1st verse from Juvie, here; feelin’ how he brings his all to tha hood fa y’all…! Got Lil’ Wayne on tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse, here, comin’ through wit some gutta street shit; gotta feel it to tha max! Also, B.G. on tha hook, here? Definitely catchy, here & now, transitionin’ to both Figgy-Figgy-Fresh & Tiggy-Tiggy-Turk? Awesome with how y’all two came through on tha 2nd verse! Ooh! Birdman & Weezy on tha 3rd verse, as if it was Like Father, Like Son, which wound up bein’ six years later! Luv how they alternate from Birdman to Weezy, on tha 3rd verse; definitely an awesome way of mixin’! My Rating: 4.8

08. “My Life” feat. B.G., Juvenile & Turk
>>> Sounds like a calmer track but still catchy, on tha hook; good lil’ Figgy-Fresh, here… Also, Figgy-Fresh iz on tha 1st verse, comin’ through with a catchy lil’ vibe, here… Hearin’ B.G. talk about his “rough life” b4 tha 2nd verse came in & I thought that was somethin’ special ta add… Either way, hearin’ Fresh on tha 2nd verse & I feel like it’s a mix between a long hook & a less-catchier vibe? Let’s see how tha rest of them boyz do… Hearin’ Birdman on tha 3rd verse & I can see where tha Fresh’s long hook came outta; tha “My Life” repetition iz tha catchiness. Just hearin’ that title part frequently iz a similar type of repetition that came through in one of tha previous tracks & I really latched on to it! Shout out ta Turk makin’ a lil’ appearance on tha check-in, b4 tha 4th—oh wait, no rappin’ from him? Damn; just…an…out…r…o……… My Rating: 4.2

09. “Sunday Night” feat. Lil’ Wayne
>>> Sounds like a laidback-type of beat, here, ridin’ on dem “dubs,” as well… S/O to Baby fa holdin’ down tha 1st verse; who woulda thought those “DVDs” would be on tha extinct tip, like Blockbuster? Keepin’ this shit goin’ with tha hook & it sounds str8; almost sounds like y’all tryin’ too hard? “Sunday Night”; like, “Ight”, as in “aight”, lol? Anyway, y’all got Weezy on tha 2nd verse & I’m really feelin’ his presence; definitely nice with what he brought to tha table, with his 17/18-year-old-ass! His representation was alwayz cool, back then! With Mannie Fresh on tha 3rd verse, here, it sounds like anotha spoken-word set of rhymes; not really feelin’ it fa a flow… It sounds like he’s readin’ a checklist off or somethin’…! His semi-cheesy hook sounds betta than his verse? Who woulda knew?! “Goin’ up ta 2001…”; huh bruh. It’s funny ‘cause that’s where I’m goin’ with my old Louisiana reviewz that I’m doin’. Though I will resume it again at sometyme, I’m goin’ from 2000 – 2008, from what I collected & didn’t get ta review, yet. With that bein’ said, it sounds like a long outro, too… My Rating: 4.0

½tyme: Sounds like a real awesome release, with lots of quality energy! A coupla Fresh fuck-ups but with him on tha whole album’s production, at least he really has tha tracks on lock, somewhere! Also, an awesome 4.6 for tha average rating, so far; keep achievin’ those stiggy-stiggy-starz…!!

10. “10 Wayz”
>>> Sounds like anotha checklist from Fresh; this one sounds like it’s more for tha beach, too! Geez, that hook sounds like so much fun or somethin’; like, this was tha sound to appreciate to tha fullest, ethically. Keepin’ this movin’ with Fresh on tha 2nd verse & this sounds more like rappin’, at least; props fa tha slightly-betta flow, Figgy-Figgy-Fresh…! Got a 3rd verse from Fresh, too, comin’ through with tha most-Mannie Fresh of Mannie Fresh’s verses on here; more piggy-piggy-props ta you, Fresh? Also, even Fresh doin’ tha outro, too; just seems long but I liked how he did tha outros, on certain outros. Oh boy, “Stuntastic”; I luv attachin’ “tastic” to words, too, ya heard me?! My Rating: 4.1

11. “Hard Life” feat. Juvenile & Lil’ Wayne
>>> Sounds good with Baby on tha 1st verse, as well as tha beats goin’ on fa tha Big Tymers vibe, here… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds nice with Juvie, here; he’s such a great role model fa tha hoodz of tha 504—sound, too…! Keepin’ this shit movin’ with tha 2nd verse from Weezy, here, comin’ through with greatness! So glad Weezy got his rewarded success, in tha end; glad his longevity long af! Got tha 3rd verse from Mannie Fresh, here, comin’ through with a catchy vibe ta flow with tha beat; good goin’, Fresh! Keepin’ this shit movin’ with Juvie on tha 4th verse, comin’ through with mo shit fa tha hood; so proud of his representations! My Rating: 4.5

12. Big Chief (Skit) (Ziggy)
>>> Luv how Ziggy speaks tha facts, in an aggressive way! It’s like, “WALK! WALK!! WALK!!” He’s tha type that really forces out tha good, in tha end! Almost sounds like tha male Cita! “Cita; she’s a big baby!!” My Rating: N/A

13. “We Hustle” feat. B.G., Juvenile & Turk
>>> Sounds like anotha nice-soundin’ Cash Money beat, here; feelin’ how Juvie comin’ through on tha 1st verse, here… Hearin’ tha hook from Turk & it dope with tha “hustle”; no wonder why I “hustle” with my talent! It’s tha quality like this that brings tha most outta people, I feel like! That goes ta those that focus on their dreams in a major way (e.g., myself)! Got B Gizzle on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through with his usual, laidback, hood content; not bad, Mr. Gizzle…! Got Birdman on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit his bossmade-soundin’ self, here; not bad/good job… Luv how this has a “Tha Block Is Hot” feel to it; Mannie Fresh & his consistent-ass! Also, Fresh doin’ a 4th verse? Oh, tha checklist-type of flow! Lots of decentness & now, this? Deep… My Rating: 4.3

14. “Pimp On” feat. Unplugged
>>> Sounds like a different type of track that I prolly wouldn’t be too-too excited about… That male singin’ on tha hook’s kinda sappy; a lil’ catchy but it seems like it neva ends? Finally, some Birdman at 0:54 fa tha 1st verse… Diggin’ tha celeb/car-like rhymes he be spittin’; can’t deny but to appreciate success! Oh boy, tha 2nd verse iz Fresh with his checklist-soundin’ flow…! Even “in tha shitter”; go, Figgy-Fresh! Of course, a long outro with that hook just takin’ ova tha speakers, entirely…! Oh wait, Baby saved tha day with tha 3rd verse & his “Girbauds”; huh biggy-biggy-bruh! Also, Fresh on tha 2nd part of tha 3rd verse? At least it’s a normal flow than tha check-liggy-liggy-list! My Rating: 4.0

15. “Stuntastic” feat. B.G.
>>> Can’t believe I’m listenin’ ta somethin’ called “Stuntastic”, right now! Talk about leaders!! Beat’s definitely pretty pure, includin’ how B.G. holdin’ down tha 1st verse! Oh, just luvin’ how tha beat gets more excitin’, startin’ with Bar 5! It was Bars 5 – 8! Also, Bars 13 – 16! Interestin’-ass thought, Fresh! Gotta luv tha hook; that’s me, all tha way! That’s tha way I express my dialect! B.G., you nailed it!! Hearin’ Birdman on tha 2nd verse & it sounds cool, as well; definitely feelin’ how he expressin’ his “Stuntastic”-ass…! “Stuntastic, straight out tha plastic!” That’s B.G. for ya!! Keepin’ this movin’ with Fresh on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through with a decent-soundin’ flow; sounds more like a list of what’s bein’ shown, tho… Also, no special beat sounds durin’ his verse? How cutthroat to his damn self! Oh, now, tha excitin’ beat sounds came back, once B.G. hit us with tha hook, again! “Ballerific”, just like “Ballaholic” (Beelow)! Luv tha lil’ outro from B.G., as well; it’s all about that dialect that catches tha most customer service attention, lol… My Rating: 4.8

16. “Rocky” feat. Juvenile
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ 1st verse from Baby, here; spittin’ catchy rhymes on this nice beat by Fresh, of course…! Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds catchy with Juvie’s “Rocky Balboa” reference; props fa hittin’ ‘em, Juvie! Early auto-tune? At 1:15, Mannie Fresh says, “Cat cave,” or somethin’ & it sounds like auto-tune…! Did he realize he coulda made a lot more off of it than T-Pain? Who knew…? That’s just my opinion… As far as Fresh on tha 2nd verse, here, it’s a decent lil’ verse; good contribution that was overshadowed by tha auto-tune discovery I made…! *Sigh* Okay, Fresh, you’re on tha 3rd verse, too, as I can give you props fa doin’ a good job with tha verse. It’s like, you always want a win, Fresh! Gotta keep goin’ fa tha big “W”! Also, tha 2nd part of tha 3rd verse with Birdman, here, comin’ through with a good contribution ta split up Fresh’s extra full verse… My Rating: 4.4

17. “Big Tymers” feat. B.G., Lac & Stone
>>> Sounds like a slower anthem-type of beat, here; sounds good, regardless… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Birdman & it sounds good; analyzin’ tha streets like you know every eyeball! Feelin’ tha perspective of tha “jumped off tha porch,” just strictly movin’ up to tha next stage in life…! Keepin’ this thang movin’ with B Gizzle on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through with that real-soundin’ gangsta shit; you know what it be…! Oh boy, tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse iz Figgy-Fresh; at least he comin’ through with a good flow fa this track. Hearin’ tha 3rd verse from this Lac dude & it’s pretty dope with how well he flows with tha beat! Definitely dope! Also, tha Stone dude sounds nice & southern with his presence; definitely nice! Did I forget ta mention, props fa B.G. fa reppin’ fa tha “Big Tymers” on tha hook, here; definitely dope with that siren-catchy beat sound, too! I made a dedication-type of track like this one ta 70th Street Carlos called “Fulla Dat 70th”; I wanted ta celebrate how great he iz, on a track. My Rating: 4.7

18. “Snake”
>>> Sounds like a decent lil’ beat ta end this release off… Hearin’ Fresh on tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad; basically, he showin’ everythang all off, once again. Hearin’ tha hook & I can see where DJ B Real gets his inspirations from; Fresh, you really provide that dose of catchiness…! All about tha “rattlesnake,” basically… Keepin’ this movin’ with tha 2nd verse from Birdman, comin’ through wit how he makes it with his “Snake”, accordin’ to this title & its content… I’m glad that it’s at least entertainin’; tha Big Tymers done earned they ratings! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & it sounds more like an outro? Oh, well, maybe it’s ‘cause Mannie Fresh lead it off with his checklist-type of flow; it even spilled into Birdman’s court! Either way, to me, it sounded more like filler space! My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Awesome job, y’all! Some of tha flows I may’ve not’ve agreed with but tha tracks really stood out, altogether. Great job with tha continuous dose of catchiness y’all two applied ta this release! Glad y’all got even more out there than just this but these tymes are pryme tymes!
